Chapter 60: Earthbound Rising
The barrier the Puzzle projected had been enough to stop the debris from crushing them. Ushio grunted as he stood, picking up Atem and dragging him out of the room. Luckily still, the interior of the building was still strong enough to hold together. They had the space to run down the emergency stairs - despite the state of the building. The two managed to get out, surveying the area to find the majority of Shiro's guards had fled the area as well.
"No time to waste. We need to save Mikage." Ushio said as Atem was set down. The shorter man adjusted the Puzzle, glad it had been returned to him.
"What about Shiro?" Atem asked, looking around the immediate area for the man.
"He fell from that high. Even if that magic Ring protected him, I don't think he's in any shape to be a threat. Mikage. Now." Ushio said with authority in his voice.
"And Divine?"
"He's running back to the Arcadia Movement. From the looks of it he's going to have to wait before he can do anything major." Ushio responded. "Besides, we need Security organized enough to deal with the Arcadia Movement as well as track down that Warren. The easiest way we can start to address all of that is to get Mikage back in action."
Atem nodded and gave the officer a half smile. "Then lead the way. I did swear I'd help you with that – and I want to keep my promise."
They were silent as Ushio turned on his D-Wheel and reached for his helmet.
"Well – I certainly didn't think things would turn out like this." Ushio admitted as they boarded the D-Wheel and took off. Emergency crews were on their way, and Ushio floored it before they got caught in traffic. Things were getting heavier and Ushio made a comment about rush hour being particularly bad.
Atem decided to break the silence as they slowed to a crawl.
"Back then – back when Yugi first solved the Puzzle. I didn't reflect on the fate of those I judged, Ushio. I didn't think much on the things I did before Duel Monsters became the forefront of my life. I thought that I could be a judge to the wicked, and that the punishment was always just. I suppose it was my position of Pharaoh giving me that ideal - despite my memory loss back then. I cannot truly apologize, but - "
"Stop it! I get that you feel bad about it now, alright!? How about we call it even once we fix Mikage? Besides – I can't say that the future has been bad. Don't get the wrong idea, I still have issues from back then but - "
Ushio yelled as traffic picked up again and he swerved to avoid a speeding truck, honking in frustration at the driver. He grumbled and took an alternate route before resuming the conversation.
"- you DID traumatize me. That said, I feel more at home here in Neo Domino City than back then - "
Ushio swerved again as a multitude of traffic followed the speeding truck. This time he had to pull over as the barricade of cars, D-Wheels, and the odd truck sped right by.
"What the hell!? If it's not one thing, it's another!" Ushio swore.
"Well – Ushio, I think I know why that's happening. Look up." Atem said.
Ushio glanced up and his eyes were drawn to the massive Monkey glyph in the sky. And the stone heart, beating slowly. Atem's Puzzle activated, a golden barrier surrounding himself and his driver as the souls of people around them began to be absorbed.
As this happened, arcs of purple fire ignited, tearing through buildings and streets as drivers and onlookers screamed. The blaze kept expanding, carving curves and angles through the City.
Suddenly the departure of souls caused traffic to cease as crash upon crash was heard. Speeding vehicles now without drivers, and Ushio accelerated to avoid getting crashed into.
"Well if it's not one thing, its' another!" He said as they sped up.
/
The sky flashed purple as the Monkey Mark appeared, hundreds of souls quickly flocking to the stone heart hanging in the sky.
The accompanying blast of power was enough to shake the entire area as the great Monkey rose from the smoke, the creature's grey body glowing with bright yellow lines. The skyscraper sized Earthbound God let out a groan and waded through the purple flames, crushing buildings and roads as it advanced.
Demak chuckled as he watched the God his soul was bound to begin its march.
"Cusillu. Before we move against Shiro and Bakura – we will recover what he left us." Demak stated.
The news had reported the building Shiro was in had been leveled, though as to what had done it was a mystery. With the current Duel between Yusei Fudo and Aki Izayoi distracting the public, this was the best time to strike.
The hospital was on the far side of the City but Demak didn't mind as Cusillu's appearance would draw everyone's attention to its' appearance. It had already called out one Duelist unlucky enough to challenge him today.
Time Wizard shattered as Demak's attack had crushed the pavement the two had been dueling on. His opponent was beaten, the meek looking duelist who went by Leo screaming as his nose-ringed face and blonde hair faded to purple energy, being absorbed into the Immortal as Cusillu passed overhead.
Soon, all would be well. The Cycle would be broken as the Dark Signers turned it under their complete control. Five thousand years could pass again – but this time not even the Crimson Dragon would be able to shift the cycle back towards the light. Not if Demak's plan paid off.
Soon, Ancient Fairy Dragon would be his once again.
Soon, they would be able to take the world without opposition.
/
Rua couldn't believe what he saw on the television. His chest hurt seeing Yusei and Aki tear one another to shreds. It was just like the Fortune Cup – except this time his idol was not himself. The wound on his head ached as Rua still found it hard to believe Yusei Fudo had done that to him.
The worst part was Divine, watching smugly as the game proceeded. Then the camera had a hard time picking out what was happening as a dark orb covered the field. It was at a very critical point in the Duel as well.
Then the television changed, showing a purple mark in the sky and orders to evacuate the premises. Rua was startled. He felt the ground shake and wanted to tell himself it wasn't possible. It felt like too much to take in at once.
He could identify the glyph as the Monkey Mark.
Then the entire hospital shuddered. Rua screamed as he realized that the Immortal was close by.
The things' footsteps advanced and Rua was stunned at what it implied. Demak had returned - and Cusillu was heading right for them!
The staff was frantic to evacuate everyone when a purple flash sent everyone away. Rua could only watch as the souls of the doctors, nurses, patients, and visitors flew out of the hospital and towards the approaching Monkey God.
"Boy. Girl. I want my card back. Face me if you have the courage without your Crimson Dragon."
Demak's voice. Rua felt a fire build within him as he ran out of the now dark hospital, the only thing standing in the way of Cusillu and his sister.
Rua pushed his worry about Yusei and Aki to the side. His sister filled that void and he moved as fast as he could. Despite his instinct to drag her body out of the hospital, he didn't have the time. The Immortal would arrive before he could get Ruka out of the building. That left him with a few options and he picked the most reckless one.
The doors swung open as he stared up at the Monkey God. Rua didn't care if it was a stupid move to approach Demak, running down the steps as he yelled.
"Demak! Stop! Call off the Immortal and I'll Duel you again!" he screamed. It was practically a plea.
The other man was stoic as he responded.
"Not this time, boy. Ruka is the only one I want to Duel. Not you. Out of the way." The Dark Signer commanded.
"No! I'll stop you! I've gotten a lot stronger since the last time we Dueled! Leave us alone - or I'll crush you!"
"Threatening even a Dark Signer?!" Demak said, sounding insulted, but chuckling just the same.
"Know that I left you and your sister's souls untouched - only for one purpose. You both are prey that we Dark Signers want to hunt."
"Prey? Well bring it on! You'll see that I'm not a kid anymore!" Rua shot back.
"Such spirit! Those are truly the eyes I saw back in the Fortune Cup then!" Another voice responded.
Rua was shocked as it was one he knew all too well.
Bommer got off of his large D-Wheel, removing his horned helmet and smiled at Rua. Despite the whites of the man's eyes being pitch black and the purple flames behind him, Bommer's smile seemed genuine.
Rua was unsure how he missed the gigantic D-Wheel's appearance but the fire and the Earthbound Immortal looming overhead had taken up his attention.
Bommer spoke, addressing him directly. "Rua. I will accept and Duel you instead. I want to see if you've grown as I've heard!"
"B-Bommer?! You're a – Dark Signer again! But – but - " Rua took a step back and Demak grinned.
"I don't want the two of us to crush you between us. I even had Cusillu spare your souls. Now. Where. Is. Your. Sister?" Demak asked.
"I'll tell you only if you agree to Duel me!" Rua said.
The Dark Signer grinned as he looked behind Rua, straight at the hospital. "You're challenging me here. Standing right in front of the hospital. Her location couldn't be more obvious." Demak said. "But – why wouldn't she evacuate?" He asked.
"The Fortune Cup. I remember Dueling took a toll on her." Bommer spoke up. "Perhaps she is still unconcious." The man reasoned.
"Don't take another step or I'll really lose it!" Rua said, turning on his Duel Disk.
RUA: 4000
Demak chuckled as Cusillu shook, lowering into the ground as his presence was no longer needed.
The purple sign in the sky faded as he sat down in the cracked pavement and crossed his legs, closing his eyes. "She can't Duel? Fine. I think I know the reason why. Then I'll leave the boy to you, Bommer. After all – that's why I spared him from Cusillu's hunger."
Bommer nodded and pulled his Duel Disk from his montrous D-Wheel, the evil looking wing flashing purple and unfolding to reveal his spell and trap zones as his life points were displayed.
BOMMER: 4000
"Then we begin! Rua!" Bommer declared as the two faced one another, with no intent to back down.
/
"Mikage!"
There was a golden light and then she felt alive again. She felt the sensations of a stuffy nose, a dry mouth, tired eyes, and a lower back ache that had been persisting for the last few hours of her shift. There was also the echo of her name in addition to a distant sounding news report.
All the senses confirmed that she was back in a flesh and blood body. And it felt like the perfect fit.
"Mikage! Can you hear me!?" A deep and rugged voice yelled out. Right. She'd been trapped inside the doll and Ushio had talked to her.
Mikage opened her eyes to see Ushio hovering over her, staring at her with worry.
"Ushio?" She asked, half surprised to hear her own voice. The man beamed at her in response.
"You're alright!" He said, his face turning into a smile.
He looked overwhelmed and she sat up from the couch she was on, giving him a hug.
He was still for a moment before returning it, shaking as he did so.
"I'm so glad - ! So glad that you're OK!" Ushio managed, slackening the hug only for her to double down, leaning into him.
"Thank you for saving me again, Ushio." She said softly. Then they broke the hug and she returned the smile.
Ushio turned to his right, where Atem stood, the Puzzle around his neck glowing faintly.
"Then that settles it. We're even as far as I'm concerned." The Officer said.
Atem closed his eyes and looked reflective.
"I'm just glad I could be of any help, Ushio." The man said before looking to the two of them. "That said, the Dark Signers have just returned as we've witnessed. The Puzzle should keep you safe if you both stay close by." Atem said, looking on guard.
"Where are we?" Mikage asked.
"My place." Ushio said. "I didn't want to just leave you at HQ. If Bakura could just get in like that, it wouldn't be safe. I'm not taking any chances today considering what's happened to Aki, Yusei, and Crow."
"Agreed." Mikage said. "Well – as a member of Security I don't want to just sit here and do nothing." She said, standing up and checking to see if her blue suit was still fine. It was and she felt relieved that Ushio had come through and saved her.
"Now that you two have finished whatever that Bakura was talking about, we should move. Where are the Dark Signers right now?" Mikage asked.
"Well – The Monkey was on the move. It just stopped by Neo Domino Central Hospital and vanished!" Ushio said.
Atem nodded. "That said, there's also troubling news that The Arcadia Movement has been revived. Divine managed to brainwash Aki and she just defeated Yusei – though he wasn't himself."
"Right. Ushio, you mentioned Yusei and Crow?"
At the mention of their fellow Security Officer's name, Ushio and Atem went silent. Mikage suddenly felt like she'd been punched in the stomach. Though the Dark Signers' revival was going to lead to death on a large scale, a personal face among the dead made it feel real."
"What happened to Crow?" Mikage asked, a hint of steel in her voice.
"He was shot in the back by Warren – shortly after you were trapped in that doll." Ushio said, his body shaking – now with anger rather than joy.
"Ushio. . . " Mikage grabbed his arm and gave him a sympathetic look.
Mikage looked to the television and a few minutes of watching confirmed what both men said was true.
Mikage prioritized the situation and found stopping the Dark Signers and the Arcadia Movement were at the top of the list. Then she weighed her options. Stop a lunatic who wanted to use Duel Monsters to get his way or stop a death worshipping cult that could wipe the City off the map.
"We're going to the hospital." Mikage decided. "We can clean up Divine after all the Dark Signers are dealth with."
"But how are we going to fight a dark God? Let alone five of them?" Ushio questioned.
"Well – if he really was the King of Games, that should count for something." Mikage said, looking to Atem. "If Demak stopped at the Hospital that means he's there for a reason. And the former Signers are still around. We just need to get in contact with them." Mikage reasoned.
Then she pulled out a key from her belt and gave it to Ushio.
"Take Atem to my place and use this key to get in. It'll get my jeep and that way we'll all be able to get around." She reasoned, looking to the television playing. "And if I'm not mistaken, that's Rua dueling. He's grown but I don't know if he can handle a Dark Signer on his own. Once we do that, we'll look into going after the Arcadia Movement."
Ushio saluted and Mikage rolled her eyes. "Get going! The sooner you get back here, the sooner we can move out!" She said. The two men were quick to run out of the small place and Mikage wanted to laugh at the scene. It certainly was better than thinking of how much they'd lost. Mikage took the time to contact Kazama and update her fellow Officer on the situation at large. There was a lot to catch up on, it seemed.
/
"Will you accept this Dark Signer's Duel!?" Bommer yelled, the challenge hanging in the air to taunt Rua.
"I don't mind staring down death again! It's something I was able to walk away from!" The teen responded, staring down the two of them as his Duel Disk shuffled and he drew five cards.
"Then we begin. You were the one to appear before us, so it is only right that you go first." Bommer said. Rua wouldn't complain as the Duel began.
RUA: 4000 / BOMMER: 4000
TURN 1
"Draw!' Rua said, pulling a sixth card from his deck.
"Here's Deformer Magnet U – in Defense Mode!" he yelled as the magnet robot appeared in its' U shape (3/800/800).
"I end my turn!" Rua said, five cards still ready to use.
"But your sister, Ruka. Will you defeat Bommer fast enough to save her from me?" Demak said as a purple circle of fire appeared around him.
"What?! Are you really going to target her while she's asleep!?" Rua snarled.
"Not exactly. While you are facing Bommer, my servant, Zeman, will Duel her in my stead. Cussilu was unable to find her sould within that building – only an empty husk whose' true light has gone – into the world of Duel Monster Spirits!
It's only a matter of time until he finds where she's run off to. Once he does, I will be able to face her directly." Demak said, lowering his head as he exhaled, the orbs of dark light crackling around him as he called his servant ot his side.
"Zeman! Find Ruka and Ancient Fairy Dragon! We will get back what Rudger entrusted to us!" Demak yelled.
Then Demak slumped, his body still cross legged in a trance of some kind.
Rua turned to Demak, glaring as he protested. "No! I'll stop your Zeman even if it means facing both of - "
"Enough words. He is already gone from this world. Zeman's hunt begins – as my own does as well! My turn!" Bommer shouted as he drew his first card.
Turn 2: RUA: 4000 / BOMMER: 4000
"I begin with Magic Reactor AID!" Bommer declared as he played the card.
The thin and metallic creature appeared with a shriek, its mandibles clacking together (3/1200/900).
"Now! Attack Magnet-U!" Bommer directed as his monster went on the attack. A swarm of missiles fired from the pods on Magic Reactor AID's body, destroying the magnetic monster.
"Then I'll set a card." Bommer said, ending his turn with four cards left.
Turn 3 RUA: 4000 / BOMMER: 4000
"Reactors again?" Rua asked, drawing for his turn and looking at the hand of six cards. The last Duel he had with Bommer had been a total loss. Bommer had depleted his Life-Points with effects responding to his Monster's Summons and his Spell and Trap activations. Keeping something like his Magic Reactor AID around would only mean he'd eventually take damage over time.
"In that case, I'll Summon Deformer Staplen!"
Rua's monster appeared, a humanoid robot whose' body was a large, transformed stapler (4/1400/1000).
"And I'm not afraid to attack you! Staplen will avenge Magnet – U! Crush his Magic Reactor AID!" Rua commanded.
The robot nodded and lept at the other machine – only to crash into a barrier and fall on its back.
Bommer spoke even as he lost a small amount of Life-Points (BOMMER: 4000 → 3800).
"Hmph. Not a bad attack. But my trap card – Fake Explosion Penta – will protect Magic Reactor AID and Special Summon out my Summon Reactor AI from my hand!" Bommer countered.
The large beige bomber robot appeared on his field, towering over Deformer Staplen (5/2000/1400).
"Then I need to be more careful about this! I can't get boxed in like last time!" Rua observed, setting a card and leaving his hand with four to use for later.
"I end my turn." He said.
Turn 4 RUA: 4000 BOMMER: 3800
Bommer drew his next card, giving him four once again.
"Although you wish to avoid the fate you in our last Duel, it's already too late to prevent the terror of my Reactor Deck! Now - I summon Trap Reactor RR!" Bommer announced as the next monster appeared.
The squat and dark green bomber robot appeared, arm-like wings at the ready (4/800/1800).
"No! All three - already on the field!" Rua observed.
"I'll battle right away! Summon Reactor – attack his Deformer Staplen!"
The largest Reactor fired a hail of bullets at the Stapler robot, the sound of the gunfire enough to drown out the crackle of the flames.
As the attack neared Staplen, a trap card sprung up.
"I'll use Morphtransition to cancel that attack – and shift my Staplen into Defense Mode!" Rua yelled as his ears rang from the first attack. Upon the explanation, Staplen assumed defense position as it folded up into a large stapler (DEF: 1000).
"Yes – but since you used a trap card, you'll suffer effect damage from my Trap Reactor!" Bommer warned as the newest monster fired at Rua.
The youth screamed as the bullets hit the area around him, leaving him shaken and paralyzed for a moment (RUA: 4000 → 3200).
"Now – Magic Reactor AID! Attack his Staplen!" Bommer directed as the wyvern-like machine fired a new hail of missiles at the stapler robot.
The missiles hit – but the robot was unharmed as it transformed back into attack mode (Staplen ATK: 1400). The robot then fired a torrent of glowing yellow staples at the Magic Reactor, forcing it into defense mode (Magic Reactor AID DEF: 900).
The robot wasn't done, however, as the staples continued to fire, striking Trap Reactor and changing it into attack mode (Trap Reactor ATK: 800).
"Hmm?" Bommer asked at the changes in battle position.
"Staplen's true power shines when you attack it! While it's in defense mode, it can't be destroyed in battle!" Rua said. "And I didn't forget about your Reactor deck! I needed Staplen in defense mode to use this strategy!"
"Smart. But now – you will take effect damage no matter what you do. If you have not matured since our last Duel – then the result will be the same. I set one card and end my turn." Bommer said, looking serious as he had two cards remaining.
Turn 5: RUA: 3200 / BOMMER: 3800
Rua drew a fifth card and grinned from ear to ear.
"You'll see just how much I've improved starting now! I begin with Deformer Speed Unit! This card lets me return a Deformer like Radicassen back to my Deck to draw a card and destroy a card you control!" Rua said as his hand size was reduced to three cards. He then pointed at Summon Reactor SK.
"Then in response suffer the effect of Magic Reactor!" Bommer countered as the monster fired a swarm of missiles around where Rua was standing. The boy screamed as his body burned with pain – though the Shadow Game prevented the damage to injure him beyond the point where he could Duel (RUA: 3200 → 2400).
"My spell will still destroy that Reactor!" Rua yelled.
"Don't be so sure! Behold what I have chained in response to your spell card! The Trap card – Delta Reactor!" Bommer cried as his three reactors started to shine with purple light and move close together.
Rua glanced to the Graveyard to see that Bommer had indeed used the powerful trap card.
"Oh no-!' Rua began as Bommer continued to speak.
"Let's see you deal with this! Now - I send Summon Reactor AI, Trap Reactor RR, and Magic Reactor AID to my Graveyard - !" Bommer began as the three machines were consumed, converging into a larger form.
The light faded away to reveal a huge monster, created from the three merged bomber robots.
"Now appear! Giant Bomber – AIRRAID!" Bommer declared.
"That's the card that defeated me in the Fortune Cup!" Rua said as he looked up at the war machine.
The sound of the monsters' propellors drowned out the crackle of the flames as the bomber robot sazed down at Rua, the gun turrets on the wings rotating down to point at him. The monsters' shadow fell across the field as Rua felt the terror of facing it once again.
/
"We're almost there, Ruka." Ancient Fairy said as Ruka clung to the dragon's back.
It had been hours as they'd left the atmosphere and flown through space. The stars were bright as they went on their way. It was not space in the regular sense as they both could breathe in it. Ancient Fairy explained it was more like a sea in this dimension than Ruka's naitive one. Despite the journey being of utmost importance, Ruka felt time crawl as nothing of note had changed.
Suddenly Ancient Fairy Dragon halted as the bright path ahead of them was blocked by a shadow. It was humanoid in nature, clearly taller than an average adult would be.
"Who is that?" She asked. Ancient Fairy hissed.
The figure's form was reaveled – an Ape Man with reddish fur and wearing dark green robes and armor. His grin was full of teeth as he set eyes upon Ancient Fairy Dragon.
"Zeman. Back down or I will obliterate you." Ancient Fairy warned.
"Hmph! You're not a Signer's dragon anymore! But I am still the servant of a Dark Signer! My darkness will overpower your light!" Zeman laughed as a purple trail of fire appeared around him and the dragon, forming into the mark of a monkey – forcing them to stay still.
"Master Demak tasked me with finding you and I did so with ease! Now – I will defeat you through his might!"
"You will try to do so." Ancient Fairy countered.
Ruka narrowed her eyes.
"Ancient Fairy – what should we do?"
"He is challenging us on your terms, Ruka. As Demak has to act through his servant. Therefore by right of a Duel." The dragon answered.
"Alright then. We'll cast you back into the darkness and be rid of you!" Ruka said as she stood up and turned on her Duel Disk.
Zeman laughed as his left arm was engulfed in purple flames, the blaze dying to reveal a black Duel Disk on his arm.
"DUEL!" They both cried out and drew their hands.
TURN 1: RUKA: 4000 / ZEMAN: 4000
"I summon Armored White Bear!" Ruka cried out as a large polarbear in heavy armor appeared in the space next to her (4/1800/1400).
"That will end my turn." She said as the bear growled at Zeman.
TURN 2: RUKA: 4000 / ZEMAN: 4000
"Impressive. But I think it will not save you from this." Zeman said as he played a card.
"My ally, Magician's Ape."
The monster that appeared was a monkey wearing armor and holding a staff both similar to Dark Magician's own (3/800/1200).
"You see – by discarding a card – in this case a copy of Magician's Ape, I can take control of your monster!" Zeman said with laughter as he paid the cost.
Suddenly Ruka's bear snarled and leapt to the opposing field, giving her a roar of defiance.
"Oh no!" Ruka said as her field was now empty.
"Now – both monsters will attack you directly!" Zeman commanded. Ruka braced herself as Magician's Ape was first, extending his hand out and reducing her life-points in a flash (RUKA: 4000 → 3200).
Then the bear pounced. Ancient Fairy Dragon tried to block the attack but the impact still was felt by her partner (RUKA: 3200 → 1400).
Ruka cried out as the damage felt real. Just like against Aporia – but this time she was Dueling by herself.
"Hmph. I will set one card. And with that – my turn is done." Zeman said with a laugh.
Ruka found she was panting from both direct attacks.
"Ruka. Are you alright?!" Ancient Fairy asked.
"Was this the kind of pain Rua felt when he fought your master in my place?" Ruka asked, getting on her feet to reassure Ancient Fairy as she locked eyes with Zeman.
"Yes! The boy suffered – as you will suffer." Zeman said and another voice joined him.
"Well done, Zeman. I see you are using my borrowed power well."
"Master Demak! Please enjoy as your servant Zeman defeats this wretch and reclaims your Ancient Fairy Dragon!" The monkey said.
"Former Signer. This unfamiliar place is where you will fall." Demak warned and Rua made a fist.
"Underestimate me again and you'll regret it!" She retorted.
TURN 3: RUKA: 1400 / ZEMAN: 4000
"Draw!" She declared, giving her a hand of six cards to use.
"I'll start off with Sunlight Unicorn!" Ruka said as a flash of light heralded a beautiful white unicorn with a mane of sky blue (4/1800/1000).
"Then I'll use her effect! I look at the top card of my deck and if it's an Equip Spell I can add it to my hand. But if it's not then I send it to the bottom of my deck!"
Ruka checked and tisked as her Oberon's Prank card was sent to the bottom of her deck.
"Then I'll battle! Sunlight Unicorn! Get rid of his Magician's Ape!"
The horse whinnied and charged, impaling the ape on its horn. The other monster screamed in agony before it shattered. Zeman hissed as he took damage (ZEMAN: 4000 → 3000).
"Accursed beast!' Zeman retorted but then chuckled.
"However that hardly matters! Armored White Bear has the same attack power! Next turn I'll just have both of them destroy each other!"
"That won't happen! On my second Main Phase I'll use this! Swords of Revealing Light!" Ruka said as five blades appeared between their fields.
"This will keep you from attacking for three of your turns!" Ruka said as Zeman snarled.
"Excellent, Ruka. He has underestimated you at his own peril." Ancient Fairy Dragon said.
"A minor setback! I'll make up for it soon – as soon as those Swords are gone!' Zeman swore as Ruka ended her turn with four cards to spare.
TURN 4: RUKA: 1400 / ZEMAN: 3000
"I Draw!" Zeman said, giving him four to use. "Now I Release Armored White Bear to Advance Summon Fighter's Ape!" He declared as the first monster vanished, replaced by a muscular gorilla (5/1900/1200).
"That is all for my turn." The Monkey King said, holding three cards in hand.
As his turn ended. The Swords of Revealing Light began to chip and fragment (Swords of Revealing Light: 1).
TURN 5: RUKA: 1400/ ZEMAN: 3000
Ruka drew a fifth card.
"I'll Summon Sunny Pixie in Defense Mode!" She stated as a small fairy appeared at her side (1/300/400).
"That will end my turn."
TURN 6: ZEMAN: 4
Zeman drew a fourth card and sneered. "Then I will play this! Finally, my time has come! Dark Tuner – Dark Ape!"
He played the card and an abstract looking ape appeared, made out of clay shapes (2/0/0).
"Then I'll use the spell Dark Wave to treat my Fighter's Ape's level as Minus Five!" Zeman said as Dark Ape roared, consumed by a surge of dark lighting for a moment (DARK APE LVL: 5 → -5).
"Oh no!" Was all Ruka could say as Zeman's plan was clear.
"So by subtracting my Dark Tuner – Dark Ape's level from my Dark Ape's, I can Dark Synchro!" The Ape said as he chanted.
"The one born from the darkness, become the supreme ruler who shall lead all of creation into the negative world! Dark Synchro! Appear now, Demonic Monkey King Zeman!"
The summon ended as Zeman himself stepped onto the field with a grin.
"And then I can draw a card since I was able to Synchro Summon using my Dark Tuner Dark Ape." Zeman said as he drew and held three cards.
"My turn is over. Your Swords only have one more turn left! Eventually you will meet your fate by my hand."" Zeman said, making a fist.
As he spoke, more cracks and chips appeared in the five blades (Swords of Revealing Light : 2).
Ruka took a step back at the sight of the Dark Synchro. She knew she was on her own but the feeling set in further as the monster laughed and laughed.
