Chapter 30

Days Later

When it comes down to it. We all make a choice. When pushed to our limits we're do whatever we have to in order to numb the pain we're in. Or push down that overwheling feeling of being lost or unsure of who we are and where to turn. So we'll run far and deeply into ourselves to dim the light inside our eyes and transform into someone different. Maybe even a stranger all together.

Lucas checked the time on his cellphone again. Reviewed his calls and texts. There was nothing new. Aurora's Creative writing class ended thirty minutes ago. Normally she would of been in the passenger seat. The two would be on their way home.

Lucas purposefully keeping off the radio and turning his phone so he would be her main focus.

After calling her friends and anyone else he could think of. And being unable to locate her. He was overcome with this sick, uneasy feeling.

Lucas drove home bypassing speed limits. Brooke was at her store working so it was just him in the house alone. He raced inside and went the stairs. He opened Aurora's bedroom door with a loud slam. And searched the room for clues.

At the sight of an envelope on the bed. He walked over and picked it up. Sat down at the foot of the bed. Tore open the envelope.

It was for him. His name written neatly on the front.

Lucas unfolded the single sheet of paper knowing without a doubt his daughter's handwriting.

He felt his heart screaming as he read the words she wrote.

Dear Lucas,

I never imagined life would turn out this way for either of us. For so long i had to push away the thoughts and feelings that came about when i thought about my existence. I often felt like an unwelcomed burden thrown on you're shoulders at such a young age. You all you could. The best you could. At this crossroads we find ourselves in leads me to one conclusion and that is this.

Have you're happy ending. Without me being the weight wrapped to you're feet any longer.

Don't try to find me. It will only prolong the past. I love you. Ro.

Lucas couldn't stop his mind from racing. Tears falling from his eyes. As he struggled to breath and process his thoughts.

"No. My baby. My Girl!" Lucas screamed. The cellphone of the teenager remained on the desk.

Aurora clutched her burner cellphone and held on tightly to her backpack. She had managed to save 1,000 dollars when it ran out she would find a way to get more. She kept her gaze towards the window. As pilot's voice rang loudly through the aisle.
