Hey everybody, thank you yet again for the reviews so far and I'm happy you are all still enjoying this. Just wanted to let you all know that for it to fit in with the storyline I had set out, Brax doesn't have tons of money like he does on the show. Yes, he owns Angelos and half of the gym, but I felt like with Heath been a police officer they wouldn't do any criminal stuff. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know.
At the same time…
Summer Bay – Yabbie Creek – Northern Districts Hospital – Heath's Room
Cassie was currently sat beside Heath's bed as he played with one of her 17th birthday presents from Rocco.
"What do I do? What do I do?" Heath asked as the device in his hand made a noise.
"Feed it." Cassie said as she placed a crisp in her mouth.
"Yeah, I just did."
"Aww, too late."
"Aww." Heath said sadly as the little character on the game died, causing Cassie to laugh at him.
"You should've seen Rocco when his died, he literally started crying. He thought that meant he was going to be a bad dad." Cassie stopped speaking as the thought of Rocco made her sad.
"Hey, listen. I meant what I said before." Heath reiterates "I'm going to be here for you and the baby no matter what."
Cassie smiles at that thought just as Sally enters the room: "Right, come on Cassie. We should let this one get some rest."
"Oh, you're not going to leave me, are you? Only I still need some more training." Heath asks them both hoping they wouldn't leave.
Looking at Heath's face, Cassie turns to Sally and says: "Err, can I catch the bus home?"
"Cass, you need some rest too. Come on." Sally reminds her daughter.
"I won't be late."
Sally sighs looking at Heath, she eventually caves and replies: "Okay, I'll see you later."
"Thank you." Cassie said at the same time Heath said bye.
The two of them smile at each other once Sally had left the room and go back to playing with the device.
(4:50pm) 37 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Living Room/Kitchen
"How's Heath?" Casey asks as Brax walks through the door.
"Yeah I think he's going to be ok." Brax tells him as he heads straight to the fridge just as Ricky comes in with some washing.
"What we talking about?" She asks.
"Brax was just telling me how Heath is?" Casey informs her "Go on Brax continue."
"Well, Cassie seems to have him back on track." Brax finishes.
"That's good." Ricky says "So, I suppose you've heard."
Brax and Casey both look at Ricky with confusion as they have no idea what she's going on about.
"Heard what?" Brax asks his girlfriend as he walks over to the table with his beer.
"The search has been called off."
"WHAT?!" both of them say at the same time.
"When?" Brax quickly asks.
"Today."
"Your kidding right." Casey says thinking it was a joke.
"Shut up Casey." Brax tells his brother then says "Why?"
"They said there was no point in continuing, the chances of finding any survivors is virtually nil."
"They haven't even found the chopper yet."
"I said that, so did Johnny for that matter, but apparently resources are required elsewhere." Ricky informs them both as she continues folding laundry "So, we have to organise our own private search, we just have to raise the finances."
"And how do they expect us to do that?" Brax asks his girlfriend.
Ricky just ignores not wanting to tell him what she'd already looked through.
"Ricky?"
"Well, I was thinking we could remortgage this place." Ricky tells him.
"Are you serious?"
"Well, we need to raise money somehow Brax."
"Doesn't mean we need to do that. Surely the town can come up with something together."
"Fifty grand."
"What?"
"Fifty grand, that's how much a private search will cost a day, Brax." Ricky informs him "Now if you don't mind, I'm going to go put all this away then go call the bank."
Brax watches Ricky leave the room not liking her idea on how to get money for the search.
"Hey Brax." Casey suddenly says from the sofa after listening to the conversation.
"Yeah Case."
"About tomorrow."
"Yeah, don't worry we are going to celebrate Casey."
"See that's the thing." Casey tells him "I'd rather wait to celebrate my birthday."
"Casey we aren't postponing your birthday because of the money for the search." Brax says but then he notices the look on Casey's face and hits him "You want to wait until they've been found and have joint party with Kyle, don't you?"
"Yeah, I do Brax. It just won't feel right if he isn't here to celebrate either of our birthdays."
"Alright Casey, we will postpone, and I'll let mum know." Brax says to his brother.
"Thank you Brax." Casey says getting up and giving him a hug "Now I have to go meet Ruby as apparently we need to cheer April up."
With that Casey takes off and leaves Brax sitting at the table thinking to himself:
Where are you Kyle? I hope you're ok.
(5:12pm) 22 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Amanda's House – Living Room
Walking through the front door with Dan behind her, Amanda says: "Thanks for the walk. I feel a lot better now."
"Promise me that you'll try and be a bit more positive about Belle, at least until we know something for sure?" Dan suggests to the woman.
"Yeah I will." Amanda tells him as she places her bag on the sofa and her keys in the tray on table "So, tell me about this memorial service that your planning for Peter."
"Well, since we already had the funeral at mum and dad's, it's just a chance to allow his friends and colleagues to say goodbye." Dan says as he follows her into the kitchen.
Summer Bay – Amanda's House – Kitchen
Walking over to the kettle, Amanda fills it up then turns it on.
Grabbing two cups from the cupboard, she says: "That's nice."
"I was going to have it at home but when you think of everyone Pete knew the house doesn't seem big enough."
"You could have it here." Amanda suggests to him.
"Really?"
"Yeah, it might even make up for me being such an idiot today."
"You weren't an idiot but em, thanks that's not a bad idea." Dan says then points behind "Look, I'm going to get going but I might get back to you about that. If you're going to be ok?"
"Yeah, Ryan will be home soon." Amanda reminds Dan about their son coming back from the city.
"He's a bit of a trooper when it comes to looking after his mum." Dan laughs.
"Ah, he takes after his dad and look thank you for today. I mean it, you've been great." Amanda said as Dan pulls her into a hug.
"I'll talk to you later." Dan tells her then turns on his heel and leaves.
Amanda watches him go and then walks back over to the cups she had taken out and places one back in the cupboard as she waits for Ryan to get home.
