This chapter isn't super eventful, but the next one will be, I promise!
So I finally planned out this story (i know, what a surprise..) and I realized it's going to be longer than I planned for. I have the plot all planned out!
My writers block for this story is kinda fading so you'll probably get faster updates. I hope you enjoy this chapter.
Thanks for all your reviews, I wouldn't be able to do this without all the support. :)
And also..I'm REALLY sorry that I can't respond to the reviews this chapter..I accidentaly deleted them from my inbox. Silly me...I will next chapter though, guranteed.
Enjoy!
Chapter 21:
Jason's P.O.V
"We've landed!"
Leo's voice rang throughout the ship. Jason packed up all his things, then headed to the closet. He took a long glance at his large suitcase and sighed. It wasn't supposed to end like this. But he did what he had to do to get his waffle. And that was all that mattered.
He peeked inside his suitcase to make sure the Holy Waffle was still there, an sure enough, he was nearly blinded by it's glow. He chipped off a piece and chewed it. Instantly, his whole body was filled with energy.
"Mmm," he said, lost in his thoughts. A knock on his door jolted him back to reality.
"Jason!"
"Mmmrph! Coming!" He called, quickly slamming his suitcase shut and grabbing his things. He hurried to the door and opened it to find Piper standing behind it. She had put her hair into one braid today and was wearing a white tank top and old tattered jeans. She didn't mean to look pretty, but she really did.
"Hey," Jason breathed a sigh of relief. "So, we finally arrived at camp?"
"Come on, Sparky."
"You haven't called me that in a long time."
"Do you want me to?" Piper teased.
Jason laughed. "You're too much."
Nico's P.O.V
Percy and Annabeth weren't dead.
Nico could sense things like that. Percy and Annabeth were very much alive, he was sure of that much.
But why had Jason lied? Nico had found the guy suspicious for a long time, and now he was starting to doubt the guy. He acted perfect, but Nico could tell he was hiding something. Something big.
He couldn't figure out what though. Jason would never meet anyone's eyes when they were talking about the Waffle Thief. He never came out of his cabin these days.
Something was up.
Nico walked down the isle. Where were Percy and Annabeth? He didn't want to throw Jason under the bus, but he couldn't say anything until he was sure.
Frank's P.O.V
The seven demigods walked down the ship, not saying anything.
What are we going to say to Chiron? Frank thought nervously.
When they got off the ship, they immediately heard the surprised shouts and screams from their fellow campers.
"You guys are back already?" Drew nearly dropped the tube of lip gloss she was holding.
Instantly, they were bombarded with questions.
"How come you're back?"
"Did you catch the Waffle Thief?"
"What happened?"
"Is the quest over?"
"Do goats eat hamburgers?"
"JOHN MATHEWS!"
"Sorry.."
"Where's Percy and Annabeth?"
Frank took a deep breath. "We need to see Chiron, please."
"Move, move, everybody!"
Chiron's voice sounded as he pushed his way through the crowd. His eyebrows knit in worry when he set eyes on the demigods. "You're back already?"
Piper took a shaky breath and stepped forward.
"The quest is over," she announced as if they were at a funeral. "Annabeth and Percy are dead. Annabeth is the Waffle Thief."
Percy and Annabeth walked across the streets of the city, hand in hand.
"Where..where are we?" Percy looked around, hoping to find a place he recognized. He was still in shock at what Jason had done.
"I'm not sure," Annabeth said. "But we're going to figure this out."
"We have to."
"I know, Seaweed Brain."
"Wise Girl."
"Kelp-"
"Annabeth!" said Percy. "Look, a cafe."
Annabeth squinted at the sign on the door. She was still dyslexic, so the words looked like random gibberish to her because it was in English. "I think it says.. "Mazarine Coffee"."
Percy wondered why the name rang a bell in his head. Then it hit him. "Of course! My mom and I came here when we were here on vacation a few years ago."
"Do you know where we are?" Annabeth asked.
"California, I think," Percy frowned. "San Francisco, if I remember correctly."
"So are you sure that there's no...you know, the usual. Monsters dressed up as waiters, ready to kill us?" Annabeth teased.
Percy felt a smile form on his lips. "Let's hope not."
They walked in and settled themselves at a table.
"Percy, what should we do?" Annabeth sighed. "Jason stole the waffle, and we have no idea what will happen to our friends, camp, and when Zeus finds out-"
"Did someone say my name?"
Percy and Annabeth jumped. They looked up to find a tall, muscular man with a neatly shaved beard grinning down at them, wearing a shirt that read, "Waffles Foreva!"
Zeus spread his arms out wide and smiled widely. "My demigods! I've been waiting for too long and I'm getting impatient, but it's finally time to kill you for your treason!"
Percy and Annabeth glanced at each other, and it was obvious that they were thinking the same thing.
OH, CRUD!
