The story is almost over, it's been quiet a ride.
Hari and Annie had decided to put the resignations on hold, saying that the Walls were not truly free yet since Titans still infested them. They were to stick around till people moved back to Wall Maria.
The Titan smasher made by Eren and Annie did most of the work in clearing out Titans, but every now and again a Scout party would be sent out to kill Titans that were deeper in Wall Maria. The Parties often consisted of just a few Titan Shifters and a few additional Scouts with them for backup.
Hari and Annie were the two Shifters sent out the most, they were overall the least valuable; they did not have the Coordinate ability, the Colossal Titan was rather useless when it came to just clearing out a few Titans, and Ymir was most often not allowed to go on missions and often stayed in the Capital with Historia.
Though she did go on a decent number of the Scouting missions, and Hari sometimes thought that Ymir had snuck out to go on them.
Today though it was just her and Annie without any Scouts; Eren had come with them but he wanted to go and hunt for Titans on his own. Both of them were okay with that so they had split ways with Eren a few hours ago.
At this point in time, it was rare to find Titans in large groups, the largest Hari had seen in a while was only three Titans with only one of them being taller than ten meters. So she wasn't worried about Eren.
"I still cannot get over your armor." Annie said in her Titan form looking down at Hari.
"Your mind is very dirty." Hari laughed, speaking through the armored plate on her mouth.
Hari had been surprised by how she looked in her Titan form after eating Reiner, there were many aspects of her Titan that were the same, and many that were different. What Annie was talking about was how the armor curved around her body in a way that drew attention to her curves, butt, and breasts; it was sexual and took a lot of time to get used to.
Annie did not seem to take much time to get used to it, stopping her from staring at it to the point of distraction took a bit longer.
What Hari liked about the new armor the most though was that the scars. Her armor had additional splits besides the splits in the joints, were every scar used to be there was a split in her armor, giving it a very unique texture and made it very interesting to look at.
Her eyes had also taken on the shielding that Reiner had had, but instead of being yellow, they were green. Well her functional eye was solid green. The other eye was very dull and blended with the rest of the armor.
Hari had hoped though that she would have taken on Reiner's fifteen meters in height, she was still only eleven meters. Annie and Eren enjoyed making fun of her height as well, Eren more so since she couldn't make fun of his height outside of their Titan forms, unlike Annie who was still only a hundred fifty-two centimeters.
"We will have to actually decide if we stay in the Survey Corp or not, based on the lack of Titan sightings in the last few weeks I imagine it is only a matter of months till the Walls are deemed safe." Hari sighed as she and Annie continued to wander through Wall Maria.
"What more do we have to do, the Survey Corp will almost become obsolete when the Walls are cleared. With how many people died it will be a very long time before there is any further need to expand outside the Walls. We'll be dead by further expansion is needed." Annie said the last part of what she said was almost intelligible because of how quiet she was.
"So we just do nothing? My life has had far too much insanity in it at this point so I'm not sure if I will be able to survive calm." Hari admitted.
"We are free to go as we please; our life doesn't have to be calm. We can empty our bucket lists, it will keep us busy for… long enough." Annie said trying to convince Hari.
"Why not, it will keep us busy for a while, we can figure out something different after." Hari said, giving in.
/Hanji/
The door to her office opened, looking up from her work Hanji saw Annie Leonhart and Hari Peverell-Potter. She knew immediately why they had come to her, they were finally reigning. She didn't blame them, this line of work never ended with retirement; it was basically a death sentence when you became a Scout.
Annie and Hari had been forced to join; it was not their choice to be in this death sentence of a job, and they had been promised the ability to leave after Maria was taken. But they had stayed to help clear the Walls entirely, which had pushed the estimated time to clear the Walls down to half of the original time.
But even so, six months of doing this job after being promised retirement was a real commitment.
"I guess you are here to sign your retirement papers?" Hanji said as Annie and Hari approached her desk.
"Yes sir." They said together as they both saluted.
Hanji handed then each their papers and then signaled them to sit down at her desk as they signed them. She watched them go through the papers and sign in all the places that they needed; she wondered what they would do now since they were no longer bound to anything.
She would expect them to get married and then chill, but that didn't seem like something either of them would actually be able to do; they would never be able to chill, especially Hari.
If anything they would just run across the world, killing Titans and the other enemies of mankind; just without regulation.
"Can I return, or is this permanent?" Hari asked holding onto the papers.
"Normally it would be considered permanent, but since there are so few of us left, and with all the changed in the government and command you would just need your skills to be reevaluated before joining again." Hanji explained, with Hari finally handing over the papers.
Hanji skimmed through them, then she checked Annie's before looking up at both of them.
"It has been a pleasure serving with you both." Hanji said saluting, her head tightening ever so slightly over her chest as she saw them salute as well.
It was probably the last time she would see them for a long time.
/Hari/One Year Later/
"What do you plan to do? We've done a lot of my bucket list by this point. My magic is somewhat under control so we can do what you want." Annie said sitting down on Hari's bed, as she read the books that Ginny had again.
"Do you have anything else that you want to do?" Hari asked turning from her book to look at Annie, who just glared at her.
"We have done about half the things that I want to do, and we haven't done a single thing that you want to do." Annie said in an exasperated voice as she glared down at Hari.
"It's fine-
"Hari. What do you, want to do?" Annie asked saying each world very clearly and sternly.
"It's not important." Hari said waving in dismissal.
"Hari!" Annie yelled hitting the bed.
Hari remained quiet for a moment, her mind racing.
"It's been so long, and I finally have a way back, but I don't want to go back. But I want to go back so badly as well." Hari said softly.
"You want to return to wherever you came from? Where Ginny came from?" Annie asked looking at Hari carefully.
"I, think so." Hari said.
"Let's go then." Annie said getting up from the bed.
Annie turned and pulled Hari out of bed too, she walked over to the dresser and threw Hari a pair of pants. She heard a quiet thanks from Hari as she dug around in the room, looking for the wand. By the time she found it and turned around Hari was wearing pants.
"We can't just go without any thought put behind it, we haven't prepared!" Hari said watching as Annie collected Ginny's books; except for the one Hari was reading.
"Pack up, I don't know what to bring so you'll have to help me with that; but having food, water, clothes, the wand, and books should be all we need right?" Annie asked looking up from her gathering.
"Our clothes wouldn't fit with everything else, but we don't own any clothes that would fit in with what is normal." Hari said closing her book and getting out of bed, knowing that she was not going to get Annie out of the idea.
"We can probably get food and water, but bringing extra doesn't hurt; though water should be much easier to get so bring more food than water." Hari continued walking over to the closet to help pack up clothes.
"We will need the wand and books if we are actually going to be traveling, since we need the wand for the spell, and the books in case we forget the spell." Hari finished as she dug through the closet.
"Why would we forget the spell?" Annie asked looking at Hari in confusion.
"Magic is strange, best to be careful." Hari said, ignoring Annie looking at her with a confused expression.
"Did I tell you about my teacher?" Hari asked randomly.
"Which one? You have many horrifying stories." Annie said concerned because of the conversation they had just finished.
"The second year, defense; he lost all his memories. His head was completely empty, even years later." Hari said nonchalantly.
"How did you lose his memories? Do I even want to know?" Annie asked, very concerned.
"Oh, Ginny was kidnapped; this is when she was eleven by the way. Anyway, she was kidnapped, and brought down to the sewers where there was a giant snake that I had to fight with a sword. But that's beside the point; the teacher was supposed to go down and fight the snake and save Ginny, but he got scared so I pushed him down the sewer and then followed him. Anyways he tried to fire a memory wiping spell at me so he could get away but it backfired and fried his brain." Hari said calmly like she was talking about catching up with old friends.
"That was basically my whole life; you get used to it after a while." Hari said after the absolute silence from Annie from hearing the story that really should not be a part of a child's life.
"So we bring the books." Annie said after another long moment of absolute silence.
/A minor time jump/
Hari and Annie stood in a massive empty field deep within Wall Maria. Wall Maria was open to everyone, but there was still a small chance that a Titan could appear out of nowhere so not many people lived in the outermost Wall, those who did were those that had lived here before and had survived the years within Wall Rose.
So it was a perfect place to test a spell that could be extremely volatile. Hari would have actually thought that a spell to transcend dimensions would be more complicated than it actually was. Because all they needed was some wand movement, a long string of words, and an object or person that exists in that dimension.
More often than not Hari would have Annie use the wand, as it was more in tune with Annie's magic than her own; but she did not have any knowledge of the Wizarding World so she would have to use it.
She thought of the Wizarding World, of people, places, events; anything, and everything, and she gently moved the wand beginning the pattern.
The wand glowed green; and Hari knew what Ginny had tried to do all that time ago.
She ignored the bite of guilt and continued on with the spell before she finally cast it.
.
Hari woke from the most restful sleep she could remember having in a long, long time, she slowly sat up feeling well. She sighed, followed by another beside her, turning she saw Annie getting up as well slowly blinking as she adjusted to the waking world.
"Why does everything smell so bad?" Annie asked annoyed, sleep still heavily affecting her voice.
"I forgot just how bad the air is in the world, I got so used to yours that this air isn't something I'm comfortable with either. But we will get used to it, everyone does eventually." Hari said, coughing as she slowly stood up and looked around.
"I would like to get everything done with before I get used to it…" Annie said her voice rasping; having never breathed this air before.
"What are we going to be doing here?" Annie asked looking at Hari in confusion.
"We didn't go over that did we?" Hari asked herself.
"I wanted to just, formally say goodbye; to everything. My life was truly horrible here, but I need closure; then we will return and never come back here again." Hari said glaring at everything around her.
"Where are we going?" Annie asked after a long moment of silence for Hari.
"There is a place, probably the only safe haven I have. Follow me, once I figure out where we are I should be able to get us there." Hari said as she began walking out of the isolated area, looking for a road or sign to identify where they had been brought to.
They wandered till they found an across road with signs saying each road's name, and how far down each road was till the end. Hari barely looked at it before she began running, Annie followed right behind her, trying to catch up.
"We aren't far, hurry!" Hari said as she continued to run, Annie still behind her, unable to get ahead of her since her legs were shorter, but she did not fall behind luckily.
/Annie/
They had run for about an hour, some people had taken notice of them, most giving them weird looks but no one seemed interested in stopping them. Why Annie did not know but she assumed that they just thought of them as teenagers playing if teenagers did that here.
She imagined the weird looks were since their clothes were obviously very outdated. Both of them brown pants, boots, and long sleeve shirts, Annie's shirt was white while Hari's was blue. The clothes were nothing like what everyone else was wearing.
Everyone else's clothes seemed softer, cleaner, and just overall better than the clothes that Hari and she were wearing; their clothes also seemed to be made to be very breathable as well considering the lack of cloth that some of the clothing articles actually had.
Annie had seen many other very unique things as well, but to even begin going over all that she had seen in her head would keep her busy for days.
"We're here." Hari said, breathing heavily.
"Where is here?" Annie asked looking at the Wall of houses.
"Oh right, umm, do you have any paper and something to write with?" Hari asked turning to look at Annie.
"I have a pencil, but I don't have anything to write on." Annie said pulling out a wooden pencil from her bag.
"Look to see if there is any news paper's around." Hari said as she began wandering around.
Annie joined in on the search, and after a long time, they did find paper, not a newspaper just a random sheet of paper that had been discarded. Hari quickly scratched something down on it with the pencil before handing it to her.
Number 12, Grimmauld Place
Annie looked up at Hari after reading the paper, confused; why had they spent so much time just for Hari to write that.
At that moment Annie realized that there was now a whole other house standing in front of them.
"What the…" Annie said looking at the building in confusion, wondering if she had somehow missed the building initially, or something.
"Magic is awesome isn't it?" Hari said smile as she approached the front door.
She looked nostalgic, she was happy, but also sad; this place had many memories in its walls. Annie walked up to the door with Hari; who still stood there looking at the door handle quietly.
"Does someone live here?" Annie asked looking at the door, and then at Hari.
"No, the house is mine." Hari said, the hesitation was notable in her voice, she said the truth but there was more to it than just it being Hari's house.
Hari set her hand on the doorknob but hesitated for a moment before she turned to look at Annie.
"This house is… interesting, if something looks dangerous it is, and half the things that don't look dangerous are still dangerous. Also, be quiet in the entrance there is a painting that screams if you are loud." Hari said seriously.
"Anyway, welcome to my home!" Hari said opening the door, to reveal a rather dark, damp, sad place.
The entrance was odd, there was a hallway in the middle that lead to presumably more rooms, there was a formal living room to the immediate right of the door and a stairway that followed the direction of the hallway on the left side of the door.
On the wall of the stairs was a curtain covering something; Annie took a step closer only for Hari to hiss at her.
"That's the screaming painting." Hari said whispering loudly while swinging her arms in a jester to get away from the curtain.
Annie backed away and followed Hari down the hallway before turning to the right into the kitchen of the house, the room on the left a family room of sorts. Hari opened a white box and looked around before she sighed and closed the door; she then opened several cabinets and drawers.
"There's no food. We'll have to go out sometime soon to get some." Hari sighed as she set her elbows down on the island in the middle of the kitchen.
"How are we going to get food?" Annie asked, remembering that Hari had said that the money that they used in the Walls would be useless and not to bring any of it.
"I planned on there to be food. There used to be food in here, at least the pantry should have food that was still good. We'll need to look around and see if there is any money around." Hari said though she sounded worried.
"Do you think someone has been here?" Annie asked as Hari pushed herself off the island.
"I don't know. It could have been years ago since someone's been here; no one should come here anymore, this place has no value; and it certainly hasn't been lived in, in a long time. But keep the wand close to you anyways." Hari said as they walked out of the kitchen.
They walked back through the house till they got to the front door, but instead of going outside they turned to the stairs and began going up them. Every seven or so steps there would be a door, which Hari said would lead to a bedroom, which was interesting to Annie though was the heads in between the doors.
"Those are house-elves. The Black's, the family that lived here before would put the heads of the house-elves that served them on the walls after they died. No one was ever able to remove them, because of some magic of some sort." Hari explained as they continued up the rather long flight of stairs.
They reached the top, only to be met with a small hallway filled with doors on either side. The doors led to a mixture of bedrooms and bathrooms. Hari and she would go into each and dig around to see if there was any money lost under old bedsheets or anything.
Hari did most of the looking; Annie was afraid to touch most things since apparently everything in this house was able to kill you, and she did not know how to properly identify what was dangerous and what was not.
When they arrived at the fourth bedroom door Annie sighed. "I'll head down to the kitchen and see if there is anything in the drawers; you already touched them so they should be safe right?" Annie asked.
"They are fine. If you find a secret hole or something inform me before you open it, just to be safe." Hari said as she turned to look at Annie, smiling at her in a comforting way.
Annie smiled back before she began heading to the stairs. She made her way down the stairs quickly, avoiding the house-elf heads as best she could. She got downstairs and immediately headed for the kitchen.
Annie began looking in the drawers once she got into the kitchen, the description of what the money looked like still reasonably fresh in her mind. There were a lot of draws in the kitchen, as it was actually rather large considering the size of the rest of the home, but eventually, she looked through all the drawers and cabinets, with no luck in finding any money or secret door.
She wondered if Hari would be more surprised at the lack of money or the lack of a secret door considering the insanity of the rest of the house.
Annie head a door close, Hari must have finished looking through all the bedrooms, and from how loudly the door was closed to be heard so clearly from downstairs probably meant that she had no luck in finding anything either.
A crash sounded from the stairs. Annie pulled the wand out of the bag at her side. Now much more worried about what was going on. She pressed her back to the wall between the kitchen and the hallway, listening for anything.
She racked her mind for a spell, in case Hari had hurt herself, or if someone else had hurt her.
Remembering the last time Hari had been in contact with a magic user they had tried to kidnap her Annie quickly pulled out into the hallway, the most violent spell that Hari had taught her on her lips; only to be hit with a burst of red light, sending her flying back into the wall, and passing out.
Tell me what you all think, the story is almost over so your running out of chances to.
