Hey…why don't we go down to old town and see the cherry tree. Samantha asked drying her hair. They were both getting dressed in the bedroom. Since Watanabe isn't getting in until after dark. She stretched her arms and body like a cat waking from a nap. Kuroko, knelt on the floor, adjusting the straps on her black boots that completed the new updated flexible armor. Samantha had brought it to the apartment and laid it on the bed as Kuroko was in the shower.

It was pretty much the normal. Except for an upgrade regarding the flexibility and resistance of the spider webbing mixed with nano technology. Kuroko could only shake her head as she stood up, rubbing her hand over the material snuggly wrapped around her thigh. With a nod of her head she showed her approval. she felt the slight changes in the material. Thin and light but strong enough to stop bullets. Fire resistant and best of all, tight and formfitting with extra padding in all the right places. With a flick of her wrist, her long metal spikes took their places around her thighs and a few at her waist slipping neatly into the holders. She put on another gift. A long black overcoat, wide collars, it flared out just enough for her legs to slip out as she walked. Inside pockets for necessities, even a few wraps to hold more metal spikes. She shook out the end of the coat and let it fall to her ankles.

Even in Academy City something like this would take weeks, even months to improve. But here it was only hours later.

Samantha noticing room for improvement as Kuroko's spikes had inflicted damage on her armor. Nothing fatal. But to someone other than a vampire of her classification it might have been. This new improved model covered the body from the chin down to the ankles. Skintight form fitting and stretchable fabric. Steel reinforced boots protected their feet. Yet the entire thing weighed no more than a sun dress perhaps.

Kinda long…don't cha think….looking down. Kuroko flipped her long red hair over the collar.

Please…Samantha said with a smirk, think how badass you'll look. Spinning around….metal spikes flying, bullets spraying…ack ack ack…she fired her imaginary machine gun. You need to look the badass part…think of all the cool heroes and bad dudes in the movies….dark glasses, dark clothes, and long dark coats…come on!

Don't the bad dudes usually get killed. She said, checking the arm length of the coat. Perfect of course. She knew they had her measurements.

Only in your movies…Samantha laughed.

She'd just finished putting on the same armor. She flipped her wet long blonde hair as she shook her head filling the space between them.

Hey! Kuroko raised her arm, ducked her head. You're getting me…she stopped.

What? Faking a dumbfounded look. Samantha's jaw dropped.

I'm not finishing that sentence….. Why? Samantha tilted her head.

You know…why…and go finish drying your hair…Kuroko groaned and under her breath, whispered, pervert.

I can hear you…Samantha musically answered as she walked into the bathroom. The sound of the hair dryer turned on.

In the shadows of the gleaming metropolis of Sakura City, existed the past. An area nearly half the size of the city that consisted of old city. Now looking more like the warehouse districts of other cities around the world . An area was cut off from the new by a thirty meter tall wall of brick and stone. And reminder of the violent past of the island. While the Island had not suffered through the war. They had battles of their own. The tallest buildings were only around fifteen stories tall…not thirty or forty or over one hundred stories tall like the city next door. Many of these structures looked to have been taking from the 1930's and 1940's Japan.

This area dominated by networks of backstreets leading to small bars, no more than two stories, and red light districts of brothels. With narrow pedestrian streets that came alive with an eclectic mix of vampires, wolves, and humans at night. And beyond nestled between green patches of forest, small and quaint neighborhoods, and apartments. This is where the families resided. The only area that abided by one rule. Do no harm to others.

They were charming neighborhoods of careful mix of modern and traditional home styles. Much of it taking its cues from neighborhoods such as Asakusa, Kosoan and Kawagoe…And pass them was the garden district of Sakura Island.

Kuroko and Samantha left the building, walked a few blocks, and jumped on an old style trolley that would take them straight through the neighborhoods to the garden.
