"How do we fix the clock?" Molly dared to ask breaking the silence that had fallen over the room, "It's guarded, remember?"
Christina drummed her fingers against the table as she thought, "We need a diversion,"
"A large one," Shaggy added.
"It could take someone days to fix that clock, it's a hot mess!" Daphne lamented.
"Who said it only had to be one person?" Melissa's eyes swept over the room.
"A team!" Christina declared, "We assemble a team!"
"Who?" Molly pressed.
"Velma, Frankie, Robecca, and Ghoulia could do it," Christina replied, "That is if they're up for it,"
The girls in question eagerly nodded their agreement.
"We still need a diversion," Fred solemnly reminded the excited group.
Christina went back to drumming her fingers against the table in deep thought while the others spit-balled ideas.
"I'm guessing we need a BIG diversion?", Duncan smirked, cracking his knuckles.
"I like where your head is at, Hot-Stuff", Clawdeen grinned.
"Hey, Deuce", Duncan called. "Are you ready to totally cut loose?"
"It's time that the Horde got STONED, Dude", the gorgon nodded.
"But if Drew gets hurt so does Christina!" Daphne pointed out.
"Still," Christina mused, "Going to battle is a perfect distraction,"
"They could try to nab you again," Molly said.
"Not if she has protection," Shaggy replied.
"But what if they figure out what we're up to?" Frankie asked.
"Guards, we'll station guards," Christina decided, "You game, Melissa?"
"Oh yeah! Let me go find Richard so I can get my bow back,"
…...
Melissa found her husband locked in a staredown with Carmen, her mother, she still wasn't quite sure what to make of that.
"Richard?"
He didn't respond. Melissa rolled her eyes, "RICHARD!"
He jumped turning to face her, a bewildered look on his face. "What? What's the matter? Are you all alright? Should I get the-"
"I'm fine but we," she moved her arms to indicate all three of them, "Need to be in the other room, it's important,"
"What's going on?"
"We're going to war,"
"War?" he choked, "When? Why, well, I know why but what happened to getting us-"
"Does he normally do that?" Carmen asked as Richard blabbered on.
"He's been locked up for at least three years," Melissa explained, "And with all, that's going on he hasn't had time to process,"
"Ah, when will he stop?"
Melissa slapped him across the face.
"OWW, Honeybee, was that needed?"
"You were babbling,"
"Still," Richard stressed, holding his stinging cheek, "I think I'm bleeding!"
"Lemme see," Melissa coaxed, examining her husband, "No, you're good," she grabbed his arm, pulling him into the next room.
…...
Across town at that very moment Drew and his allies were having a similar meeting.
"Our goal," he stressed, "Is to cripple the heroes and regain control before they figure out how to get back,"
"So Christina isn't important anymore?" Torq questioned sheepishly.
Drew smacked him across the face.
"OF COURSE SHE'S IMPORTANT YOU IDIOT!" He yelled, "Once the heroes are defeated I'll make sure she never leaves my side again!"
"But, how are we supposed to cripple the heroes?" Moanica deadpanned, "They're very resilient,"
"War," Drew chuckled, "We're going to war,"
…...
"I don't think you should get involved," Richard argued, "You're still hurt,"
"I'm fine," Melissa responded, filling her quiver with arrows.
Around the room, swords were being sharpened, powers warmed up, armor polished. Every precaution was being taken to ensure safety.
"Still," he stressed, "I am not okay with this,"
"And I," Melissa calmly replied, "Was asked to do this by Christina. Ya know? The Princess?
She had him. Melissa knew she had him. Richard sighed, defeated pulling her against him.
"I'll be okay, you're going to be right there,"
"And so will I," Carmen nodded.
"She isn't on the front lines," Christina chuckled, "You guys just have to guard the clock tower,"
"And the repair team," Shaggy added, "The real job is keeping her safe," he slung his arm around Christina's shoulders.
"Luckily she has us for that," Clawdeen said as she and her siblings entered.
"You guys find anything?" Molly questioned.
"Drew's prepping his army, preparing to attack us,"
"Then let's get moving," Christina declared, "The sooner the clock is fixed the sooner we go home,"
"You heard the Princess!" Molly cried, "Move out!"
,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The sun was setting as the two armies marched. The repair team snuck ahead slipping expertly into the clock tower after Melissa knocked out the few guards who were stationed there.
"Battle's starting," Frankie whispered, peeking out the window.
"Let's get to work girls," Velma declared.
"Yeah, I want to go home," Robecca agreed.
On the street, before the tower, the two armies met.
"Just give up now, Princess, give up and come home-"
"Never" Christina cut him off, "ATTACK!"
The sounds of clashing metal and screams filled the air. Danny and Molly took on Vlad and his allies in the sky. The Wolf family surrounded Christina, tearing into any minions who foolishly dared to get close. Shaggy went after Drew, fighting with restraint as he didn't wish to injure his wife. Meanwhile, Duncan charged through the battle cutting down every Horde member, Zomboy, and klown that got in his way. Back and forth the battle waged, seemingly locked in a stalemate as neither side seemed to gain the upper hand.
"This isn't going so hot," Melissa whispered as she fired arrows sniper-style through the nearest window.
"Agreed," Richard nodded, "How goes the repairs?"
"They're working on it," Carmen declared as she returned.
Shaggy and Drew were in the center of the battle. Most of their fight consisted of Shaggy ducking, blocking, and shielding his face. Drew had magic and wasn't pulling any punches, mocking Shaggy as he went
"Just think, ten years Christina loved me with no recollection of you. Ten years of her bending over backward to please me and once I win she will be again!"
Shaggy was so enraged he slugged Drew only to freeze. Turning to Christina he realized she was unharmed and completely unaffected, her back to him as she continued taking out minions.
Drew hissed as he got up to keep fighting
"DREW, LIKE, ISN'T CONNECTED TO CHISTINA ANYMORE!", Shaggy shouted over the din of battle, then prepared to fight without restraint.
"THAT MEANS YOU'RE MINE, DREW!", a voice roared, a voice that felt like ice-water down Drew's back as he turned to see Duncan flying right at him! Drew barely shielded himself with magic in time! The enraged kaiju prince pressed his claws into the shield fighting the pain. Drew strained to hold the shield, but Duncan's clawed hand still slowly, inexorably came closer!
"NO! IMPOSSIBLE!", the vampire screamed as Duncan grabbed the amulet containing his mother's blood and tore it away from him! Duncan grabbed Drew, flames in his mouth. Drew's face was a mask of terror and panic.
"Stop, Duncan!", Shaggy ordered. "He's, like, MINE!"
"As you wish, Prince Norville", Duncan grinned. "But first..."
Duncan then painfully crippled the bat-wings on Drew's back!
"There's no flying away from THIS fight, you stinking coward!", Duncan smirked as he bodily tossed the vampire to the werewolf prince.
Shaggy let loose on Drew, the vampires' shrieks of pain audible over the sounds of battle.
Inside the clock tower, Melissa came to check the progress of repairs
"Well?"
"Almost done!" Velma said.
"How long have you been working on it?"
"A few hours now,"
"Really? It's been that long?"
"Yep,"
"Hurry would you?"
"We're working on it,"
Outside, the battle waged back and forth. Shaggy continued to pummel Drew, Duncan continued to slice through minions while up in the sky Danny, Molly, and Dani fought Vlad and his allies. Vlad had blood pouring down his face while the minions fell to the ground, being trampled by those fighting on the ground.
"How much longer?" Molly grunted.
"I have no idea," Danny replied.
Back inside the tower, the girls were giddy.
"Almost done!" Frankie cheered.
"Ready?" Robecca questioned.
"Yes!" they exclaimed.
"Here goes nothing," Velma whispered sliding the last piece into place.
Outside. the minute-hand clunked forward to toll midnight, a bell that had never been heard before, yet everyone knew what it was!
"NNNNOOOOOOOO!", Drew screamed.
In a flash of light, a figure appeared in the midst of the battle and froze almost everyone in Time with a tap of his cane.
"DAD!", Robecca squealed in delight from a window in the clock-tower, and in a similar flash she disappeared and reappeared in front of her father; Hexiciah Steam, Timewalker.
"Hullo, my daughter", he smiled as they hugged. He restarted Time, the battle now stopped. Another flash and Grace Bloodgood appeared.
"What?! Where?! I was just with the children and...Hexiciah?!"
"Hullo, my Love", he smiled just before she grabbed the lapels of his vest, pulling him down to kiss him fiercely!
"We can go home now!" Molly cheered.
"What about them?" Melissa asked, bursting out of the clock tower, pointing to the villains, "And, what about those we haven't found?"
Christina smiled, "I had more search parties sent out anyone they found was taken to the school,"
…...
Melissa ran off to the school, bursting inside, "Jenny!" she yelled, "JENNY!"
She searched one room after the other, scanning the crowd desperately.
"JENNY!"
She was nowhere to be found. Dejectedly, Melissa slipped out of the school, sitting down on the steps,
"Honeybee?"
"Go away,"
"Couldn't find her?"
"I said, go away," Melissa's voice cracked.
"I'll take that as a yes,"
"I-I don't k-know-"
"Come on," Richard pulled her to her feet, "Let's get some answers,"
The crowd was clustered around the bound villains yelling and generally causing a ruckus. Richard pushed through the crowd, guiding Melissa, acting as if she could break into pieces.
"Melissa?" Christina asked gently, "What's the matter?"
"Jenny's nowhere to be found,"
Harley and Ivy's face morphed to match their sister.
Christina turned to Ghoulia, "Any record of her?"
Ghoulia nodded yes but seemed crestfallen.
"She's dead? Isn't she?" Melissa questioned.
Ghoulia nodded again.
Melissa spun to where Drew was being held, "KILL HIM, KILL HIM FOR WHAT HE'S DONE!"
"KILL THEM!"
"KILL THEM!"
"KILL THEM!"
"NO!" Christina shouted, silencing the crowd. "We will not execute them. If we did, we would be no better than they are! Nor will I throw them in the dungeon when we return home."
"Then what will you do with them?", Duncan asked with equal parts confusion and disappointment as he restrained the vampire. He had ssssooooo wanted to execute Drew by fire himself!
"I'm going to set them free", Christina said calmly. This set off a wave of confusion and disbelief through the crowd, and a great many protests!
"Silence!", she commanded, then walked calmly up to Drew to look in his eyes. "You wanted a kingdom of your own so badly? Then you will have one. We will return home to our own realm; while you and your allies will remain HERE, in this town, in this realm. FOREVER."
Drew blanched as cheers went up.
"NO! YOU CAN'T LEAVE US HERE WITH NOTHING!", Drew screamed, echoed by the others as Duncan shoved him into them with a chuckle.
"One more thing, you cowardly pile of bat guano", Duncan laughed as he held Drew's amulet in front of him...and crushed it! "No more magic for you!"
"NNNOOOOOOOO!", he screamed in despair, hearing the faint voice of his mother scream as it faded away from his mind while her blood evaporated into the air.
"As for you, Vlad," Danny said turning to his battered foe, "Once we return to our realm, Princess Christina will strip you of your powers and you'll be put in exile along with your allies. Given time I'm sure you'll turn over a new leaf,"
"Gather the others," Christina smiled, "It's time we go home,"
Once the heroes had gone, Drew was forced to flee for his life.
…...
"It's exactly the same," Christina gasped in shock.
Everyone had reappeared where they'd been when the curse swept in. Christina found herself in front of the window, her chair still knocked askew from where she had knocked it aside in a hurry to stand.
All over the kingdom, they reappeared.
Melissa and Richard in their home.
Ivy in the castle gardens,
Danny and molly in the skies.
Everyone exactly where they had been.
Exactly as it should have been.
Except it wasn't.
…...
"It's beautiful," Melissa sighed sadly, standing before the empty grave that honored Jenny.
"As it should be," Richard nodded, wrapping an arm around her shaking shoulders.
Harley and Ivy hung their heads in respectful silence, hands reaching for Melissa's shaking ones.
Richard turned his head, barely catching a glance of Carmen's red cloak as it slipped away. No one knew where she went to but they all knew why she disappeared. She was stealing.
His thoughts were disrupted as Melissa laid her head on his shoulder and at that moment he knew he at least had to be civil with Carmen.
For Melissa's sake.
…...
"How are you feeling?" Draculaura asked Clawdeen.
"Ready,"
"Really?" Christina questioned with a smirk.
"Okay, I'm a little nervous,"
"Just butterflies," Christina assured her, "Once you walk out those doors, Duncan's all that matters,"
"Are you sure?"
"Would I lie to you?"
Frankie poked her head in, "It's time,"
…...
Time had frozen in tier home realm as well, the only ones taken were those of Christina's kingdom, those on the outside were excluded, kept safe. Clawdeen remembered this with a smile as she took her father's arm and glided down the aisle, smiling as she passed by Duncan's parents who watched with smiles of their own as she come to stand before Duncan at the altar.
The wedding went perfectly with no uninvited guests and it got Shaggy thinking...
…...
"A redo?" Christina asked, perplexed.
"Yes," Shaggy nodded eagerly.
"But, Shaggy," she sighed, "My coronation, you remember to make things official? That's two days from now,"
"We can do them at the same time,"
"You aren't going to let this go are you?"
"Please, Please, please?"
"Okay."
and so it was done, the coronation became a wedding that just happened to proclaim Christina queen. This time there was no dethroned psycho vampire to crash it. Everything was finally secure, finally safe, a weight lifted off the shoulders of the former New Salem residents who were all in attendance. All smiling.
Safe.
Happy.
As you might have guessed they lived Happily Ever After.
…...
FINALLY! DONE FINISHED NO MORE!
Let this be an example of biting off more than you can chew LOL.
Anyway, yes, the ending might be rushed but it's one in the morning and I have no more patience.
It's done.
No more.
Big thank you to, DRAGONDAVE45, without him this story would have bit the dust a long, long time ago.
