Midoriya gripped his hand tightly. The pain was agonizing but he'd managed to keep the damage to a minimum this time.
He could still fight.
"That was awesome, Midoriya!" Mineta peered up at him in awe. "Crazy but awesome! I never knew you could fight like that!"
Midoriya slid his brace down his arm and over his injured hand.
"It was a lucky shot. That could've just as easily failed." The notion made his stomach twist uncomfortably.
After Kagome and Eraser had charged into the fray, the class had gotten separated by a villain with a warping quirk. They'd made it clear that All Might was their target but they weren't above killing students to get a rise out of him.
He'd nearly been killed too. The only reason why he was alive now was because Asui had pulled him from the water where he'd been warped to.
He'd managed to come up with a last second plan with Asui and Mineta to get rid of those villains. However after escaping from them, his fingers were now busted. He couldn't use his arm yet. Not until they had a better idea of what they were facing.
"We should check on Mr. Aizawa and Higurashi. I'm not saying we charge into the middle of a battle but maybe we can pick off a few of the villains to lighten their load."
Midoriya knew that he couldn't leave Kagome on her own out there. Even if Recovery Girl had healed her injury, she still had limited endurance. She would only last about thirty minutes or so before her quirk would go into overdrive and make her come down with another fever.
The fevers alone weren't the only problem either.
Kagome's judgement and reaction time also slowed considerably once the fevers hit. So she'd be a very easy target to pick off if she was forced to fight beyond her time limit.
"Are you crazy! You've seen what those guys can do!" Mineta turned on him. "We should just head for the exit!"
Midoriya's lips thinned at that, "Listen, all I'm saying is that we should check up on the situation. If things look okay then we'll leave."
He had a bad feeling about this.
He didn't want to leave them on their own. Not when they weren't suited to long term, endurance battles. They would need backup.
Midoriya pinned the other two with a short glance, "Once we're certain that they have everything under control then we'll get out of here."
It was the only thing they could do at this point.
Asui pressed her index finger to her chin, "I don't like this Midoriya but if you say that you're not charging in to fight then I'll go with you."
They started to walk forward. Mineta trailed behind them cautiously as they made their way around the center courtyard.
Midoriya focused his gaze on the group fighting at the center.
Just a little longer.
