He wasn't really sure how long they'd been there at that point, but it had to have been at least a while. Judging by the way his sweetheart was huddled up against him, paired with the light shiver he felt from her every so often, he figured that they'd been out for long enough.
"...GETTING COLD?"
"A little..."
Undyne let out a fairly big yawn. Her mouthful of pointed teeth became ever more apparent, but they failed to intimidate the skeleton.
"WANT TO START HEADING HOME? I DOUBT IT'S A GOOD IDEA FOR YOU TO FALL ASLEEP IN WEATHER LIKE THIS."
"Yeah, you'd be right. That's one way to get hypothermia...Is it me, or is the snow picking up?"
He looked up at the snowfall. It was still considerably light, but it'd definitely picked up a little since they arrived.
"HMM...NYES, SO IT SEEMS," he nodded. "THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT I DON'T THINK IT'S GOING TO GET MUCH WORSE THAN THIS, SO WE SHOULD BE FINE ALONG THE WAY."
"That's good..." she murmured as she reluctantly pried herself away from him and stood up, trying her best to ignore the pins and needles that'd settled in her legs as she grabbed Papyrus by the hand and hoisted him back up onto his feet.
"How long have we been out here, anyway?"
"WELL, WE LEFT A FEW MINUTES PAST ELEVEN. HERE, LET ME SEE..."
The skeleton pulled his phone out and checked the time, and his eye sockets got just a bit(although not alarmingly) wider.
"...WE'VE BEEN OUT HERE FOR ALMOST FOUR HOURS."
"Four hours, huh? Not bad for a first date."
"I SHOULD SAY," he agreed as they started down the eastward path again, hand in hand. "HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO THIS AGAIN SOMETIME?"
"Sounds like a plan, my man...Though honestly, right now I'd rather be in the house where it's warm."
"WE'LL GET THERE...HEY, JUST A THOUGHT. WOULD YOU PERHAPS BE INTERESTED IN PLAYING YOUR PIANO FOR A FEW MINUTES WHEN WE GET HOME? TO SET UP A COZY ATMOSPHERE, LIKE YOU SAID SOME OF YOUR PIECES COULD? I DON'T KNOW, JUST AN IDEA I HAD, IS ALL..."
"No, I wouldn't mind that, actually...Hey, that piece I played at Grillby's yesterday called 'Sweden'? I actually found it in the trash zone with a bunch of other pieces. It's sort of like a collection of songs, I think...They all have REALLY weird names, though. Like, weirder than any other title I've seen."
"WHAT ARE THEY CALLED?"
"I mean, come on, humans. 'Subwoofer Lullaby?' 'Mice on Venus?' 'Wet Hands?' 'DRY HANDS?' I guess that's the sequel, or something...? Really, some of their song names just make absolutely no sense. I can understand someone writing a song about nature, or animals or stuff like that, but...A song about wet hands? If you ask me, that's kinda ridiculous. Their music-writing skills might be on point, but not their song-naming skills...At least something like 'Haggstrom' sounds like it could be normal. Like some other type o' language from he surface...How 'bout I play you that one?"
"CERTAINLY! AND AFTERWARD, I CAN GRAB US A BLANKET AND WE CAN SNUGGLE UP ON THE COUCH AND GET ALL WARM AND COZY."
"I just might take you up on that. And I don't have to be at Grillby's tonight, so we've got all the time in the world today for that."
"WELL, I'M CERTAINLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT."
A stronger gust of wind breezed by, penetrating the warmth of Undyne's jacket and sending a cold shudder up her spine. Papyrus responded to this by letting go of her hand and putting an arm around her, reducing the space between them to nothing.
"...SORRY IF I'M NOT ABLE TO KEEP YOU WARM VERY WELL OUT HERE, UNDYNE," he apologized. "SINCE WE LACK SKIN AND WHATNOT, WE SKELETONS DON'T REALLY GENERATE A LOT OF BODY HEAT."
"Huh...I never really noticed that...Don't worry about it, though. You're still plenty warm to me."
"THAT MIGHT JUST BE MY OUTFIT."
"I dunno 'bout that, Papyrus. I've huddled up with you plenty o' times, and I always thought the same thing."
"YOU DID?"
"Yep..."
"NYEH HEH...WELL, I'M GLAD YOU THINK SO," he smiled. "...YOU DON'T THINK SANS IS WORRIED ABOUT US, DO YOU?"
"After four hours? Can't say for sure...I mean, I can understand him still bein' kinda iffy about all this, but he'll get used to it at some point, won't he?"
"HOPEFULLY...HM...NYEH HEH."
"What?"
"HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH..."
"What's so funny?"
"...YOU'VE GOT SNOW IN YOUR HAIR."
"Oh. Guess it fell from the trees here."
"THAT'S ALRIGHT. I THINK IT LOOKS..."
He paused for a moment, a cheeky grin spreading across his face.
"...COOL."
It took a moment for Undyne to realize what he just did, but once it dawned on her, they both burst out laughing.
"Ah ha ha...Oh, your brother's gotta step up his game."
"HE'LL NEVER BEAT US IN THE PUN DEPARTMENT!"
"Hey! What's goin' on over there!?"
They jumped at the third voice, and turned around to see a somewhat grumpy-looking deer monster peering at them from a short distance, mandibles twitching slightly with annoyance and the pine needles on his antlers slightly unkempt. It looked as though he'd just woken up from a long nap.
"Oh...It's you two. For a second there I thought it was more teenagers comin' down here with those gosh darn googly eyes and stuff to stick onto me again."
"OH, DEAR...SORRY ABOUT THAT, GYFTROT. DID WE DISTURB YOU?"
"Eh...It's about time I got up and did somethin', anyways. So what're you two doin' out and about this place, huh?"
"Oh, we just got back from a rendezvous at the Ruins. Nice out, ain't it?"
"A...'rahn-day-voo?'" Gyftrot repeated, apparently unfamiliar with the term(he did live in the woods, after all, so it was understandable.) "What's that s'posed to be?"
"OH, YOU KNOW, LIKE A DATE."
"Oh. I see..."
He turned to leave, but then once he processed what'd been said, his head jolted up, ears perking, and he turned to face them again.
"Wait...You mean a DATE-date?"
They nodded.
"As in...You two are..."
"YES, SIR!"
"...Huh. Last thing I expected was a guy like you to end up with the former Captain of the Guard, of all people." he remarked, intrigued by whatever events might've lead to this happening. "You two didn't seem like the type to mix like that...Whatever, it ain't any o' my business, really. You two have a good time, then, I guess."
With that said, he trotted off into the winter foliage and vanished among the trees.
"...He's kinda rough around the edges, ain't he, now?" Undyne commented.
"OH, HE'S NOT SO BAD ONCE YOU GET TO KNOW HIM. HE'S JUST MORE OF AN...OH, HOW DO I PUT THIS...INTROVERT, I SUPPOSE. PREFERS HIS OWN COMPANY."
"I prefer the company of other people, myself."
"I'M ANOTHER PERSON!"
"Heh heh..."
She grabbed him by the face again and stole a kiss.
"...You're the best one I could ever enjoy being around."
"N'AW...YOU'RE THE SAME."
...
"How much you willin' to bet that Sans is gonna be standin' right there when we open the door?"
"HMM...IF THERE WERE ACTUAL MONEY INVOLVED, PROBABLY 15G. NOTHING IS GUARENTEED, OF COURSE...WE'RE ABOUT TO FIND OUT, THOUGH."
He turned the knob and pushed the front door open, then proceeded to scan the room.
"...HUH."
Contrary to his expectations, Sans actually wasn't standing right inside the door waiting for them...Nor was he anywhere else in the living room. And the multi-colored lights that usually flashed from underneath his door whenever he was in there were gone, so he couldn't be in there.
"...ODD. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH HE'S NOT HERE."
"Like, at all?"
He shook his head.
"...Where do you think he went?"
"boo."
"AH!"
They each let out perfectly synchronized screams at the phantom voice, and after jumping clean out of their boots, the two of them quickly turned around to face its owner.
"hey...you said it was creepy, so i decided to make somethin' of it."
"MY GOD, SANS! YOU SCARED US HALFWAY TO DUSTING!"
"Agh...Dude..." Undyne huffed, a hand over her still racing heart. "...Don't do that, man."
"PLEASE, SANS. YOU'LL GIVE UNDYNE A HEART ATTACK ONE OF THESE DAYS."
"what about you?"
"WE DON'T HAVE HEARTS, SANS."
"Hah...That makes it sound like you two are cold, uncaring brutes," the fish monster commented, still getting over her initial shock as they all stepped into the house.
"US? NASTY, VILE AND UNLOVING? THAT'S UNFATHOMABLE! WHO WOULD EVER HAVE SUCH AN IDEA?"
"Not me."
"JUST...MAYBE PULL PRANKS ON US IN MORE SUBTLE WAYS FROM HERE ON OUT, ALRIGHT, BROTHER?"
"i'll curb my impulses," Sans chortled. "...so how'd it go?"
"OH, IT WAS SPLENDID."
"went well, huh? what'd you guys do at the ruins?"
"WELL, FLOWEY MET US BOTH THERE, AND WE HAD OURSELVES QUITE A LIVELY CONVERSATION!"
"Yeah...Guy does impressions, you know?"
"impressions, huh?" the shorter skeleton echoed, raising a somewhat skeptical eyebrow. "how so?"
"HE CHANGES THE LOOK OF HIS FACE TO RESEMBLE OTHER MONSTERS AND IMPERSONATES THEIR VOICE ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESSLY! YOU SHOULD REALLY SEE IT!"
"huh...besides boss monsters?"
"You kiddin'? He did an impression of me, and I was blown away."
"hm..." he nodded, now seeming a bit more intrigued. "...maybe i would like to see somethin' like that."
"HOW ABOUT YOU TWO INVITE HIM TO GRILLBY'S WITH YOU SOMETIME AFTER HE COMES BACK FROM HIS TRIP?"
"Hot dang, sounds great!"
"eh...guess so...do anything else over there?"
"WELL, WE SAT UP AGAINST THE DOOR TO THE RUINS FOR A WHILE. NOT MUCH ELSE...BUT SOMETIMES LESS IS MORE, WOULDN'T YOU SAY?"
"Nice out today...Still a little cold for my liking, but I think I'm finally gettin' used to it."
"not freezin' your rear end off so much anymore?"
"Nope."
"heh...guess that's a good thing...you two gonna head down to waterfall, too, at some point?"
"ERM...WE WEREN'T REALLY PLANNING ON ANY TRAINING DOWN THERE TODAY, I DON'T THINK," Papyrus decided, his girlfriend nodding in agreement. "UNDYNE OFFERED TO PLAY ONE OF HER PIANO PIECES FOR ME, AND AFTERWARDS WE WERE JUST GOING TO TAKE IT EASY."
"in that case, you mind if i make the dinner tonight?"
"DO I MIND? NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST! ESPECIALLY IF IT KEEPS YOU AWAY FROM GRILLBY'S OFTEN ENOUGH. NYEH HEH HEH HEH...HEH...SO WHAT DID YOU PLAN TO MAKE?"
"found it in the cook book undyne here gave me. minestrone. you'd probably appreciate it, papyrus."
"WHAT EXACTLY IS THIS 'MINESTRONE' YOU SPEAK OF? IT SOUNDS LIKE A PASTA OF SOME SORT, AND THAT FACT ESPECIALLY INTRIGUES ME."
"it's vegetable soup."
"OH..." he answered, deflating a bit.
"...with pasta in it."
"WAIT, WHAT? REALLY?"
"no joke."
"WELL, THEN! THAT'S! BETTER! THAN JUST VEGETABLE SOUP! BY A LOT!"
"I'm on board," Undyne agreed, flashing a thumbs up.
"sweet. imma go get started, then."
"OOH, TELL ME IF YOU NEED HELP AT ALL, BROTHER! I'D BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO ASSIST IN THE MAKING OF THIS VEGEABLE PASTA SOUP YOU SPEAK OF!"
"it's pretty simple; i prob'ly won't need any help."
"JUST IN CASE!"
"eh...i'll keep that in mind."
"Hey, I'm gonna go change into my knock-around clothes real quick. The sleeves of this thing ain't the best for stretchin' your hands two octaves on the ivories, you know?"
"CERTAINLY, M'LADY!"
She flashed him a grin, then exited the house again and headed to the garage, leaving the two brothers to their own accords.
"I THINK I'LL DO THE SAME. THE SWEATER VEST IS DAPPER, NO DOUBT, BUT I CAN PRACTICALLY HEAR MY BATTLE BODY CALLING OUT TO ME."
"so...went well, did it?"
"WHAT? OH, THE DATE...YES, INDEED. THERE SHOULD BE PLENTY MORE IN THE FUTURE!"
"...just wanna say i'm proud of you, okay?"
He sounded sincere, but the forlorn sigh that followed afterward indicated that he still wasn't completely on board with the whole ordeal.
"...YOU'RE STILL WORRIED ABOUT ALL OF THIS, AREN'T YOU?"
"i know what you said, but...i dunno, man it's just..."
"YOU WEREN'T EXPECTING A CHANGE LIKE THIS?"
"...guess you could put it that way."
"WELL...TRY NOT TO DWELL ON IT TOO MUCH, SANS. IF YOU KEEP WORRYING YOURSELF OVER IT, YOU'LL BECOME A NERVOUS WRECK."
"i'm already a nervous wreck."
Papyrus' eye sockets widened a bit. He was a little confused by this seemingly false claim.
"...YOU DON'T ACT LIKE YOU ARE. YOU ACT LAID-BACK AND SLEEPY AS THOUGH YOU HAVEN'T A CARE IN THE WORLD."
"i'm good at hiding things, remember?"
"ADMITTEDLY TRUE...BUT WHY DO YOU FEEL THE NEED TO HIDE THINGS? I'M YOUR BROTHER, SANS. I CARE ABOUT YOU AS MUCH AS I DO MY DEAR UNDYNE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HIDE ANYTHING FROM ME, DO YOU?"
"bro...if you knew some of the things i did, you'd be just as bad off as i was...you might even turn into a lazy trash bag like i did."
"WHAT DO YOU KNOW THAT I DON'T, SANS?"
"you wouldn't get anything out of it."
"I CAN PROBABLY GET YOU TO FEEL BETTER ABOUT IT."
"it doesn't even affect your life."
"BUT IT AFFECTS YOURS, AND THAT'S WHAT I'M WORRIED ABOUT."
"...you can't do anything about it."
"I CAN DO SOMETHING! JUST KNOWING ABOUT WHATEVER IT IS ALONG WITH YOU MIGHT HELP, WHO KNOWS?"
It was on the tip of his imaginary tongue, and it wanted to spill. The Saves, the Resets, that he saw everybody get their happy ending, only for it to be torn away and never gotten back, for everyone to be killed ruthlessly, hundreds upon hundreds of times with no hope of escaping the loop...He wanted to tell someone. He always had. But nobody would have ever believed him.
...But what would it do to his brother if he found out? Would it break his spirit just like it broke his? Turn him into an apathetic slouch that thought caring about anything at all would be a burden to him, since he knew it could be torn away any moment?
And there were other things that'd come up since Frisk came and left, as well. She had apparently usurped Flowey's powers when she fell, and there hadn't been a Reset since. And then it turned out that Flowey was really the soulless husk of the deceased Prince Asriel, accidentally created by the now also deceased Dr. Alphys during her DETERMINATION experiments that resulted in the Amalgamates. And now, for some reason, he had his SOUL back, and had promised that he would never do any of the things he did as Flowey ever again...Was it really worth knowing? Especially now that they had all progressed so much since then? Sans saw that he was finally starting to straighten himself out for the better, Undyne had mostly gotten over her losses from last year, and now she and Papyrus were dating, and they were the happiest he'd ever seen either of them in a long time...
He almost failed to realize it, but for the first time in a long time from his perspective, he had something to hope for; freedom. Not from the mountain, but from the time loops, the chaos, and all of the things that Flowey...no, not Flowey...Asriel had sworn never to ensue again. At last. After so long...
His fake smile became a bit more genuine once it dawned on him.
"...you know what, bro?" he said to Papyrus, looking up at him, eyes flickering a bit of relief. "i just had a revelation."
"WHAT'D YOU FIND OUT?"
"about what's buggin' me...you probably won't believe me, but i...don't think it matters anymore. to anyone. even me."
"WHAT MAKES YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND ALL OF A SUDDEN?"
"oh, i just put two and two together, is all."
The taller skeleton was searching hard for it, but he failed to find any spark of dishonesty in his brother's eye sockets.
"WELL...IF YOU SAY SO," he answered him. "...I STILL WOULD LIKE TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT IS, THOUGH, SINCE IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE ANYWAY."
"well...i'm not one to ask, really."
"THEN WHO AM I TO ASK?"
"...flowey. next time you see him, ask him. he knows a thing or two."
"FLOWEY?"
"he can explain it better than i can...just do me a favor."
"WHAT?"
"...don't step on him when he spills the beans."
"WHY WOULD I EVER DO THAT TO MY GOOD LITTLE FLOWER FRIEND?"
"...he wasn't always so good. just gonna say that now."
"NO?"
"why do you think i looked so pissed at him when we met up at the trash zone?"
"OH...YOU KNOW HIM FROM BACK THEN?"
"yeah. you could say that...think it's safe to say he's changed, but just in case, imma still keep an eye out for him."
"I SHOULD THINK. HE'S VERY PLEASENT TO BE AROUND."
"...i guess he would be now."
"JUST TRY NOT TO WORRY YOURSELF TOO MUCH ABOUT US. I APPRECIATE THAT YOU CARE ABOUT US, AND YOU CARE ABOUT MY WELL-BEING, BUT YOU HAVE OTHER THINGS TO FOCUS ON, TOO...LIKE NOT BEING SO LAZY ANYMORE! YOU'RE REALLY IMPROVING QUITE A BIT IN THAT AREA, I'VE SEEN, YOU KNOW?"
"yeah...guess we've all improved a bit over the past few months, haven't we?"
"I SHOULD SAY...AND AS FOR YOUR CONCERNS ABOUT ME AND UNDYNE, REST ASSURED THAT IF THERE IS EVER A PROBLEM BETWEEN US, YOU WILL BE THE FIRST ONE I GO TO FOR HELP. SO YOU'LL KNOW FOR SURE IF THERE IS A PROBLEM...BUT ALSO REST ASSURED THAT I HAVE A VERY GOOD FEELING ABOUT THE TWO OF US BEING TOGETHER. THINGS WILL CONTINUE TO FALL INTO PLACE AS TIME GOES ON...A LOT OF THINGS ALREADY HAVE, AND I, FOR ONE, AM MORE THAN CONTENT. YOU SHOULD BE, TOO...YOU DESERVE TO BE."
"...heh."
Papyrus was quick to notice what looked like tears forming in the corners of Sans' eye sockets, his smile wobbling a bit.
"SANS? Y-YOU'RE...ARE YOU CRYING?"
"sorry..."
The taller skeleton didn't hesitate to drop to his knee right then and there and draw his poor brother into a comforting hug.
"...IT'S ALL GOING TO BE ALRIGHT, SANS."
"yeah...i know...i really know this time that it's gonna be alright, and it's great..."
They both tightened their hold on each other just a bit more. Papyrus was on the verge of spilling a few tears himself; he couldn't remember the last time he'd seen his brother actually cry, and he didn't know until now just how much he HATED seeing him upset like this.
"...YOU'VE NOTHING TO CRY ABOUT, SANS. I'M HERE. UNDYNE'S HERE...WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER, ALRIGHT?"
"i know...th-they're happy tears, okay?"
"ARE THEY, REALLY?"
"y-yeah..."
"...I'VE FOUND THAT EVER SINCE ASGORE PASSED AWAY, A LOT OF HAPPY TEARS HAVE BEEN MIXED IN WITH SORROWFUL ONES...I SUPPOSE THAT'S A GOOD THING, KNOWING THAT THE DEEPER THE SADNESS, THE MORE HOPE THERE IS FOR SOMETHING GOOD TO COME OUT OF IT...IT'S FUNNY IN A WAY, ISN'T IT?"
"the good kind of funny..." Sans sniveled.
"EASY, THERE..."
He'd been holding back so many fears, so many regrets and sorrows for so long, thinking that he would never break loose from the curse brought on by the Resets, over and over again for perhaps a hundred years in his perspective. And now, for the most part, they had all suddenly disappeared. Flowey had a SOUL. He had empathy. He made a promise. And contrary to what every citizen of the Underground had expected, so many other wonderful things had happened ever since. Friendships had been formed. Torn families had been reunited. Bonds strengthened. Romance blossoming.
For the first time in forever, the future...HIS future, and the future of everyone...actually looked bright.
And with half his worries vanished half of the tears he thought would spill. Even if he hadn't spoken a word of them.
Sans pulled away and wiped his face off on his sleeve, smiling bigger than he had in a long time.
"...thanks, bro...y-you're really there for me when i need it."
"YOU'RE MY BROTHER, SANS. I'LL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOU. AND SO WILL UNDYNE! SHE'S BACKING YOU UP, TOO!"
"she is, huh?"
"ABSOLUTELY. IN FACT, YOU MADE A RATHER INTERESTING CONVERSATION TOPIC...HOW EXACTLY DID YOU FIT TWO FOLDING CHAIRS INTO THE PICNIC BASKET? IT'S RATHER SMALL...UNDYNE WAS ESPECIALLY IMPRESSED."
"a lot of things become possible when you know how quantum physics work."
"HUH...WELL, I'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND ANY OF THAT, I DON'T THINK."
"i'm just...glad you have my back, man. i'd have lost my sanity long ago if it hadn't been for you."
"WELL IF THAT'S THE CASE, THEN I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WILL CONTINUE TO STRIVE TO MAKE THE LIVES OF BOTH YOU AND UNDYNE EQUALLY WONDERFUL! EVEN IF THE ACTUAL SUN IS OUT OF OUR REACH, I'LL MAKE YOUR DAYS BRIGHTER THAN EITHER OF YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE! NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!"
"heh..."
"EH...BY THE WAY, SANS. SINCE ALL OF THAT IS OUT OF THE WAY, CAN I ASK YOU AN UNRELATED QUESTION?"
"yeah, sure."
"I WAS JUST CURIOUS ABOUT IT...WHAT EXACTLY IS ALL THAT MULTI-COLORED LIGHT THAT SHINES FROM UNDERNEATH YOUR DOOR COMING FROM? I'VE NOTICED THAT I ONLY SEE IT WHEN YOU'RE IN THERE BY YOURSELF, SO I FIGURED YOU'D KNOW."
Sans tensed up for a moment, but did give an answer.
"...aurora borealis."
"AH...AURORA BOREALIS," Papyrus echoed, not believing it for a second. "AT ANY GIVEN TIME OF YEAR, AT ANY GIVEN TIME OF DAY, IN THIS PART OF THE WORLD, BENEATH THE SURFACE OF THE EARTH, AND LOCALIZED ENTIRELY WITHIN YOUR BEDROOM."
"yes."
"ERM...MAY I SEE IT SOMETIME?"
"... ...no."
"HMPH."
"i'll explain some other time."
"FINE..."
"...undyne's takin' her sweet time, ain't she?"
"HMM...YES...YOU'RE RIGHT. SHE SAID SHE WAS JUST CHANGING INTO SOMETHING CASUAL, BUT IT USUALLY DOESN'T TAKE THAT LONG."
"women, am i right? you never know what to expect from them."
"I KNOW WHAT I CAN DEPEND ON HER TO DO, SANS. AND HER SPEED IS SOMETHING DEPENDABLE, FOR SURE...WHICH IS WHY I FIND MYSELF GROWING CONCERNED."
"you think somethin's up?"
"I DON'T KNOW," he answered, a spark of worry his eye sockets. "...I'LL GO CHANGE INTO MY BATTLE BODY REALLY QUICK TO GIVE HER A BIT MORE TIME, BUT IF SHE'S NOT IN HERE BY THEN, I'M GOING TO GO CHECK ON HER."
"you know...i guess i can kinda get undyne had you in her sights."
"OH, DO YOU KNOW?" Papyrus remarked as he headed up the stairs.
"she's a fish, man. ain't it obvious? can't you see?"
"WAIT."
"she's..."
"OH, HERE IT COMES..."
"hooked on you."
Papyrus simply sighed, and let out what sounded like a half-amused scoff.
"...HONESTLY, SANS...I DON'T KNOW WHY I HATED YOUR JOKES SO MUCH WAY BACK WHEN."
"hey. when you're around them all the time, you get used to it, right?"
"NYEH...I SUPPOSE IT'S TRUE. AND I AM VERY ADAPTABLE! NYEH HEH HEH!"
And with that, he disappeared behind the door.
"...you're more than just that, papyrus. keep goin' strong...for all of us."
A/N: No argument. C418 is a musical genius...But some of his song titles are weird. XP
Also, sorry I keep making meme references in here like I did with A Pure One Underground; I can't help it. I almost didn't put the Steamed Hams reference in there, since I already wrote a whole other parody fic about it, but the lights coming from under Sans' door made it too perfect not to use.
Also, in case you're wondering, the only reason Sans and Papyrus know what the Aurora Borealis are is because Sans is canonically into nerdy spacey stuff as much as he is timeline studies and whatnot(first evidenced by the phone call you get from Papyrus if you call him by the telescope.) He probably learned about the northern lights from Alphys and passed down what he knew to Papyrus.
Up next: Ever wonder what Undyne is hiding behind that eye patch? Not anything pretty, that's for sure...
