After Team Rocket crashed into the gym, Misty filed a police report. Dillon and his friends helped clean up the gym, even the pokemon helped after a nice rest. As a thank you for helping with Team Rocket and the gym, Misty offers to take the group out on a picnic dinner before sunset. While her true intentions were to just have dinner with her son, she'd grown fond of Aurora as well as happy to see Granite again. Of course, Misty cannot cook well, so Granite offered to make some sandwiches with Amy's help. Dillon, trying to keep Aurora out of the house as to avoid her seeing him in family pictures, manages to convince her to talk with him outside. Misty, as the host, sticks with him after changing out of her gym attire.
"So you're sure you want to leave Cerulean City tomorrow?" Aurora asks him.
"Yeah." Dillon smiles while scratching Pika behind the ears. "I want to train some more. Home is here anyway." Misty smiles at this.
"Well, I'll be here whenever you want another challenge!" She tells him. He nods.
"Misty, you mentioned you have a son, correct?" Aurora asks. Dillon holds his breath and looks away.
Misty thinks over her words. "Yes, I do."
"How come we haven't seen him yet? Wouldn't he have come to check on the gym after its collapse?" the girl questions.
Misty smiles. "He's on his pokemon journey. He called to check up on me earlier." Aurora nods and Dillon lets out a breath.
"Hey Dilly Boy. Don't hold me back or I will leave you." Aurora mocks the boy. He rolls his eyes. Misty hides her laugh.
"You talk too much." He mutters.
"I'm just happy. Sunsets are like our thing." she smiles. He looks at her confused. "You know. Me, you, and Granite! We always bond best with sunsets." Dillon thinks back to Pewter City and nods.
"Heh. I guess you're right." He looks up at the sun hanging low in the sky.
"We're all done!" Granite exclaims coming out of the house with Amy and a basket. The girl is holding another basket full of the dishes. Misty and the teens stop leaning on the car and get inside. She drives them all the way to Cerulean Cape. Since it is winter, it's chilly out and there are not too many people. They find a nice spot near a pond and Dillon lays out the blanket. All the pokemon are let out to eat and socialize. Soon, everyone is enjoying the sandwiches and each other's company.
Dillon gets up and walks towards the wooden fence by the water. He looks at the Goldeen swimming inside. Pika hops on the railing a few minutes later. The two are then joined by Granite after a while.
"I'm glad you came home." Granite breaks the silence. Dillon takes in a deep breath and exhales with a smile.
"Same here." he says. They look up at the sun as it hangs low, and are startled when arms wrap around each of their shoulders.
"Bonding without me?" pipes Aurora from between them. Granite chuckles and Dillon smirks.
"You won't let us." The teen boy says. She chooses to ignore him as the three watch the sun set ahead of them. Pachirisu joins Pika on the fence.
Behind them, sitting on the picnic blanket, Misty snaps a picture. Amy smiles. "Are you sure that's Dillon?" She asks her mother.
Misty laughs. "I've been asking myself that a lot lately." She admires the picture on her pokenav.
"I'm happy for him." Amy replies. Misty pulls her daughter into a hug.
"Me too. And I'm very proud of you too." She kisses the top of the girl's head.
Amy melts into her mom's embrace. "Do you think they're dating?" She asks referring to her brother and Aurora. Misty laughs.
"Not yet." She winks at her daughter. The two laugh and enjoy the sunset together with Politoed and Psyduck.
After the sun sets, the gang packs up and Misty drives them to the Pokemon Center. Aurora and Granite get out at the Pokemon Center.
"I want to spend my last night at home." Dillon tells them. "Can you drop me off there?" Dillon asks Misty. She nods and smiles.
"Okay. We'll see you here tomorrow at 10AM!" Aurora reminds him.
"Stay out of trouble!" Granite smirks as the car drives off.
Further down the road, Dillon speaks, "Thanks for keeping my secret." He tells his mother and sister.
"No problem, big bro!" Amy grins. "I like your girlfriend." Dillon blushes.
"She's not my girlfriend!"
"Whatever, Dilly Boy." she smirks at him. Dillon kicks the back of her seat.
"Guys. Stop." Misty tells them as the car pulls into the gym. Once everyone gets inside and the dishes are washed, Amy and Dillon are about to head upstairs when Misty speaks, "I like her too." The siblings look at her confused.
"What are you talking about, mom?" Amy asks. Misty gives them a smile.
"I'll see you both in the morning. Good night!" With that, she kisses their foreheads and heads upstairs to her room. Amy and Dillon follow and go to their own rooms after Amy pushes Dillon, Dillon trips his sister, and Misty threatens them from behind her door.
