Chapter 29: Ringing the wedding bells
Three months after the demise of Crota, it was now time for the Crimson Days to come around, and with it, the marriage of Vulcan Sol IX and Queen Mara Sov. Everyone was chattering about it in excitement, unable to calm down from their sugar highs. Gon had also gotten his seal tattoo after Crota was killed and was now an official member of the Seven Deadly Sins.
"Planning this thing must have been a nightmare." Alex said as the Sins all arrived at the Vestian outpost with some of the other guests.
"I bet. Weddings are usually like that, from what I can recall." Cayde nodded as he stood with the rest of the Vanguard.
"I just hope that our Lion Sin does not forget his duties to the City after the marriage has been finalized." Zavala states.
"Whatever the outcome, we will surely gain a steady ally in the form of the Awoken, if Vulcan is truly able to sway the Queen's favor." Ikora noted.
"I believe that he may very well be able to do just that. Either way, Vulcan is very lucky today." Shaxx commented. "And I am quite certain that any child they may have will surely be a mighty warrior."
"On that, I believe we can agree, Shaxx." Lord Saladin nodded, he had also been invited.
"Is love primarily what makes events like this happen?" Gon asked curiously as he looked around.
"Yes it is, Gon. That's how things like this happen." Byf nodded..
"Are you ready for this, Byf?" Alex whispered to his lore master friend's ear.
"Yeah. First time going to one of these. This'll be fun." He whispered back with a smile.
As they continued to walk forward, Petra and the Techeuns were waiting for them. "Greetings Guardians, Vanguard and Iron Lords. If you will all follow me, I will show you to the ship that will take all of us to the Dreaming City, where the wedding of Her Majesty and The Lion Sin of Pride will be held." Petra told them.
They then boarded the ship and headed off to the Dreaming City. It was a short ride, so no one got all that worked up over it. Upon arriving at the Dreaming City, those visiting for the first time looked around in amazement before schooling themselves and proceeded to follow Petra and the Techeuns to the wedding location.
It was inside a place known as a Watch Tower, and upon entry, they saw Vulcan speaking to the Speaker (who had arrived earlier than everyone else) and an Awoken couple, the man of the couple bearing a striking resemblance to the Titan, only looking older in comparison.
"Are those Vulcan's parents?" Snake wondered.
"I'm not sure." Alex replied as they walked up to the three. Vulcan was wearing a special sash across his chest along with his usual armor, and well as a golden chain that was connected to his shoulders, a sign of nobility to the Awoken people.
"Magistrate Maximus Sol, Lady Sarai Sol, Speaker, Vulcan, I see you've all been acquainted. Or I suppose in your case Vulcan, reacquainted." Petra said to the group.
"Yes. It is good to see my son not only alive again, but also getting married." Maximus nodded, feeling proud of his son.
"I only wish I could remember you fully… Father." The Titan nodded solemnly.
"I'm sure you will, after all, you were able to remember Mara." Sarai said as she put a hand on his shoulder, which due to his seal wasn't excreting heat.
"A feat that is unprecedented for Guardians." The Speaker added.
"It does take triggers for those memories to return, from what I can tell." Alex spoke up, causing them to turn to him.
"And you are?" Maximus asked.
"Alex-7, the Dragon Sin of Wrath and one of Vulcan's long time friends." He introduced himself.
"And my best man." His friend added while draping a massive arm over the Exo's shoulder.
"That, too." The Exo male chuckled.
"Heh, so you're the Exo I heard from Mara about." Sarai chirped with a chuckle.
"We're part of an ever growing team of five, our goal is to gain all seven members of our elite team of Guardians: The Seven Deadly Sins." Alex nodded.
"Are there any candidates for the other two at this time?" The mother of Vulcan inquired curiously.
"Not as of yet, no." The Exo said.
"Well I'm sure that will change. In the meantime, I've heard a strange rumor about you having an odd vendetta against Hive Ogres. Is that true?" Maximus inquired, changing the subject.
"Oh, it's true alright." He said in a slightly agitated tone.
"He even had the misfortune of being eaten by one at one point." Snake said as he appeared.
The Ghost's words made the two parents wince. They could see how his vendetta was justified and, if they were being brutally honest, they couldn't blame him. Then again, who likes Hive Ogres?
"Okay, I honestly can't blame you." Sarai told the male Exo in front of her.
"Thank you. Now, about the concept of memories being triggered by certain things…" The Dragon Sin began as they changed the subject. They then continued this discussion as they were all led to the cathedral room where the wedding was to take place, many of them in awe at how amazing the place looked.
Ana, though, meanwhile seemed to be slightly nervous about something as the girls were changing into their dresses.
"What is it, Ana?" Cortona asked.
"Well… Would you girls believe me if I told you that Mara seduced me into sleeping with her a while back?" The Boar Sin told them, rubbing the tattoo on her neck nervously.
The other girls looked at each other silently for a moment, making the last Bray squirm nervously… Before they just shrugged.
"You do realize that it's not that unheard of for Awoken to have more than one lover, right?" Joker asked.
"Well, no." Ana blushed.
"Plus, Mara's bisexual, so it's definitely not unimaginable." Cortona added.
"What about Vulcan? What will he think?" The Gunslinger asked nervously.
"I'm sure he'd understand." Cortona told her. "After all, he knows about the intricacies of Awoken love culture."
"It would be out of character for him to not understand." Eris spoke up for the first time in the conversation.
"... I guess you're right. But still…" The woman then looked at them. "She even asked me to bear a child for her in the future."
"... How would that even work?" Cortona asked dumbly.
"We Awoken have a special serum developed for the more 'female leaning' couples to have children. It temporarily gives the drinker the needed 'equipment' to do so." Petra told her.
"... I have no words." The Serpent Sin sighed as she finished putting on her dress.
"Can you zip up my dress, Eris?" Petra asked the former Guardian.
"Of course." The addressed woman nodded and went to help Petra. After each of them got their dresses on, they went into the reception area, and were now waiting for Mara to come in.
A minute later, music started to play and the doors opened as a small Awoken girl, the youngest daughter of the Sol family, Terra Sol, who was in a small dress and was carrying a basket of spirit blooms, which floated into the air as she walked down the walkway.
Then as she sat with her family, the bride finally arrived. In came Mara, and she was wearing a dark violet dress which hugged her figure and went under her arms and was half backless and had a V-shaped opening at the chest. It also had gold trim going along the opening and lining the top of the dress, it also had white, light purple and gold flowers on the right side near her chest and a grey-transparent mesh opening going up the sides with flower sequins. Lastly she was wearing her ring, gold bracelets, and a trio of gold chain necklaces, as well as a white fur boa around her shoulders.
She walked down the aisle to the altar where Vulcan was while Alex stood off to the side waiting to present the rings. Vulcan, meanwhile, stiffened slightly.
"No need to be nervous, you're about to marry the love of your life." He whispered to his friend.
"I know, but this is nerve-wracking." The large Titan whispered back.
"Just keep your calm, and everything will work out. Trust me." The Exo reassured his soon to be married friend. "Though, did you know that Mara wants Ana to join you guys?" He asked, having heard it from Cortona.
"Really?" Vulcan asked in surprise.
"Yeah. In fact, she made sure we had an extra ring." The Exo nodded as the Queen stepped up next to her groom and had Ana join them.
With that, the ceremony began. It of course went on like most church processions for about an hour, then it was time for the exchange of rings and vows.
"Now, do you, Vulcan Sol IX take these women, Mara Sov and Anastasia Bray, to be your wedded wives? To have and hold forever until your final death?" The Speaker, who had been requested to be the minister, prompted as Alex presented the rings..
"I do." He nodded, slipping the wedding bands on their fingers.
"And do you, Mara Sov and Anastasia Bray, take this Guardian to be your wedded husband? To have and hold until your deaths?" The Speaker of the Traveler asked.
"We do." They nodded in unison.
"Then with the power bestowed upon me by the Traveler and the Last City of Earth, I pronounce you Guardian, and wives." The man said before gesturing to the three. "You may now kiss your brides."
Vulcan and Mara smiled as they embraced and kissed while everyone clapped and cheered for the newlyweds. Vulcan then gave Ana a kiss as well.
"They're going to have a really busy wedding night, aren't they?" Cortona whispered to Alex.
"And a very long honeymoon, more than likely." Alex nodded as he watched the two women lay their heads on their new husband's broad chest.
Today was a very bright day.
ThermalsniperN7: Sorry if this is shorter than normal, but in all honesty, I don't think we can do much when it comes to weddings. Still, it should be good in terms of quality.
Dragon Emperor0: For all of you who are eager to see what went down between Mara and Ana, and what all our newlyweds will be doing during their honeymoon, I suggest checking out the new spin off Hurricane Reaper: Erotic Extras when it's posted.
ThermalsniperN7: See you guys next time!
