Chapter 62: Fight Against a Death God?! Power from the Past and Future
The two were innocent. Seto wanted to believe that were he in the same position, Kaiba would make sure Bommer's siblings were alright.
"Max. You lent Jack your power deck. And I am now returning it to you. It was a good way to test out Kaibacorp's latest technology. And – to feel how Jack Atlus usually Duels." Seto said, returning the deck to the boy.
"No! I want you to show this to my brother!" Max protested as he held the deck.
"I can't do that. Your brother is Dueling at the moment – and he could hurt you if you get involved." Seto responded. "The most I can do is face these Dark Signers myself and stop them."
"I can't believe you're Seto Kaiba. Or that you know Jack." Max's sister said, giving him a look of doubt.
"Believe whatever you want. But know that I'm on your side. Now – I have some questions if you don't mind." Seto asked the teens. They nodded and he spoke.
"Since you're Bommer's siblings, do you know anything about these Dark Signers?"
"They are tied to the Earthbound Gods. They cause nothing but death and want to turn the world into a Hell. They have to be stopped! Especially if Big Brother is here! They turned him once before and - " Annie stopped for a moment.
"They destroyed our hometown. The only way to take them down is to defeat the Earthbound Immortal controlling them." She finished.
"Then the time to act is now. Get on. I'll take you to a shelter. I don't want the two of you getting absorbed if I can help it!" Seto said, boarding the D-Wheel fashioned after his own Ace Monster and heading towards Kaiba's private shelter that he'd retrieved the deck from earlier.
"Blue-Eyes! Will you face these monsters with me one more time!?" Seto thought as he heard Kisara roar in his heart.
Rua had commanded his dragon to attack, and Power Tool Dragon's screwdriver arm struck Bommer's chest, the Dark Signer falling down to a knee as his life-points hit zero.
There was a moment for him to breath and Rua inhaled, glad that victory was his. The celebration stopped when he noticed something strange happen. The Monkey Geoglyph appeared above them. With it was Cusillu's form, the Monkey God, roaring in anger.
Rua looked over to see Demak's own Life-Point gauge had dropped to a zero. Then why was the Immortal still here?
If it to answer his question, The God roared, shuddering and fighting at some invisible force as it was compressed back into a card. The Monkey Geoglyph around it shrank down before it was absorbed completely into the card.
Once that happened, Rua heard Demak groan. Then the Monkey Dark Signer's body suddenly began to tense and groan in pain. His skin turned grey as he began to flake apart. The purple fire around him built up to a greater intensity and Rua heard screams. Demak had turned to dust before Rua's eyes.
The teen glanced over to Bommer. Rua could see that he was turning a shade of grey himself.
"Not again!", Rua told himself, hoping that his strongest Synchro Monster could stop the process. Life Stream Dragon was no stranger to bringing back people on the verge of death, as Ruka could attest to. Rua had no idea if it would work on a Dark Signer as it had for Ruka earlier years ago - but he had to at least try.
"Life Stream Dragon! If you brought Ruka back – then you can do it again! This time I'll save Bommer!" He beckoned, the dragon roaring as it landed in front of Bommer, the Dark Signer wrapped in a bubble of golden light coming from Life Stream.
Rua could only stare and hope that Life Stream Dragon's power could achieve what he wanted. At the moment hoping was all the boy could do.

Kiryu saw Cusillu rage before it vanished. The God seemed – afraid. It was concerning – especially given Ccapac Apu's reaction.
The God roared in his soul and Kiryu could feel its' strength and hunger grow. Resisting it had become impossible, he realized as he was compelled to Duel and summon the monster so it could feast on a large number of souls.
He decided to investigate what had moved Cusillu. The Geoglyph vanished, meaning Demak had finished his Duel. Kiryu had no idea who the victor was, but his search was interrupted as he heard a loud voice announce itself.
/
Seto had dropped the two off and drove now through the City, following the rampage of Cusillu. The Monkey God had created a swath of destruction as it waded through the City. Now Seto could see it fall in the distance and realized with a start that it was right where their allies had gathered at the hospital.
He felt a pit in his stomach and made a fist. Enough hiding. Enough sneaking around to get authorization and a working Deck and D-Wheel. If they were directly targeting Team 5D's that meant it was time to act.
The D-Wheel's initial test against Jil had been enough for Seto to ease into the world of Riding Duels – but now he wanted an actual challenge. The man drove towards the purple flames and smiled as he felt the raw magic react to him.
He was technically a dead man. And as such he would not be able to 'die'. Though he had no Millennium Item of his own, Seto was still prepared to face the dark magic. Blue Eyes was with him once again – now at the peak of its' power.
"Dark Signers! Surely the rest of you can do better than challenge children?!" Seto yelled, broadcasting the message across the relatively empty Duel Chat on the Multi-Duel Network.
"Don't tell me history has forgotten the power of Blue-Eyes!?" Seto continued, playing the dragon and letting its' roar do the rest for him.
/
Ccapac Apu was more than happy to create the pattern of purple fire as Kiryu intercepted the other Duelist.
The other man turned and Kiryu was taken aback at how on brand the Blue-Eyes themed helmet and D-Wheel were.
"Dark Signer! Face me and regret coming back to life!" The other man said, his Duel Disk shimmering with rainbow Momentum energy for a moment.
SETO: 4000
Kiryu was taken aback by the man's confidence but it fed his craving for a Duel even more. If the man was willing to challenge him despite the risks involved, Kiryu supposed he could allow it.
"Ha! If you're really Seto Kaiba, I could say the same thing!" Kiryu responded in kind. "So, you know what a Dark Signer is? Then you know the stakes of this Duel!"
"Of course! I'm challenging you right now! Without Signers to stop you, Neo Domino is in trouble! That's why I came back! To protect my City!"
The words only urged him onward. And they served another purpose as well. Both Kiryu and Ccapac Apu wanted to Duel now. Kiryu could not deny his hunger for a satisfying Duel – one that would test his abilities even as a Dark Signer. Ccapac Apu might feast on souls – but he was away from Satellite. Nico and West would be out of reach. That promise to them was all he could uphold at the moment – as the desire to battle resounded throughout Kiryu's soul.
KIRYU: 4000
He looked at the man who resembled Kaiba and hoped that it was the genuine article. A pretender would certainly be a disappointment – and easy prey to his Infernity Deck.
"Then prepare yourself – for a Dark Signer's Duel!" Kiryu warned.
"Then we need no more words! Only our cards!" Seto yelled.
"RIDING DUEL! ACCELERATION!" Both Duelists yelled out.
/
Life Stream's light doused the purple flames, removing the Whale mark from the sky as a result. The the light faded away, leaving a still Bommer on the weathered concrete.
"Bommer! Bommer!" Rua yelled as he ran to his opponent, fearing the worst. He didn't know if he could handle seeing another person die in front of him again. He shook the man and Rua could feel a pulse in his arm.
Rua was glad to see that Bommer's skin had reverted to its normal shade of brown and was not at the verge of falling apart.
"Rua?' Bommer asked as he shook his head, the man's eyes returning to their regular dark pupils on white sclera.
"You're alright?" Rua asked and Bommer nodded.
"Whatever you did just – revived me." he said, holding up his Duel Disk. The Earthbound Immortal was still on the disk and Bommer frowned.
"Or at least – you prevented me from dying. Though I still feel connected to Chacu Challhua – it's not controlling me now." The man said, patting Rua on the head.
"Bommer?" Rua asked, blinking with uncertainty.
"Rua. You have given me clarity." The man said, standing up.
"And it seems Demak's attempt at astral projection was more than he bargained for. I think your sister is going to be safe after all." The man said.
"But – aren't you going to face me again? Won't the Killer Whale want revenge on me?" Rua asked.
"No. I won't let it harm you. Whatever your Life Stream Dragon did – it calmed me down. I can act on my own volition - for now at least. So I will seek out our true enemy." Bommer declared, getting back on his D-Wheel.
"True enemy? You mean Shiro?" Rua asked.
Bommer nodded. "I see you know. Then please – do not get in my way. That goes for you and the rest of Team 5D's. Some of our number still have grudges to settle." Bommer said as his D-Wheel sped off into the distance.
/
The maze of purple flames tore through the street until it was the Mark of the Giant. Soon the Geoglyph of the same God appeared in the sky as both riders took off. Kiryu was slightly ahead of Seto and wasted no time starting his turn.
TURN 1
KIRYU: 4000 SETO: 4000
SPC: 0/0
Kiryu drew a card and grinned as he made his first move.
"I'll start with this! Infernity Necromancer!"
As its' name was mentioned, Kiryu played the card. The result being a hunched over skeleton priest wearing a heavy looking robe (3/0/2000).
"When I Summon Infernity Necromancer, it goes into Defense Mode." Kiryu stated as the monster turned blue (2000).
"Then I set two cards and end my turn." Kiryu finished. He still had three cards in his hand. Both D-Wheel whizzed past buildings surround by the purple fire.
TURN 2
KIRYU: 4000 / SETO: 4000
SPC: 1/1
"My turn! I draw!" Seto declared, doing so.
"Then I summon this. Appear, my servant! Battle Ox!"
Seto played the card and the Minotaur warrior appeared, axe in hand as it hovered beside Seto's D-Wheel. The Ox had no reaction to the flames around them, merely snarling when it laid eyes on Kiryu's Necromancer (4/1700/1000).
"Then I'll set two cards as well." Seto mirrored, the two hidden cards setting to the left and right of Battle Ox.
"Then it's your turn!" he said coldly. The two Duelists took a sharp right turn as they followed the trail of fire.
TURN 3
KIRYU: 4000 / SETO: 4000
SPC 2/2
"Hmph. Then I'll draw." Kiryu said, now with four cards in hand.
"I'll continue with Infernity Daemon!"
With a blast of purple fire, a gray-skinned shaman appeared, grinning as it sized up Battle Ox (4/1800/1200).
"Time for my Battle Phase! Infernity Daemon attacks Battle Ox! Hell Pressure!"
A purple rune appeared in the sky, rotating as a burning hand emerged from within, gripping Battle Ox and crushing it with a single movement. Seto grunted as he took minor damage from the battle (SETO: 4000 → 3900).
"In response to you destroying my Battle Ox I'll use this trap card – Flat LV 4! Due to this trap card we each get to Special Summon a level four monster from our decks! I choose X Head Cannon!" Seto declared.
The high firepower robot appeared in Battle Ox's place, hovering in the air (4/1800/1500).
"Then I'll Summon Infernity Guardian." Kiryu said, a burning skull appearing next to Infernity Daemon (4/1200/1700).
"That ends my turn." Kiryu said and Seto reached for the top of his deck.
TURN 4
KIRYU: 4000 / SETO: 3900
SPC 3/3
"Draw!" Seto said as he glanced to his hand – now of four cards.
"I'll now play Y Dragon Head!"
The red mecha dragon appeared beside him, silently hovering (4/1500/1600).
"Then my Dragon will unite with X Head Cannon to give it more power!" Seto declared as his monsters docked together.
As the two united, X-Head Cannon gained more attack power (1800 → 2200).
Seto looked to the three cards in his hand before pointing to Kiryu.
"Now I'll use it to attack Infernity Daemon!"
The cannons fired from X Head Cannon's shoulders and Y Dragon Head's mouth, but they were deflected by an invisible barrier. Seto narrowed his eyes and noticed a trap card Kiryu activated.
"I'll negate your attack with Depth Amulet – at the cost of a card from my hand." Kiryu said, sending the trap card Damage Gate to his Graveyard and leaving him with two cards. He found he was smiling – enjoying countering the other's move.
"Pah! I end my turn!" Seto stated. "Now begin yours'!"
Depth Amulet: 1
TURN 5
KIRYU: 4000 SETO: 3900
SPC 4/4
Kiryu drew a third card, pleased at what his Deck had given him.
"I summon Infernity Beetle!" Kiryu said as he played the armored insect (2/1200/0).
"And then I'll use this Trap Card – Limit Impulse! I discard two cards such as Infernity Destroyer and Infernity Beast to the Graveyard. Then I Summon two Soul Tokens!" Kiryu explained as he sent the last two cards in his hand to the Graveyard.
Then two spirits – bluish gray in color – appeared, twisting and turning on his field as they flew in circular patterns (1/0/0 x2).
"And now that my hand is at zero – you will know the terror of my Infernity Deck! My Handless Combo!" Kiryu stated with a grin. He'd managed to pull it off. Now things would get interesting.
"When my hand is at zero, I can use the effect of Infernity Beetle! I tribute Infernity Beetle to Summon two more from my Deck!" Kiryu said, raising his right arm to the sky as his Beetle shattered and two more took its' place (2/1200/0 X 2).
"Now I tune one of my Infernity Beetles with Infernity Daemon and both tokens!" Kiryu said as he grinned.
"The dead and the living...The moment they meet at zero, the demonic dragon will be released from the cage of eternity! Synchro Summon! Come forth, Infernity Death Dragon!"
Kiryu's Synchro Dragon appeared with a roar as its' multiple eyes looked around the field (8/3000/2400).
Seto beheld the dragon and Kiryu's shoulders shook as he chuckled.
"That's not the end of things! I'll use Infernity Necromancer's effect! When my hand is at zero I can Special Summon an Infernity monster from my Graveyard! Revive! Infernity Daemon!"
Infernity Necromancer growled and a blue ring of fire appeared in front of it. Kiryu's Infernity Daemon rose from the flames with a grin (4/1800/1200).
"And when Infernity Daemon is Special Summoned while my hand is at zero, I can add an 'Infernity' Card from my Deck to my hand, so I will add 'Infernity Break'." Kiryu clarified as he added and then set the Trap Card.
"And now – I'll show you Infernity Death Dragon's effect! When my hand is at zero I can destroy a monster you control – and you take damage equal to half of its' attack! However I cannot attack with it the turn I use this effect." Kiryu exclaimed. "Destroy his X Head Cannon!"
The dragon hissed and fired a crimson spiral of flames from its' mouth.
The Y-Dragon Head armor exploded but X-Head Cannon emerged with minor scuffs and discoloration from the flames.
"Hmm? I wasn't able to destroy it?" Kiryu asked.
"No! Y Dragon Head can protect X Head Cannon from destruction while it is equipped! It will be destroyed instead!" Seto responded. "And as the target of your effect was not destroyed – I'll take no burn damage!"
Kiryu smirked wider.
"Good! I wanted this to be a challenge! Then I'll have Infernity Daemon attack X Head Cannon!"
The monster raised both arms as a purple seal appeared and a blazing claw hand emerged from the pattern. The claw fell down – the sentient energy widening its' fingers to target X Head Cannon.
Suddenly the arm moved again and wrapped its' claws around Infernity Death Dragon's body.
"Trap Card – Attack Guidance Armor! I redirect that attack to your Synchro Monster!" Seto stated as Infernity Death Dragon roared and fired back, incinerating the claw. The flames kept going, piercing through Infernity Daemon's seal and shattering the monster.
"And since your monster was destroyed – you'll take Battle Damage." Seto said as Kiryu grit his teeth (KIRYU: 4000 → 2800).
It seemed his desire for a challenge had been met – even with his Handless Combo in place, Kaiba had stopped his attack.
"Pah. Then show me! Show my Seto Kaiba's true power! I end my turn!" Kiryu said.
Turn 6
KIRYU: 2800, SETO: 3900
SPC: 5/5
Seto drew his fourth card and looked pleased. "It's here!"
"I discard Thunder Dragon to add two more copies of it to my hand." Seto began, doing so and giving himself five cards to work with.
"Then I'll use this Speed Spell – Count Up! I discard both remaining copies of my Thunder Dragon to gain four more Speed Counters!"
(SETO SPC: 5 → 9)
Kiryu had to admit he was impressed as his opponent sped ahead of him.
"For a legendary Duelist from so long ago, you know how to use a speed spell." He said, his opponent saying nothing in response to him.
"I'll Release my X Head Cannon to Advance Summon Kaiser Glider!" Seto exclaimed as his bulky golden dragon appeared (6/2400/2200).
"Battle! I attack Infernity Necromancer with Kaiser Glider. Golden Burst!"
Bright particles gathered in Kaiser Glider's mouth, creating a bullet of light that it shot across the field, aiming right at Kiryu's Infernity Necromancer.
It was a sloppy move considering the trap card Kiryu had set. Despite the man's use of Count Up, all the speed wouldn't matter if he didn't have a monster to protect himself with.
"Too bad! When my hand is at zero I can use this trap card – Infernity Break!" Kiryu countered.
"I banish an Infernity Monster from my Graveyard – such as a copy of Infernity Beetle – to destroy your Kaiser Glider." Kiryu said as Kaiser Glider's attack stopped and it shattered apart.
Then Infernity Necromancer vanished from Kiryu's field, re-appearing in his hand.
"When Kaiser Glider is destroyed I can return a monster on your field to your hand – or in this case your Extra Deck." Seto explained. Kiryu's eyes widened and Seto grinned.
"Next turn you're going to have to draw a card – and if it is a monster then your Handless Combo will be disrupted!"
Kiryu narrowed his eyes but said nothing to this.
"Then I'll move to my Main Phase Two and set this." Seto stated, his final card appearing on the field.
"It's your turn now." He said, Kiryu scowling as his handless combo had been broken.
Depth Amulet : 2
Turn 7
KIRYU: 2800 / SETO: 3900
SPC: 6 / 11
Kiryu drew his next card, looking at it before playing his other card.
"Appear again! I summon Infernity Necromancer!" Kiryu said.
His monster appeared beside his Infernity Beetle, and Daemon in Defense Mode (3/0/2000).
"Although you may have disrupted my Handless Combo - that doesn't change the fact that you have no monsters!" Kiryu pointed out as his swarm of creatures all stared down Seto.
"Now I'll enter my Battle Phase! Infernity Death Dragon! Direct attack! Infernity Death Breath!"
The dragon's flames shot out at Seto but soon disappeared as Seto revealed his set card.
"Counter Trap! Negate Attack! I'll cancel that attack and end your entire Battle Phase!" Seto retorted.
Kiryu could do nothing else, ending his turn and wondering what Seto could do now. With his Speed Counters soon to be maxed out, he'd have everything he needed to use any Speed Spell.
Turn 8
KIRYU: 2800 / SETO: 3900
Kiryu SPC: 7, Seto SPC: 12
Seto drew a card, his eyes widening at his latest card.
"Then my faith in this speed paid off! I'll use this Speed Spell – Accel Draw!" He exclaimed, drawing two cards.
"And next – I'll use Speed World 2's effect – I reduce my Speed Counters by seven to draw another card."
Seto drew a third card as he slowed down (SPC: 12 → 5).
"Kisara." he said softly as he looked to the mended card he had just drawn. "You're telling me to fight."
Then Seto addressed his opponent properly.
"Now you'll see the strength I've attained in this world! I Summon Kaibaman!"
Seto played the card as a near perfect replica of himself appeared (3/200/700).
"I can Release Kaibaman to Special Summon this monster from my hand! Appear – Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"
Kaibaman vanished and in its' place a much larger monster appeared. From the light of the Summon, Blue-Eyes let out a booming roar (8/3000/2500).
Kiryu's eyes widened but he laughed.
"Impressive! So you do have Blue-Eyes! But it won't change anything! Despite its' legendary reputation it has the same attack power as Infernity Death Dragon!"
As Kiryu said this, both dragons hissed at one another, sizing the other up.
"With Depth Amulet on the field, if you try to attack it will just be negated! I should thank Kaiser Glider for disrupting my combo – otherwise I couldn't protect my dragon!"
"We'll see! I'll back up Kisara with this! Appear – Duel Spirit of Power – Duos!" Seto cried out, playing the last card from his hand.
The monster that emerged was a blue-skinned and humanoid monster. It had black plating over the blue that covered all facial features except for its' mouth. It grit its' teeth as it flanked Seto's Blue-Eyes (4/1800/1600)*.
"I'll go right to my Battle Phase! Kisara – Attack Infernity Death Dragon!"
Kiryu widened an eye as he grinned.
"Not bad! But I'm using Depth Amulet! I discard my only card – Infernity Dwarf – to cancel that attack!"
"Then Duos will pick up where Kisara left off! Duos, attack his Infernity Death Dragon!" Seto commanded.
"Any reason why you're going to do that?" The other man asked.
"Simple! During battle between Duos and another monster, I can increase its' attack power by that of a non-effect monster on the field or Graveyard! Meaning Kisara's presence will let Duos slay your dragon!"
Blue-Eyes roared and Duos raised its' arm, a single blade of energy appearing in it (1800 → 4800).
"Over four-thousand attack points?!" Kiryu breathed as Seto pointed at his Synchro.
"Now Go! Aura Sword!" Seto declared as Duos flew towards its' target.
Kiryu winced as he took the Battle Damage (KIRYU: 2800 → 1000). His D-Wheel wavered as the impact made him veer from side to side. He grinned as he adjusted and avoided the flames.
"Not bad damage." The Dark Signer said.
Seto didn't respond other than by saying "I end my turn."
As he said those words, Kiryu's active Depth Amulet trap card shattered – it's turn limit expiring.
Turn 9:
KIRYU: 1000 / SETO: 3900
SPC: 8, SPC: 6
"Draw." Kiryu said, looking at the top card of his deck and chuckling.
"I thought I was in trouble – but now - I Release Infernity Guardian and Infernity Daemon. I Advance Summon this - Dark Tuner – Nightmare Hand."
"Dark Tuner?!" Seto responded, his eyes widening at the mention of the card.
The monster manifested from the tributes, rising to appear as a flat, black clad fiend with a wide grin (10/0/0).
"My Nightmare Hand's ability lets me Special Summon a level two monster like Infernity Dwarf from my hand or Graveyard." Kiryu explained as the Infernity Dwarf appeared beside the Dark Tuner (2/800/500).
"And now – I initiate Dark Tuning!" Kiryu said, getting a wide grin as the red mark on his face turned purple and started glowing.
He chanted as Nightmare Hand's body split into ten level stars that entered Infernity Dwarf's screaming body, ripping it apart as eight black stars emerged. Then a pillar of black light shone through them.
"When the curtain of darkness descends down, the eyes of the underworld will open. Swoop down, darkness! Dark Synchro! Show yourself, One-Hundred Eye Dragon"!"
The Dark Synchro Summon occurred and the dark monster appeared, a multitude of purple eyes along the creature's body opening as it flapped its' wings (-8/3000/2500).
"Dark Synchro Monster – One-Hundred Eye Dragon." Seto remarked, looking up at the second dragon Kiryu Summoned.
"Still – it is just as strong as my Blue-Eyes. Are you aiming for mutual destruction?"
Kiryu gave a brief chuckle. "Not at all! One-Hundred Eye Dragon can copy the effects of DARK Attribute monsters in my Graveyard, such as my Infernity Death Dragon's ability!"
As he said this, the center eye in his dragon's chest opened, revealing the image of Infernity Death Dragon.
"Now I'll inherit Death Dragon's effect and use it to avenge it! Do it, One-Hundred Eye Dragon!"
Duos shattered instead as Blue-Eyes flew above the fire blast, unharmed.
"Duos can take the hit instead! Once on the field and once in my Graveyard!" His opponent countered
"Hmph. Seems you're going to do anything to protect that thing!" Kiryu commented.
"Now I'll inherit the ability of my Infernity Necromancer to bring it back!" Kiryu continued as Infernity Necromancer re-appeared (3/0/2000).
"Then I'll use that effect to Special Summon Infernity Daemon again!" Kiryu said as the archfiend appeared yet again – this time in Defense Mode (4/1800/1200).
"And since he was re-summoned, I can add Infernity Force from my deck to my hand." Kiryu said before he set that card as well.
"That's enough for now." Kiryu said, grinning. "Go on – it's your turn!"
Turn 10:
KIRYU: 1000 / SETO: 3900
Kiryu SPC: 9, Seto SPC: 7
"Draw!" Seto said, pulling the single card from his deck.
"I'll use the effect of Speed World 2 once again – reducing my Speed Counters by seven to draw!"
Seto did so, drawing a second card even as he slowed drastically, Kiryu speeding ahead of him.
"Then I'll set a monster and a card face-down." Seto said as the two mystery cards appeared before him.
"And now I'll go to the Battle Phase! Blue-Eyes! Attack his Infernity Necromancer with your Burst Stream!"
"Not quite! I'll counter with this trap card – Infernity Force! I destroy your monster and bring back a Level Four or lower Infernity! Resurrect! Infernity Beetle!" Kiryu retorted as his monster re-appeared (2/1200/0).
"Too bad I can banish Duos from my Graveyard to protect Blue-Eyes from destruction once again!" Seto said and Kiryu grinned.
"You're just stalling! Nothing you do will save Blue-Eyes my next turn!" Kiryu boasted.
"I end my turn."
Turn 11:
KIRYU: 1000 / SETO: 3900
Kiryu SPC: 10, Seto SPC: 1
Kiryu smirked as he drew a card and set it right away.
"My hand is zero! So now I'll carve the terror of One-Hundred Eye Dragon into you once again!"
"First I inherit the ability of Infernity Dwarf for piercing damage. Next is Infernity Beast to stop your Spell and Trap cards from working during until the Damage Step! And finally the ability of Infernity Death Dragon! Finally destroy his Blue-Eyes!" Kiryu explained.
The blast of fire struck Blue-Eyes again and this time Seto could do nothing to protect himself from the damage (SETO: 3900 → 2400).
"Kisara . . . I'm sorry." Seto whispered.
Next Kiryu gestured to Infernity Necromancer.
"Now I'll use Infernity Necromancer to revive Infernity Beast!" Kiryu stated as the hell-hound appeared (3/1600/1200).
"With this many monsters, you're finished! I proceed to my Battle Phase!" Kiryu said with a huge grin on his face.
"In that case – I'll use my trap card! Shadow Spell!" Seto countered as the continuous trap card sprung up, four heavy chains wrapping around One-Hundred Eye Dragon's mouth, chest, and arms (3000 → 2300).
"If I can't use this when you attack - I'll activate it right before you do so!" Seto declared. Kiryu grit his teeth.
"Then – I attack your monster with Infernity Demon!" Kiryu commanded, the monster's magical rune shooting a blast of flames as Seto's hidden monster.
The monster revealed itself to be a cybernetic sphere, with a large green eye and a grin of triangular teeth.
"Behold – Cyber Jar!" Seto yelled even as he took piercing damage from Infernity Dwarf's effect (SETO: 2400 → 1500).
"Hmph! It won't stop me! Now I'll finish you off with Infernity Daemon!"
"Not quite! Observe – the ability of Cyber Jar!"
The monster's mouth opened and a powerful suction was created, the pull of which extended to Kiryu's field. Infernity Beast, Necromancer, and Daemon all tried to resist the vacuum but were overtaken by the pressure. The three slammed into Cyber Jar as they all shattered.
Seto laughed and laughed. "This monster's effect comes into play when it is flipped face-up. Cyber Jar's effect first destroys all monsters on the field! Then we each draw five cards and Special Summon any Level Four or lower monsters from the cards we draw!"
Kiryu narrowed his eyes. "Before we draw – One-Hundred Eye Dragon won't be destroyed! As I currently have no cards in my hand, it can inherit the effect of Infernity Guardian! While my hand is at zero, it can't be destroyed by battle or card effects!"
One-Hundred Eye Dragon shook off the chains around its' mouth and roared as Cyber Jar shattered and both Duelists drew five cards.
Seto looked at his new hand and immediately used two of his new cards.
"To me! Blood Vorse! La Jinn!"
The infamous raider beast appeared, wielding its' battle-axe (4/1900/1200). Beside it, the Djinn rose from a puff of smoke, crossing its arms (4/1800/1000).
"Now – show me your monsters!" Seto countered.
Kiryu bared his teeth as his yellow eyes widened. He looked in pain as the Marker on his face burned brighter and the Dark Signer Mark on his arm's glow intensified.
"Hmm?" Seto wondered, noticing that Kiryu was in pain.
"Dammit." Kiryu whispered, wincing as he began to tremble. "I thought I could keep it at bay if I finished you off just now. Come on! Give me more time!"
Then the glow from his mark spread to his eyes as his pained expression became a grin.
"Hmph. My vessel is far too rebellious to continue at this point. As a Dark Signer he has served his purpose up to this point! I call my offerings – Infernity Reloader! Infernity Climber!"
The voice was different. And the man's attitude had changed. The two monsters appeared, Infernity Reloader a fiend whose' body was made of gunbarrels (1/900/0). Beside it Infernity Climber appeared, a winged Imp (3/0/800).
Then the three remaining cards were added to both players' hands.
"Offerings?" Seto asked, suddenly feeling a change in pressure.
"Yes! Offerings for my resurrection! Kiryu thought meager scraps could appease me – but I will now feast!" The Dark Signer grinned as he held up a single card to the sky.
"Main Phase Two! I tribute Infernity Climber and Infernity Reloader!"
The two monsters groaned as their departure opened a rainbow portal beneath them, expanding and breaking apart as a stone heart appeared in their place.
The 'heart' shuddered as it beat, each shudder causing it to rise. Then Seto heard screams as countless people in the area turned purple, their essences flying in the air towards the stone heart. Seto couldn't even count the number of souls absorbed as his opponent laughed.
"What . . . is this?!" Seto asked. "What did you do to Kiryu!?"
"Heheheheheheh-! Kiryu is nothing but my vessel! And now he will fulfill his purpose! Now, Spirit, bear witness to my true form!" The voice said as it slammed the card down on the Duel Disk.
"Advent! Earthbound God Ccapac Apu!"
The heart stopped beating and a pillar of purple light slammed from its' location into the earth. The whole area shook and Seto could barely hold on.
He heard a deep moan as something was visible among the purple flames. A huge arm rose up, stubby gray fingers grasping at the sky as the monster continued to rise. Seto felt the same pressure from when Kisara faced the Spider. The monster that appeared was truly a giant. Gray and blue body vast and exuding both darkness and strength (10/3000/2500)
"Priest! Are you not impressed with my true form?!" Kiryu yelled as the God roared.
"I know not how – but in the name of the Pharaoh I will resist you! As High Priest it is my duty to deal with fiends like you!"
"Your King's blessing will not save you! On the next turn I will bury you!" Kiryu yelled as his Speed Counters fell and he decelerated until he was behind Seto (KIRYU SPC: 10 → 0).
"I will use the remaining Speed Counters to free my servant from your curse!" Ccapac Apu explained as Shadow Spell broke apart and One-Hundred Eye Dragon roared (2300 → 3000).
"Finally I set my remaining cards. Take your final turn." Ccapac Apu ordered through Kiryu's voice.
Turn 12:
KIRYU: 1000 SETO: 1500
SPC: Kiryu: 1, Seto, 2
"I DRAW!" Seto yelled as he pulled the latest card, finding it was agreeable.
"I'll use this Speed Spell – Angel Baton! I draw two more cards and then discard one!"
Seto drew the new cards and selected one of them. "Then I discard the White Stone of Legend as a cost for Angel Baton!"
He sent the monster to his Graveyard and grinned as his Deck ejected another card.
"And once it goes to my Graveyard I can add another Blue-Eyes White Dragon to my hand!"
Seto added the card to his hand, now consisting of five cards.
"Nothing you do will matter against my supreme might."
"Stop talking! I summon Maiden with Eyes of Blue!"
A woman appeared in beige robes, with light blue hair and bright eyes (1/0/0).
"Though I regret Summoning this next Monster without using Kisara as material – I'll just have to make due with Blood Vorse and La Jinn!"
"And now I tune my Maiden with Blood Vorse and La Jinn!" Seto declared, extending his hand as the maiden turned into a ring of light that the other monsters flew through.
"Behold as a sacred power is refined in the light of the future! Synchro Summon! Rise - ! Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon!"
The sky flashed with green as his monster flew above his D-Wheel, the dragon's hide reflective and bright. It greatly resembled Blue-Eyes, with similar proportions and behavior – as evidenced with the booming roar it gave off (9/2500/3000).
The Synchro Monster was in Defense Mode, its' wings widespread as it flew close to Seto.
"I set a card and end my turn!" Seto said with resolution as a face-down card appeared on his field.
"Let that set card be enough until I can use the rest of you." Seto said, looking to the three remaining cards in his hand.
Turn 13:
KIRYU: 1000, SETO: 1500
SPC: Kiryu: 2, Seto, 3
Kiryu drew a card. "Since my hand was at Zero, I could add Infernity Climber from my Deck to my hand."
"It is over now. I attack." Ccapac Apu declared through his host.
As the God stated this, it began to slowly move, its' tremendous arm heading towards Seto himself.
"Right! Earthbound Gods have the ability to attack the player directly!" Seto recalled from the Signer's explanations.
"Be crushed by my hand and rue the day you appeared in this world!"
"Not quite! Let's go! Azure-Eyes!" Seto cried out.
The dragon roared and flew between him and Ccapac Apu's fist.
"Trap Card activate! Attack Guidance Barrier!" Seto cried out.
As he did so, Azure-Eyes hissed as its Defense Points rose (3000 → 3600).
The fist of the God collided with the Dragon, Azure-Eyes curling its' body and wings up. A blue barrier formed around it, blocking Ccapac Apu's attack.
Kiryu yelled as he took counter damage (KIRYU: 1000 → 400).
"How?!" Ccapac Apu roared from his host.
"Attack Guidance Barrier forces you to attack my dragon! It will take more than one attack to end me!"
"Then I end my turn with this!" Ccapac Apu "I set Infernity Climber."
Turn 14: SPC: Kiryu: 3, Seto, 4
Kiryu: 400 Seto: 1500
"Draw!" Seto yelled. Then his Graveyard ejected a card that he grabbed and held high. "And during my Standby Phase – Kisara will revive!"
Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon let out a roar as it's body glew and suddenly the fallen Blue-Eyes White Dragon from Seto's Graveyard appeared beside it (8/3000/2500).
"Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon can Special Summon a Normal Monster from my Graveyard each of my Standby Phases!" Seto explained.
"It will not matter what you do! You cannot touch me. Your Dragon ties with One-Hundred Eye Dragon! And if you destroy Infernity Climber by battle, I can return it to my hand during the next turn!"
Seto ignored the talk as he played his next card. "Now that I have four Speed Counters – I can play this! Speed Spell – Speed Fusion!"
Seto activated the card as two more Blue-Eyes appeared overhead.
"I unite all three of my dragons into one supreme being! Emerge and show this Earthbound Immortal what true power is! Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!"
The Fusion Summon broke apart as his most powerful monster appeared, three roars heralding its arrival. The gigantic blue dragon faced down Ccapac Apu and One-Hundred Eye Dragon as it flew by Seto's D-Wheel, its' presence making even the Earthbound Immortal take pause (12/4500/3600).
"Now Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon! Counterattack and destroy that abomination in one blow! Ultimate Burst!"
The three attacks fired and passed through Ccapac Apu, the blasts hitting now empty buildings and punching holes clear through them, doing significant damage to the city block. Seto bared his teeth as the attack had done nothing but cause destruction.
"Hmph. If I hadn't absorbed the City peoples' souls, how many of them would you have killed with that attack? I'm afraid that I cannot be attacked as long as a field spell is in play." The Immortal said through Kiryu's voice.
"Then I'll just attack the only target left! Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon! Strike down One-Hundred Eye Dragon! Ultimate Burst!"
This time Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon wasn't going to make the same mistake. It flew far higher in the air, the triple Burst Stream firing straight down and incinerating Kiryu's Dark Synchro Monster.
Seto had hoped the Duel would be over as the attack would practically finish Kiryu off. However he noticed a trap card spring up as the attack hit.
"Dodge Roll. Letting you reduce an instance of battle or effect damage to zero I see? Fine then." Seto said, setting his final card.
"I set one card and end my turn!"
Turn 15: SPC: Kiryu: 4, Seto, 5
His opponent's eyes flashed as he drew his next card.
"I set this monster in case you survive this. Then another face-down card! Now I destroy you for good! Ccapac Apu will end this!"
Ccapac Apu reached for him again and Seto grimaced. He only had one option left.
"Then – I'll end this Duel the only way I can! Ring of Destruction!" Seto yelled.
"What?!" The Immortal asked through its' host. Seto narrowed his eyes.
"Dark Signer. You have tested my abilities to their peak! But even you don't have a way out of this! As proof of my determination, I'll use Ring of Destruction to target the strongest monster in play! Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!"
The ring appeared around Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon's chest before it exploded, the colossal blast striking Ccapac Apu and expanding to hit both Duelists.
The two of them cried out as both gauges of Life-Points depleted (KIRYU: 400 → 0, SETO: 900 → 0).
The explosion sent both D-Wheels careening, stopping as they both crashed. All the while Ccapac Apu raged in anger as it sunk into the ground – Imprisoned until such a time it could be Summoned again.
The flames stopped as the God thrashed around - enraged that the Duel had no offering to give. A tie was meaningless to it. And now it had to rest until Kiryu Summoned it once again. Kiryu came to his senses and shook off Ccapac Apu's influence, aware that he was being approached by his opponent.
Seto rose from his crash, staggering over to Kiryu and helping him up.
"Hey – you made it – a tie?" Kiryu manged, clutching the side of his head as he removed his helmet
"It was the only way I could end it and keep both of us alive. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon was enough to show your God fear. And Ring of Destruction saved both of us." Seto stated, groaning as he twitched and collapsed.
"Hey! Stay with me! I'm not about to let you die! You made the Duel a tie!" Kiryu said, running over to pull up Seto.
"I didn't expect pity from a Dark Signer. However you – are their friend. Don't worry Kiryu. I – won't let this go to waste. Neither should y-"
Seto stopped speaking as he shook, the toll of the Shadow Duel evident.
"No! It was a tie! You stopped him! Even when he turned me into a puppet! This ending won't satisfy me!" Kiryu yelled. Seto chuckled as his D-Wheel shifted, turning into a portal of sorts.
"This – works out for me. Thank you for showing me a Duel of the future, Kiryu." Seto said as he fell, his body touching the D-Wheel.
"Jeager. Initiate the project." Seto stated into his helmet's mic.
Then both rider and machine vanished. Leaving Kiryu by himself and at a loss of what to do next as the purple flames and the glyph in the sky both faded away.
Made up cards:
*Duel Spirit of Power – Duos
Level 4 / DARK / Warrior / Effect
1800/1600
If you control a non-effect monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. During battle between an attack position monster your opponent controls and this attack position monster, you can increase this card's ATK by the ATK of a non-effect monster on the field or in either player's GY until the end of the damage step. If a monster card you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can destroy this face-up card, OR banish it from your GY instead. You can only use each effect of 'Duel Spirit of Power – Duos' once per turn.
*This monster was present in Seto's Duel with Kaiba's hologram/Noah. As I displayed it there I felt it would be a disservice not to show off its' true power in a Duel.
