Another Heart Calls
Chapter 26
Today we welcomed Sara Alice Pace into the world she was by far my easiest pregnancy, we finally had our little girl. Sawyer was 7, Sage was 5 and they were happy to welcome a little sister into their world.
Our family had grown in other ways over the years, Jasper and Angela have three children too, they didn't wait Angela wanted kids one after another and we had our youngest 2 days apart, they had two girls and one boy. JJ (the oldest Jasper Jr.), Avery and Madison.
Alice finally settled down with her own clothing and is very successful, it was picked up exclusively by Target and she was surprisingly okay with that, she also has housewares she designs too. She's too busy with all her nieces and nephews to have her own, she says.
Edward and Molly finally made it official and although there are no children in their future, they do have furbabies and spoil our children on the regular. They travel with the Seattle Orchestra all over the world and perform, and in their free time they teach our children to play instruments as well.
Sawyer and Edward love sitting at the piano and playing anytime there's a get together, and I love seeing those two, I still have the first recording of Edward teaching him Chopsticks, it was the cutest thing, I though for sure he'd be my guitar player, but he said he needed his fingers for surgery like daddy and Pops. Sage on the other hand is like my brother, wild and rambunctious, get him and JJ and Jasper together and it's WWE, or a beautiful guitar jam session, it's amazing what Jasper has taught those two to play at such a young age, reading music before they could actually read.
"Babe, you okay?" Garrett asked.
"Yeah. Looking at everyone together, realizing how lucky we've been. We had some really low points, but we came through them. You worked your ass off for our family and look at us. We've got two handsome boys and our beautiful daughter, not to mention our amazing family." I squeezed his hand.
"Hey! Don't sell yourself short, you worked hard too. Who took care of this rowdy bunch while I went to school and worked long hours, plus went to school herself?" Garrett kissed my cheek.
"I had help." I scoffed.
"WE had help, WE had each other, and we'll always have each other. But you're the best mom and teacher anyone could ask for." Garrett reminded me.
"I do love teaching, I'm glad Carmen was able to help us with a replacement before she retired, I'll miss her, but her niece is wonderful too." I smiled up to Garrett.
"Anything that brings you piece of mind come September when you have to go back to work." He reminded.
"Yeah, Pops and Dad need to travel and enjoy retirement." I laughed. "They deserve it."
"We sure as hell do." Dad walked up laughing. "You gave me these damn grey hairs."
"Me? What about your other children?" I pouted.
My dad gave me a pointed look.
"Fine, fine. It was me." I held up my hands. "Garrett helped."
"Hell, yes he did." Dad laughed loudly and Sara jumped and started crying. "Shit. Sorry." He took her from me and rocked her.
"I don't know why she doesn't like your loudness." I laughed.
"I'm an acquired taste." He wiggled his eyebrows.
"Yes, he is." Pops walked up and kissed him softly.
"Ewww, now I need brain bleach." I laughed and motioned if they were okay with Sara.
Garrett and I mingled with everyone and checked on the boys playing in the back yard with JJ and Avery. Jasper and Angela were in their Madison bubble, probably talking about a fourth child. Garrett and I were done, I had my tubes tied and Garrett had a vasectomy, it was our present to each other, Garrett had his done right before Sara was born, so he'd be healed and ready to help me out.
We knew that no matter where our future took us, we would get through it together.
