Chapter 27- One shall fall

POV: Rainjet

": :" Bumblebee talking

(Note: this chapter takes place during season 1 ep 23 "One shall fall" of TFP)

"And it was written in the covenant of Primus that when the forty-seven spheres align, a perpetual conflict will culminate upon a world forged from chaos, and the weak shall perish in the shadow of a rising darkness." Optimus said as he recounted the doom prophecy for us, the forty-seven sphere's would be aligning soon and whatever darkness the prophecy spoke of would tear this world apart leaving nothing but darkness in its wake.

Knockout, Airachnid, Soundwave, Megatron and myself had gathered at the bridge so the lord could be updated on our progress with the second staples bridge we were building. "The Decepticon space bridge 2.0 is nearly ready to launch." Knockout announced happily to Megatron, I pulled up the diagram of the space bridge model onto the holoscreen that covered the bridges window to show the different objects Soundwave had acquired and I had found over the past couple months. "All we still need is…" I trailed off as my partner pulled up an image of the final piece we needed, "What Soundwave said- an ample power source." Knockout finished for me from beside him. "Yes, thank you Knockout." I commended from where I was at the computers. "This one lies within a highly fortified location, by human standards. I could tunnel in." Airachnid said and suggested, while she was speaking I pulled up an image of the base that the power source was being stored in. Everyone turned their helms back to the screens as Airachnid spoke, I left it up when she was finished so everyone could study it.

"The time of prophecy is nearly upon us!" Megatron started, he was bent down to our level and very dramatically clenched his servo as he spoke, we weren't expecting the sudden yelling and we couldn't tell if he was mad or just being Megatron so we backed away from the computers and him. Knockout, Airachnid and I shot each other confused glances as Megatron continued to speak. "We can no longer afford stealth." Megatron finished as he rose to his full height, "So then what do you propose as our course of action, My Lord." I asked. I had to choke up on the last part because I never addressed him as Lord only ever Megatron, I saw him formulating a plan before he spoke to us again this time it was a little softer. " We will send a team of vehicons along with Airachnid, Breakdown as our ground team, eradicons for air support incase there is more resistance from the humans than initially given or if Optimus Prime shows. Rainjet and Knockout will remain here for backup in case anything happens." Megatron said with an evilish smile on his dermas (Lips), everyone nodded their helms and Airachnid went to fetch Breakdown and alert of teams of eradicons and vehicons that they would be departing on a mission.

As unsettling as it was for me to make the comparison Megatron reminded me of Orion and Optimus Prime as he formulated his plan to complete our second space bridge. I sighed a little, whatever events were going to follow the capture of the power source were making me uneasy so my sigh came out in slightly broken breaths. It didn't take long for everyone to be assembled and moved out, Knockout and I didn't go anywhere and to my slight concern neither did Megatron. The three of us retained in the bridge for the transmissions Breakdown or Airachnid would send us when the package was secured. For the longest time we didn't hear anything back from either Breakdown or Airachnid and I could tell Megatron was starting to get impatient, he was pacing more and his optic ridges were narrowed together as we waited for confirmation that the mission was going according to plan.

"Lord Megatron, the package is secured, but the Autobots have arrived." Breakdown finally commed in, I was both relieved and angered with the facts that we had finally got our servos on an ample power source but Twinwave and her band of do gooders were going to frag it up for us if they managed to get their servos on it. I heard Megatron fuming in anger and was more nervous than I had been before, he was taking this prophecy stuff a little too seriously but I remained in my position. "Perare the warship for rendezvous. The package will be ready for pickup!" Megatron yelled to me and Knockout as he turned around to face us. "Yes Lord Megatron." Knockout said and I just nodded in agreement, "Rainjet, you will accompany me as back up, that is if I need any." Megatron continued. His blood red optics were directly focused on me now, "Yes, My Lord." I said flatly. Then both he and I moved past Knockout and headed out of the bridge and towards the hanger for departure.

We transformed and shot out of the hanger and flew towards the conflict area where the Autobots had engaged and probably wiping the concrete floor with our forces that had been sent there. We flew above the clouds and made a slow descent to below them to get a better optic on where we were, from what I could see just above the low hanging clouds we were flying above a road through a middle of nowhere desert. There was practically no one on the road except a black and yellow muscle car, "Bumblebee." I thought grimly. He was probably on his way to the base for backup for the Autobots. "Well well, a foolish scout has started from the ranks. Rainjet, you stay here while I make sure we don't have more company at our meeting with the Autobots." Megatron said as he descended further towards the Autobot scout and started to fire on him, Bumblebee swerved around the two lane road as he desperately tried to avoid the energon fire that was coming from Megatron. Until Megatron landed a hit on him and Bumblebee swerved into a stop as the purple electricity that had come off from the energon Megatron had shot at him crackled around the scouts frame.

Megatron ascended back towards me and we continued to fly to the pickup point in silence, it was mostly desert and some bits of the road we had long since left behind zoomed past below us as we soon came upon the base. From what I could see from so far away the Autobots were creaming our forces even though they were outnumbered and outgunned they still had almost dismantled and extinguished every spark of the eradicons and vehicons that had been sent in. Airachnid and Breakdown were nowhere in sight so they had probably fled when the Auotbots had arrived and the real firefight had started. Megatron and I flew towards the Autobots but still kept our distance until we got a little ways from them and Megatron untransformed and dropped out of the sky for a dramatic entrance, I descended a little before following suit and landing beside him. "Optimus." Megatron greeted coldy, we'd landed just in front of Optimus and the others and among the bodies of our fallen that littered the base's area. "Megatron, do you not see the folly in trying to force a prophecy to fruition?" Optimus replied, he sounded like he was trying to reason with Megatron but he should have learned after eons of war and conflict that Megatron was not someone who could be reasoned with or barganded.

I stayed silent as Optimus Prime and Megatron had their conversation, still I eyed Twinwave who had her swords at the ready and was in a battle stance in case anything went faulty and we started a fight here. "If one can forge one's own destiny?" Megatron finished as I returned into the conversation he and Optimus Prime were having, though I still kept my optics focused on Twinwave in case she was going to try anything. But out of the corner of my optic I saw Bumblebee in bipedal mode approaching us with something in his servos, "Ah, speaking of fate…" Megatron added as the scout approached everyone else. I knew he did it to get their helms to turn towards his handy work, so I readjusted my focus onto the mech scout and what he was carrying. "One of their human friends." I thought he was small and had red glasses on but I had no idea what his name was. When Twinwave saw him she looked like she was going to drop her swords but instead she put them away and immediately put them away and ran to join Arcee by Bumblebee's side.

"Raf!" she gasped when she got to the human boy, "He's breathing...barely." Arcee added as she scooped him out of Bumblebee's servos and into her own. "Well at least now I know his name, but I don't know how long that will matter for if he was affected by the energon blast from Megatron's blasters." I thought watching the team slowly gather around the small boy. "Ah-ha. It would seem I swatted a bee and squashed a bug." Megatron commended himself, there was a series of unintelligible buzzing from the scout as he transformed his blasters and aimed at Megatron. I transformed my own and aimed it back at him, "I dare you to shoot." I spat. He may be the only one I liked out of Twin's friends but that wouldn't stop me from extinguishing his spark if he tried to kill Megatron. "Bee, No!" Bulkhead said as he and Twinwave grabbed hold of Bumblebee, "He isn't worth it, neither of them are." Twinwave said loud enough for me to hear. I didn't lower my blaster, until he was under control and he was no longer considered a threat it wouldn't be lowered.

Megatron laughed as we watched everyone squirm from the fact of their human friend's condition, "Ratchet, bridge us back now." Optimus commanded his medic back at their base, wherever that was. Their ground bridge portal opened behind Optimus Prime and Bulkhead, "Arcee, look after Rafeal and Bumblebee." Optius instructed the femme. She pushed Bee through their ground bridge and now only Optimus, Bulkhead and Wave remained. The three of them had their blasters and swords transformed and aimed at us in case we tried to follow. I just smirked at them when the dust around the base started to kick up as the Nemesis started its descend to pick us up, "And here I was thinking you would want a fight."I said as the sound of the engines from our ship got louder as it got closer to the ground to pick us up. We looked above us to see where the elevator would be coming down so we could meet it. I picked up the power source and walked over to the elevator as it came down from the ship, Megatron looked behind us to make sure the Autobots were gone. They were because when I turned around in the elevator's tube to wait for Megatron the Autobots ground bridge portal had disappeared.

I finally untransformed my blaster as we made our ascend back up to the ship, I watched the landscape slowly disappear around us as we reached the Nemesis. The moment the elevator doors opened I picked up the power source for the space bridge and followed Megatron towards the bridge where Knockout would be waiting for us. Though the dumb power source wasn't that heavy it was awkward to carry, there weren't any handles or places I could pick it up from so it had to be carried with both servos instead of one. We'd finally reached the bridge which meant it was almost time for me to put this thing down, and like I had thought before Knockout was waiting for us by the computers where we had left him when Megatron had insisted I accompany him on the little outing we had just finished to get the power source. We walked down the bridge's catwalk situation and when we reached Knockout I carefully put the power source I was carrying on the ground. "The power source will be rigged in no time, Lord Meagtron. We're nearly at the construction site. "Knockout said calmly, he was eyeing what I'd just carried in but I couldn't read his expression. I stayed in my place a few feet from where Knockout was at the computers, Megatron had continued walking towards him and was next to him by the time he finished talking. Megatron leaned over him and started to yell again, he was making the same unpredictable and rash movements that he had this morning. "'Nearly' isn't good enough. The spheres are aligning. I must not miss my moment to-" Megatron stopped abruptly, he had been leaning over Knockout and then had turned around to finish speaking. He'd had one of his servos in the air before he coughed and then took in a lot of air and just froze in place. "Lord Megatron, are you alright?" Knockout asked concerned, Airachnid, whom I didn't know had arrived but was here now, shot me a concerned look as Megatron dropped his helm and his servo before speaking.

"Yet again, it is as if I can hear Unicron's thoughts." Megatron said finally speaking since his freeze up, "Unicron, the chaos bringer?" Airachnid questioned. She moved her optics to Knockout who was beside us, he leaned in a little closer to tell her what I already knew. "They say dark energon is his blood." he said mystically (I couldn't think of another word to use so you get this). "Heh, whatever." Knockout finished, Megatron had the courtesy to wait until Knockout was done filling Airachnid in before he spoke to the three of us again. "Complete the space bridge. There is something I must attend to. Megatron ordered us as he pushed past us and left the bridge. "He's headed to the hanger, I wonder what would be so important that he won't be here to see the construction that will finish the space bridge he's been waiting on for months." I wondered out loud, yet another bad habit I'd picked up from Twinwave. Sometimes I wondered if she even had any of the habits or things I used to do other than the coding from our time together . "Who knows, but does he seem to be losing it?" Knockout asked the both of us. "A bit." Airachnid replied, "You two are just figuring this out now? He's been like this since I told him about the forty-seven spheres aligning at the end planet being earth." I retorted. I walked back over to the computers and checked to make sure we were on course to the space bridge's construction site where the PA system came on around the ship, "Here this!" Megatron's voice started. "Any Decepticon who lays a servo on Optimus Prime will answer to me. Soundwave and Rainjet, lock onto my coordinates and lead my opponent to his destiny!" Megatron finished.

I nodded my helm to Soundwave, who also had randomly appeared next to us, and we left the bridge as quickly as we could, there was no sense in keeping Megatron waiting so we needed to get this over and done with as quickly as we could. Soundwave and I made our way to the ground bridge room and I turned on the comm links to every vehicon and eradicon on the ship to blast send a message through that would hopefully reach the Prime's Audio receptors. "Optimus Prime, I'm going to need you to come to the ground bridge room so we can personally send you straight to Mgeatron. We know how much you want to end him and this war so I'd like you to hurry, we don't want to keep the prophecy waiting." I said into the mass comm link upload that I'd just created. Now all we could do is wait while I programmed the ground bridge with the coordinates Soudwave was going to supply me once he got a fix on Megatron's signal. Down the hall from us I could hear the sound of pad steps that were entirely unfamiliar to me which meant that Optimus Prime was getting close and was ahead of schedule.

"Soundwave, have you got those coordinates yet?" I asked my partner, he turned to me with a map and a locator beacon which was a "Yes' ' in my book. I got close enough to see the coordinate placements and then quickly programmed them into the ground bridge as the unfamiliar padsteps stopped at the door. I looked up from the computer screen and turned to see that Optimus Prime was indeed on schedule. "Ah, you've made it. Now could you hold a moment so that I can get this thing power up and ready for transport? Thank you." I said when he stopped near the portals framework, I walked over to the bridges level and flipped it. The ground bridge slowly powered on and he was about to walk through it when I stopped him, I walked right next to him and prayed that my tone was low enough that Soundwave wouldn't hear it. "If you survive this, and I mean someone pulls you out of there alive. I want you to tell Wave that I'm sorry and that when this is all over I want to meet and work things out between us." I whispered, Optimus Prime just gave a solemn nod of his helm before he stepped through the ground bridge and disappeared into a cloud of gold dust.

(POV: Twinwave.)

We popped through the other side of our round bridge straight back into the chaos of base, Bulkhead was carrying the stolen power source from the Decpeticons ship and he was setting it down as the bridge powered down behind us. "Is Raf okay?" was the first thing out of my intake when we got through the portal, there wasn't a reply. Instead I noticed that everyone was crowded around med bay and that June's car was here. My spark gave a sickening twist as I wondered what the effects of the energon that Raf had been shot with was doing to his body. I walked slowly over to med bay and parted the crowd of both bots and people who were crowded around the small hospital bed, heart rate monitors and Nurse June. The heart rate monitor beep frantically as June checked Raf's breathing and pulse, "Jack, help me get Raf to the car. He's going to the emergency room." June finally said as she took the setheiscope from her ears and put it back into her bag. "Nurse Darby, your doctors won't be able to comprehend what's afflicting him- not without a decade of study." Ratchet replied to her, he had been turned around to see what was happening with Raf and was now turned back around to his computers to get something, "I don't have time to argue." June retorted as she and Jack got on both sides of the hospital bed and were getting ready to move it towards her car.

"The effects of an energon blast on an Autobot can be devastating enough, but this is a human. I'm not getting any readings. '' Ratchet started, he was completely turned around to his computers and using a scan that he had probably taken earlier from Raf to determine what was causing his spiral. "How could I not have seen this? Rafael's been infected with-" Ratchet tried to finish before I cut him off, "Dark energon. Which would make sense because Megatron was the one who shot Bee and not Rainjet." I concluded with a small gasp at the beginning, I was kind of relieved that Rain hadn't been the one to shoot Bee's alt with Raf inside but instead Megatron. "Maybe there is still a part of her that is good." I thought as Ratchet made his way to Raf's bedside. "Yes thank you Twinwave." Ratchet started as he pulled out his scanner and got ready to rescan Raf but this time looking for any traces of dark energon instead of the regular stuff. "If dark energon is devouring Raf from the inside out, we must expel it and fast, the only possible way I know." Ratchet continued as he scanned Raf's unconscious body, once his scan was complete he reached to his computer table and picked up an energon container. "I need energon." he announced to the rest of us, at this point I think all four bots that weren't Ratchet were ready to give a little of ours for Raf. "Wait. You said energon was devastating to humans. '' June reasoned.

"Under normal circumstances, quite. But I am relying upon the dark matter currently invading Rafael's body to meet it head on." Ratchet concluded, I was about to say that I'd give some of mine to him but Bee got to the punch line first. ":I'll give him some of mine, I got him into this mess and I'm going to try everything to get him out," Bee buzzed, Ratchet just nodded as he walked over with the injector and energon container and pumped some of the blue substance from Bee's arm. He dashed over to a power unit for what we usually used for decontamination baths and then pointed to the unit that we would take them in, " I need him over here now!" Ratchet said frantically. June and Jack rushed Raf to the unit and pushed his bed inside, all the rest of us could do was watch and hope. "He's going to be okay Bee, I promise." I reassure my partner, I could tell her was overly upset about Raf's situation and was angry with Megatron for endangering a human life. Ratchet was already over at the unit's computer system and was programming it for what we needed to do, expel that dark energon out of Raf's system.

Raf's bed had been pushed into the centre of the unit and June and Jack were out of it when Ratchet pull the lever and turned it on, slowly he released the energon he had collected from Bee into the units atmosphere, it whirlied to life like the ground bridge did and started to glow. The more enegon that was released into the atmosphere the brighter the unit got. Everyone shielded their optics and their eyes, until the whole thing glowed so brightly that it sent a shockwave through us as the light faded and then disappeared in an instant. The first people inside the unit when the doors opened were Jack, his mother and Miko, Nurse June was immediately at Raf's side and took his wrist to read his pulse. Bee and I followed them inside to see if he was going to wake up, I knew everyone else would be holding their breaths (again, if they breathed, it's a metaphor.). "Pulse rate is stabilizing." June said with a sigh of relief, "Raf's opening his eyes." I said with relief flooding through me as the little human sighed. "Bee?" he asked weakly as soon as he saw his guardian, ":Raf:'' Bee buzzed happily, Miko leaned in and hugged him and June shot Ratchet a look of approval. "Optimus, we did it." Ratchet said glancing towards the ground bridge for Optimus who at this present moment wasn't in the base.

"Where is Optimus?" Arcee asked as everyone but Bulkhead and I looked around for him, "He's not here, he said he had something to take care of." Bulkhead said. "Which probably means he's trying to extinguish Megatron's spark." I added, Arcee shot us a look of disapproval as she dragged me out of the unit and stood me beside Bulkhead to give us the pits of Kaon. "You two let Optimus face Megatron alone?" Arcee almost yelled, June, Jack and Miko were wheeling Raf out of the unit as we got questioned by Arcee. Everyone in the base was clearly listening in to the conversation, "It's not like we had much of a choice. He wasn't coming back to base with us whether we tried to drag him or not." I retorted. Arcee still wasn't satisfied with the answer and Ratchet had already gone back to his computers to try and get a fix on Optimus' coordinates. "It could be a trap." Ratchet piped in as he typed away, "We need to get a fix on his location." ratchet finished as he slanned one of his servos onto his computer desk. "Don't worry Ratchet I'm sure you'll find him soon." I said as I walked over to the computer's to see if I could help in any way but Ratchet seemed to have already found him.

"I'm locked onto Optimus' signal." Ratchet said as a map and a locator beacon appeared onto his computer's screen, "Wait. how is this possible?" Ratchet questioned as he studied more of where Optimus was. "What? What is it?" Arcee asked concerned as she and Bulkhead came up behind me and Ratchet, "Is everything okay, Ratch?" I asked. I looked up at the screen above us, a large hot spot had appeared where Optimus was battling Megatron. Ratchet hadn't fired up the ground bridge but it looked like he was going to, whatever the readings for the area were it had clearly spooked him. "We need to get Optimus out of there now!" Ratchet yelled, he turned around and was frantically trying to program the ground bridge with Optimus' coordinates while also not clueing any of us in on what the frag was happening.

Yes, I'm leaving you on a cliff hanger because that's what the episode did to me. You get to deal with the suspense, well you already know what's happening if you've seen the episodes already but if you haven't you get to wait to find out in the next chapter. I'm also going to apologise if this chapter seems all over the place, that's how the episode was and I had no idea how to start this today's chapter at all. Oh and the next couple of chapters might be written like this or strictly from Twinwave's perspective, though it is dependent on how focused the episode is on one side and not the other.
