Chapter 25

Berry ate her squirrel in silence. She had skipped eating with Ruthless to come here without telling him. And that created feelings of guilt she did not like. "Hey," Moon said. Berry ignored her. Moon was a spoiled brat who stole cats fresh-kill to act like she hunted instead of od sleeping. "I said, 'Hello!'"Moon snapped. "Show some respect," Berry whirled around. "I only give respect to cats to cats who earned it," She snapped. Moon stalked slowly toward her. "What Did you say?" She asked slowly. Berry stood up. "I am not going to bow down to you like some mindless idiot," Berry snarled. Moon's cronies stood up behind her. "You think you're soooooo special just because you used to be a clan cat," Berry smirked. "At least I don't need a pack of mindless cronies backing up my every word." Berry suddenly had a longing for Ruthless's company. Moon gaped at her. "But-but. IT'S NOT FAAAAAAIIIIIIRRRRR!" She cried. "I always win. I'm the best!" Berry shrugged. "Spoiled brat." She turned and stalked out of the eating center. She walked to her and Ruthless's mini-cave, flopping on her nest. Ruthless gave her a surprised look. "You're late," He said. Berry turned to him. "I'm sorry. I ran into Moon," That wasn't the whole truth, but it was enough to satisfy Berry. Ruthless nodded. "They can be...difficult. How did you handle it?" He asked. Berry winced. "I insulted her to her face. That shut her up reeeeeaaaal quick," Ruthless laughed. "I'm glad you told her," He said. "She needs to be put in her place," They both laughed. The rest of the night, they talked and joked. Berry felt something tingle inside her. Did she care for this cat?

Raincloud's POV

Swankit and Firekit. Where are they? In Starclan, no cat can get hurt. But cats sure can get into trouble. "Swankit!" Raincloud roared. "Come out right now!" She heard giggling and whirled around. "Sush, she'll hear us," Came a small voice. Raincloud sighed. "Swankit, Firekit, I know you're there." Two dejected-looking kits came from the bush. "We wanted to explore!" Protested Firekit. His almost-red pelt rippling indignantly. Swankit's pure white pelt stuck out like a thorn in the bramble-ridded forest they decided to hide in. Raincloud smiled mischievously. "How would you like to spy on the older cats? They're having a meeting, and they didn't invite us," Swankit smiled. "Really?" She asked softly. Raincloud smiled. "Really. C'mon. The others are waiting." They ran to the clearing where Rushkit, Palekit, Flowerkit, Flickerkit, Leafkit, Starlingkit, Blackkit, Birdkit, Snowkit, Mudkit, and Bluekit were waiting. Raincloud really wanted to go by herself, but the kits wouldn't say anything if they went with her. "Remember, sneaky," They all nodded, and they went to the space where Yellowpelt was already speaking. "Cats of Starclan," Yellowpelt began. "You all know that a terrible crisis is at hand," I didn't know. She thought angrily. "Hopelight will save us, but someone needs to go in her dreams to tell her," The assembled cats looked around. "
What will happen to mother?" Birdkit asked quietly. Birdkit's mother was Icestripe's kit. Icestripe was said to die in a prophecy. Maybe this one. "She'll be fine," Raincloud whispered. Birdkit loved her mother, but wanted Icestripe to live in the clans for a long time. Flowerkit and Flickerkit, Twins, Spoke up. "I think Icestripe will live the longest," Flowerkit declared. "I do too!" Flickerkit said. Leafkit and Blackkit glared at them. "Shoosh, They're talking," "Hopelight should be visited by someone like me," Blackeye said. Tawnycloud snickered. You would scare her away," Snowkit wrinkled her nose. "He sure would," Bluekit tackled him, putting on a mean face. "Would This scare him away?" Snowkit pretended to die. Rushkit hissed. "Be quiet," Yellowpelt called for silence. "I will think about it," With that, he turned and walked away. "What a waste," Mudkit grumbled. Rushkit sighed. Oh, well," Raincloud hustled them away, not wanting them to get caught. "Play quietly," She said to them. "I'll be right back," Without waiting for an answer, she slipped to the direction to which Yellowpelt stalked off to.

"Yellowpelt!" Raincloud called. "Listen to me!" Yellowpelt turned. "Yes?" Raincloud took a breath. "I could visit Hopelight," She said. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal. But whoever visited her would be her mentor on how to save the world. Yellowpelt's eyes flashed with anger. "You were spying?" Raincloud took a step back. "You never kept things from me! I wanted to find out," Yellowpelt shook his head sadly. "I knew you would want to be her mentor. That's why I didn't let you come," Raincloud shook her head, unmoved. "Father, I can do this," Raincloud's father turned sharply. "I'm not your father!" He roared. "Go away, Raincloud!" Tears streaming down her cheeks, Raincloud fled.

Hey! And Raincloud's father is Yellowpelt. But he doesn't like it. Why?

I love endings like this.
