A/N: Day two of Blackinnon Week 2020!
Prompt: their first kiss.
Hirquiticke
Marlene stood with her back against the wall of the common room as everyone around them celebrated that James had captained the team to Quidditch Cup Champions. The party had started epically but as the younger classmen had drifted back to their dorms, things had quieted down.
"You and I should find someplace a bit more private," Simon, a Ravenclaw she'd hooked up with a few weeks ago slid up next to her.
Marlene brought her bottle to her lips. "No, we shouldn't."
"What, I wasn't good enough for you?" His volume increased a few notches and Marlene rolled her eyes.
"Don't embarrass yourself. You're clingy, Simon, I'm not interested in clingy. Find yourself a girl who wants what you want."
"Clingy?" He looked ready to explode, but when James looked over at the pair Simon apparently thought better of it.
Having the Gryffindor Quidditch captain as a friend definitely had its perks.
"Fine. You weren't worth my time anyway." He pushed off the wall and stalked out of the Gryffindor common room.
Marlene watched him go as she finished her bottle. Maybe she'd call it a night too.
"What a prick," A voice sounded next to her and Marlene looked over at Sirius Black. "He should have known no one clings to the famed Marlene McKinnon."
"The things I put up with," She nodded and smiled when he came to stand next to her.
"Do you want another?" He tapped her empty bottle with his knuckle.
"Nah," she shook her head, "I was actually thinking about calling it a night."
"Tired, McKinnon?" He bumped her shoulder.
"Bored," she pulled out the word and grinned when Sirius laughed.
"We can't have that, there must be something that could keep you engaged for the rest of the party."
He stepped closer to her so their arms could brush against each other.
"I don't know, Black, do you really think you could keep me entertained?" She licked her lips and smirked when Sirius' eyes dropped to watch the action.
"You've never been with the best, McKinnon," Sirius leant in closer. "I guarantee that I will keep you far more entertained than anyone in the past has ever dreamt of."
"Big talk," Marlene looked up at him. "How do I know you won't end up being another Simon?"
Sirius smirked at her. "How do I know you won't end up being another one of the several girls I've indulged who've ended up clingy and heartbroken?"
Marlene scoffed, "In your dreams."
"The sentiment is the same," Sirius shrugged, "All I'm saying is that if entertainment is what you're looking for, I am the best."
Marlene rolled her eyes. Sirius had always been on her radar, and she got along well with him in class, but he was usually wrapped up in his own world, and Marlene wasn't one to go begging for attention. But with him this close, and the stories she'd heard in the dorms and lavatories, and with him offering a chance to show each other where their reputations had come from, she decided to indulge herself.
She brought her lips just a fraction of an inch from his before whispering.
"Prove it."
Then she pulled back.
Sirius followed her, slanting his lips over hers with a softness that made Marlene's breath catch.
He noticed as he smirked against her.
"Not so bored now, are you?"
"Shut up," Marlene ran her hands into his hair and pulled her black nails across his scalp.
Sirius spun around and pressed her back against the wall as he kissed her further.
"We should get out of here," he murmured against her after they'd been bumped by other students for the third time.
"Lily usually goes up about now." Marlene looked up at him as she tried to gain control of her breathing.
"The lads will be down here till the last, come on," Sirius took her hand and Marlene was shocked by the security that his grip instilled in her.
"This is just entertainment," Marlene suddenly felt like she needed to lay down rules.
Things felt different for the first time, and she didn't like it. She was on good terms with Sirius and she didn't want this to throw everything off. They weren't friends, but the last thing she wanted was problems with Sirius in class or in general.
Sirius stopped in front of his dorm door and looked down at her with an intensity that gave her goosebumps.
"I promised you one night with the best, McKinnon, nothing else."
Something about the way he looked at her still made her feel like everything was real for the first time, but he was obviously on the same page as she was, so she tried to push the nervous feeling away and replace it with her standard indifference.
"We'll see if you're the best," Marlene shrugged, "You still have a lot to prove, Black."
Sirius pulled her into him and brought his lips lightly to hers as he whispered.
"I like my chances, McKinnon."
Then he pushed her into his room and pressed her against the door as it closed.
