Hailey hurried down the stairs when she heard the knocking on the front door. She opened it and smiled, whispering, "Hey, good morning."

"Morning," Will yawned and stepped in the house dragging his suitcase behind him.

"Thank you for coming," Hailey quickly hugged him and closed the door, "Drew's still sleeping."

"Lucky guy," Will rubbed his face and slipped off his shoes.

"Long night?" Hailey asked.

Will nodded, "I got about four hours of sleep."

"I'm sorry," Hailey said softly.

Will shook his head, "Not a problem. Where's Jay?"

"I'm here," Jay came down the stairs with two suitcases."

"I could have grabbed mine," Hailey said and put her hand out.

"Not a problem at all," Jay passed her her luggage and patted Will's arm, "Thanks for watching Drew. We should be back Thursday night."

"Sounds good," Will yawned again, "Sorry."

"I'm going to grab us some coffee," Hailey walked into the kitchen.

"So school starts at 8:30," Jay led Will to the couch, "We usually wake him up around 7:15 so he can get dressed and eat breakfast in time. Since it's Monday, he'll want a plain bagel with strawberry jelly. Hailey left a list of his breakfasts on the fridge."

Will chuckled, "He's very particular, isn't he?"

Jay rolled his eyes and leaned against the couch, "Yeah, but," he shrugged, "It's okay. It's him and we love him."

Hailey came over with two travel cups of coffee, "Should we go say goodbye to him?"

"Sure," Jay straightened up and took the coffee from her, setting the cups on the coffee table, then walking up to Drew's room. He pushed open the door and laughed softly, "He always manages to curl up in a little ball."

"It's cute," Hailey smiled and followed him to the bed. She knelt down on the carpet and lightly touched Drew's face, "Drew," she whispered, "Dad and I are leaving right now."

Jay sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed Drew's leg, "Can you wake up for a minute?"

Drew groaned quietly and covered his face, "It's not time for school yet."

Hailey laughed and shook her head, "It's not, but Dad and I are leaving, remember? Uncle Will's downstairs and he's going to watch you for the next few days."

"Oh," Drew yawned and sat up. He stretched his arms out and rubbed his eyes, "Will you call me?"

"Every day," Jay said and pulled Drew out from under the covers. He held him on his lap, "We'll miss you."

Drew buried his face in Jay's neck, "Miss you too."

Hailey rubbed his back softly, "It'll go by super fast, okay? We love you so much."

Drew turned and reached out to her.

Hailey smiled and grabbed him, tugging him off the bed, "It'll be okay."

He hugged her and nodded, "I love you."

Hailey kissed his head, "You can sleep for a few more hours, okay?"

Drew nodded and yawned as he climbed back into bed.

Jay tucked him in, "Be good please and have fun."

Drew smiled a little and closed his eyes, instantly curling back up into bed.

Jay chuckled and stood up. He set a hand on Drew's back before walking out with Hailey.

Will looked over from the couch, "He okay?"

"He's very tired," Hailey laughed softly and put her coat on.

Will nodded, "I know the feeling."

"Call us if anything at all comes up," Jay said.

"Don't worry about us," Will smiled, "We'll be okay."

"Thank you so much again for doing this," Hailey passed Jay his coat.

"You're welcome," Will yawned and covered his mouth, "Now get going. Beat the morning Wisconsin traffic."

Jay laughed as he slipped his coat on, "Talk to you soon."

Will nodded and fell back to lay on the couch.

Hailey and Jay walked out to her car with their suitcases. Once packing them in the trunk and settling in, Jay started the seven hour drive to his family's cabin.

Will placed Drew's breakfast in front of him and sat at the table, "Are you excited for this week? What should we do?"

Drew shrugged and bit into his bagel.

Will slowly nodded and sipped his coffee, "Well, I'm excited. I like hanging out with you."

"Mom and Dad are going up north to Wisconsin," Drew said.

"Yeah, to the cabin that your dad and I used to go to when we were kids," Will smiled, "Pretty cool, huh?"

"Not at all," Drew wiped his mouth.

Will's face fell, "What?"

"There are black bears in Wisconsin," Drew set his bagel down and stared at it. He sniffled and rubbed his eyes.

"Hey, hey," Will said softly and scooted his chair closer to Drew's, "There is nothing to worry about. Your mom and dad are going to be super safe where they're at. They probably won't even see a bear at all."

"You don't know that," Drew sighed. He quickly got up and hurried to the living room. He breathed shakily while fumbling to find something in the basket on the side table.

"What're you looking for?" Will asked.

Drew pulled out a small container of play-doh and opened it, squishing it between his fingers. He sat down on the floor and played with it.

Will chewed his lip and spotted his phone on the kitchen table. He debated calling Hailey, but didn't want to bother her over something like this.

Drew continued for a few minutes and then put the play-doh away. He sighed and walked back to the table to eat more of his bagel.

"Feel better?" Will finished his coffee.

"Yeah," Drew mumbled and ate his breakfast.

Will nodded and lightly rubbed Drew's arm.

Drew smiled a little at him and swallowed his food, "Thanks for staying with me."

"No where else I'd rather be," Will smiled back.

Hailey laughed and fed Jay another piece of muffin, "Good?"

"Delicious," Jay chuckled and swallowed, "You're the best driving partner I could ask for."

Hailey shook her head, "We haven't done a road trip in forever."

"Been a bit busy," Jay nodded and sipped his water.

Hailey looked at the clock, "Drew's probably eating breakfast right now."

"I hope he's okay going back," Jay said.

Hailey bit her lip, "Should we have waited a day or two to go?"

"He'll be fine," Jay glanced toward her, "He's a strong kid."

Hailey looked out the window, "He's not, Jay. This was a mistake, we should turn around."

"We've been in the car over three hours, we are not turning around," Jay said.

"I don't know, I guess it would be pretty stupid to go back," Hailey played with her fingers.

"He needs to learn how to cope and deal with things on his own," Jay nodded.

"He's seven, Jay, seven," Hailey snapped.

"Hailey, breathe please," Jay set his hand on her thigh, "Give me your hand."

Hailey breathed out angrily and set her hand in his.

"There you go," Jay rubbed his thumb over her fingers, "Everything's going to be okay. We'll call him after school today, I promise."

Hailey took a deep breath and closed her eyes, "I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize," Jay said.

Hailey held his hand tightly and slowly calmed down.

"That's my girl," Jay whispered and pointed the air toward her, "Feeling better?"

Hailey nodded, "Yeah, I'm okay now."

"And soon enough, we can watch the sun rise along the lake and have fires at night," Jay smiled, "Perfect way to just relax and do nothing."

"You're right," Hailey squeezed his hand, "It'll be fun."

"So much fun," Jay nodded, "Just me and you and Wisconsin."

Hailey laughed softly and looked back out the window.

"Mom and Dad usually wait at that bench with Mr. Adam or Ms. Kim when school ends," Drew pointed out as he walked with Will up to the school.

"Got it," Will nodded, "I will be there right when the bell rings."

"Thank you," Drew said, "Okay, I can go now."

"Okay," Will squatted down, "Have fun, be kind, make good decisions, you're awesome."

Drew laughed and walked backwards, "Bye."

"See you!" Will waved and stood up to watch Drew go into the school. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, silently dreading going back to work.

"Hey, Will, how's it going?" Adam walked over to him.

"Hey," Will shook his hand, "I'm good, how're you?"

Adam nodded and walked with him out to the parking lot, "Doing good. How's babysitting going so far?"

"He's been awake just over an hour, but so far so good," Will chuckled.

Adam smiled, "He's a good kid. Gives them a run for their money, but they like it. Cara's a little pistol too. We've got our hands full."

"What you guys did is amazing," Will shook his head, "You two are planning on adopting Cara too, right?"

"Soon, yeah," Adam rubbed his jaw, "We're excited."

Will smiled at him, "Are you heading to work now?"

Adam nodded and turned to go toward his car, "I'll see you here later, but if anything comes up, Kim and I can definitely help. Actually, anyone from the unit could probably help, we all really like the kid."

"I'll keep that in mind, thanks," Will said before turning to go toward his car.

"I spy something brown," Jay said.

Hailey laughed, "You're an ass. Literally everything is brown."

"Not at all," Jay chuckled, "Come on, guess."

"Um," Hailey sighed and looked around, "Is it outside of the car?"

"It was," Jay nodded.

"Was?" Hailey pushed his arm, "Jay!"

"Come on, guess," Jay laughed with her.

Hailey breathed out, "Okay, brown, something brown…a bird?"

"I mean, you're close," Jay shrugged.

"How close?" Hailey smiled.

"I'd give it away if I said anything more," Jay said.

Hailey rolled her eyes, "Fine, whatever. Okay, a tree?"

"Ouch, not even close," Jay chuckled.

"So mean," Hailey said, "I give up, tell me."

"You're gonna kill me," Jay smirked.

"Probably," Hailey teased.

Jay laughed, "A deer."

"A deer?" Hailey asked, "You're ridiculous. When the hell did we pass a deer?"

"Like a minute ago back there," Jay jerked his thumb behind him.

"You suck," Hailey shook her head.

Jay's phone rang and he looked at the screen, "Why would Grace call us?"

Hailey's face fell, "I told you something would happen with Drew."

Jay shook his head and clicked the green button on the screen, "Hey Grace. You're on speaker, Hailey and I are driving."

"Driving where?" Grace asked.

Hailey raised her eyebrows, "Everything okay?"

"Well, I know this isn't ideal, so I don't want to completely alarm you, but Nicole's gone into labor," Grace said.

Hailey's blood ran cold and she froze in her seat.

Jay swallowed and tried controlling his nerves so he wouldn't crash the car.

"Jay? Hailey? Are you still there?"

Jay checked behind him and then pulled the car over to the side of the highway. He blinked a few times and then cleared his throat, "Can you repeat that?"

"Yeah," Grace said, "Nicole went into labor. I just got a call from Chicago Med and she's far enough along that they think the best option is for her to have the baby."

"He…he's…she's not full term," Hailey choked out.

"I know, but I'm heading there right now and I promise to keep you updated," Grace stated, "Where are you two?"

"Wisconsin," Jay breathed and looked at Hailey.

"Wisconsin?" Grace asked, "How far into Wisconsin are you?"

Hailey felt tears come to her eyes and put her head in her hands.

Jay stroked his hand over her hair, "We've been on the road for four hours."

Grace was quiet for a beat before saying, "Okay, not a big deal. You can't see the baby for three days anyways, remember? So I will wait until Nicole gives birth and then I'll call you back to update you. Since we have three days, you can-"

"We're coming home," Jay interrupted her.

Hailey looked up with tears falling down her face and she nodded.

"All right," Grace said, "Once you get back here, call me and we'll check in with each other. You won't be able to see the baby until he's three days old, but I promise to keep you informed every chance I get. I'm almost there, so I'm gonna go. Drive safe and I'll talk soon."

Jay ended the call and shakily set his hands back on the steering wheel.

"This can't be happening," Hailey breathed.

"I might be sick," Jay unbuckled his seatbelt.

"What?" Hailey watched him step out of the car and hurry to the side of the road where he threw up into the grass. "Jay," she whispered and got out of the car. She walked over to him and set her hand on his back, "Hey, breathe."

Jay coughed and steadied himself by setting his hands on his knees, "You've got to be kidding me, right? He's going to be born today. It's five weeks early."

Hailey nodded and rubbed circles on his back.

Jay threw up again and shook his head.

Hailey wiped her eyes and sniffled, "Let's get back to the car and get you some water."

Jay nodded and went to sit back down in the driver's seat. Hailey opened a fresh water bottle and passed it to him, "Here you go." She brushed her hand over his cheek as he drank it.

"Goddamn," Jay breathed out and rested his head back against the seat.

"Feeling okay?" Hailey asked.

"Not at all, but I don't think I'll get sick again," Jay said.

Hailey nodded and blinked against the tears in her eyes.

"Well," Jay started the car and drove back onto the road, "What the hell do we do?"

Hailey cried and shook her head, "I don't know, I don't know what to do."

Jay reached over and rubbed her arm.

She gripped his hand between both of hers, "I'm so scared. This cannot be good."

Jay squeezed her hand, "At least she's having him in a hospital."

Hailey scoffed, "The one thing she's doing right."

"Well, she's also giving him to us, that's a good option," Jay said.

Hailey nodded slightly and breathed shakily.

Jay drove off the highway and quickly found a turn-around to head back to Chicago.

Hailey weakly laughed and tilted her head back, "And to think I wanted to willingly turn around an hour ago."

"It's like you knew," Jay smiled slightly.

Hailey wiped her face and whimpered, "I hope he's safe."

Jay nodded, "We have to send all our positive thoughts. Just like we told Drew."

"Drew," Hailey breathed, "Jay, what're we going to tell Drew?"

"I…I don't know," Jay sighed, "We should probably tell Will and Intelligence too."

"And my mom," Hailey said.

Jay dropped her hand to pat her leg, "Let's do this – let's drive for an hour and then we'll make calls, okay? Let's wrap our heads around what the hell is happening and maybe we'll hear something from Grace by then too."

"Okay," Hailey swallowed, "We can do that."

Jay nodded, "There's nothing else we really can do."

Will was walking back to the front desk when his phone started buzzing in his pocket. He waited until he was seated to take it out and look at the screen. He rolled his eyes, having predicted that Jay and Hailey would turn overprotective and call him.

"What's up?" he answered.

"You at Med?" Jay asked.

"Yeah, but my shift's going to be done in time to pick up Drew, so no worries," Will spun a pen around, "Everything okay?"

"Nicole's gone into labor," Jay stated.

Will blinked and sat up, "Isn't that the girl who's giving you her baby?"

"Yes," Jay said.

Will rolled his chair to a computer and started looking through the patient list for the building, "What do you need from me?"

"I have no clue," Jay's voice broke, "We're heading back home, but it's going to be about another three hours or so."

"Hey, everything's going to be okay, I'll make sure of it," Will said, "I'll go find her and check in then call you back, okay?"

"Mhmm. Got it," Jay breathed.

"I'll call you in a bit, just focus on getting home safe," Will ended the call and rubbed his face.

Kevin and Kim were leading the discussion on the newest case Intelligence was given when Hank's phone rang. He glanced at it and decided to answer, "Thought I gave you the week off?"

Everyone looked over and watched him lean against Vanessa's desk.

"You did," Hailey whimpered, "But, Hank…the baby's being born. Nicole's in labor. We-We're heading home."

Hank swallowed and walked away from everyone, "Are you sure?"

"Grace called us about an hour ago to tell us," Hailey took a deep breath, "We just need a bit to figure things out."

"I'll send Vanessa over there now to see what she can find out," Hank said, "Try not to stress too much right now, okay?"

"Yeah," Hailey sniffled.

"Take care of yourself, kiddo, we're here for you," Hank heard Hailey cry quietly and hung up the phone. He rubbed his face and walked back to the rest of the unit.

"What's going on?" Adam asked.

"Was that Hailey and Jay?" Vanessa stepped forward.

Hank nodded and tossed her her coat, "You need to head to Med. The mother of Jay and Hailey's baby went into labor."

"Dammit," Kevin breathed and sat against his desk.

"Is the baby going to be okay? Do they know?" Kim looked between everyone.

Hank shrugged, "I have no idea, but we do know that he's most likely addicted to cocaine and he's being born about a month early, right?"

"Five weeks," Vanessa nodded.

"So we need to be there for them when they get back," Hank nodded, "This isn't going to be easy, but if there's one thing we're good at, it's supporting each other. We're not leaving any member behind no matter how small, understood?"

A/N: Gosh, I've been so excited to write this chapter from the second I decided how it was going to happen. I'm not sure if I'll be able to write a chapter tomorrow, so it's like a mini cliffhanger. I hope you liked it though and are just as excited about the baby as I am. Talk soon!
