Alexis Rodgers

Chapter 27

Kate drove herself and Alexis into the precinct the next morning. Kate wasn't bashful at all. Kate pulled Alexis into her and kissed her completely and thoroughly while everyone or anyone watched.

"I love you! Have a nice day and remember to tell Ray thanks." It had been him more than Alexis who had pulled her up onto the roof and hadn't let her die.

Kate stepped into the elevator and played with the little black ring that was on her finger. They might not actually get married until a year from now, but she was very happy that Alexis didn't hate her any longer. That meant so very much to her.

The second the elevator doors opened she saw her Homicide floor was a buzz of activity. "The FBI certainly didn't waste any time," Kate said to herself as she walked toward her office but stopped at Eva's desk instead.

"I see they took over," Kate commented.

"They were here before any of us. That one's in charge. Her name is Jordan Shaw." Eva pointed to a woman. Kate was a little surprised. Maybe one day women would take over the world. Provided the men didn't blow it up first.

"Shaw." Kate thought she knew that name but couldn't place it so she continued to her office and had just barely reached it.

"Captain Beckett? Special Agent Jordan Shaw. Sorry for the mess but you called and I was assigned. We learned you have a past with Special Agent Sorenson so I got the call." The FBI might be overbearing from time to time, or all the time, and Jordan knew it. But they also knew not to assign agents that might allow their emotions to get in the way so Sorenson was going to sit this one out even if he was in New York City.

Kate shook her hand. "Thanks for coming. Let me know what you need and I'll try and make it happen." Kate needed very badly to get past this. This might be her last chance at Alexis. If she screwed up again that might be it.

"I've read your file. It didn't say anything about being married." Jordan pointed at the ring on her left hand.

That had Kate raising her hand and looking at her simple ring. Kate had no doubt that the ring she had bought had cost a lot more, but she didn't care. This ring came from Alexis's heart and that was what she cared about.

"Engaged. Last night, actually. Alexis Rodgers." Kate smiled and began to glow as far as Jordan could tell.

"Officer Alexis Rodgers out of this precinct. First in her class at the Police Academy. Also previously known as Alexis Castle, daughter of Richard Castle now known as Richard Rodgers. …Interesting family." Jordan was sure there was a story going on behind this.

"You've done your research." Kate was impressed.

"My team will be talking with everyone in this precinct over the course of the next few days. Does the police department allow married couples to work together?" Jordan raised an eyebrow as she asked that question.

"They discourage officers dating or marrying other officers in the same precinct, yes," Kate said then continued, "but it's not prohibited and since for now, at least I'm still Captain, I get to do as I please. And when Alexis gets off her shift she comes in and helps with any homicide case that we might have. Usually helping Eva. Her goal is to be a homicide detective then maybe one day the Police Commissioner."

"Aggressive. I'll have to remember to talk with her personally. Maybe I can talk her into being a Special Agent. The precinct is yours, Captain. We'll try to stay out of the way as much as possible." Jordan turned to leave. "Oh, and congratulations."

Kate sat down and turned on her computer while smiling broadly. Alexis had forgiven her and they were getting married just as soon as they had time to talk about it and plan for it.

Ray was waiting for Alexis and watched her come up to their cruiser. "We good, kid?" Ray questioned her.

Instead of answering his question she walked around the car and he found himself in a hug. "Thank you for yesterday. I owe you one." She was going to pay it off too. Just as soon as she figured out what to get him or do for him.

Ray started the car and checked that everything was working properly then left the garage so they could start their day as Alexis checked in using the radio.

"What's this?" Alexis had used her left hand for the radio since she was in the passenger seat and Ray grabbed her left hand.

Alexis blushed. "We got engaged last night."

"You and the captain? I thought you were furious with her last night. I was thinking your red hair was about ready to light on fire." Alexis didn't look nor was she happy with the captain last night.

"I was. Still am a little. Fire, really?" Alexis looked at him for that comment.

"I've even got an extra fire extinguisher in the trunk just because of you," Ray teased her since he was lying through his teeth.

"You're going to need it if you keep that up," Alexis informed him.

"There's the redhead I know. Answer the call, we're close enough." Ray pointed at the radio and flipped on the lights and siren. They had their first call of the day already and the day had just started.

###V##][##V###

Kate had skipped lunch yet again and spent her day going up and down the stairs, checking on each and every division within her precinct. In-between that time she filled out her incident report that Internal Affairs would need. She left out what Ray had done to Maddox but she didn't leave anything else out.

Whatever happened to her she felt she deserved it. She had indeed made a big mistake and she was willing to pay the price for it. Thankfully her stupidity hadn't cost her the love of her life. Their relationship might be strained but it wasn't broken.

Fortunately they hadn't gotten a new homicide case because the FBI had taken their whiteboard so they could copy down what was on it.

Kate got up and went to check on them and saw Jordan and some others in the room they had commandeered. "What is that thing?" The board they were using didn't look anything like her white board.

"Smart board. Now if it was just smart enough to catch or even find our guy I'd be happy," Jordan said and Kate watched someone add and move information like it was a giant computer screen.

"Do I want to know how much it costs?" Kate asked since she was betting her budget wouldn't allow it.

"Probably not. Just think of it as a good use of your tax dollars," Jordan told her. "You got time to be interviewed?" Jordan was ready for her.

"I'm all yours. My office or the conference room?" Kate inquired since her office could be intimidating and the conference room was far less formal.

"Conference room will do fine." Jordan didn't want Kate to be on the defensive.

They closed the door and sat down. "I've read your report. I want to hear what you didn't write in your report." Jordan said and waited patiently.

"I only just finished writing it." Okay it had been maybe an hour or so but she had just finished.

"I'm a fast reader. I know that's the official report but I want to hear what isn't in it. Anything you say will never leave this room, I give you my word." Jordan's cell phone rang. "Give me a minute." Jordan saw who was calling.

"Hi, honey." Jordan listened for a moment. "Hi, baby." Jordan's voice changed and she got all mushy. "Yes, mommy is off killing dragons. I have to keep you and daddy safe." Jordan listened. "I don't really know when I'll be home. Next week some time. I love you. Put daddy on the phone, sweetie.

"I really should be home next week." Jordan listened. "I love you too, honey." She ended the call and looked at Kate.

"You have time for a husband and family?" Kate was impressed.

"My husband knew what he was getting into when we got married. Our daughter knows mommy's off slaying dragons to keep her safe. I miss a few things being gone but my husband has gotten really good at using a video camera so I get to see everything eventually. Thankfully I'm not out of Chicago all that often. Chicago can be a busy city for all the wrong reasons as well."

Jordan stepped back into her FBI persona. "So, Kate, tell me why you, the captain of a precinct, is so actively involved with this case and what it means to you."

###V##][##V###

Jordan had what she wanted and stopped Kate at the door. "Your man is obviously a hired killer and highly trained. Just who hired him is what we're going to find out. I'll be gone tomorrow. I'm going to have a little talk with your previous captain."

"You know where Roy moved to?" Kate had no idea. Then thought she might have meant Gates but didn't think so.

"It took us most of today, but yes. I'll be gone all day. My number two will be in charge while I'm gone. Anything you want me to tell him?" Jordan just might pass it along.

"Just why?" Kate told her.

Jordan nodded. "Yeah, my question exactly."

"Miss Alexis Rodgers. Care to come in here and join me?" Jordan saw an officer with really red hair which easily identified her.

"Just tell her the truth, Lex." Kate hugged her and went into her office.

"I'm Special Agent Jordan Shaw. Captain Beckett called in the FBI and I was assigned to the case. Please have a seat.

"I'm told that Kevin Ryan, a homicide detective, called you on your cell phone so that Captain Beckett and Homicide Detective Javier Esposito would have back-up as required." Jordan started there.

Alexis thought about lying for a second but her dad had taught her not to. "Yes, ma'am. We know the police channels are usually monitored so I'm guessing he thought it was safer that way."

Jordan instantly liked her. She was a fast thinker. "I read where you shot him. May I ask why you didn't shoot to kill him? He had just thrown Captain Beckett off the roof." If they were together and about to be married, Jordan was thinking she would want this guy dead.

"I'm a rookie. It was actually the very first time I've ever fired my weapon when not aiming at a paper target. I'm still not sure I'm ready to kill someone. Guess we'll see. Kate taught me how to fire my weapon. So I decided that if we were going to get answers we needed him alive so I shot for his legs. I'm still little amazed I hit him with both rounds." Alexis would have been happy with just one.

"Well, you did. One of your rounds destroyed his knee. He lost most of that leg last night in emergency surgery." It was one more reason to talk to this young lady about joining the FBI. Maybe even get her assigned to her team. Only problem was she might not want to leave New York City.

"Sorry." Alexis had meant to stop him, not blow his leg off.

"Don't be sorry. A hired killer that might get out on bail or out of prison 20 years later means going back to what he was doing it going to be far more difficult with only one good leg. Besides, you gave us a person to question.

"I haven't yet read your report of your partners since neither of them have written them, but I'm looking forward to reading them. I'm told congratulations are in order," Jordan said.

Alexis spun the ring that was on her finger now. It needed to be adjusted since her fingers were too slender for it. "Thanks. You're not upset that it's Kate?"

"No. I'm sure you two will run across a few seriously conservative bigots eventually that will think you two are two very sick people, but not me. Or my husband and no one on my team. If you can remember to send me an invitation I'll try and show up with my family to attend it." Jordan got up and let Alexis go work on her written report.

Jordan showed up at her smart board. "What have we got?"

"Our first road block. We've learned Cole Maddox's real name but the military is denying us access to his history."

"Well I can fix that. They want to play hardball they came to the right person. How's our sweep of the precinct?" She knew her phone was secure but was the precinct?

"We've learned from their technical team that this place was filled with bugs at one time. She even showed them to us. Definitely cheap and over the counter. Fortunately the place is still clean."

"Good. Sweep the place again tomorrow and set up a schedule to sweep this place three times a week. Don't make it easy to anticipate. Mix it up. Now let's see who our guy is." Jordan made a call and applied some pressure on the military to cough up the information she wanted.

"Who's watching our guy?" Jordan queried.

"Two NYPD and Michael from us. We have a schedule to relieve him as does the NYPD."

"So Beckett's doing her job. I want you to start digging into Captain Beckett's past as well as Alexis Rodgers. She thinks our guy is involved in a particular case. Let's see if we can find out why she thinks that." Jordan studied her smart board intently.

###V##][##V###

It was late and this was Alexis's very first official report that involved a shooting. She had already learned that she and Ray were on the sidelines pending the investigation by Internal Affairs. She felt it was a clean shooting. After all the guy had just thrown Kate off a roof.

Apparently she wasn't as fast as Ray was at writing a report. Though as she thought about that, he hadn't been involved in the shooting. He was her backup while she was Kate's backup, thanks to Kevin.

Alexis watched as Ray delivered his report to Kate and was told to make a copy of it and give the original to the FBI.

Ray stopped to check on her. "You good, kid?"

"I'm fine. I've still got maybe an hour. Can you do me a favor?" Alexis had an idea.

"Name it." She was his partner after all and she was so far good at her job.

Alexis fished money out of her pocket and handed it to him. "Buy Kevin a six pack for him to take home. He's the reason we were there at all or Kate would be dead now." She wouldn't have been able to hang onto the side of the building forever.

"You got it. I'll even throw in five bucks and get the good stuff. I'd say see you tomorrow but we're sidelined until Internal Affairs is happy." Ray left her to get Kevin his beer. At least he was getting paid for his time off.

###V##][##V###

Kate kissed Alexis as a naked Alexis went into the bathroom to take a shower while Kate dressed in her normal panties, bra, t-shirt, and fuzzy socks and went downstairs to start dinner.

Kate was cooking while sipping her glass of wine as Alexis joined her and sat at the breakfast bar. "One glass of ice cold Coke." Kate set it on the counter.

"Thanks." Alexis picked up her glass and took a nice long drink.

"You're still angry with me." Kate could hear it in her voice.

"You think! What am I supposed to do if you get yourself killed? What did you think that was going to do to my heart?" Alexis fired back.

"I wasn't thinking –"

Alexis exploded. "You're damn right you didn't! If you'd been thinking you would have known Kevin was right in the first place. But no, you had to go charging in with Javi all alone. Maybe you should spend a month at the Academy and relearn what you were supposed to have learned the first time!"

"I'm still sorry. I did promise never to do it again and I handed over the entire case to the FBI." Kate was done chasing after who had killed her mother. It was up to Jordan Shaw and the FBI now.

"That's the only reason I'm wearing this." Alexis held up her left hand to show off her engagement ring. "It's a really nice ring, though. How did you get it?" She had left really late last night and suddenly she had a ring to give her.

"I called Castle for a favor. He said he knew a guy and he actually did," Kate said and pulled down plates to put their dinner on.

"Dad knows about this?" That was news to her.

"He even offered to pay half of this three grand ring the jeweler had but I said no. It was my ring to buy you, not his. So I bought that one. Hurt my checkbook a little but you're worth it." Kate sat down two plates filled with dinner.

"I didn't spend anywhere near that much on yours." Alexis suddenly felt bad about that.

Kate sat next to her. "I don't need a fancy ring, Lex. Anything that tells me that you still love me after what I did is all I really need." Kate leaned across and kissed her.

"So you're probably thinking of tying me to the bed tonight and doing evil things to my body again?" Actually Kate was hoping so.

"Not tonight. Since I have tomorrow off I'm going to take a taxi into the city and find a whip I can use on you after I tie you to the bed. I might even get you a gag so you can't wake the neighbors. I'm not big on this bondage stuff but you apparently are, so I'm going to do really evil things to your body while I work out just how many orgasms I can get you to scream out," Alexis told her.

Kate took a bite of her dinner to hide the fact that she was excited by the prospect of what Alexis was planning. Okay, so maybe they had reached the end of what Alexis was willing to do but they hadn't yet reached the end of what Kate was willing to do.

"Since you have tomorrow off, are you planning to search Central Park for a space where we can make love in public?" Kate teased her since she wasn't sure Alexis was willing to be that adventurous. It might have been just talk.

"That's right! I almost forgot about that. I'll do that tomorrow. Maybe get some little American flags to stake the place so I can find it again." Alexis was happy again.

###V##][##V###

While Alexis might think that she was making Kate suffer by putting on the strap-on and fucking Kate's pussy and her ass that night, Kate had actually climaxed both times so it was basically a win for both of them.

Then since Alexis didn't have to get up early in the morning she woke up and found Kate's head squarely between her spread legs until she climaxed twice that morning.

"Have fun on your errands." Kate wrapped her arms around her and kissed Alexis before going down to the car, driving into work, and dealing with the FBI again.
