The next morning, Bomber and Nav walked up to the bridge together with everyone staring at them. No one had seen them so close especially after that fish incident! 2dads were the most confused when they walked past him. He stared at them as they walked past nearly holding hands.
"Morning 2dads." Nav said to him.
"Morning." 2dads said with a puzzled face.
Nav and Bomber laughed as they walked past. RO joined 2dads on the way up to the bridge. They both watched with awe of the two women as they just kept laughing and walking at the same time.
"What do you think they're up to?" RO whispered to 2dads.
"I don't know but I don't like it." 2dads whispered back.
RO and 2dads looked at each other and nodded. They would have to keep an eye on the two women from now on. They headed up the stairs to the bridge where hopefully they would be safe!
Kate and Buffer were already on the bridge waiting for them. Everyone was still wondering when Mike would be back on the bridge full time but didn't mind Kate in charge for now.
"Anything happened over night Ma'am?" Bomber asked as everyone went to their seats.
"A few calls from ships stuck in the storm but nothing major." Kate answered.
Bomber nodded as Spider and her went to the scanners to see if there was anything else. Nav got about checking where they are and if anything is around them. RO listened out for any communications and Charge was checking all of the ship was in good condition.
"Seems to be a quiet day." Buffer said for once smiling.
"Don't speak too soon Buff." Kate pointed at him with her pen.
"After the days we've had, we deserve a calm day."
"We do but doesn't mean we're going to get one."
Buffer couldn't disagree with that statement. Now he had said it, he probably jinxed it now. Kate just shook her head and kept her focus on what was in front of her, clear ocean.
Before the bridge could totally relax, RO interrupted the nice silence that had fallen down.
"Ma'am, we've got a mayday." RO called out.
"Told you." Kate said to Buffer.
Buffer really wanted to make a face at Kate but thought better of it and kept quiet.
"Where's it coming from RO?" Kate asked looking back to RO.
"70 miles away from us." RO sighed as he realised how far away it was.
Kate sighed also. It would take a whole day to get to the mayday signal.
"Isn't there any other ships closer?"
"I don't think so."
"Nav?"
"I'll have a look Ma'am." Nav said looking over her radar.
It didn't take too long for Nav to find out. Kate didn't want to go to the mayday if another ship could get to it faster.
"There is another ship Ma'am. Must have heard it." Nav smiled in relief.
The whole crew seemed to sigh with relief when Nav said this. Bomber and Spider seemed the most relieved as it probably meant that they could play more pranks on the crew members.
"Send a message to them to see if they need any help." Kate made sure.
Nav nodded and sent the message. Everyone expected that they weren't needed but they knew if they were needed, they needed to go.

Mike was just waking up in a sick bay. He nearly hit his head on the top bunk as he got up. He heard a snigger coming from in front of him. He could already tell who it was.
"Don't Swaine." Mike said, calling out to the medic.
"Sorry sir." Swaine's voice came back trying to keep back the laughter.
Mike's eyes stung a little as they got used to the bright light. He rubbed his forehead as he got up.
"Not feeling too good sir?" Swaine asked him.
"A little bit groggy." Mike answered.
"Hopefully that medicine is coming through then."
"Maxine said it would."
Swaine nodded as he got about his work. Some of the stuff in the sick bay had fallen over during the storm in the night so Swaine spent most of his time collecting all of that up.
"The storm that bad?!" Mike said.
"I've seen worse but it was a bad one." Swaine said, picking up bottles.
"How are the rest of the crew holding up?"
"Haven't got any injuries thank God."
"Thank God for that."
Mike always worried about his crew, whether he was on the bridge or in his own quarters. It was part of the job description he used to say. He tried to get out of the bed, he just about managed but was still a bit wobbly.
"Are you sure you should be getting up sir?" Swaine asked not even looking up from his work.
"I'm fine Swaine." Mike tried to reassure him.
Swaine sighed heavily. Mike patted him on the back and then made his way out of the sick bay. Swaine watched him as he went. He knew he should keep him sick bay for a while but he was well enough now to look after himself.

"Doesn't look like they need help Ma'am." Nav finally answered.
"Good. Keep tabs on them though." Kate said smiling.
"Yes Ma'am."
Nav went back to work once she had said this. Buffer sat down with a thump next to Kate. Kate could tell something was up. Buffer never made a fuss about nothing.
"What's up with you?" Kate asked him quietly.
"Nothing." Buffer answered.
"Yes there is."
"It's nothing!"
"Then don't make a fuss then!"
Buffer looked into Kate's face. Kate gave him an icy glare which meant that she might tell him off if he didn't say anything. Buffer took a deep sigh and then turned back to his work.
"It's just having nothing to do." Buffer sighed.
"I think everyone feels like that." Kate sighed back.
"Ma'am we've got a helicopter incoming." RO suddenly said.
Kate and Buffer jumped to attention. They weren't expecting anything why a helicopter would come near them. Kate jumped down to join RO to see what they wanted.
Swaine suddenly came up the stairs somewhat out of breath. Kate nearly jumped out of her skin when he came up behind her.
"What is it Swaine?" Kate asked, trying to get her breath back.
"That helicopter." Swaine pointed.
"What about it?" Kate asked, crossing her arms.
"It's for me. I needed to get some supplies in so this was the only way to get them in." Swaine said, trying not to reveal Mike's secret.
Kate squinted her eyes. Why would Swaine need supplies all the way out here?
"Alright then. You'd better go out there and get them." Kate said, standing down the crew.
Swaine nodded trying not to anger Kate and the bridge anymore. Swaine went down to meet the helicopter as the bridge watched on. Once he was gone the bridge came to life once again.
"I wonder what those supplies are." Spider said pushing his nose in.
"Don't be so nosy Spider!" Bomber chirped.
"Well you would have asked it!" Spider talked back.
"True." Bomber said.
Bomber and Spider were the most nosiest people on the Hammersley and always wanted to know the gossip. Even though most of the crew didn't tell them anything, they sometimes made up their own gossip to spread around.
"That's enough you two." Buffer hissed to them.
Spider and Bomber went quiet as they didn't want to get told off again.
"Let them wonder Buf!" Charge spoke up for the two members of the crew.
Buffer made a face at Charge and Charge made one back. Charge was used to this from Buffer so could send it back as well. They heard the helicopter fly off so they could tell Swaine had finished with the helicopter.

Swaine made his way down to Mike's quarters with the medicine in his hand. He was a little bit more happier now the medicine had arrived. He knocked on the door. Mike came to the door this time and let Swaine in.
"Swaine what can I do for you?" Mike asked sitting down.
Swaine put the medicine in Mike's hand. Mike couldn't help but smile once he had done this.
"It finally came." Swaine said, smirking.
"Do you know how to use it?" Mike asked.
"I think so."
Mike and Swaine looked at each other and started laughing. It was good the medicine was here at last but it didn't mean they would know how to give it to Mike. Swaine would know how to do this though. Right?
