Chapter 41: Anger
On top of a cliff in the woods, Bayne, Flash, Jarvin, and Lance were looking around and noticed that the White Fang had infiltrated Haven and now had the Academy on lockdown. Lance gritted his teeth as he noticed the White Fang "Looks like your suspicions were right Bayne. What are they doing here?"
Bayne nodded as Flash looked in awe "Yeah, but now what do we do? How do we go about stopping this?" Flash asked.
Jarvin closed his eyes and sighed "Well… charging in isn't the best idea. As much as I'd like to jump down there and send them flying with my semblance. I don't know how many of them are there and if there's any more hiding somewhere in case of an attack." He explained.
"That's right. So instead of charging in, we'll use the shadows to our advantage and take them out with stealth." Bayne said.
"You'll do no such thing."
Bayne and the other's quickly turned around to see Ryan, Agent Cold, and Ryzer standing behind them. Agent Cold smirked as he held out his gun and looked at Flash "We have to stop meeting like this." He mocked.
Flash rolled his eyes with a sigh and took a stance as he looked at Cold "What's the headline today Cold?" he asked.
"Flash trapped in a big freeze." Cold quickly responded.
"Should've known you three would show up eventually," Jarvin stated as he clenched his fist. He then looked at Ryzer who was wearing a Black and Red metal helmet that covered his entire head which made Jarvin chuckle.
"Nice mask Ryzer, I wouldn't have realized it was you if it wasn't for those guns of yours," Jarvin said.
Ryzer pulled out his custom made black 9 millimeters with three small blades on the bottom. "This world has gone to shit. I can't look at it through my own eyes anymore." He stated.
Bayne shook his head as he looked at the guns "You use to fight honorably." He scolded.
"I'm the cure for a sick sad world." Ryzer held his guns up as he spoke.
Bayne glared at him "You're dangerously diluted."
Ryan took a step forward as he looked at the four huntsmen in front of him. "No, as a matter of fact, he is correct. This world has gone into utter chaos, and it's all because you believe you can go against Salem and Terror. You don't understand what Terror truly wants. Crime will never stop unless we make it stop. Ridding the world of criminals before they commit a crime is the best action." Ryan paused as he looked at Jarvin.
"You have caused me great pain… the person I trusted the most, double-crossed me! But you can right this wrong… join me Jarvin, let us teach this world a lesson and bring peace to it." Ryan held his hand out hoping that Jarvin would accept his offer.
"Peace? You want to bring peace to this world?" Jarvin asked as he called Ryan's bluff. "You joined Salem and Terror and purposely killed people! If that's your way of bringing peace to the world, then you're truly sick my friend." He retorted.
"What? It's a pity Jarvin, that you wish to go against me!" Ryan exclaimed.
Bayne knew that this was going to be an all-out battle and looked at Lance who was prepared to fight. "Lance, I want you to continue with the plan but be extra careful. We'll take care of this." Bayne ordered.
Lance raised an eyebrow as he looked at Bayne "Are you sure about this?"
Jarvin put his left hand around his right fist and smirked "Yeah, kid you'll just be in the way if you stick around. It's time for the grown-ups to play." Jarvin stated before turning his head to look at him.
"Besides, if the White Fang is here, then that means your little friend should be here too. Don't both of you have some unfinished business?" Jarvin asked.
Lance's eyes widened as he realized that Jarvin was right. Without having to think about it, Lance nodded his head and quickly took off. Ryan shook his head "Sending that boy down there will not change the situation. Haven will fall and everyone in it will die." He said.
Jarvin smirked and got into a fighting stance "We'll see about that Ryan." He quickly replied.
Meanwhile….
Jaune's voice is heard yelling out throughout the room "WEISS!" Cinder is shown grinning. Jaune quickly gets up and runs past Cinder.
Estelle was in shock as she looked at Weiss laying on the ground. "No way…" Dyna said in disbelief.
Estelle then shifted her gaze across the room to see her brother who had fallen to his knees. His face was in pure shock as his eyes were wide and his body was completely still. She could only watch as he tore himself apart at the seams.
He started to clench and hit gritted his teeth as his expression was now turning to anger. He started to breathe heavy and Estelle knew what was coming next. "UZZIEL!" She called out.
As she called his name Mercury ran over and punched Uzziel hard in the face on his left cheek. But to his surprise, Uzziel did not budge or flinch which made Mercury's eyes widened "What the hell?"
Before he could do anything else Red Aura started to form around Uzziel's body. Wings started to form from his back and his nails turned into claws, his aura had shaped itself into a dragon. Uzziel let out a powerful roar which the gust of wind that was released from his mouth sent Mercury flying into a wall.
Everyone braced themselves as the gust of wind started to come towards them. "This power. He's just like his mother and sister." Raven said to herself.
Regulus and Midori looked at Uzziel in shock as it was the first time they had seen this. "Was he always able to do that?" Midori asked.
Regulus shook his head slowly "I don't know, I've never seen him take on this form with his semblance before..." Regulus replied.
"Oh my, how scary." Paul mocked as he looked at Uzziel.
Cinder set his attention on Uzziel and smirked: "Oh, so this is what Mercury and Emerald were talking about." She said.
Uzziel noticed the smirk on her face and growled as he pressed off the ground and in seconds crashed into Cinder and slammed her into a wall before she could react. Her eye flashed open in aggravation as she was surprised that he had caught her off guard.
Emerald's eyes widened as she turned to see Uzziel now face to face with Cinder "Uzziel! Get away from her!" She exclaimed as she started to run towards her.
Mercury started to get off the floor and realized what was going on. Uzziel quickly raised his hand and tried to punch Cinder who moved her head to the side, dodging the attack completely, making him punch the wall and leaving a hole in it.
He then tried again but she moved her head to the right making him miss again. Uzziel growled and grabbed her by her neck and started to slam her head into the wall multiple times. Emerald started to get close to Cinder and Uzziel until Yang shot her in the back and made her fall to the ground.
"I've got your back Uzziel!" She called out, not worried about the fact that Uzziel was in a rage.
Yang then turned around to see Damien rushing towards and slashing at her with his sword which she quickly ducked and jumped away from him "You need to be watching your own, rookie!" He said.
Uzziel continued to slam Cinder until she gritted her teeth. Uzziel tilted his head back and began to build up a fire in his mouth. Tears fell down his eyes as his expression showed true anger, leaning his head forward he released a blast of fire.
But before it could go any further Cinder's right eye set ablaze as she held out her right hand and grabbed Uzziel by his mouth. The flames shot out between the spaces between her fingers, not phasing in the slightest. Uzziel's eyes widened as he realized the difference between his strength and hers.
Not a moment later Cinder started to slowly rise from the wall and levitated in the air while still having a grip on Uzziel. "Did you really think you would overpower me with that semblance of yours? Don't get in over your head… boy!" She exclaimed as she quickly flew forward and slammed him to a wall creating a hole behind his body.
"Did you really think you could beat me? And after all that big talk… such a disappointment." She mocked as she tightened her grip. The flames in his mouth had gone out and the red aura from his semblance disappeared.
Cinder opened her free hand to create a sword using her semblance. "Since your parents being gone hurts you so much… how about I let you join them!" She exclaimed.
As she was about to stab him, she quickly turned around and slashed at a wind blast that was coming towards her. She looked up to see Estelle running towards her and quickly flew away while letting out a chuckle.
Estelle quickly went over to her brother who was still in shock and quickly put her hands on his shoulders. "Uzziel are you alright?" She asked in worry.
She noticed that Uzziel's eyes were somewhat tranquil and he was in shock but no longer a danger to himself. Which meant one thing… her fears of him losing control were for nothing. He hadn't lost control at all, what she saw was pure anger and grievance. She saw tears rolling down his eyes and knew that what happened to Weiss hurt him deeply. She quickly wrapped her arms around his head and pulled him in for a hug.
Oscar watched Jaune approach and pick up the unconscious Weiss from his position. He then looks over to the unconscious Ruby. Angered, he smacks Leonardo with The Long Memory, causing him to fall down the stairs and into Hazel, who remains unfazed as Lionheart falls to the ground. Oscar quickly runs over to Ruby, with Nora joining him.
"Ruby, get up! Get up! We need you!" Oscar pleaded.
Hazel picks up Lionheart by his collar, lifting him off the floor. "You're lettin' that boy make a fool of you."
"That's not just a boy! It's Ozpin. He's already reincarnated!" Hazel's eyes widened as Lionheart said this.
Hazel drops Lionheart and looks over to Oscar, who is still trying to nudge Ruby to wake her up. He then notices The Long Memory being held in the young farm boy's hand.
"Ozpin?" He questions.
Suddenly, the usual calm demeanor of Hazel slowly turns infuriated. Ruby stirs for a bit.
Oscar smiles in reliefs "Ruby! You—"
"OZPIN!"
Oscar looks up.
"Oh no…" Ozpin says mentally.
"You thought you could hide from ME?!" Hazel rips his coat off and then grabs a pair of lightning Dust crystals from a couple of pouches on his legs.
"You'll pay for what you did! You'll die over and over again!" He stabs the lightning Dust into his arms, with his blood vessels turning yellow and popping out from his skin as well as having some lightning coat them. His eyes glow yellow, and he lets out an intimidating roar. Oscar slowly backs away, holding his cane up cautiously. "Do- do we fight?"
"No, run!" Ozpin responds.
Hazel leaps forward to charge into Oscar, but Qrow and Miyabi get him out of the way in time. Qrow transforms Harbinger into its scythe form while Cinder watches. Raven and Vernal walk to her sides.
"Ozpin is here?!" Cinder angrily asks.
Raven looks at her and raises an eyebrow "Is that a problem?"
"I'm not sure, but right now we got the upper hand. Let's not waste it." Cinder looks at Lionheart who is shown on his knees when Cinder's voice gets his attention.
"Leo! Open the path to the vault!" She ordered.
Lionheart gets back up and approaches the statue in the room. He takes out his pocket watch and places it in a small niche on the statue. The hands of the watch gradually spun faster and the statue lowers. Yang watches the situation in front of her. She looks to Jaune and Ren as they tend to Weiss and then looks over to Nora who is still trying to wake Ruby up. Nora looks at Yang.
"Stop them! We've got your team covered!"
Yang lingers a bit before heeding Nora's advice, but she gets kicked to the ground by Damien. He is then joined by Emerald and Mercury.
"You wanna get to them? You're going to have to get through all of us." Emerald uses her Semblance to create multiple copies of Mercury and Damien, which surround Yang. Meanwhile, Jaune uses his hands to apply pressure on Weiss' wound, while Ren holds her wrist checking her pulse.
"Ren, talk to me!"
Ren sadly shook his head "This is bad."
Jaune's eyes widen in horror. "No, no, no, no, not again! Weiss, c'mon, please!"
Meanwhile, Vernal steps onto the platform leading down to the vault.
Cinder looks at Lionheart with a stern expression "Make sure they leave Ruby alive. This won't take long."
Cinder steps onto the platform. Raven looks back a bit as she hears her daughter fighting vainly, shaking her head before she steps on the platform too. The platform then lowers down. Oscar is then shown dodging out of the way as Hazel slams his fist into the ground.
"Oscar," Ozpin called out mentally.
Oscar quickly shook his head "No!"
Oscar dodges another attack from Hazel. "Oscar!" Ozpin exclaimed louder.
"I told you, no!" Oscar gets punched back by Hazel several feet into a column.
"Please, let me take over! I can handle him!" Ozpin said.
"You told me I needed to fight for myself!" Oscar said while standing back up. "So I will.
"This is not your fight!" Ozpin quickly retorted.
"What does that mean? Why is he so upset with us?" Oscar asked.
"He didn't tell you my tale, did he, boy?" Hazel asks as he approaches Oscar menacingly "I thought you looked familiar, to think that evil was inside you when our paths first crossed. Your blood won't be on my hands, it'll be on his." Hazel holds his fist up high.
Qrow jumps in the way to block Hazel's attack, but he slams his fist into the ground, the shockwave knocking both him and Oscar back. They both get back up as Qrow engages Hazel.
"What was he talking about?" Oscar asked.
"Tell him, Ozpin! Tell him how you KILLED HER!" Hazel yelled in pure anger.
Oscar raised an eyebrow "Her?"
"Gretchen Rainart was Hazel's sister. Despite her brother's wishes, she enrolled at Beacon Academy to become a Huntress and tragically lost her life on a training mission. Hazel... holds me responsible. Please, let me fight. I know Hazel. He's wounded in a way that cannot be healed." Ozpin explained.
"You know now!" Hazel said as he blocked a flying kick from both Miyabi and Arrossire with both arms. With no hesitation, he quickly grabbed their legs and tossed them aside. "You can forgive me for what I'm about to do," Hazel said as he began approaching Oscar.
"Did she know?" Oscar asked.
Hazel stops in place at his inquiry. "Did she know the risk of being a Huntress?" Oscar added.
"She was only a child! She wasn't ready!" Hazel yelled out.
Oscar shook his head "She made a choice! A choice to put others before herself!" Holding his cane up defensively he gave Hazel a serious look "So do I."
Hazel glared at him and growled, "Then you've chosen death!" Oscar glares back, determined.
"I'm sorry," Ozpin says mentally
Oscar looked confused by Ozpin's apology "What?"
Oscar's eyes glow and his body falls to the ground as Ozpin takes over him. Ozpin looks up, and Hazel looks back at him, enraged. "OzzzzPIIIIIIIIN!"
Meanwhile, Jaune and Ren continue tending to Weiss.
"She's hardly breathing. I... I don't know what we can do…" Ren said. Both of them look down at Weiss as she struggles to breathe before suddenly stopping.
"No, it wasn't supposed to be like this! Please! We can't lose anyone else…" Jaune cried out, his voice breaking in the process.
Jaune sadly closes his eyes. Suddenly, a faint shimmering sound is heard and a white aura starts to coat over Weiss' body. Weiss suddenly gasps for breath again.
While that's going on, Hazel and Ozpin fight each other intensely. Hazel rushed towards Ozpin who prepared himself and jumped over him and started to jab Hazel in the stomach twelve times fast with his weapon. Hazel growled and was about to grab Ozpin until Miyabi slashed him twice in the back with her blade. Due to his aura and power, the attack didn't seem to faze Hazel.
He quickly swung his hand backward trying to backslap Miyabi who barely dodged it by leaning back in mid-air to her surprise. "He's fast!" She said to herself. He then swung his right fist and was about to punch her in the chest until Roy blocked it with his sword. Arrietty used Ruby's semblance and tried to speed past Hazel but to her surprise, Hazel caught her by the shirt and tossed her towards the ground.
Lionheart tries to intervene by launching another attack from Stalwart but is stopped by Qrow. The two of them fight each other, with Qrow blocking Lionheart's projectiles. Ozpin and Hazel engage against each other again. Hazel tries to smash him with his fists, but Ozpin is too fast for him. Eventually, Ozpin manages to knock Hazel down on all fours. Ozpin then twirls his cane and prepares to deliver the finishing blow, but Hazel roars and smashes his fists into the ground, creating another lightning shockwave. Meanwhile, Weiss starts to gasp and breathes normally again as the white aura coating her continues to glow.
"Huh? Wha- what's happening?" Jaune asked.
"Weiss!"
Nora helps Ruby up on her feet, who then quickly runs over to her teammate's side.
"What happened? What's going on?!" She asked.
"I think she's going to be okay! She seems to be stabilizing." Ren replied while smiling.
While that was going on Estelle hugged her brother and rubbed the top of his head as he was now sitting on the ground. "You have nothing to be ashamed of Uzziel. Anyone would react the way you did." She said as she pulled away to look at him.
"There was nothing I could do, she dominated me with ease… and to make things worse, she took Weiss from me." Uzziel said as he gritted his teeth with another tear running down his cheek.
Estelle smiled and patted his head "What do you mean? She didn't take Weiss from you… She's okay." Estelle guided his head so he could see Weiss on the floor breathing.
Uzziel's eyes widened as he noticed that Weiss was still alive. "As for her overpowering you. Don't take it as a sign of weakness, she has the powers of a maiden. Even a pro huntsman and Huntress will have trouble trying to deal with her." She explained.
She rubbed his head once more and stood up to look at Diana who was now in a heated battle with Dyna. "If we're going to take her down along with her team. Then we'll need to work together to do it." She said.
Uzziel looked at her for a moment longer and gave her a small smile. He then looked back at his sister with a serious look on his face and stood up "Let's do this." He said which earned him a smile from his sister.
"Now that's my little brother! Come on Uzzi, show big sis how cool you are." She teased as she pinched his cheek.
Uzziel removed her hand and pulled out his weapons "Knock it off Estelle, let's take them down."
With Weiss breathing again, Ruby smiles, relieved that her friend's life is not endangered anymore. Ruby then hears her sister struggling, she looks over her shoulder to see Yang getting knocked back by Mercury with Damien charging in. Yang charges forward, but Mercury's form disappears as a result of another one of Emerald's Semblance hallucinations. Emerald then creates an image of Raven, which Yang is hesitant to attack.
Yang then dodges another attack from Damien, but she is then knocked down again by Mercury who appeared behind her. Ruby then looks over to Oscar fighting Hazel, with the latter's attack becoming too wild and unpredictable for the young boy. Oscar is then hit by one of Lionheart's projectiles and holds his shoulder in pain. Hazel is about to punch at Oscar again, but Arrossire pushes Oscar out of the way and takes the blow in his back, launching him upwards. Ruby then lifts Jaune's hands to see that Weiss' wound has closed.
"Whatever you're doing, don't stop!" Ruby said.
"I won't." Jaune quickly replied.
"Good. Oscar and the others need help." Ruby said as she looked at Ren.
Ren nodded "I'm on it."
"Midori!" Ruby called out.
Midori was seen spinning in the air trying to kick Paul who quickly ducked and watched as she flew by him. His eyes shifted forward to see Regulus running towards him with his weapon in drill mode. Paul smirked at Regulus and held out his left hand for a moment. Not a second later six playing cards appeared in his hand.
"Pick a card!" He joked as he took three with his right hand from his left. He then tossed them at Midori and Regulus who both dodged simultaneously. The cards hit the ground and exploded which took Regulus and Midori by surprise.
Once Midori landed on the ground she looked over at Ruby who called out to her and then Hazel who was still on a rampage and taking on multiple people. Midori nodded and looked at her shoulder "Krisis, give them a hand." Midori said.
Krisis was sitting on her shoulder and nodded "Okay! Leave it to us, Midori." He quickly responded.
"Jaune and Weiss still need cover!" Ruby added.
Ren takes out StormFlower, while Nora approaches his side holding Magnhild.
"No one's gonna touch 'em," Nora said with a smile on her face.
" Okay, make it happen, RNJR!" Ruby stated.
Ruby stands back up, transforming Crescent Rose into its scythe form and flips over. She lands to her sister's side, knocking Emerald back. Emerald's Semblance copies of Mercury and Damien then disappear, reforming back into the originals. Damien and Mercury were about to make another move until a shot of Ice dust was fired and hit the ground in front of them.
They looked up to see Uzziel walking towards Yang and Ruby. "Thanks, you two," Yang said, standing back up. "You okay?" She asked as she looked at her sister. Ruby shook her head "No, I'm angry." Ruby replies as she proceeds forward.
