Two Things... One they were going to make Kelly a Succubus in Canon, which I think would have a great through away piece of info...

Second, I really feel for Matty. I forgot about how sad his life was, it is so apparent early on but they ignore it later... he has a miserable life... depressing honestly.

"What's that?" Elena's eyes widened when her sister pulled out a braided clump of herbs, familiar herbs and a knife. "Blue Cadmus, why? That's for truth spells, right?" Her slight education in herbs, before she screwed up with her sister, clued her in just enough to not be entirely clueless about her sister's motives.

"I am tired of people holding out info. I don't know if she's lying but I refuse to let chance be." With a wave of her hand, Samantha whispered a quick spell, all the while pricking her finger with her knife. Mixing the two, she squeezed the herb and whispered her spell. "Ueritas sanguine Cadmi anulum. "

Elena couldn't quite feel the spell work, but some part of her felt a pull as her sister's spell took effect. "What did that do?"

"Subtle truth spell, would be better if I could burn the herbs but... it's partially why I wanted to come with you. If it's grows hot she's lying, if it's cool she's not, if it warms even a little then she's withholding information. Simple and effective. " Eyes colder then Elena liked, her sister turned her ruthless glaze on her. "I am tired of people withholding info. We are getting what we need to know now."

She restrained the urge to roll her eyes, but some part of her enjoyed and even relished in her sister's proactiveness. "Fine, just don't freak if she is lying. We wouldn't know why, she might be keeping us or her safe."

"Not everyone is as noble as you are... but fine. I won't kill her on the spot."

"It's sad that's the most I can get out of you..."

"I know."

Vicki focused on breakfast, making pancakes for her little brother while he ranted at her.

"... and you can't just kick her out. She's our mom."

Frowning, she turned. "I own the house so yes I can, and I would do it again. She's nothing but trouble and would screw us over again, she's been doing it for years. I refuse to let her drag us down any more then she has. I have plans for our lives. I am going to get my LPN and become a travel nurse while I work to get my RN so I can visit the entire country. Your going to do well at Football and school, then go college and make something of yourself. Maybe become a cop with that noble streak of yours, maybe a social worker."

She enjoyed the look of disbelief on his face, it tickled her soul. "You think I could do something like that?"

"Of course I do, your amazing and not just because your the only one of us not to fall into drugs and parties. Your a special kind of nice and decent and strong and I won't let Kelly ruin that by taking advantage of your goodness. I will be the mean one for you."

There was a moment of silence. "It's hard to remember that your really trying to be the good one."

"I live to please, now shut up and get ready for breakfast. Pity Blondie's left, she's more then welcome to have some breakfast with us. Speaking of, how long has that been going on. Is she a new Flavor of the Month, or is she the one."

Her adorable brother snorted at her, stealing the plate she presented him before sitting down. " She's not a flavor, Vick, I like her... but no, probably not, but maybe. It started a few weeks ago, with all of the craziness with Elena settled down and she was dealing with her break up with Damon. We bonded and she... I don't know, she got better. She's calmer, nicer and I like her."

Heart aching, Vicki sighed and leaned towards her brother, kissing his forehead softly. "She better treat you right, or I will rip her spine out. I am not kidding, your too great to be played around with... and bring her around. Samantha's been teaching me how to cook, I'll make something nice and she and I can chat."

"Your going full mom aren't you?"

"Oh yeah, someone's got to do it... and speaking of, don't forget that Mom likes to play that game where she only comes into when she wants something. I've played it so don't let her play you."

"I know... it sucks but I know."

Alaric Saltzman tried to ignore the feeling of eyes on him as he walked next to Carol Lockwood. He wasn't entirely sure if he liked the annoying women, her leers and the stench of booze wafting around her like a veil made his eyes water and that was with his love of Whiskey. The eyes made his skin itch, he could practically feel them messing with his senses, leaving them raw and him jumpy. The wood pressing against his arm, a stake pressured enough to ram into a vampire's chest, reminding him to keep his senses sharp.

The stretch was giving him a migraine...

The sight of his mortal enemy talking to a beautiful women, sharing a laughter and a drink only added to his discomfort.

"Hey, Carol, if you don't mind... who are they? I've seen them before but I never introduced myself." It was a lame excuse to ask why but he figured she's just chalk it up to him being attracted to the beautiful woman.

Carol offered a slight pained sigh. " Jenna Sommers and Damon Salvatore."

"A Founding Family member, right?"

"Yes, the Salvatores are in fact a Founding Family. Actually Damon and his brother Stefan, who's in my son's grade, are the only Salvatores left alive that I know of. It's so sad, they have always been such a powerful influential family... Zack, the previous patriarch, their uncle actually, was killed recently."

Senses screaming at him, he turned to the women with full attention. "Killed? One of the Animal attacks?"

"Oh yes, a Mountain Lion, a big one. So many lives lost... actually another Founding Family member, Logan Fell, lost his life as well." Her slight flinch at the name of that man only added to his suspicion.

"I am sorry your town has experienced such loss... but it seems almost normal here, no disrespect intended." he backtracked at her sharp look. " I only meant he almost cyclical deaths that pop up around this town and the surrounding areas in mass every so often. I told you, my wife thought it was vampires, but I just see it as a sad tragedy all too frequent here."

Carol's suspicion didn't seen to fade much, but she offered a smile to him. "I appreciate your appreciation and respect. Too many people would to eager to glamorize the tragedy."

"I am all too familiar with tragedy, I would never glamorize it." He turned his gaze back to the vampire that killed his wife. "All too familiar..."

"Is it me, or is that guy glaring at us."

Jenna's question caught Damon by surprise, but he turned to look at the man in question, walking with Carol Lockwood and saw the glare on his face as he stared at them. " To be fair, it could be from walking with Carol Lockwood."

"Fair point, but I think I've seen him around a lot lately. Always with Carol."

"He's writing a book, I think... they mentioned him in a council meeting. His wife knew about Vampires but he thinks their just a myth...I'll have John look into him."

"Good... but first, let's talk about you turning Isobel… why'd you do it? Did you like her?"

He snorted, looking at Jenna with amusement. " I slept with her because I liked her, I turned her because she begged me. She was miserable with her life and wanted to change. I felt something, kinship maybe and appreciated her choice so I turned her. Taught her how to use her powers, how to get comfortable in a new town... all sorts of things."

"Mighty nice of you."

"I am selfless like that."

"Very... and I am counting on it." A moment of something passed between then, and he looked at her with something akin to shock as the next words left her lips. "I want you to turn me."

A yearbook presented to them, Elena and Samantha looked at the pictures both smiling at their mother and Trudie in their youth. It was painful for them both, but good pain. Samantha's face almost ached from smiling so much, looking at the images and imaging the women who gave them up. She seemed bright and beautiful and amazing, she may not love her but it was hard not to admire or respect the women she had been.

Trudie smiled at the images, a sigh on her lips. "They came to the games for football team hadn't won in years. We were the stars. Well, Izzie was. But I was a damn good backup."

The more polite Elena, smiled. "Heh. This is great. Thank you."

You're welcome. You girls haven't touched your Tea."

"Oh yeah, sorry." As one the sisters drank some of the tea, both freezing as the familiar taste of Vervain passed their lips. Elena sniffed the tea but before she could open her mouth, Samantha stepped on her toes. Elena nodded.

"What is this?"

Without looking at them, True answered. "Oh, it's just some herbal mixture."

"Vervain?" Trudie doesn't respond and the sister's shared another look.

Samantha laughed. " That's funny, our parents used to drink this tea too. It's in a lot of Italian teas, you know."

Trudie turned, offering a beautiful smile. "I didn't actually. I love the flavor and that smell, so rosey."

The Herbs in Samantha's pocket warmed. " Did you know it was said to offer mental clarity and protection for the mind? Our dad was a doctor, and he made fun of herbalism but I like how it intersects with Mythology. There is even a vampire myth about it, weird as that is." She kept a smile, getting her sister to chuckle with her.

Trudie's chuckle was weak, nervous and afraid. " No, I never heard of anything like that."

The herbs were like hot coals in her pocket, and Samantha frowned. "Is Isobel a Vampire?" The image of her mother, still alive, the fear and feeding the daughters of Isobel vervain… it was the only thing that made sense.

Trudie's eyes widened. " I think you should leave."

The herbs cooled, she was hiding something.

Elena frowned at her. " You didn't invite us in, the tea is Vervain… you know... god is our mom a vampire, too?"

"I think it's time you go."

They stood, defiant. " What do you know?"

"Please, leave?" Trudie almost begged them and after a shared look the girls nodded.

"Fine, but we can't protect you now... your on your own." Turning on heel, the girls marched out of the room, both shaking and afraid. Samantha stopped, turning to Trudie. "I am a witch you know, I could pull the information out of you by force or worse. I brought the tools to do that... I really could have protected you... I hope you can keep yourself safe. First thing I learned in this world of monsters and magic... especially if your human... never be without allies."

As they walked out of the house, making their way to Elena's car, Samanatha felt eyes on her. Turning, she saw a man standing in the middle of the road, looking at them ominously... almost without a word, she knew he was human... she could sense it.

'Please be safe, Trudie... please do not let my mother be a monster...' But she doubted it. If she was Isobel, she would compel all sorts of humans and use them to protect her secrets, starting with those that knew her in life... if amenity is what she wanted, then death would be her safest option...

She had a feeling Trudie wasn't long for that world...
