Chap 28 what are you going to say to her?

The heart monitor beeped a steady rhythm, interrupted only by the inflating and deflating of the automatic blood pressure monitor. Inuyasha studied the results and nodded his approval. Turning back to Kyo, he caught his son's attention.

"Son, you're being discharged today. Let's get you changed and ready to go," Inuyasha put the clean clothes at the foot of the bed and helped Kyo sit up.

"Dad, I don't know what I would do without her." Kyo fidgeted with the monitor lines on his chest as Inuyasha removed them and gave him his shirt.

"I don't know what I would do without her either but I know we would stand by side each other just like we did when Rin was hurt."

Offering his son some modesty Inuyasha turned as Kyo put on his undies and pants. Then Inuyasha sat at the side of his hospital bed.

Kyo looked as him. "My heart hurts thinking about it."

The puppy ears focused directly on him. "I understand."

"I think we need to concentrate on your Father's promise. Let's think about what we'll say to her. I know what I'm going to say to her. I'm going to chew her out for not telling me you were sick and couldn't fly. I would have loved to visit Cyprus on a house call." A corner of the hanyou's mouth lifted, a tiny bit of fang flashed.

Kyo scoffed. "I was worried I'd make you sick. Anyway I don't think you would have liked that place as a "house call". It's a cheap and boring hotel near the airport. My villa is a palace in comparison."

"Still, I get a say in this, don't I!"

"Yes Dad." The young man showed deference to his dad.

Silence reigned except for the hospital room noises.

Eventually Inuyasha leaned forward. "What will you say to her?"

Kyo leaned back and stared at the ceiling.

"Dad, I've been thinking about that. You know I love her. My world revolves around her. I've been the best beta I could be; reserved, responsible, moderate, likeable, sensitive, and thoughtful. I've been considerate and maybe too idealistic. I know I'm not an alpha. I've grown up surrounded by them. But in this I know who I want and what I want. I've been waiting for her forever. I'm going to tell her –"

But Kyo was interrupted as the door whooshed open and Yuki rushed in.

"KYO! Please don't die. I-"

Kyo's eyes twinkled with joy. One glance to their Dad and he spoke directly to Yuki.

"I LOVE YOU! BE MINE FOREVER!"

Yuki flew onto Kyo and smothered him in kisses.

I LOVE YOU TOO! YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES, Yuki squealed.

The noise brought several nursing staff.

Inuyasha exited the room and calmed the nurses. He sighed in relief and looked for Sesshomaru. As he walked around the corner he saw Ryuu standing quietly to Sesshomaru's side.

Inuyasha ignored him as he walked to his mate's other side and put his nose in Sesshomaru's neck.

Ryuu whined softly.

Sesshomaru pulled away from his mate.

"Inuyasha, Ryuu is the one who found and saved Yuki."

Inuyasha glanced Ryuu's direction briefly before returning his attention to his mate and pointedly ignoring his son.

"Inuyasha, you need to listen to Ryuu. Every story has at least two sides. I've been trying to tell you that. We can't afford to harbor any anger toward members in our family. Think about what just happened with Yuki and Kyo."

"Fine, but I want to have this conversation out of the range of all these strangers. We need to get our kids and we can go."

Moments later Inuyasha walked toward the hospital exit, his family in tow.

Inside Inuyasha was fighting with himself. He wanted to hold Ryuu tight to his chest. How he had loved his boy. But he was upset with him too. Suzy was devastated. Rin had been staying with her nonstop since that day. He just wanted his children to be babies again. Then he could kiss it and make everything better. Why did they have to grow up and why did life have to get complicated! The more he thought about things the more angry he got. He rubbed his mating mark.

'Hurry up. I'm getting madder with every step.'

'I'm calling the kids to meet us. Everyone is going to want to hear this. Grab the next teleporter and we'll all gather at the Castle.'
