Your hand pressed the full reset, determined to make everything right again. The button glowed brighter through your hand as the pitch dark world around you began to shake. It was taking longer then the usual resets, but you chucked it towards how profound the reset had to be. So you waited... and waited.
"DR. ALPHYS, DID YOU FIND HIM YET?!"
"I-I d-did b-but he keeps j-jumping-"
"YOU HAVE CAMERAS EVERYWHERE, HE HAS TO BE SOMEWHERE!"
"I-I'm trying! H-he doesn't stay s-still!"
"Papyrus calm down! We just have to wait until he stops and then we can get hi-"
"NO! I'M NOT GOING TO JUST WAIT AROUND! THAT'S ALL I HAVE BEEN DOING! UNDYNE, IT'S BEEN DAYS!! DAYS SINCE WE HID! DAYS SINCE HE LAST SHOWED UP!! WHAT IF... WHAT IF-"
"Come on Papyrus... I'm sure your brother is fine. We stopped the human right! So he should be-"
"NO!"
It's been far too long since he's seen his brother. You had told him that he was safe. That he was alive. So why couldn't he find him! Why did his soul felt as if a small part of him had crumbled away. Did your plan failed?! He couldn't handle being in the dark any longer. That was why he left the safety of the humid dark lands where the monsters hid until they where sure it was safe to leave. Papyrus made his way to the last place he saw either of you and his brother.
Arriving at Snowidn, standing in front of his broken front door, he felt a deadly chill grow through his bones. A smell of rot and decay filled his senses causing his bones quake as he made his way to his brother's room. The rattling of his bones grew so bad that he wrapped his arms around himself, hugging his brother's hoodie. "S-sans..." his voice was barely auditable as he stepped into the room. The smell hitting at full force as his vision tried to understand what he saw before him. "F-frisk?"
A decayed body layed on his brother's bed with his scarf and a fine sheen of dust covering it. His eyesight tried to focus but it refused to register what it was looking at. He gripped the side of his skull, forcing himself to make sense of it all. The more he tried the more he could hear his own soul tear itself apart. Soon after a sound assaulted him. A loud agonizing scream that started to hurt his skull only to then figure out that it was his own scream.
He couldn't think! He couldn't let himself to as he kept screaming in pain. "Papyrus!!!?" He wasn't sure how long he screamed or when Undyne had appeared but, she had grabbed a hold of him which broke everything. His scream turned into a panic as he tried to push himself away in Undyne's embrace as she tried to calm him down. But nothing she did or said could have helped him. For before him was your dead body and the dust that once was his brother. Both of you where gone. Tears rolled down his cheekbones at the horror.
Papyrus dugged himself deeper into Undyne's arm, desperately trying to hide from it all. Only once he heard creeks underneath all his screams did he subside. Looking back the scene, he didn't register Undyne's body stiff as she let out a swear. At the window, there where various vines that had crept through. The vines quickly wrapped themselves over your stiff bloated limbs. As it gently lifted up your body, both the scarf and dust rained onto the bed. At the sight, Papyrus tried to break through Undyne's iron grip. "FRISK! FRISK!!!" He screamed as he managed to scramble away.
Undyne had tried to keep him away but, Papyrus fought her with whatever strength he had left. He couldn't let you be taken away. Not from him! Not after everything!! But as desperate as he felt, he couldn't grab you in time. The vines pulled you away from the room... away from his home. As his upper body leaned through the window, the last he saw was your body sinking once again into the snow. You where gone. Nothing of you was left behind. Bones rattling and his limbs weak, his legs gave out as he slid down near the side of the bed. His gloved hand landing on top of the mattress, he felt small sparks of magic itching through his glove. Bringing his gloved hand towards him, he saw the small stain of dust on it. His eyelights shrunk at the sight.
Sensing movement, his sight dashed towards the blue fish women as she tried to get closer to him. How could someone who wasn't afraid of anything look so scared. Before he could think about it more, his bone jolted as she grew closer. "NO! STAY BACK!"
"Papyrus you can't stay in here... we... I'll clean up your b-"
"NO! CAN'T TOUCH HIM!! STAY BACK!" He couldn't think as panic ran through his bones. All he knew was he couldn't let anyone take his brother away... Not like how you were taken. Fear driving him, he got up from his spot and pushed Undyne away.
He pushed everyone away...
Alone at his home, many tried to console him but to no avail. He hid in his room as the monsters who have come to know him helped fix what they could of his home. After some time, some have still tried to knock at his door, but once they heard the miserable cries, they stopped. Unable to bear to hear the once joyful skeleton in tears.
He wasn't sure how long it has been, he just knew that the days dragged achingly slow. He knew people were worried about him, but he didn't care. Even when he walked through Snowdin and felt the sad stares of the townspeople. He couldn't bare being in his home for to long. He found that he could only handle being in there to sleep, which wasn't much. For fear of nightmares coming to visit him scared him too much to keep his eyesockets closed for too long. Walking through the snow, his scarf blowing in the wind, the blue jacket wrapped his body in what little comfort it provided. Arriving the small bridge in the woods, his gloved hands embraced the jar closer to him. A small glass jar that contained his brother's dust.
Each day, he made his rounds... visiting all the places his brother would frequently go to. His would visit the various sentry stations scattered throughout the Underground. He would stare at the crystals on the cave ceiling in Waterfall; recalling all the small things Sans would say he had read about the stars. Pass by the MTT resort on his way to the golden judgement room; where he would sit in the strange warm light for hours on end before returning back to Snowdin. At the end of everyday he would stand outside Grillby's bar and stare through the window... at the empty stool that other monsters avoid.
"heya paps. how ya been?"
"SANS..." Papyrus'es voice was quiet and hollow as he stared at his brother's empty sentry station. "I... DIDN'T SEE... THE HUMAN... F...FRISK..."
"fuhgeddaboudit, you'll find her next time. how ' bout i drop by muffet's little stand and get your favorite?"
"WAIT!...I... I MEAN...WHY DON'T WE GO TOGETHER?"
"thought ya hated Hotland. something 'bout the conveyor belts or something."
"NO... IT'S OKAY... I JUST... WANT TO GO WITH YOU...BROTHER."
"whatever ya say paps."
"WHY?"
"why? whatever you say goes, cause i love ya bro. nothing much to it."
"I... I LOVE YOU TOO... BROTHER..."
Hugging the jar of ashes, he made his way towards Hotland. Walking away from the large vine covered door. The Ruins where opened a long time ago and all the resedience had already left it in favor of finding other places to reside in. Deep deep through the empty corridor, at the very end... where light shown down the bed of flowers was you. Your body buried underneath the yellow flowers. The only one who knew was a single monster. A small flower that waited. Waited until the world would reset once again.
You didn't understand. Even though the other resets might have taken awhile, this one was by far the longest one. Was your soul not strong enough? Did the world just didn't want to? Even if it was true you didn't give up. As your determination burn inside you, you continued to wait.
You waited
And waited...
And waited...
You waited until, your body grew stiff and cold. You waited until your hand grew numb. You waited until your vision grew blurry as you stared at the button underneath your hand. You waited... and continued to wait.
Just then small lights glimmer around you. Small white 1's and 0's glitched and glowed around you until it filled the dark room. Once the whole world blasted into a bright light, your body started to fall down. The reset button disappeared while you found yourself falling through the clear blue sky. The wind crashing loudly in your ear at your quick descend, you stared at the mountain as it came closer and closer. Closing your eyes, you braced yourself before your body hit the ground. The shock of your body hitting the ground spread through your whole body, knocking the wind out of your lungs.
Finding it odd that the fall didn't kill you or left your body incredibly broken, you opened your eyes. Blinking away the blurring sun, you tried to move your body. Your body which had reverted back to it's child form, ached as you tried to move it. Soul burning, you gritted your teeth as you turned around onto your stomach and crawled towards the hole that lead to the deepest depth of Mt Ebott. Crawling your body through the stones and branches as they scrapped through your clothes and soft flesh, your hand soon met with the gap. Even with your battered body you couldn't help but feel your soul leap with unbridled joy.
You were going to go back! You were finally going to fix everything! Save everyone! To be able to reach that ending... The sunset... Your friends... everyone's face smiling happily...
You were so happy, that you found yourself laughing. Toriel, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, Asgore, Flowey... Sans and Papyrus, they are all waiting to be freed. Everyone is. Except...
There was someone else laughing as well.
A soft giggle...
Your hand glitched over the gap as vines quickly covered your body.
You tried to move but you were too weak to fight them off. You tried your best to crawl towards the opening, but only managed to get your head over the enterance. Your heart thumped harder in your chest and before you knew it the giggling grew louder. Looking up, your eyes widen at the sight. Before the impact hit you, you closed your eyes and looked away. A soft thump hit the back of your head, causing whatever hit you to laugh more before falling down into the Underground. Massaging the back of your head, you looked at the small body as vines wrapped it and pulled it deeper down.
Just like that, your soul... Your determination fell after the small child.
Your body trapped on the side of the mountain, you found your spirit crashing down...
Something wrong must have happened during the reset. It was the only thing you could think of. The small sound of rustling flowers followed by a small giggle was all you could hear. Without a body, you couldn't see your surroundings. But you could feel it. Feel that you were back in the Underground. You still felt your determination but the strong power it once held now surrounded another soul. A soul you felt yourself drawn to.
"Oops, I dont think I'm supposed to have touched that." Giggled the small voice. That little voice belonging to the one who will change your whole adventure and start a new one.
Frisk's Determination, your determination... will continue right after the Brokentale saga. Don't give up, stay determined.
