Summary: Ruby has a problem. Weiss keeps stealing her clothes!
For as long as Ruby could remember, Weiss had strong preferences in her own fashion sense. A majority of her clothes were elegant and stylish with color schemes that would make a certain fashionista jealous. For the warmer seasons, Weiss would often choose dresses or skirts, sometimes she would even pair denim with a blouse if she was feeling lazy. During the colder seasons, long belted coats were always her top choice. As for sleepwear, she would choose her nightgowns any day of the week.
But lately, Weiss' choice of clothing started to stray from her usual style, and suspiciously around the same time, a lot of Ruby's clothes started disappearing.
"Weiss?" Ruby hollered, while she scrambled around the house late in the evening. "Have you seen my hoodie?"
She checked underneath the living room couch to see if Zwei had dragged it into the abyss of no return. No shirts or jackets to be found, but she did find a lot of squeak toys that had been lost from last year.
"No," Weiss shouted, from their bedroom. "Check the hamper."
"I already did!" Ruby went and overturned the couch cushions. If the sofa could swallow loose change like quicksand, then she couldn't exempt jackets from the list of possibilities. "I did the laundry, but I don't see any of my jackets anywhere!"
"Weiss!" Ruby whined, when all she found was the television remote and a random assortment of trash hiding between and underneath the cushions. "Help me find my hoodie! Weiss? Weiss!"
"Honey, I'm preoccupied at the moment."
"Doing what?" Ruby swung by their bedroom out of curiosity and found Weiss sitting in their bed absorbed in a book. "Preoccupied?" Ruby mocked, sarcastically. "You're choosing a book over me? That's so — Wait… Isn't that my hoodie you're wearing?"
Weiss set aside her book and tugged at the hooded sweatshirt to get a better look. "Oh, was this the hoodie you were looking for?"
"Weiss!"
"I thought this was mine," Weiss shrugged.
"Really?" Hands on her hips, Ruby deadpanned at Weiss who was wearing a hoodie that was twice her size. The sleeves extended past her fingers while the hem ended mid-thigh like a dress. "You never buy oversized clothes. That's kinda my thing. Can I have my hoodie back?"
"Why?" Weiss asked defensively, looking offended when Ruby wanted it back.
"Because it's cold, and for some reason, I don't have any more jackets and hoodies."
"Do I really have to give up your hoodie though?" Weiss protested.
The pout that followed almost made Ruby surrender her whole wardrobe to her girlfriend. Almost. The sole reminder that she barely had enough clothes to survive a couple of days was the only thing that willed her not to.
"Yes." Ruby steeled herself against Weiss' version of puppy eyes. She held out her hand and beckoned for it back. "Hoodie, please."
Weiss made the poutiest face that Ruby had ever seen, and Ruby was seconds away from caving in, until Weiss eventually resigned with a huff. She reluctantly tugged the hoodie off over her head, bundled it into a poorly shaped ball, and flung it back to its rightful owner. With one layer less to keep her warm, she pulled up blankets to her chest and sat up against the headboard.
Just as she picked up her book, she saw Ruby raising her eyebrows at her.
"Is something wrong?" Weiss asked, as she set her book down again.
"Nothing is wrong…" Ruby tilted her head. "But is that my shirt you're wearing…?"
Weiss glanced down but looked away with a shy blush. The very large shirt that she had on sat loose on her body. It drooped down her shoulder while the sleeves reached her elbows.
"Maybe…?" Weiss replied innocently.
"Are you wearing my pants too?" Ruby had to ask because she was curious.
Weiss lifted the blanket to check. The not-so-innocent deep blush on her face said it all. "Maybe…"
"Weiss…" Ruby kept raising her eyebrow higher until she decided to confront her girlfriend. "Have you been stealing all my clothes?"
"Preposterous," Weiss outright denied.
"Really?" Ruby was not at all convinced.
"You're not telling me to take this shirt off too, are you?"
As much as Ruby wanted to say yes, for a different reason, she slipped her hoodie on and crawled into bed with a smile instead. She kissed Weiss on the cheek before settling in next to her. "No. You look great in my shirt."
"Thank you —"
"—So, where's the rest of my clothes?" Ruby started interrogating, as she returned back to the million dollar question.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Weiss humphed.
"Uh huh…" Ruby said skeptically, and began to count. "Most of my sweatpants are gone. A lot of my shorts too. Some of my socks have disappeared. All of my jackets are nowhere to be seen. Hm, what else…" Ruby tapped on her chin and pretended to think. "Ah, yes, I haven't seen more than half of my shirts around and my favorite red cloak is missing. They all mysteriously vanished within the past couple of weeks."
"Maybe it's Zwei," Weiss shrugged. "If he knows how to use a can opener, then surely he is intelligent enough to ransack your vulnerable wardrobe."
"That is possible…" Ruby said thoughtfully. "But Zwei went to Yang's place over a month ago now."
"Oh." Weiss went quiet after getting cornered.
"So…" Ruby wrapped her arms around Weiss' waist so she couldn't escape. "I'll ask again. Where did you hide all my clothes? And if you don't tell me, well, let's just say sloppy wet kisses will be one of your punishments."
Weiss smirked at the threat. "That doesn't sound too bad, actually."
"Until I start sucking your face like a glorified vacuum cleaner."
Weiss let out a sound of disgust as she tried to escape. Though, the arms around her waist didn't let her go very far.
"Don't you dare," she warned Ruby.
"I dare," she teased, "unless you tell me where all my clothes are."
"You're insufferable."
"You're hoarding all my clothes somewhere!"
"I don't see a problem with that."
"I can't parade around in our house in the same outfit forever."
"Nude is acceptable," Weiss purred.
"Nude is not fine," she huffed. Weiss clicked her tongue when her seductiveness was ineffective. "Come on, tell me."
"I'll think about it."
"Glorified vacuum cleaner," Ruby reminded her.
"Ugh." Weiss shuddered, when Ruby started to shamefully imitate the sound of one. "Fine, I'm only telling you because I love you. Not because you're a skin sucking leech."
She gestured down with her eyes, but Ruby didn't catch the hint. Even after giving the same clue the second time, she still received a puzzled look from her girlfriend.
"Underneath the bed, you dolt," Weiss exasperated.
"Wha—?" Ruby flung herself over to the edge of the mattress to see what buried treasures hid below their bed. "Whoahohoho! You really hid all my clothes underneath the bed." She then turned back to Weiss in bewilderment. "Why...?"
Blushing, Weiss meekly shrugged. "I like wearing your clothes..."
Ruby raised her eyebrow again.
"And, it feels like I'm getting hugged by you every second of the day," Weiss finally confessed.
"Is that it…?"
"Yes…?"
"Aawww!" Ruby jumped up and glomped Weiss in a blink of an eye, without her semblance. "That's the cutest thing I've ever heard! Babe, you're so adorable!"
"Ruby." Weiss struggled to say after her girlfriend literally smushed her face with a flying embrace.
"You know, you are more than welcome to wear my clothes." Ruby loosened her hug and smiled. "I really like them on you because you look better in them than they are on me. But, I kinda do need them to return to the hamper instead of collecting dust underneath the bed."
"They do get dusty after a while," Weiss mumbled.
"Promise you'll put them in the hamper?"
"Okay, promise." Weiss even held a pinky out, in which Ruby gladly took, to swear on it. "Are you sure you're okay with me borrowing your clothes everyday?"
"Absolutely, one hundred percent, certain." Ruby vigorously nodded, more than delighted to share everything with the woman she loves.
Smiling, Weiss left a quick kiss on Ruby's lips before gesturing to her to scoot back. Confused, Ruby obliged. She let Weiss carefully adjust her arms and watched as her hoodie that she had momentarily been wearing for a short while was stripped off her in one swoop. Weiss even had the audacity to wear the hoodie again in front of her before slinking back into bed.
"Goodnight, Ruby."
With her jaw dropped, Ruby could barely process what had just happened. One minute she had demanded for the return of her hoodie. The next minute, she got her hoodie back only for it to be swiped from her… Again!
"Y-You thief!" Ruby exclaimed, shivering when the cold embraced her rather than the loving arms of her girlfriend. "Weiss? Nooo, don't do this to me. Can you cuddle me at least? Weiss? Weiss. Come on, please. Weiss!"
Weiss shut her eyes and played Ruby's whines and complaints like background music. Until the voice gave up and arms drifted around her waist, she buried into the neckline of the hoodie in content.
She felt like she was being wrapped in two — three if you were to include the shirt, or four if you were to count the pants too — thick layers of hugs. She squirmed closer to Ruby until there were no longer any gaps separating them. When those arms tightened in response, Weiss slowly drifted to sleep. The strong fragrance of roses surrounding her had left her nothing but thoughts and sweet dreams of her girlfriend.
