"I'm not upset over the fact that you tried to listen in on my conversation but that you did it badly! Now tell me how much you have overheard!"
Naruto folded her arms against her chest as her blue eyes locked onto the three shinobi kneeling down on the ground. Her vein throbbed as three sets of guilty eyes locked onto her. None of the three shinobi looked her in the eyes. Was it from the embarrassment that she caught them so easily? Or was it from the guilt that they have been caught? She did not know.
She flickered her eyes to Haku and shook her head when the boy pulled out his kunai. As much as she desired to scar them, she could imagine the scolding Jiraiya would give them for reacting to something like this. You don't torture someone because they overheard you. That was what she could picture the middle-aged man telling her when he found out what happened.
"I don't know about Shikamaru and Choji but I only began to listen in when I heard an explosion from Haku's room!" Ino declared. The girl looked up from her kneeling position, light blue eyes locked onto her. Not once did the girl blinked. It hinted that the kunoichi was telling her the truth. The use of contractions told her that Ino was telling her the truth.
I can't sense she is lying to me. Her lips thinned into a very thin line and Naruto darted her eyes to her two childhood skipping buddies. Both males did not look at her, instead focusing their attention on the carpet. If they wanted her forgiveness then this action was not helping her at all. If she even mused of trusting them again then this made her reconsider the whole thing.
"You have been acting strange for the last two days and we knew you wouldn't tell us anything," Shikamaru finally explained. Choji and him looked up from his knees and locked eyes with her. Naruto raised an eyebrow and darted her eyes to the older version of Lambo. The green-eyed boy blinked as if surprised by their actions. "It was a terrible idea to listen through the door but you would have caught us through the window."
Blue eyes fixated onto the two boys and Naruto took a deep breath. You have been acting strange. It sounded like they were concern for her and maybe they were concern. It did not escape her notice how the males kept glancing at her during their lessons or how their eyes kept looking at her with concern. I haven't been making it easy for them. She grimaced and took a seat on the table.
Crossing her legs together, the whiskered girl looked up at the ceiling. The ceiling fan stayed still, allowing her to focus on it as her mind gathered all of her thoughts together. Had she been unreasonable in her treatment to Choji and Shikamaru in the past few months? It would be too easy for her to let them off but the idea made her stomach churn.
If she let them off then she would be seen as being weak and she was not weak.
"When did you start listening in on my conversation with Haku?" Naruto asked quietly. She kept her tone as cold and distant as she could possibly can and fixated her eyes on Haku and Older Lambo. I don't understand why Tsuna calls him Adult Lambo when he is only a teenager. She took a deep breath before focusing her eyes on the two guilty males before her.
Both males looked at each other as if they were debating about how much they were willing to tell her. Naruto quirked a single eyebrow at them. If they decided to withhold the amount of information that they overheard then it was fine with her. It just meant she could permanently severe the ties between them.
"We listened from the part about the Varia," Choji admitted. His black eyes looked apologetic and his tone was as soft as butter, earning a frown from the blonde. The brown-haired boy took a deep breath and concern leaked through his black eyes. "Shikamaru and me understand that Sawada-san are going to be facing some tough opponents for civilians."
Hibari and Lambo are also in trouble too. Naruto swallowed down the words and kept her expression as blank as a piece of paper before nodding her head. Her eyes flickered to Older Lambo and the green-eyed teen did not look all that terrified at the idea of facing some opponents. Of course he was not terrified. He was from the…future!
He already had an idea of what would happen in the future. But how does the future work? Is the future determined? Or is there something else that we need to factor in? Naruto rubbed her chin and flickered her eyes to the clock. There was only three minutes left before Adult Lambo returned back to his time period.
Not enough time to question him.
"I don't understand what you are talking about but what the hell is the Varia?" Ino demanded and Naruto swirled her head to the 15-year-old girl. Her light blue eyes glowed with confusion and a desire to know everything while Shikamaru and Choji looked at her with uncertain eyes. It was like they were waiting for her to make a decision of what to do.
Naruto hummed and closed her eyes. She could always tell Ino that it was none of her business but the girl was not well-known for minding her own business. There was also the added fact that it would be unfair if her classmate knew nothing of what her teammates knew. But it did not mean she should simply spill everything that she knew to the girl.
It was rather unfair that she had to spill everything when there was nothing for her to gain from it.
But I guess I can use their jutsu as a way to gather information of the Varia without putting anyone in harms way. Naruto stroke her chin and flickered her eyes to Haku. The former shinobi was strong with his ice Kekkei Genkei and she knew he had no problems with torturing people for information. But that would cause problems in the future for Tsuna.
They needed to use jutsu that could never be traced back to them. If I remember what Jiraiya told me, Team 10 is the information gathering team. Her lips twitched into a wide smile and all three members of Team 10 glanced at each other. Their bodies shivered and the smile on her lips widened even more as Adult Lambo eyed the three chunins with looks of pity.
"Well I can answer all of your questions but I need something in return," Naruto purred. Her eyes glinted with amusement when both Shikamaru and Choji looked at each other with wide eyes. The two of them knew that her request was not going to be easy for them. Besides, I think that village will benefit from it in someway since I wouldn't have known about the illusions if it wasn't for the Mafia. She grimaced and shook her head.
It was rather unfortunate she had to provide some information to that village but the benefits outweighed the disadvantage. Her pride had to be shoved into a treasure chest since she needed the information to piece together what Xanxus was up to. We need to be a step ahead of him especially now that Hibari, my own subordinate's brother and my charge are involved. She exhaled.
"What do you want, Naruto?" Shikamaru asked, taking a deep breath. "If you want us to betray Konoha then you know we can't do that."
I'm not stupid when it comes to the oath and believe it or not…I don't want the three of you to die. She schooled her expression into a blank look and darted her eyes to Adult Lambo and Haku. The brown-haired boy nodded, not looking surprised by their response, while Adult Lambo looked slightly surprised. She shook her head and eyed the three teens.
While she hated Konoha and for all it stood for, Naruto would like to believe she was a logical person. If she asked the three of them to betray the village then ANBU would be after them. Unlike her, those three were actual shinobi. Not just any shinobi but heirs of three clans in Konoha. No, she would not be foolish. I will figure out how to make the scenario work for the both of us later. She exhaled and relaxed her shoulders.
"I need you to do some work for me since you three have a jutsu that can help me figure out the issue with the Varia," Naruto answered. Shikamaru and Choji glanced at each other, their eyes widening at her response while Ino blinked. I know I'm surprised that I'm being civil when I want to rip the three of you for listening in. She exhaled. "Do this for me and I will consider forgiving the three of you for everything."
She stressed the words out to the three of them, making sure that both Shikamaru and Choji understood that she was not going to forgive them for doing her request. I will consider it and if you do an excellent job then I will let you guys back in. If it meant protecting the people that she cared about then she would have to swallow down her pride.
"I'm not working for you!" Ino declared.
Adult Lambo snorted and everyone swirled their heads at him. In the past few minutes that they have been discussing, Adult Lambo had been quiet. The teen from the future only stared at them with amused eyes, only listening in without making any comment. His green eye flickered between the three teens like they were funny.
"It isn't bad to work for younger Naruto-neechan," Adult Lambo commented. "If she is anything like her older self then she pays generously for a job well done."
Naruto raised a single eyebrow at him.
"I thought you are under Sawada's charge so how are you working for me?"
Adult Lambo sighed.
"I don't work for you in the way that you are thinking of."
In that moment, an explosion went off and purple smoke enveloped the boy. Naruto quirked a single eyebrow and sighed when the smoke revealed the sleeping toddler for everyone to see. I will ask him what he means tomorrow. She nodded her head and locked eyes on the three kneeling teens before her.
"If we do a job well done, will you forgive us?" Shikamaru asked.
She quirked her lips into a tiny smile.
"I will choose to consider giving all three of you forgiveness but you need to realize something…if I choose to forgive the three of you, it doesn't mean I will forget your actions."
Because only a naïve person would forgive and forget for what they did to her and Naruto would always hold it over their heads.
(Next day)
Lambo is getting better with his punches and dodging my clones kunai.
Naruto leaned against the tree and observed Lambo as he tried to hurl a punch at her clone while trying to dodge her kunais. The knowledge of the Varia made her decide to put her own training with Jiraiya at hold, which was something that her Godfather was not at all pleased about. But compared to the looming threat of the Akatsuki, who probably don't know she was there, and Lambo's problem…well it had been no brainer for her.
She exhaled and raised a single eyebrow when her clone sent Lambo flying to the trees. That is going to hurt. She forced herself not to wince when the boy slammed against the tree. It was probably harsh but she had to be harsh with Lambo, especially when no one could teach him about lightning. No one in Team 10 has an affinity with lightning. She slumped her shoulders and looked up at the ceiling.
From what Shikamaru told her, only Sasuke had some form of affinity with lightning.
"You are training a five-year-old instead of only protecting him like I asked," a male voice commented. Naruto did not tear her eyes away from the toddler, who bounced back up and charged right back to her clone. If Iemitsu wanted her to feel guilty then he was barking at the wrong tree. "Also is that a clone?"
The curiosity in Iemitsu's tone almost made her look away from Lambo and focused onto him. Why should she look at him? She knew the man wanted to know how she was capable of making a clone. Unfortunately for him, nothing about our agreement talks about me spilling my capabilities. She rubbed the back of her neck and exhaled.
But she did have to explain herself for her treatment of Lambo and the knowledge made her scowl. Why must she have to explain herself? She was doing what she did was right for the kid. Tsuna, Gokudera and even Yamamoto would protest with her actions but Naruto knew that this was better for the little boy in the long run.
"Just because Lambo is only 5, doesn't mean he is not fit for training," Naruto commented. She tore her eyes away from Iemitsu and the blond-haired male looked down at her with raised eyebrows. Don't judge me! I should be judging your weird outfit. The blonde eyed the orange construction work jumpsuit and grimaced. "There are kids as young as him who have been out in the field."
The man looked at her with a calm expression, not looking one bit upset with her words. Naruto leaned further against the tree and exhaled as her blue eyes watched Lambo squeaking when the kunai brushed against his cheeks. Was it too forward for her to make a comment? But it was not like she was lying to him or making an excuse to him.
She thinned her lips and looked up at the clear blue sky. The shinobi world was very cruel when she thought about it. Children were made orphans at such a young age while some children were put into the fields at very young ages. I think the Hokage told me that Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru graduated when they were six. Naruto frowned and rubbed the back of her neck.
Maybe graduating at a young age and putting them in the field was why Jiraiya was so messed up.
"How are you able to make solid clone?" Iemitsu asked. His brown eyes locked onto the clone, before looking back at her and the blonde thinned her lips. Should she explain to him? But if Reborn did not tell him then there was no reason for her to explain it to him. She might also get into trouble with Jiraiya and he might just stop her training.
She was not going to let that happen.
"Where is the fun if I tell you?" Naruto retorted, rubbing the back of her neck. Her eyes focused onto him, waiting for the male to push her for answers, but the only sound echoing throughout the forest was Lambo's laughter as he tried to attack her clones. It was strange that the boy was starting to learn to enjoy his training.
A few months ago, the little boy cried over the harsh ways that she trained him. Haru scolded for her for her actions towards the toddler while Haku defended her for her actions. I'm glad that I'm drilling my love for training into him. She placed her feet against the tree and flickered her eyes to the older male, waiting for the adult to leave but he did not budge at all.
"You had someone question my apprentice over the Varia," Iemitsu observed. His brown eyes locked onto her as if expecting her to deny over her actions but she offered him a shrug. Did he expect her to deny it? If he figured it out then there was no point of her to deny it. Besides, Reborn probably put a photo of Haku in his report to the adult. "Very smart of him to use Basil's loyalty to me against us."
Well Haku is very smart, analytical and observant. She would not spill that to him and so she chose to give him a smile. If he wanted her to apologize for the actions of her own subordinate then he had another thing coming. I didn't do anything wrong. Naruto hummed and slipped her hands into her pockets as her eyes locked onto Lambo.
The toddler must be getting frustrated with how he couldn't hit her clone or he wouldn't throw his grenades so carelessly. Maybe we need to have a word of what to do when frustrated. Naruto rubbed her chin and shook her head as brown eyes continued to look at her. She could see the adult desired an explanation and the blonde sighed.
"I had to do it since you didn't tell me everything," Naruto explained. She combed her hand through her hair and exhaled. "It is not personal but I knew you wouldn't tell me so your apprentice was the next best person. Besides your apprentice only began to talk when Haku pointed out that your own son will be furious."
It doesn't make much sense when I vocalize these words outloud. She grimaced and looked at Iemitsu, waiting for the leader of CEDEF to point out her feeble excuse. He raised a single eyebrow at her and knitted it together as if he was considering her words. The man did not look convinced at all by her words and the blonde waited for the male to call her out.
"He won't be angry with me…I'm his Dad."
You might be a good boss but you are terrible father for saying these words. Naruto rolled her eyes and folded her arms against her chest as her eyes locked onto the smiling man. Should she point this fact to him? Or should she keep quiet? The blonde thinned her lips and exhaled. What did she gain by giving a grown man some obvious advise? The girl tilted her head down.
She didn't even give a shit about Tsuna's relationship with his father. It had nothing to do with her. Tsuna was only her client and well he did save her ass in Kokuyo Land. Then again she repaid that debt to him by knocking out his opponents while he focused on Mukuro. Naruto rubbed the back of her neck and looked at Iemitsu.
"You are his father but you can't be considered a Dad," Naruto pointed out. She kept her tone cold and impassive as brown eyes looked at her."A father is someone who donates a sperm while a Dad is someone who raises you. You didn't raise him so yes he will be furious with you if you lie to him. You can't just waltz in and think that he understands you because you don't communicate with him."
That sounded more bitter than I intended. She grimaced and looked away from the man. Was she saying this much because of the fact that Jiraiya believed she understood her parents actions? Or was she furious over the way someone would just think that waltzing in and being accepted was that easy? Maybe.
She exhaled and looked at the male. When she considered her wording then it would be fair for her to consider Kushina and Minato as only mother and father. They could never be Mum and Dad to her. They never raised her and worried over her in the years that she grew up. It was probably cruel of her to think about it but it was fair in her eyes.
"Did my son tell you that he is angry with me?"
Dear God, am I now acting like a mediator between father and son? I need to be paid for this. The blonde looked to Lambo and then back to Iemitsu. Well it would be a good idea for her to act like a mediator especially if she could milk some money from it. Was it greedy for her to look at it from her own eyes? Probably.
But she never claimed to be a good person and being greedy would benefit the two males in their own ways.
"He was definitely not happy when he learnt that his father was alive and not dead like his mother initially claimed," Naruto said dryly. Those brown eyes looked almost taken back by her comment and she sighed. Was he serious? Anyone would be furious. He should be glad that Tsuna did not punch him because she would punch him. "That should tell you something because in your son's eyes…you abandoned him."
Those brown eyes turned thoughtful and Naruto thinned her lips. Must she point the obvious to him? Anyone would have jumped to that conclusion when they knew Tsuna thought his father died, only for him to be alive. Although it makes no sense when you consider the fact he could afford my high prices and everything. She sighed and rubbed the back of her neck.
Sometimes Tsuna could be observant and sometimes he could be an idiot.
"I never thought about it in that way."
He might be a good boss but he is definitely a terrible father if he never thought about putting himself in his son's shoes. Naruto took a deep breath and folded her arms against her chest. It was understandable for Tsuna to be upset when she considered it. Both Father and son had no idea of talking to each other.
The whiskered girl sighed.
I really don't understand families and how they communicated with each other.
~X~
"Is Hibari in?"
Naruto cradled the exhausted Lambo against her chest as her eyes locked with one of Hibari's subordinates. Was it wrong for her to bring a toddler with her? Most likely. But there was a reason for her to bring him with her, not including the fact that she needed to protect him. If she wanted him to talk with her without fighting her then a kid was a good guard against him.
The members of the Disciplinary Committee blinked and fixated their eyes on the exhausted little child sleeping against her chest. Was it weird for her to bring a child with her? It looked like it. She shook her head and cleared her throat. They offered her an embarrassed smile before glancing at each other as if they were concerned about something.
"Well you can't exactly see Hibari-san since he has been fighting some foreign man for the last two days," one of the members informed her. I guess he is training. Naruto sighed and looked down at the toddler before looking back at them. One member flushed red while the other member offered her a smile. "That foreign man kidnapped the President and the Second-in-Command."
You do know Hibari can't be kidnap but he can be lured right? The blonde rubbed the back of her neck and shifted the snoring child into one hand before looking at the two members. If she had to guess from the information provided by Hibari's subordinates, her ally was currently being trained by someone that Reborn knew. She thinned her lips and exhaled as her hand combed through Lambo's hair.
Was she upset that he was not here? Not really. Was she furious over the fact that he could not just send her a message? Most likely. It was irrational when she thought about it. She knew Hibari was going to fight some tough opponents for himself but would it kill him to at least give her some form of message? Naruto sighed.
It was Hibari and there were no way that she should expect him to at least give her a heads-up.
"I guess I will see him after 10 days," Naruto said, shaking her head. The members of the Disciplinary Committee frowned and looked at each other as if they were upset about something. I guess I have no right to be a little bit upset since I knew he was going to be facing strong opponents. She shook her head and looked down at Lambo.
The two males glanced at each other before looking back at her. Their eyes widened as if they realized something and Naruto raised her eyebrow at them. Why were they looking at her with guilty eyes? They did nothing wrong. She was the idiot for thinking that Hibari would give her a message that he couldn't contact her.
"Kusakabe-san told us that we should give you his note but we didn't think it was a big deal," One member cried, bowing down. Naruto blinked and frowned at them. Why would Kusakabe tell them? She knitted her eyebrows and looked down at the sleeping toddler. Did he know that she would be upset with his boss for his behavior? That sounded like Kusakabe.
Her lips curled into a smile and the blonde rubbed the back of her neck. Maybe she should talk to Hibari about communicating when he had to leave. After seeing Iemitsu, I know what kind of future that I don't want to have. She grimaced and shook her head. Communication was important and they needed to learn how to communicate properly.
Shaking her head, Naruto watched as the male rushed into the office. We can't have Kusakabe mediate between us and especially without paying him for his troubles. The blonde exhaled and sniffed Lambo's hair, trying to calm down her raging heart. The teen did not deserve to be the one to try and fix Hibari's mistakes. Besides, I should expect this from Hibari. She curled her lips into a small smile.
"Here is the note!"
Naruto hummed and nodded as her hand snatched the envelope from him. Tearing the envelope open, she opened up the folded note and looked at the two males. It was a curiosity of what Kusakabe had to say to her. Maybe it was to explain the situation but the male did not know that she knew about the whole Mafia thing.
Hibari-san has no way of making contact with you but he want me to tell you that he will send a message as soon as he bites Dino-san to death. He also wants me to tell you that he is going to miss you.
That was what the note told her and Naruto felt her lips twitched. The first part sounded like Hibari if you asked her because she knew the boy would be able to think properly when he fought someone. He can never focus when he has a prey he wants to bite. She shook her head and looked at the latter part of the sentence.
If the first part came from Hibari's mouth then the last part of the sentence was never going to come out of his mouth. He isn't the type to vocalize his feelings to me and he would show me his feelings. A sigh escaped from her lips and a small smile played on her lips as she slipped the note into her pocket.
Honestly Kusakabe really did not know Hibari if he thought his boss would tell her that he would miss her.
"Lambo, I need you to use the 10-year Bazooka."
Lambo pressed his feet against the ground and jerked his head at her. Those green eyes widened as if surprised by her words and Naruto looked down at the toddler. Why was he surprised? It was not like she was blind to his actions. He even threw the bazooka at her at one time and sent her to a future where Hibari and her were together.
"Lambo-sama has no idea of what Naruto-neechan is talking about," Lambo declared. His tone was high-pitched and the whistling spoke volumes of his lies to her. The blonde pinched her nose and looked up at the sky. Not only did she have to train him when it came to his martial arts but also to teach him the art of lying.
She sighed and raised a single eyebrow at him. "Lambo, I don't like liars."
The black-haired toddler pouted and slumped his shoulders. His green eyes looked at her like he was trying to figure out how to convince her not to use the bazooka. Nothing he could say to her would convince her not to do it. This was important for them. Well actually it was important for her since Tsuna and Hibari were involved with the whole thing.
Green eyes gleamed with amusement and the toddler hummed as if he realized something. Naruto raised a single eyebrow. What did this cute little toddler realize? Did he realize she was not going to rest like Tsuna? She quirked her lips into a smile. It would be interesting for her to see what was going through his mind.
"Lambo-sama will use it if Naruto-neechan buys Lambo-sama some takoyaki!"
Gleeful words echoed throughout the park as green eyes gleamed with pride. So he wants to use my desire for information for his own selfish gain. Her lips twitched into a smile. Well it seemed like while she did a terrible job of teaching him on how to lie, she did a wonderful job when it came to teaching him about negotiation.
She smiled even wider. But I will keep the ball to my park so he doesn't try to use the same trick with Sawada. The blue-eyed girl swung back and looked to the floating clouds. If he had been learning from her then he must expect that she would simply comply. But there was a difference between them. Lambo would never stop demanding for more food.
"I will give you Takoyaki after you use the 10-year bazooka or else the deal is off."
The toddler pouted and widened his green eyes at her but the blonde shook her head. It might work on Nana, Tsuna or anyone else but it definitely would not work on her and the frown on his face told her that he knew it. Lambo sighed and bobbed his head before digging his hand into his hair. The purple bazooka revealed itself and Lambo placed it on himself.
Boom!
Naruto kept her expression blank as pink smoke revealed the 15-year-old Lambo. Her eyes widened at the scratches and bruises decorating his cheeks alongside the burnt shirt. I think I have put Lambo in a dangerous situation. Guilt crept up into her stomach as a single irritated green eye looked at her. Adult Lambo blinked and relaxed his shoulders.
"Young Naruto-neechan," Adult Lambo greeted. His green eye locked onto her leather jacket while her own eyes locked onto the fact that his shirt was half-burnt. I see that my training has done him some good. There were hints of a six-pack and the blonde understood how Lambo became very popular with the girls. "I was in the middle of training."
I can tell. The words were on the tip of her tongue and the blonde rubbed the back of her neck as her blue eyes flickered back to the amused green eye of Adult Lambo. Why did he find it funny? He was half-naked in the park, so it made sense for her to gawk. It was not like she was even staring at it with attraction but at the various scratches decorating his chest.
"I asked your younger self to switch with you because I need to know about the Varia."
Adult Lambo blinked and let out a small sigh. The lack of emotion in his green eye did not tell her anything. Did he know what she was talking about? He had to know. He came from the future and that must mean he knew what was going to happen. He lived through all of this and so he could probably tell her whether there was any point of having Team 10 gathered information on Xanxus' plans.
"What do you want to know, young Naruto-neechan?" He asked. His green eye locked onto her like he was telling her that he would tell her everything that he knew. I guess since I'm protecting him until he gets older, we will be so close that he tells me everything. She found that the thought was not annoying as she made it to be.
Then again, she would admit that she was fond of Lambo.
"Since you are alive in 10 years, I'm guessing you survived against the Varia," Naruto commented. "Do you remember anything from during that time period? I need to know what I'm expecting since your younger self is going to face them."
Adult Lambo rubbed his chin and pulled his horn from the side of his head. The single green eye focused onto the horn as if he was deeply considering whether or not to tell her. He had to tell her. The black-haired boy had to understand what the hell was going on. If his younger self dies then his existence would be wiped out.
She would rather not have Tsuna blame her.
"I should correct you on something…my younger self isn't going to face them," Adult Lambo commented. She blinked and raised a single eyebrow at him. What the hell was he talking about? The black-haired teen sighed and shook his head. "Look I know myself and when I was five, I am no match against the Varia. My younger self will realize and will use the bazooka to save his ass."
It is weird that he is referring to his younger self as someone else. The blonde shook her head and regarded the Adult Lambo. It sounded like the boy implied that he would be strong enough against the Varia but something did not make sense. The boy did not talk as if he would be the one that would go into the fight against the Varia.
"He is going to switch with you, isn't he?" Naruto asked with a frown. That had to be the scenario since Adult Lambo was from the future and maybe just maybe the future was determined. She relaxed her shoulder. The future had to be determined but something about Adult Lambo's eyes told her that she might be wrong.
The teen shook his head and rubbed his chin like he was thinking about something. He better be thinking of an explanation. The answer was not what she had been expecting of him. If Lambo did not switch with this guy then what did he mean? She curled her lips into a frown and looked at the frowning boy.
"I don't know if he will switch with me," Adult Lambo answered. He tightened his grip onto the swing and looked up at the blue sky before flickering his eyes at her. She cleared her throat and raised a single eyebrow. "My younger self might switch with me or another version of himself that never trained with you."
Naruto jerked her head at him. What the hell did he mean? Wasn't his path set? But those words implied that the whole bazooka thing was more complicated than Tsuna explained. I need to understand where Adult Lambo is going with this because I can't understand that answer. She exhaled and rubbed the back of her neck.
"What do you mean?"
Adult Lambo frowned and closed his eyes as if he was thinking carefully about how to answer her question. It must be very complicated. That had to be the reason that he took so long to explain everything to her. She hoped so or she would make life difficult for his younger self. A sigh escaped her lips and the blonde leaned against the chair.
"Parallel universes exist and the 10-year bazooka switched myself with a future parallel version of myself," Adult Lambo explained slowly. He eyed the takoyaki stall from across the street and shook his head at her. "There are different realities. For example: in one world you became a shinobi, stayed in Konoha and became Hokage. In another reality…your parents is alive."
It sounds like I'm a naïve little girl who doesn't see a village that hurts us in the past. The blonde wrinkled her nose and stared at the grim-faced Lambo. If there were so many different types of realities then it meant the reality that she saw…might not happen. I actually feel sad about it. Her heart ached and the blonde shook her head.
No, she had to make sure that her understanding made sense.
"So when your younger self used the bazooka on me, I went into one of my possible futures?"
Adult Lambo nodded and the blonde closed her eyes. So in one universe, I probably would have never gotten together with Hibari or be so badly abused. That was an interesting idea and also quite sad when she thought about it. It meant that there might be a future where she never met any of them and that was odd.
She should not feel so sad about it.
"You always tell me that the future can change and you are right," Adult Lambo finally answered. He took a deep breath and exhaled before looking up at the sky. "I remembered when I was eight, I switched and found myself in a future where we never met. I asked Tsuna-niisan about you and he tells me that he never heard of you. He is quite hopeless without you or Reborn."
Naruto snorted at those words and felt her lips twitched into a smile. I guess I'm useful even if Gokudera complains about me. She shook her head at the thought. Why was she a little bit happy? It meant nothing. They had the relationship between broker and client but that was it. She rubbed the back of her neck and sighed.
"Thank you for confirming a fact," Naruto said with a sigh. "And thank you for making me realize that your 10-year Bazooka is a gamble when there is a possibility that your younger self might not switch with you."
