Jack rushed over to Aries, all thoughts on the extrapolator banishing at the sight of her passed out on the floor. He was quick to check if she was okay, calling her name as he tried to get her to awaken, but she didn't move. His head snapped to the TARDIS door when it flew open and the Doctor rushed in.
The moment the Doctor saw his Nesdra unresponsive beside Jack, he saw red. Just before reaching the TARDIS, he had felt a flair of pain in his mind before it vanished and he immediately knew something was wrong with his Nesdra. "What the hell did you do?!" he shouted as he rushed over to Aries side, shoving the man out of the way. His hearts were pounding in his chest as he checked her pulse, though they barely calmed when he found it. He glared at Jack, waiting for an answer.
Jack looked at the Doctor with wide eyes. He had no idea what was happening with Aries, "I don't know. It just went crazy and she screamed before collapsing."
The Doctor shook his head at the man, "It's the rift. Time and space ripping apart. The whole city's going to disappear!" he told him before his eyes turning hard, "But that doesn't explain what happened to Aries!"
"It's the extrapolator. I've disconnected it but it's still feeding of the engine! It's using the TARDIS and somehow it's harming Aries. I can't stop it!" Jack told him, looking both lost and sorry about what was happening.
The Doctor froze at his words, his mind already connecting the dots that Jack's couldn't. Somehow his Nesdra had forged a link with his ship, either because of their bond or something else, but right now it didn't matter. All he knew was that the extrapolator had started to rip open the rift which was also causing his TARDIS to start being torn apart. But that had also caused Aries to be harmed.
His head turned towards Margret, "You!" he hissed as he stood up, his eyes full of rage as the Oncoming Storm had broken free. All that was running through his mind was that it was her fault and the Slitheen would pay for doing this to his Nesdra.
Margret's eyes widened and she took an involuntary step backwards at the look on the Doctor's face. She remembered seeing a controlled rage in Downing Street, and even the anger not an hour earlier. But now, what she was seeing made her understand why so many species feared the Doctor. Standing before her was the one person who could make armies flee and entire civilisations cower. The Oncoming Storm had been released, and it was her fault.
"What's is it?" Rose yelled as she rushed through the door, "What's happening?!"
Margret took her chance and ripped the arm off her body suit before grabbing Rose around the neck. "On wrong move and she snaps like a promise."
The Doctor took a step towards Margret, his fury overtaking any reasonable thoughts. Jack was quick to stop him by grabbing his arm when he noticed Margret's hold on Rose tighten, causing the blonde to claw at Margret's arm as she started having trouble breathing. The moment Jack stopped the Doctor, Margret loosened her grip on Rose, allowing her to breathe.
The Doctor glared at Jack, but the man didn't let his arm go, unsure as to what the Time Lord would do while in this state. All he knew was that if the Doctor did try and stop Margret and Rose was harmed, he wouldn't forgive himself when he came back to his senses. Jack knew that the Doctor didn't like Rose the way he liked Aries, that the Time Lord couldn't like her like that, but he also knew that the Doctor wouldn't forgive himself if something happened to his companion because of his actions.
"I should have known," the Doctor growled as he refocused on Margret, able to pull together some sense of what was going on around him, though it was hard for him to stay focused as his thoughts kept drifting to his unconscious Nesdra.
"I had you bleating all night, poor baby, now shut it," Margret snapped, noticing the change in the Doctor. The anger was still there, but it wasn't as it had been. She looked to Jack, "You, fly boy, put the extrapolator at my feet," she ordered as she tightened her grip on Rose again.
Jack looked to the Doctor, unsure if it was okay to let him go, but when he saw the Doctor glance at him and nod, he did and grabbed the extrapolator. He paused briefly when he thought he saw Aries stir, but shook it off and moved to place the device beside Margret.
"Thank you. Just as I planned," Margret said as she let Rose go before quickly grabbing her hair.
"I thought you needed to blow up the nuclear power station," Rose gasped as Margret tugged her hair.
"Failing that, if I were to be arrested, then anyone capable of tracking me down would have considerable technology of their own," Margret explained.
No one noticed Aries get unsteadily to her feet, nor did they notice that her eyes were no longer sliver grey, but golden and pulsing with energy.
"Therefore, they would be captivated by the extrapolator. Especially a magpie mind like yours, Doctor. So the extrapolator was programmed to go to plan B. To lock onto the nearest alien power source and open the rift," Margret continued with a grin, "And what a power source it found. I'm back on schedule, thanks to you."
"The rift's going to convulsed," Jack exclaimed, "You'll destroy the whole planet."
"And you with it!" Margret told them as she stepped onto the extrapolator, still keeping a hold onto Rose, "While I ride this bored over the crest of inferno all-" she was cut off when the extrapolator shot out from under her, causing her to fall backwards, letting go of Rose in the process.
The Doctor and Jack moved to the side as the device shot past them before stopping in front of Aries, their mouths dropping open at the sight of her, while Rose was quick to move away from Margret as the Slitheen scrambled to her feet.
"You would bring death and destruction to this world," Aries spoke as she stepped towards Margret, but her voice seemed to overlap with another, "You would rip open a rift in time and space to escape justice."
"Aries?" the Doctor questioned, rather unsure what he was seeing.
Aries turned to the Doctor, "No, my Thief," she denied, causing the Doctor to grow confused, but she took no notice as she looked back to the Slitheen. "What you did not account for, Blon Fel Fotch, is that I am alive. In opening the rift, you began to tear me apart," the TARDIS console cracked open and a bright golden light hit Margret, "And in trying to tear me apart, you hurt my Wolf."
The Doctor inhaled sharply, "You're the TARDIS," he breathed, causing Jack and Rose to look to him with wide eyes.
Margret took a step back away from the console and Aries, her eyes wide in fear.
"What's that light?" Rose asked, completely unsure as to what was going on.
Aries turned her gaze to the blonde, "It is my heart," she turned back to Margret, "I am alive and you opened my soul. In doing so, I am able to be a witness to you own. What you have done to my Thief and my Wolf is unacceptable, and I say enough."
The light around Margret brightened, causing everyone bar Aries to shield their eyes as Margret screamed before she disappeared. The TARDIS console closed as the light retreated back into it.
The Doctor was quick to catch Aries as he noticed her swaying as her link to the ship was broken. "Hey there," he murmured when she tried to focus on him as he brushed some of her hair from her face.
Aries seemed confused as she tried to focus, though when she did so it made dark spots appear in her vision. "Doctor," she whispered as she recognised his scent, never wanting it to vanish. She raised a shaky hand and rested it on his cheek as she managed enough focus to look at him.
The Doctor smiled as he leaned into her hand, "I'm here," he told her, running his thumb over her cheek, "Rest now, Aries. I'm not going anywhere."
That was the last thing Aries remembered before she slipped back into unconsciousness, feeling safe in the arms that held her.
