(The notoriously private Vampire Goddess Mochizuki used the Island as her personal garden. Known as the mother of Dragons, bearing three sets of fangs and despite her ferocity, considered truly kind. The rumor, the truth, is that this tree was planted as wolves and people began to arrive in Japan. But the lie of the matter is that this cherry tree is not one tree but three trees. The legend states, well more like the truth of the matter. After all, the goddess is the one who told the story.
Each tree represents all of them. One for the Vampires. One for the wolves. and one for the humans. And as each grew the trunks twisted and snaked around and the branches mingled into a single massive tree. If you were to combined the three great cherry blossom trees of japan, which include Miharu Takizakura in Fukushima, Usuzumizakura in Gifu and Jindiazakura in Yamanashi, this spectacular tree would swallow them.)
Samantha arrived at the entrance to the garden. And there she was. She was leaning against the railing of the fence encircling the massive tree, looking up into the branches. a few cherry blossoms drifted and danced and finally landed like butterflies in her hair. A little slow…she said with a smirk. No…Samantha answered, I timed it just right so I wouldn't miss this view…she said walking over next to her and leaned back looking up at the massive thick branches and the layers of cherry blossoms.
Kinda out of season…Kuroko spoke with a nod of her head. It's always in season…Samantha shrugged. One of the advantages of our advance fertilization methods. She watched blossoms falling, with a quick puff of air she blew them away, letting them flutter and drift behind her.
Vampire blood? Kuroko whispered, still looking up into the canopy of the tree. Pretty much…Samantha answered. Spring, summer, fall and winter…its blooms early and last longer than normal and then turns green. But…she sighed, it's still one the most beautiful trees on the island. All because she planted them. Gave it a single drop of her blood. She stretched her shoulders, stood up from the railing and cracked her neck. Everyone's welcome…well…at least until it dies.. she said, scratching her head.
Oh well….Kuroko stood away from the railing, holding the small bag of gifts in her right hand. She quickly sniffed the air. Mmmm…snack time…she said, walking over to yatai or small food stand. Okonomiyaki! Is that bacon I'm smelling….give me three…she yelled, holding up three fingers.
Need anything blood sucker?
No…I'm still full…Samantha chuckled.
Taking her food, she and Samantha walked over to a small bench facing the cherry tree and sat down and ate. Kuroko leaned back against the bench, chewing, and watching the few people walking around slowly turn into a crowd. We're lucky…she said, watching it get crowded. It's getting close to evening. Megumi should be here around 11ish, so we've got plenty of time. Samantha covered her mouth and yawn.
Tired?
Hmmm…
How long? She asked, taking another bite, and chewed.
She knew vampires could stay up for four days without any sleep. But would crash. They could be walking to the store, watching TV or anything and drop like a stone. And sleep for days.
You know. If you crash…Kuroko wiggled her brow, licking the bacon dripping from her mouth.
You'll sexually assault me in ways I could only dream about. Or maybe am dreaming about…Samantha said, blush coloring her cheeks. Maybe, oh I don't know, strip me naked and…
Teleport you into the ocean…yea I could see that…wouldn't want to get your new clothes wet….she nodded…so please go ahead….fall asleep right here…she grinned maliciously.
No wonder I love you…Samantha's eyes narrowed in seduction, pucker her mouth.
Pfftp…you look like a fish.
She swallowed the last of her Okonomiyaki, licked each finger slowly. Samantha all but drooled at the sight of Kuroko doing what she was doing. Of course, kuroko knew what she was doing. She finished with a long lick of her palm and smacked her lips. That was good…nothing better than street food…
Except for a well cooked meal and bottle of wine with that special someone…even? Samantha snuck her head forward in anticipation of the answer.
The edge of Kuroko's mouth curved, licking her lips, she nodded. a close second of course. She chuckled, Honoka is a great cook. Letting out a breath.
A flash of light from a camera across the way caught her attention. Tourist?
Another flash. They're not taking pictures of the tree. Small streetlights were beginning to glow like amber. What is over there that so important?
Phhtp…Samantha shook her head, waved it off…A few trees just happen to fall. Nothing special..
Storm damage?
More like…Samantha put her finger to her mouth, like a force of nature.
Wolves! Kuroko looked over to Samantha, surprised. You're kidding? Right…she got up off the bench and walked over.
She knew firsthand the strength of wolves, seeing it during the invasion of the Island by combined US and JSDF many years ago. It was their first trip to the Island. a personal invitation from Ronan. Mikoto Misaka, Ruiko Saten, Uiharu Kazari and herself came to the island for a festival. Only to be caught in the middle of the action.
People gathered around, standing close taking pictures. Two large trees, trunks as round as cars and a third leaned over, its trunk splintered. A young woman was posing by the two trees, next to the large claw marks buried deep inside. The width of the claws wider than she was tall.
Shit….elder wolves…what happened?
Nothing much…a little something, something….you know…wolves can be so temperamental. She smiled.
