REWRITE: STAR WARS - EPISODE VII - THE DARK RESURGENCE

The present fanfic is a rewrite of the first film in the sequel trilogy. This is essentially the result of a writing exercise to rethink and fix a story that has several inconsistencies and is lacking in character development. Some characters and locations are preserved, others are abandoned. Key scenes in the film tend to be preserved as well.

30. Chapter 29

Poe and Chewie sit in the cockpit of the Millenium Falcon as the ship enjoys a view of the red arid planet of Takodana.

"I don't blame her for keeping the clinic in orbit," says Poe to Chewie. "I wouldn't trust a medbot with a bacta canister in that city if it were me."

Chewie remains quiet and broods over Poe's comment.

"What's the matter? Boma got your tongue?"

Chewie growls in revolt.

"I know, I know. They've been there for a few hours already, but they've got a Je-"

The intercom starts beeping frantically. Poe presses a button on the cockpit's control panel.

"Yan Ko sold us to the First Order," says Han. "They should be here any time now. Get Chewie to man the quad cannon, and you get us outta this escape pod."

Chewbacca gets out of his seat at once and Poe starts pushing buttons and pulling levers.

"Time to put the Falcon to the test," says Poe before the Falcon blasts off towards the escape pod.

Chewie growls at the comlink.

"Yeah! I see it too on the radar!" shouts Poe. "Hang in there, Solo."

Just before the falcon reaches the pod, before it surges a massive object dropping out of hyperspace. The vindicator class star destroyer dwarfs the Falcon.

"Han," calls Poe, "We have a problem…"
