Under My Control
Chapter 31
Author's Note : My readers i thank you for sticking with me. Throughout this journey. I love this story and these characters. Review!
After 8 years on the run. Sam Walker and her mother Rebecca Dennis Daniels. If the name sounds familiar it's because the mother daughter duo escaped being punished for their crimes years ago. Rebecca is the wife of criminal Xzavier Daniels. Not only that but the well known criminal is Samantha Walker's father. The small town of Tree Hill and it's residents can rest peacefully now knowing these criminals are in custody. In the vehicle with the pair was Quentin Fields. The aspiring basketball star would be taken into custody as well as an accomplice. The couple's 8 year old daughter. Mitchie would be taken into foster care.
Brooke turned off the tv and focused her gaze towards the walls of her store. Trying to process the emotion she felt.
Relief to start with knowing Sam, her mother, and boyfriend would be behind bars made her feel a sense of peace. As if all she had endured with Lucas wasn't for nothing.
Her heart broke for Mitchie that little girl would be thrown into the foster care system and bounce around from home to home until she was adopted. The irony never escaped her. Women that didn't want children had them anyway with no complications.
For herself the reality of pregnany would never happen. Her body just was not capable of the task. It angered her and yet the stubbornness in her lived on which pushed her to try to get pregnant anyway. Time after time it would end up with there being no heartbeat. Or she would miscarry. It took this overwhelming toll on her heart and mind.
Caused her to hate her body. Not wanting herself to be touched by her husband. Which went on for 2 years into their new marriage. After they overcame that struggle and reunited physically. Brooke realized she had put far too much pressure on herself and husband. Lucas loved her with or without the ability to bear children. Risking her marriage by attempting to grow their family wasn't worth the risk to her.
She decided she would stop researching for that kind of fulfillment and be satisfied with what she had.
...
Days Later
Brooke and Lucas finished preparing everything needed for their annual dinner. With family and friends.
Jamie set the table. And looked around at the photo wall in the home. With his mother in every picture.
There were candles lit on the long dining table. Her favorite food dishes and desserts were displayed throughout the table.
Jamie sat beside his aunt and uncle. His friends were seated at the table along with Madison.
Everyone lifted their glasses as Lucas spoke.
"Haley James. There is not a day that goes by we don't miss you. And wish you were here to experience life with us. But you always larger then life. You're smile, laugh, big heart. The way you made everyone feel loved and included. 8 years ago today. You left us. You have and will never be forgotten you." Lucas said.
Everyone clinked their glasses. "To Haley." Echoed throughout the room. As people started to eat and drink.
Sometime Later
Jamie put his house key in his pocket and walked along the sidewalk he knew this town these streets better then he knew himself these days. He eventually stopped walking. And entered the cemetery. He bypassed the various grave stones soon stopping in front of his mother's.
"I have wishes. And my predictions. I miss you momma. You not being here. Hasn't gotten easier. I'm grateful and thankful for the love and support i have in my life. Uncle Lucas and aunt Brooke. Have been incredible. I couldn't ask for more then that. It's sometimes. You need you're mom. I feel like the older i get you are slipping away farther away from me. I try to remember what you're voice sounds like or memories we shared together and i can't. And that scares me. Without those you're really gone. And i can't handle that losing you all over again." Jamie confessed. His voice breaking with emotion.
The teenager quickly wiped his tears and left the cemetery.
Nathan appeared out of the shadows and placed down. A new bouquet of flowers.
"I'm sorry Haley. For falling short time and time again. I love you. I miss you. I've been lost since you've left us." Nathan said.
