Review:
"I would offer to pet Zorro, but he is very selective about when I get to pet him." Toshiro said, eyeing the black cat that Karin loved so much.
"He's an angel."
"You're the only one who see's that." Toshiro replied to Karin, smirking as the rest of her family laughed, and he just wrapped his arm a little closer around her shoulders and kissed the top of her head. A lot has changed in the last year, but the one thing I'm enjoying is experiencing these holidays for the second time with Karin. I feel like things are becoming tradition, and I didn't realize just how much I was missing out in my life before I met her. I've never been happier.
A week and a half later, November 9th
"Hey Karin!"
Jumping out of the way from Shohei's attack, Karin chuckled as he had to roll to avoid falling. "Timeout."
Shohei stood up and scowled at her. "You can't call a timeout in the middle of sparring-"
"What's up Kimi?" Karin interrupted Shohei, already walking in her friend's direction. They were at one of the Somi Tower's training spaces, and were getting in a training session along with some of the other teams in their age group.
"Karin!" Shohei called over, his eyes narrowed at her, as he was clearly growing annoyed. "Can't this wait until we are done?"
"No!" Karin called back, finally reaching Kimi, and smiling at her. "Sorry for my grumpy teammate. He doesn't have any friends, so he doesn't understand it."
"I heard that!" Shohei exclaimed, a little burst of power coming from him with his anger.
"All I'm saying is that if you were a lot nicer to people, then you might make some friends!" Karin called back, a smirk on her face at how that just seemed to make Shohei's blood boil even more.
"We're training Karin. Not having a social club-"
"I thought we were becoming friends." Raiden interrupted Shohei from where he was relaxing over by the side of the training ground, and waiting for them to finish their spar.
Shohei deadpanned in Raiden's direction. "No."
"Why not-"
"I'm not interested in getting to know either of you outside of our Somi work." Shohei interrupted Raiden this time, his arms crossed over his chest, and his expression remained stoic.
As that proceeded to get under Raiden's skin enough to get the two in an argument, Karin took the opportunity to focus on Kimi. "What's up?"
"My team just finished up with a training session," Kimi said, her eyes finally leaving Karin's teammates to focus on Karin. "So it's been a month."
"A month of what?" Karin asked, an eyebrow raised at the smile on Kimi's face.
"You know. It's been a month of you being on birth control. Have you and Toshiro done anything yet?" Kimi asked.
Sighing heavily, Karin was quiet for a moment, then she finally shook her head. "No."
"And why the hell not?"
"I don't know… It just hasn't felt like it was the right time yet. Is that why you came over here-"
"Karin, you're thinking too much about it."
"Kimi..."
At Karin trailing off, Kimi raised an eyebrow. "There is a reason you're getting cold feet again."
Karin sighed heavily and crossed her arms. "I'm kind of nervous about it. Now that we can have sex… It just kind of brought on a bunch of stuff I didn't think about."
"Like what?"
"What if I'm not good at it?" Karin countered, her eyes leaving Kimi's to look upward. "He's had sex before, and he has experience at it. I don't have any."
Kimi rolled her eyes and waved off her concern. "Karin, it doesn't matter that he has experience. You two obviously love each other. You may not know what you're doing at first, but I promise you that you'll get the hang of it quickly-"
"Kimi!" Karin interrupted, before they both laughed. "I'm changing the subject away from me now. How is the whole looking for a boyfriend thing going?"
"Not that well," Kimi said with a shrug. "I just seem to attract those guys that only want sex."
Karin deadpanned. "But that's exactly what you want."
"I mean yeah," Kimi agreed, smirking as that made Karin laugh. "And it is great and all for a while, but then I end up wanting a boyfriend. You know, to do actual boyfriend things with sometimes. Of course, I don't know if I want them to be there all the time though."
"Wow, your life is really difficult."
"Shut up!" Kimi shot back, before she and Karin both laughed.
"Come on Karin!" Raiden called over from where he and Shohei were. "Let's go already! I can't have my turn until you and Shohei spar!"
"Stop interrupting my very important conversation or I will break you both!" Karin called back, breaking into a fit of giggles with Kimi at how that made her teammates quiet again. She sighed once she composed herself. "We'll talk later?"
"Sure, have fun here!" Kimi called back, already on her way out the door.
"Unlikely!" Karin laughed, before focusing back on her teammates. Both of which where glaring at her. She waved off their glares. "You're the ones who wanted to get back to training. Let's go!"
Later that day
Karin found the same fire feeling she got whenever she and Toshiro made out with each other. However, when his hands started slipping under her shirt, she felt the nagging nerves in the back of her mind, and she pulled back and looked away. "I'm sorry."
Raising an eyebrow at her hesitation, Toshiro sat up. "What's wrong?"
Karin remained quiet for a moment, then she finally looked back at Toshiro and sat up too. "I'm just kind of nervous about it… I'm worried I'm not going to be any good at it."
"Karin," Toshiro said, offering her a smile. "It's going to be fine. You don't have to worry about it."
That brought a scowl to Karin's face. "That's easy for you to say."
"Why?" Toshiro asked.
"I'm sure you've done this before, and that doesn't make me feel any better." Karin replied, pulling her hands back from his, before she crossed her arms.
"The only thing that matters is that we love each other Karin," Toshiro said, leaning over and hesitating to wait for her to look back at him, then he kissed her. "We don't have to do anything tonight, and we can just relax and watch a movie."
"Are you sure? I'm really sorry-"
"Don't apologize," Toshiro interrupted her, wrapping an arm around her. "I don't want to have sex unless you're ready. I don't want you to feel like you have to just because I want to."
"Okay." Karin accepted after another moment, she settled to sitting next to him on the couch and rested her head back. I'm a little relieved we didn't do anything. I don't know what it is, but I just can't move past this anxiety.
At The Grill
Yuzu's phone buzzing made her stop just before she could go inside the bar & grill. It was an update text from Taro that he would be there in less than ten minutes. Okay, ten minutes isn't too bad. I'll just go hide in a booth somewhere, so I don't look awkward standing around waiting for Taro. Walking inside The Grill, Yuzu's eyes swept around to search for the perfect booth away from others, but she found herself looking to the bar. A smile appeared on her face at the sight of the bright red hair. Walking over, she rested her elbows on the bar. "Busy shift?"
Kat turned around and smiled at Yuzu. "It hasn't been too bad. My boss is being very chill today for some reason, and she's letting me stay behind the bar by myself occasionally."
"Isn't that against the law?" Yuzu asked, sitting down on a barstool.
Shrugging, Kat put some of the clean glasses back on the shelf. "I'm not going to tell on her. Besides, I can pass for someone who is of age right?"
"Sure," Yuzu said, an eyebrow raised when Kat showed a tattoo on her arm. "What in the hell is that?"
"It's a tiger." Kat replied, laughing.
"I can see that," Yuzu said, fighting the urge to smirk. "How do you have a tattoo already?"
"Because, my mom is really cool," Kat said, chuckling at Yuzu's look of disbelief still. "My mom, my aunt, and I went on a weekend getaway about a month ago, and she let me get tattoos with them."
Yuzu smirked. "Tattoos, as in, plural?"
Kat turned and tucked her hair back. Revealing a paw print tattoo behind her ear.
"Oh wow," Yuzu said, admiring the tattoo. "My dad would kill me if I said I wanted to get a tattoo."
"But yet, he let your sister get her belly button pierced?" Kat countered, an eyebrow raised.
"How do you know about that?"
"I follow her on Instagram."
"Of course. She has like ten thousand followers," Yuzu said, then she shrugged. "Karin actually did that without asking our dad. Her boyfriend was the one who made her tell him though. She made the argument that it was her body and that it wasn't permanent. A tattoo, on the other hand, is more permanent."
"I guess I can see that," Kat said, focusing on another person at the bar, before returning back to Yuzu. "I follow you on Instagram too. However, you only post pictures of your art like once every two months."
Yuzu grew a small smirk on her face. "Well, taking selfies isn't really my thing."
"You should post one every once in a while," Kat said, propping her chin on her hand. "Sometimes when we do things that we don't usually like to do, it can open doors to new possibilities."
"That was a very deep way to say that I need to post a picture of my face." Yuzu said, laughing along with Kat, but she stopped when she noticed Taro walking over out of the corner of her eye.
"Hey." Taro greeted Yuzu, wrapping an arm around her, and kissing her.
"Hey," Yuzu replied, smiling at Taro, before looking to Kat. "I have to go. Taro and I are about to have dinner."
"No problem," Kat said, motioning to the bar. "I am just going to go back to work, and hopefully avoid all the drunk people hitting on me."
"Good luck with that," Yuzu said with a grin, before she got off the barstool. She smiled when Taro wrapped his arms around her and kissed her. "I'm so ready to eat some food."
"Same here," Taro said, as they went to go sit in a booth. "We should order appetizers right away."
"Mozzarella sticks?" Yuzu asked.
"At least two baskets." Taro agreed, laughing along with Yuzu as they sat down.
An hour later
When Taro's car came to a stop, Yuzu sighed and smiled at him. "I'm so sorry that I had to cancel our after-dinner plans. Hinata called and was crying about some big fight she had with Yukio."
"Don't worry about it," Taro said, resting his hand on hers. "You need to be there for your friend. I can understand that."
"You are so understanding, and I love you," Yuzu said, kissing him once before getting out of the car. "Text me when you get home please."
Taro grinned and waited until she walked around to the driver's side, and he rolled down the window. "You always say that."
"I just worry about you, that's all." Yuzu explained, with a smile.
"And I appreciate that," Taro said, smiling when she leaned down to kiss him one more time. "I love you."
"I love you too." Yuzu replied, waiting until Taro drove away, before she focused down on her phone. Texting her dad that there was a friend emergency, and she'd be staying over at Hinata's that night. After sending the text, she walked up to Hinata's front door and knocked.
After a moment, the door opened, and Hinata's mom let her in. "Yuzu, do you know what's going on with Hinata? She's been up in her room and won't talk to anyone."
Yuzu shrugged. "She had an argument with Yukio or something. That's all I know so far."
"Well, maybe you can figure out what happened," Hinata's mom said, motioning to the kitchen. "I'm going to be making some cookies with her little sister, and I'll bring them up when their cooled off. Maybe that will help her feel better."
"Hopefully." Yuzu offered Hinata's mom a smile, before starting up the stairs to Hinata's room. She paused before going in when her phone buzzed.
Dad: That sounds good. Make sure you are on time for school tomorrow.
Yuzu: Will do.
Slipping her phone back into her pocket, Yuzu continued down the hall to Hinata's room. Knocking on the already open door to let Hinata know she was here, she frowned when her friend looked up to her. All puffy-eyed and in a pile of pillows and blankets. Closing the door behind her, she sat down on Hinata's bed and sighed. "What happened?"
Sniffling, Hinata wiped her eyes. "It was so stupid."
Yuzu sighed at Hinata starting to cry again, and she rested a hand on her shoulder. "Tell me all about it."
The next morning, Friday
"Where's Karin and Yuzu?" Ichigo asked, sitting down on the couch after letting Bingo in from the backyard. "They have school right?"
"Yeah, they do. Yuzu slept over at Hinata's last night," Isshin said, then he glanced towards the stairs. "And I believe Karin is still sleeping."
"Are you two still planning on re-doing the front porch area at your house?" Hana asked, joining them in the living room after starting another pot of coffee.
"Yeah, but now we're going to focus on re-tiling the path from the porch to the driveway." Ichigo replied, reaching down to pat the ground so Bingo would lay down.
"Well, Mina doesn't want to wake up this morning. She's very grumpy right now." Orihime said, walking into the living room from the hall with all the guest bedrooms on it.
"She slept all the way over here too," Ichigo said, reaching over to take over holding Mina so Orihime could take a break. "The last month or two, she's been waking up at five in the morning, and would take her first nap around ten or eleven. It's nice that she slept later than usual, but if she doesn't take her nap on time it just messes with the whole schedule-"
Someone knocking on the front door interrupted Ichigo, but the knocking didn't stop. As Isshin got up to go open the door, Hana tried to look out the window from where she was sitting. "I wonder who that is so early in the morning."
Isshin opened the door to reveal Kimi on the other side. "Good morning Kimi. It's six in the morning-"
"Hi. Can I come in? Thanks." Kimi interrupted, walking right past him and the others to go upstairs. She went straight to Karin's room and opened the door. Slightly startling Zorro, who was asleep in the cat tower near the door, and Gus lifted his head up. She just closed the door behind her, before running and jumping on Karin's bed.
Karin's eyes snapped open, a startled expression on her face that quickly turned into irritation. "What in the hell Kimi? I was sleeping."
Ignoring Karin's groans, Kimi settled next to Karin on the bed. "We need to talk."
"Couldn't this have waited until we're at school in an hour?"
"No it can't."
At Kimi's insistence, Karin sighed and gave Gus some attention. "No Kimi, Toshiro and I did not have sex last night. We decided not to after I chickened out-"
"Not about that." Kimi interrupted, sitting down on Karin's bed.
At Kimi not elaborating, Karin finally sat up. "What's going on?"
It was quiet for a moment, then Kimi sighed. "I did something bad. Really, really bad."
At school
"Don't worry Hinata," Yuzu said, as she and Hinata walked in the school. Stopping to avoid being overheard by a group of passing students, Yuzu offered Hinata a smile. "I'm sure that you and Yukio are going to smooth things over right away today."
Hinata sighed heavily. "It was a really bad fight… Honestly, though, I think we let it get out of control."
"Exactly. It was just taken too far, and I'm sure you'll be able to talk it out-"
Hinata grabbed Yuzu's arm to stop her, as she could see Yukio down the hall. "He's waiting by my locker."
Yuzu gave Hinata an encouraging nod. "Go talk to him. I'll be waiting at my locker okay?"
"Okay." Hinata said, taking a breath, before going to her locker.
Walking over to her own locker, Yuzu opened it, but paused to look back in Hinata and Yukio's direction. Realizing that the conversation was getting tense, as Yukio appeared to be apologizing but Hinata's expression turned darker. She followed Hinata's glare to see that her focus was now on Karin and Kimi at their lockers. Why is she glaring at them?
After school
Karin pulled into the driveway. She could tell her dad and Hana had parked in the garage, so she knew she didn't need to park in there. After getting out of the car, she sighed at the lack of movement from the other side of her car, and she leaned down to see Kimi slouched in the passenger seat. "We're parked. It's time to get out of the car."
"I don't want to do anything." Was Kimi's reply, remaining slouched in the seat.
"Come on Kimi," Karin said, offering her friend a smile. "We'll grab a ton of snacks and binge-watch old Grey's Anatomy episodes."
It was quiet for a moment, before Kimi finally sighed over-dramatically. "Okay."
Waiting for Kimi to get out of the car, Karin's eyes went to Orihime and Ichigo's car parked in the driveway, then to Kimi's car that was still parked out on the street. "Do you need anything from your car?"
"Nah." Kimi said, finally get out of the car, so they could go to the house.
Once inside the house, Karin smiled at the sight of Toshiro on the couch as well. "Hey, I'm sorry, but something came up. I won't be able to hang out today."
Gently pulling Karin down a little to kiss her, Toshiro smiled when she straightened back up. "That's okay."
"That's perfect actually," Orihime said, from where she was sitting over on the other couch with Ichigo. "You can come over to our house and help Ichigo pull up our old walkway tiles. We bought new tiles, and they finally came in today."
"I said I could do it." Ichigo spoke up before Toshiro could."
"I know you did, and I appreciate it," Orihime said, kissing Ichigo on the cheek, before she patted his hand. "At least this way, it will get done before New Years."
While that made everyone laugh, Hana's focus had landed on Kimi, who had gone over to sit at the table. "Kimi, how are you? You've been quiet. This morning for breakfast and now."
"I don't want to talk about." Was all Kimi said, before dropping her head down on the table.
Karin quickly shook her head to keep them from saying anything else to Kimi, before she focused on Kimi. "I'm going to get us some drinks and snacks, then we can go upstairs."
Before Karin could go into the kitchen, the front door opened, and in came Yuzu. Shutting the door with a slight slam, as she kicked off her shoes. Ignoring the greetings from the others, her eyes landed right on Kimi who had looked up from the table. "What in the hell is wrong with you?!"
Karin stepped in before Kimi could say anything. "Yuzu, back off."
"Don't defend her!" Yuzu exclaimed, her eyes full of anger.
Turning to Kimi, Karin motioned to the stairs. "Maybe you should go upstairs."
It was quiet as Kimi got up from the table and went upstairs, Yuzu barely waited until she was up there, before focusing her eyes on Karin. "How in the hell are you going to stand there and defend her?"
"Okay girls," Isshin started, a hand raised at the obvious tension in the room. "What's going on?"
"Yuzu," Karin continued on, her eyes remaining on her sister. "Kimi is my best friend."
Yuzu scoffed and motioned to the stairs. "So what? Hinata's my best friend, and what Kimi did to her was awful!"
"Kimi feels horrible enough already-"
"Well she should!" Yuzu exclaimed, matching her sister's glare.
At the argument escalating, Isshin once again waved to get their attention. "Girls."
"Excuse me. Kimi knows she messed up Yuzu. Maybe show a little understanding-"
"Understanding?" Yuzu interrupted, her eyes wide with disbelief. "She slept with Hinata's boyfriend!"
"And she feels horrible about it!" Karin exclaimed, throwing her hands up, as she narrowed her eyes. "And why in the hell are you acting like it's all on her?! Yukio was the one who went out and had sex with someone other than Hinata, and he knows he is in a relationship. He's just as much as fault as Kimi is."
Yuzu scoffed. "I get that Kimi is your friend, but you of all people should be sympathizing with Hinata here."
"What because my ex-boyfriend cheated on me?" Karin countered, rolling her eyes, as she laughed shortly. "News flash Yuzu, contrary to what you stupidly believe in, I didn't blame the girl for Ryuu cheating on me."
"Oh really? What are you two best friends then? What do you two bond over-"
"Yuzu!" Isshin exclaimed.
Karin was back to glaring. "You're missing the point dumb ass."
"Karin!" Ichigo exclaimed again, this time standing up from the couch and turning to face the girls.
Neither Karin nor Yuzu looked in their father's direction, as Yuzu pointed to Karin. "You're the one who is acting like Kimi didn't do anything wrong, and it is all Yukio's fault!"
"I'm not saying that Kimi didn't screw up, because she did! But you can't deny that Yukio is the one who actually cheated in a relationship," Karin said, her arms crossed calmly over her chest. "You of all people should understand that."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Yuzu asked, an eyebrow raised in confusion. "I've never cheated on Taro."
Karin laughed sarcastically. "That's rich."
"Excuse me?" Yuzu countered.
"I'm not blind Yuzu! I've seen you hanging around at The Grill, and at the Halloween party talking to Kat!"
Karin's words took Yuzu aback for a moment, before she finally settled in a frown. "I'm not cheating on Taro."
"Are you sure about that?" Karin countered, before motioning in Toshiro's direction. "Because if I was hanging around Ryuu a lot whenever Toshiro wasn't around, and laughing way too much at everything he said, that'd be pretty questionable. It would be disrespectful to Toshiro, and it's basically like I'm cheating on him."
"I don't think so-"
"It's called emotional cheating Yuzu. How would Taro feel if he knew you were flirting and laughing with Kat almost every day. I know that Toshiro wouldn't be okay with that if I did that with my ex."
"I never dated Kat."
"Yeah, but you kissed her-"
Karin was interrupted by Ichigo choking on his drink. Yuzu's hardly acknowledged the others eyes on her now. "I kissed her before Taro and I were officially dating."
"That's not the point!" Karin exclaimed, laughing sarcastically again. "The point is that you were attracted to her then, and you obviously still are with how you act whenever you're around her!"
"Take that back!" Yuzu exclaimed, picking up a book and throwing it at Karin.
Dodging the book, Karin's anger grew, as she slammed her hand down on the table. "What the hell?"
Unlike Yuzu, Karin's action was a bit more effective, as a little bit of her Somi powers came out. Causing Yuzu to stumble backward, and a picture frame to fall off the wall and shatter.
"Enough!" Isshin exclaimed, finally stepping in-between the two. "Yuzu go upstairs. Do not speak to Kimi, or else you will be grounded."
Scowling at her dad, Yuzu turned back to glare at Karin. "I hate you!"
"Good for you!" Karin shouted back, rolling her eyes, as her sister went upstairs. A loud slam of a door being shut was the last thing that was heard.
Taking a deep breath, Isshin's eyes met his daughter's. "Karin, no matter how angry you get at your sister, you should never use your powers against her."
"Yuzu started it! She's a freaking hypocrite," Karin said, her eyes on Toshiro now. "Would you not be upset with me if I started hanging out with Ryuu whenever you weren't around?"
Toshiro was quiet for a moment, then he sighed and rubbed his forehead. "I wouldn't exactly be happy about it. I really don't want to get involved in this though-"
"Yuzu doesn't freaking get that, but she wants to try and throw Kimi under the bus for something she already feels awful about!" Karin exclaimed, interrupting Toshiro and having to take a deep breath to calm down. Her eyes on Hana, who was going to sweep up the glass that broke. "Hana, you don't have to do that. I'll clean it up."
"It's okay, I've got it." Hana said, already starting on picking up the big pieces, before going for the broom.
Karin's eyes went to her dad. "I'm sorry for using my powers against Yuzu. I will apologize to her after she calms down, but I will not apologize for what I said to her. Because she had no right to blame all of that on Kimi."
Isshin sighed heavily, and he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Just go upstairs, and don't talk to your sister right now."
"No problem with that." Karin agreed right away, grabbing a bunch of snacks from the kitchen, before she went upstairs to her room. Once in there, she let Gus walk in, before closing the door behind her.
Kimi, who was stretched out on Karin's bed, finally turned over to face Karin. "Sorry for causing World War 3."
"Don't apologize. Yuzu is just trying to protect Hinata..." Karin trailed off, as she set their snack down on her bedside table. "And it's really none of my business, but I think you need to apologize to Hinata at some point. Because even though Yukio was the one in the relationship who cheated, it's still not okay to sleep with someone else's boyfriend."
Kimi sighed heavily, as she patted the bed for Gus to jump up on the bed. "I know. Yukio told me they had broken up, and I was drinking and stupidly believed it. I feel horrible..."
"I know you do," Karin said, a sympathetic smile on her face, as she grabbed the remote to turn on Netflix. "But I got some comfort food, and all the Grey's Anatomy episodes."
Later that evening
Pausing at the door, Karin glanced back to see Kimi asleep on her bed, an arm wrapped around Gus. He's the perfect teddy bear when you need one. She left to go downstairs, and she found Orihime, Ichigo, and Toshiro were back over. She smiled and leaned over the back of the couch to kiss Toshiro on the cheek. "How'd the walkway go?"
"It's mostly done," Orihime said, a smile on her face from where she was petting Lou. "It probably would have gone done if Ichigo and Toshiro weren't taking breaks every ten minutes."
"It wasn't every ten minutes." Toshiro disagreed, reaching down and handing Mina's toy back to her from where it fell off the couch.
"It was just every other ten minutes." Ichigo added, sharing a smirk with Toshiro, and having to dodge Orihime as he snickered.
"We ordered pizza for dinner. It's in the kitchen," Isshin said, as he sat down. Handing a plate over to Hana. "So, Kimi's car is still outside. Is she feeling any better?"
"She fell asleep somewhere between the third and fourth season of Grey's Anatomy. I probably should have been paying more attention, but I got distracted-" Karin broke off, as she could just barely see that Yuzu was on the back porch through the back door. "I will be right back."
"Karin," Isshin said, stopping her before she could go. "I don't want our neighbors to call the cops over a noise complaint."
"Okay, I got it," Karin said, before she went out on the back porch. After sliding the door shut, she turned to face her sister in silence for a long moment. "I apologize for using my powers against you. I took it too far, and that could have ended up badly… I'm not going to apologize for the other stuff, because I don't think I was wrong. Although I could have probably gone without mentioning that you kissed Kat in front of our family."
It was quiet after Karin stopped talking, Yuzu stared down at the patio table for a moment. However, when she heard her sister move to go back inside, she finally lifted her eyes to her. "Wait… I'm sorry. I shouldn't have thrown that book at you. And… I don't hate you. You were right about it not being all Kimi's fault. But that doesn't mean she didn't do something wrong."
Karin sat down on the opposite side of the patio table. "Kimi knows she did something wrong Yuzu. Apparently Yukio told her that he and Hinata broke up, and that's not a good excuse. But, she already feels terrible enough. She wants to apologize to Hinata, but she didn't have a chance to."
"Today wouldn't have been a good idea, because Hinata's extremely upset and angry," Yuzu said, letting them fall into silence after that. It took a couple of minutes of thought, before she sighed. "Maybe you have a point about Kat and I. It'd be different if we were solely friends and all, but we do have a history… I'm not going to lie, I'm still attracted to her like I was last year. But, I love Taro. It's probably not a good idea to be spending that much time with Kat."
"I'm not saying you have to ice her out completely, but maybe just be careful not to cross any boundaries." Karin suggested.
Yuzu smiled finally, and she held out a hand to her sister. "Thanks for keeping it real."
"You're welcome," Karin said, accepting her sister's hand to shake it. "I would thank you for something, but it would be weird if I thanked you for trying to hit me with a book."
That made them both laugh as they finally got up to go inside for some dinner. It was quiet when they came in, and finally Yuzu stepped forward. "If this is about what Karin said earlier about me kissing Kat, it's not that big of a deal. I guess I'm attracted to guys and girls. It's not okay to shame people anymore for that."
"That is perfectly fine Yuzu," Isshin said right away. "We don't want you to think it's not."
Yuzu shrugged and crossed her arms over her chest. "For the record, I'm not cheating on Taro. Karin had a point that maybe I was getting too comfortable with Kat. And I should be a little more conscious of my interactions with her."
"Hey what do you want?!" Karin's voice came from the kitchen. "Cheese or pepperoni?"
"Is that even a question? Cheese!" Yuzu called back, turning around to go join Karin in the kitchen.
It was quiet after Yuzu left them in the living room. Ichigo deadpanned at how his sisters were heard laughing from the kitchen. "Wow, just a few hours ago they were ready to kill each other."
"You're sisters are extreme." Toshiro said, smirking at how he noticed Karin heard that, and poked her head out of the kitchen just to stick her tongue out at him.
"You know," Ichigo said, picking up Mina when she reached up for him. "All of this started happening after I moved out of the house. Yuzu was never the type to confront anyone. Karin would have, but usually it'd be her arguing with me."
"A lot has changed this past year and a half," Isshin said, a smirk growing on his face. "No one tells you that when you have two daughters it is all fun until they reach high school."
That made Hana and Orihime laugh, Hana shrugging. "Well, I can't relate. I was an only child."
"It was only my brother and I. That with our significant age difference prevented a lot of conflict." Orihime said, her eyes going back to the kitchen when Karin and Yuzu were laughing.
The two returned back to the living room, Yuzu finishing a bite of pizza. "Dad, I'm probably going back over to Hinata's tonight. But I'm going to walk, because I don't think it's a good idea for her to be over here. We have had enough drama for one day."
"And Kimi is probably spending the night," Karin said, motioning to the stairs. "But mostly because she fell asleep over here, and I have no idea if she has plans to go home."
Isshin chuckled at that. "Okay, well make sure you text her parents and tell them where she is. And Yuzu, whenever you want to leave, I can give you a ride over there."
"Sounds good." Yuzu and Karin chorused, before going upstairs. All bad feelings forgotten.
A/N: Yuzu and Karin arguing was my favorite scene to write this chapter.
