BGM: Home - Undertale

Jaune placed a huge pot of food on the table. "Alright, everyone. Dinner is served! Dig in!"

Everyone sat on cushions around a low table, munching on delicious supper and catching up. Lucina told everyone her story, about how she'd traveled back in time to bring the kingdom of Ylisse a brighter future. Aris told the group about his stay in Skyworld, a time during which he'd been improving his hand-to-hand greatly. He'd had the help of two famous martial artists named Ken Masters and Terry Bogard.

Jaune had just finished telling everyone about something that had happened to him, Ruby, Ren, and Nora on their trip to Mistral. "Of all the times you could've lost your map, of course you lose it at that point!" Yang laughed.

"Hey, but you made up for it, mister muscles!" Nora said. "You should've seen this guy take on that giant Grimm head-on!"

"Couldn't have done it if Ruby hadn't worn it down first," Jaune said bashfully.

"Uh, me?" said Ruby. "Did you even see Ren during that fight? He was an absolute madman!"

"Sorry about that," Ren apologized. "I lost my temper momentarily."

"I believe she meant that you fought well, Ren," Lucina pointed out from her seat next to Jaune (who had turned red at the thought of a princess sitting next to him).

"Oh," said Ren, turning to Ruby. "Thanks."

A few moments later...

Aris gasped. "No way you did that!"

Weiss buried her face in her hands with embarrassment. "Yes, I did. I send out Articuno to attack some lady. Right in the middle of the party."

Aris put his arm around his lover. "To be fair, she kinda had it coming."

"Please tell me Articuno dished out some justice," said Raylo.

"Of course not," said Weiss. "Well, Articuno did almost dive-bomb her, but Ironwood knocked him away with a bullet just in time."

"Jeez, talk about giving the cold shoulder," Takashi quipped.

Everyone laughed.

A few more moments later...

Everyone stared in awe at Yang's new right arm. "It's no replacement for the real thing," she said, "and it's nowhere near as cool as Aris's arm, but I'll be sure to make good use of it."

The former Beacon students (and Lucina) all voiced their wonder. Ruby squealed and rushed up next to her sister. "And it's just as strong?"

"Sure is," Yang affirmed.

From the table, a slam. Nora had her arm positioned for an arm-wrestling match. "Wanna test that theory?"

Weiss sighed. "Nora, please. Now isn't the time-"

Before she could say anything more, Yang and Nora were already going at it, putting all their effort into their arm-wrestling.

Jaune and Ren rooted for Nora, while Ruby rooted for Yang. Weiss just stood there with her arms crossed.

"C'mon, sis!" Ruby cheered. "You can't lose to a girl in a skirt!"

"You wear a skirt, Ruby," Weiss deadpanned.

"It definitely feels like the original," Nora said, straining. "I'll give you that much."

"Yep," Yang strained. "But it does have some new functions."

"Like what?" Nora jeered. "Can it vibrate or something?"

Suddenly, Yang's arm shot off of her body, sending Nora into a wall. "I guess Yang wins," Aris said, shrugging.

Nora recovered from the launch, only to find Yang's arm in her hand. "GAH!" she cried.

Yang howled with laughter as Nora hurled the arm at her. The blonde brawler caught it and reattached the prosthesis to her body.

Lucina looked at Aris. "Well, now that Yang's done showing off, why don't you show everyone your new arm?" she suggested.

Aris nodded. He got up and stood before his fellow Huntsmen-in-training.

"You gonna show off your arm now?" Nora asked.

Aris nodded again. "Yep." He flexed his left arm. "This arm is made using highly sophisticated technology utilized by the Sheikah in Hyrule's ancient past. It was designed by my sister, Loretta, the princess of Hyrule." He showed everyone the back of his left hand. "It holds my Galladite keystone here, so I can still Mega Evolve my Gallade. But, that isn't all it can do."

"So what other tricks do you have up your sleeve?" Jaune questioned.

"Well," said Aris, "the arm can do everything a Sheikah Slate can do. All the runes, display a map, take pictures, summon my motorcycle, et cetera. But, there's more." The left hand on Aris's arm began to transform into a three-clawed grappling hook. "It doubles as a Hookshot," he said. "And, it can also do this."

The forearm began to glow blue. Something began to take shape from glowing energy. It was a round, glowing shield, hovering just above Aris's left forearm. It had the same symbol on it as Aris's old Hylian Shield. Everyone applauded this new function. "Not only can I block with this shield," Aris said, "I can also throw it at enemies and generate a new shield instantaneously."

"That's amazing!" Ruby gushed.

Some time later...

Jaune set another plate into the sink. "Gyah...we ate it all." He groaned. "I think I'm gonna be sick."

"Easy there, Vomit Boy," Yang snickered. "You can keep it together, I believe in you."

"Ooh," said Jaune. "So we're doing nickname throwbacks now. Great."

Weiss giggled.

"I mean, Ice Queen over here seems to like it," said Nora, gesturing to the heiress.

Ruby erupted into hysterical laughter. Yang snickered. Aris wagged his eyebrows at her.

"I so did not miss you people," Weiss said.

Aris gasped, feigning shock and pointing at Weiss. "By the Goddess! She really does like it!"

"What made your heart suddenly grow three sizes while you were gone?" said Nora.

"Hey!" said Weiss. "You make it sound like I used to be terrible!"

"Nah," said Aris. "Just a lot to deal with all at once."

Weiss narrowed her eyes at him playfully. Aris stuck his tongue out at her.

"It's been a long time," said Ren. "We've all grown in our own ways."

"You really think so?" said Ruby.

"Well, think back to when we were all at Beacon," Ren answered. "Would you say you ever did something foolish or embarrassing? Or do you think you were perfect?"

Weiss put her face in her hands. "Oh gosh, don't even get me started."

"I may have been a little too gung-ho from time to time," said Yang.

"Heh, you?" Ruby laughed. "I'm the one who tried to 1-v-1 a Nevermore on the second day of school."

"Yeah, well," Jaune put in, "I think it's pretty obvious for me."

"Well, that embarrassment," said Ren, "that desire to go back and tell yourself not to be so stupid, that just proves you've grown as a person. You're not the same person you used to be. You're smarter, kinder, or stronger, and your growth hasn't finished yet. None of us are."

Silence for a moment.

"So it turns out Renny boy here gets real deep when he feels like talking," Takashi quipped.

Everyone chuckled, Ren included.

"Well, hold on," Nora chimed in. "I thought I was pretty great in school."

"Even at the dance?" said Yang. "When you drenched yourself in punch right in front of-"

"YES, ESPECIALLY AT THE DANCE!" Nora shouted. "THANK YOU, YANG!"

"Speaking of the dance," said Raylo, "I still remember when we did that dance routine to 'Last Surprise'."

"Oh yeah," said Aris. "We've gotta do that again sometime."

A voice called out from the living room. "How can you kids possibly make this much noise eating dinner?" said Qrow Branwen.

Qrow stood in the entrance to the kitchen with the avocado-eyed boy (whose name was apparently Oscar Pine). "I think we have some explaining to do," said the Branwen. "It's important."
