Bill's trying to stay positive. It's not just for him, but for his family as well. Honestly, he doesn't feel too bad. It's been two days since he's been bitten by Greyback, and his face does twing, but he's trying to stay positive about it because it could be worse.
He could be a real werewolf, for starters.
He feels awful for thinking it because Remus Lupin visits him quite a lot. Bill has a lot of visitors in and out throughout the days, including Remus Lupin. And whenever Bill looks at him, he's reminded about how much worse he could be — which is awful to think in itself, because Remus is a good guy. Bill knows that.
He just doesn't like the idea of being like him.
"You resent me," Remus says, visiting Bill's bedside once again. Bill hesitates before answering, but he thinks that it's an answer all by itself.
"Not resent, exactly," Bill says. Remus nods, his lips tight and his smile weary. His thoughts are racing, because he doesn't want to offend Remus. "It's just… hard," he says, which sounds lame, even to his own ears.
"I've been there, Bill," Remus says, and Bill realizes that he's right. He's probably the only person who Bill can talk to who knows what Bill is going through. "Mine was different, but still." Remus shrugs, and Bill wants to ask more.
Unfortunately, asking would mean admitting that he feels upset about it. He's tried so hard to stay positive so far.
"Does it get better?" Bill finally asks, after a long stretch of silence. Remus looks at Bill, his mouth closed shut, as if he's considering what to say. Bill knows that it's by no means easy for Remus, as a werewolf, but he wonders if at least it'll get better from this point.
And finally, Remus answers, "It did for me."
