I'm sorry if this chapter is a short one I promise the next will be longer.
The day and night fly by. Jane and Maura are both off the next day so they decide to have a little fun out in the backyard. Jane sets up the kiddy pool, water balloons and sprinkler. Maura and Angela take care of setting up the table with food and drinks. "Hey beautiful." Jane says to her wife when she walks back outside. Maura couldnt help but stair at how sexy the tall brunette looked in gym shorts and a black muscle shirt.
"Um eyes up here babe." Jane says grinning at her wife. "What? I'm sorry." Maura says her cheeks turning red. Jane wraps Maura in her arms and says. "Its okay baby I look at you the same way each and everyday." "But dont worry this is only for you." Jane says gesturing at her body. They both laugh. "Jane what am I going to do with you?" The honey blonde says laughing and shaking her head. "Well." Says Jane. "You could get into the pool with me and the kids later." The brunette says wiggling her eyebrows.
"Um I dont know about that." Maura says wiry of her wife. "If I'm getting in it so are you." Jane says scooping up her wife and carrying her over to the little pool. "Oh my god Jane!" "Ah!" "Put me down!" Maura screams out with laughter. Jane steps into the pool. "You really want me to put you down?" The brunette says laughing. "Yes Jane!" "But dont you dare put me down in the pool!" Maura says clarifying what she meant. "I'm going to put you down in the pool just because you said not to." Jane says laughing. "Oh my god Jane!" "No!" Maura yelps.
"Say you will get in the pool with us later or else I'm going to put you down right now." Jane says acting as if shes going to let go which only causes the blonde to latch on tighter. "Ah! Jane do not!" Maura pleads. "Say it!" Jane demands laughing still. "Janie put your wife down, stop torturing her." Angela says making her way outside with Ethan and Harper chuckling. "Nope, no can do Ma!" Jane says looking over her shoulder. "Maur has to agree to get in the pool later with us." "Only then will I put her down." Jane is laughing and so is Maura. "Jane baby please put me down!" Maura begs.
Both kids are laughing at the adults antics. "Okay okay babe I'll get in." Maura finally gives in. "Promise," Jane ask with a big grin. "Yes baby I promise!" Maura replies. Jane smiles triumphantly giving her wife a kiss as she steps out the pool and puts her wife down who can't help but laugh. "Alright kids you heard her right?" Jane ask looking at the kids with a huge smile. Both look and nod Harper giggles. "You guys are funny." The little girl says. Jane couldn't help but chuckle.
The rest of the afternoon is spent with Jane, Maura and Angela chasing kids around the yard, good food, drinks, music and laughter.
Maura makes her way over to Jane and sits sideways on her lap. "This has been a great day sweetheart." Maura says smiling at her wife. "It really has been." "I think we all needed this." Jane says rubbing up and down the blondes tan legs. "I love you Maur." Jane says leaning in for a kiss. "I love you too sweetie." Maura replys back returning the kiss, deeping it more. "Eww!" Harper says laughing at them. "You guys!" The little girl says placing her hand on her hip. Jane and Maura couldn't help but laugh, not being use to a child calling them out.
Jane decides to get up and chase the litte girl and there son some more. Maura just watched and laughed in awe of how cute the sight was of her wife chasing the two kids around making sure Harper felt included rolling around in the grass after letting the kids knock her down. "Oh no they got me!" Jane yells. "Maura you gotta back me up here." Jane says laughing catching there son who threw himself on her. "Nope Jane you are on you're own." Maura says laughing. "I'm going to go get some more drinks babe." Maura yells over to Jane who is still wrestling with the kids.
When Maura enters the kitchen she hears the doorbell. Not sure of who would be ringing the doorbell because no one ever used it. She walks over to the door taking a look threw the peephole before opening the door. She sees and small, dark haired woman with a name badge and briefcase. Maura opens the door to greet the woman. "Hello, how can I help you?" Maura says when opening up the door.
"Hello, my name is Mary Thomas I'm from child services." The small woman says handing Maura her card. "As I'm sure you have realized with me being here that I'm here about Harper". Mary states matter of factly. Maura knew this was going to happen but didn't think it would be this soon. She was at a loss for words for a second. She walks over to the back door. "Jane, honey can you come give me a hand with something?" Maura says not to alarm the kids to what was going on.
"Sure babe, hey Ma can you keep an eye on them for a sec?" Jane ask. "Well of course Janie." Her mother says getting up to go sit with kids who are playing with toys in the yard. "Them kids are going to wear me out." Jane says before turning around. "What's u-." Jane stops mid question when she notices the small woman standing in there kitchen. The woman didn't have to say anything. Being on the force for so long Jane already knew what the woman was there for but it didn't break her heart any less.
