A/N: This is not The Tales of version of Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods or Percy Jackson and the Greek Heroes, but rather The Tales of version of a book I got of Greek and Roman Mythology I got in Rome Italy. The settings will be after 'The Tales of the Heroes of Olympus: The Blood of Olympus' so please read that before getting in this story. Think of this story as something to pass by until The Trials of Apollo books.
Aecus
Before I get to anything about this guy first off, the genealogy of greek mythology is messed up. Not only the gods are related to each other, but heroes can be descendants of multiple gods through more than one ancestor that it's hard to connect the dots. Sometimes demigods ended up with two fathers and one mother or two mothers and one father.
One thing was certain, Aecus was a son of Zeus and although myths claim Peleus was son of Zeus, there are myths saying Peleus is also son of Aecus. Aecus was also son of a Nymph Aegina. He was born on the island of Oenone.
One day Aecus wanted companions because I guess he didn't have many friends, so Zeus changed the numerous ants on the island into human beings. The people were named Myrmidons by Aecus, from the Greek meaning 'ant'. Aecus subsequently married Endeis and fathered Telemon who would later helped Hercules first conquer Troy, and Peleus who fathered Achilles who would fight with the Greeks to take down Troy. In fact, there's a myth saying that Aecus might of foreshadowed Troy's downfall.
It started with the simple fact that he helped Apollo and my dad Poseidon. After the walls were built three serpents climbed up the walls. When two of the serpents approached the section built by the two gods, they died, but the third was able to slide over the section built by Aecus. Apollo interpreted this as forecasting that Troy would be taken twice, first by the son of Aecus—Telemon when he was serving Hercules in a campaign. The second would be taken down by Achiles' son Neoptolemus after his father's tragic end.
But before that first Telemon and Peleus had to be leave their father, and that was due to a loss. Aecus had a son by the Nereid Psamathe Psamathe had turned into a seal to escape from Aecus, but this was to no avail, and the resulting son was called Phocus, which recalled his mother' metamorphosis. The son was exceptionally athletic and this made his two brothers Peleus and Telamon, so envious that they killed him by throwing a discus at his head. When Aecus discovered this he exiled his sons. such integrity resulted in his being chosen out of all Greeks to pray o Zeus at a time when fields were barren as result of Zeus being angry with Pelops for dismembering Stymphalus. Aecus succeeded in placating Zeus.
After his death, Aecus was made judge of the underworld, or so late myths stated. I don't know. The only judge I met was Minos.
Now that we got Aecus out of the way, let's talk about a son of Heracles and the short story of how his dad saved him and his mom.
A/N: Sorry guys, when I decided to get back to this story, i ended up loosing my Dictionary of Classical Mythology and had to wait until I found it. Then when I found it today, I found out I skipped a name when I typed the ending of the last chapter so i had to change that today to match Aecus since The Tales of Percy is less likely to mess up with his myths.
