The crack of thunder startled Drakken out of a sound sleep. A quick glance at the clock told him it was 3 a.m. His parched throat and the empty water glass on his bedside table told him he was going to have to get up anyway.

Grumbling to himself, he grabbed the glass and headed to the kitchen, where the light was already on, and where Shego was seated at the table with a mug in her hands. "Thunder wake you up too?" She shrugged, not quite meeting his eyes.

Drakken began thinking as he refilled his glass with the tap. "You know, Shego, lightning could be incredibly useful as an energy source. What do you think about –"

Thunder roared once again over head, and Shego jumped, sending the tea in her cup sloshing dangerously close to the edge. Drakken frowned and set his own glass down. Shego cleared her throat and said, "Mmhmm, yeah, energy. Go on."

"Are you ok?"

"I'm fine," she snapped. "It was just … loud."

"But Shego –"

"Just stop." She tossed the rest of the tea into the sink and stormed off. Drakken watched her go, wondering. Was Shego afraid of thunder? But they'd had plenty of storms before, particularly in the Caribbean lair. So why –

And then he remembered. The failed Diablo plan. The electrical tower. Shego having an actual heart attack.

He followed her down the hall and paused in front of her door. "Shego?"

"Go away."

"I, well, I would, but, I'm, um, scared."

A pause. "Of?"

"The thunder. It's just, it's really loud and I was wondering if you thought maybe we could have a sleepover."

Shego cracked the door open. "A sleepover? What are we, eight?"

"Please? Just this once."

"Ugh, fine. Your room, though." Shego rolled her eyes and followed him this time back down the hall. He immediately went to make up the couch when Shego stopped him. "Dr. D, your bed is huge."

"Oh, you can have it. I'm –"

"I know you're making it for you. I'm saying we can share."

"Oh. Well. Ok, then." Drakken got back into bed beside Shego and turned out the light. "Right. Goodnight, then."

"Night, Dr. D." Just then, thunder cracked like a whip above them. Beside him, Drakken heard a sharp intake of breath, and then a sound almost like a whimper. He reached out and grabbed her hand. When she went to pull away he said, "You don't mind, do you? I'm scared, remember?"

Slowly, he felt Shego's hand relax in his. Just as he was about to fall asleep again, he heard her whisper, "Thank you, Doc." He muttered a sleepy "You're welcome" before returning to dreams.
