Chapter 42: Cat fight

Yuya could only stare in shock at the spot where Yuto once stood.

"Yuto... I promise to bring Lulu home."

"Yuya."

"Alright, you two are coming with me!"

Yuya and Zuzu turned to find Serena walking towards them, Duel Disks raised. Zuzu gasped in shock.

"You have the same face as me? Are you Lulu?"

"As if. Name's Serena, and you two are coming with us. The Professor wants to have a chat with you."

"As if! You think we'll go along with his twisted plans?"

"You don't have a choice. And to make sure you don't try to make a run for it..."

A duel anchor shot out and wrapped around Zuzu's arm, tying the two duelists together.

"Now neither of us can leave until the duel is over. Win, and you're free to go. But if you lose, you're mine!"

Realizing she didn't have a choice, Zuzu prepared to fight.

"Be careful, Zuzu."

"Don't worry, Yuya, you just get your strength back."

"Enough talk, lets duel!"

DUEL!

Zuzu: 4000

Serena: 4000

"Since I'm the one being held captive, I'll start us off with First Movement Solo to special summon Aria the Melodious Diva! Next, since I have a Melodious Monster on my field, I can special summon Canon the Melodious Diva! I set two cards face down and end my turn."

"Is that the best you can do? Pathetic! I draw! Here's how a real duelist does it. First, I activate Fusion Sage to add Polymerization to my hand, and now I play it! I fuse Lunalight Emerald Bird with Lunalight Kaleido Chick to fusion summon Lunalight Cat Dancer in attack mode!"

Serena's ace monster appeared, swiping her claws at Zuzu's monsters.

"Next, I summon Lunalight Crimson Fox (1800/600)! But don't get used to her, because I can sacrifice her to allow my Cat Dancer to attack each of your monsters twice this turn. And when Crimson Fox goes to the graveyard because of a card effect, one of your monsters loses all of its attack points, and I choose your Cannon."

An apparition of Serena's fox dancer wrapped itself around Cannon, sapping her of all her strength (1400-0). End this duel, Cat Dancer!"

With a prideful pur, Cat Dancer leapt into battle, claws ready to tear Zuzu's monsters apart, but Zuzu came prepared.

"I don't think so! I activate Flash Fusion, allowing me to Fusion summon during the battle phase, so I fuse Aria and Cannon together to summon Schuberta the Melodious Maestra!"

Zuzu's first fusion monster descended in a dazzling spectacle of music. Serena gritted her teeth.

"It doesn't matter, because I activate the effect of Lunalight Purple Butterfly in my hand! I can discard her to give Cat Dancer an extra 1000 attack points (2400-3400)! You might survive this turn, but your monster won't."

But Zuzu was prepared for this as well, and revealed her second face down.

"Don't be so sure about that. I activate Battle Fusion, giving Schuberta attack equal to Cat Dancer's!"

"What (2400-5800)?"

"Blast her Cat Dancer back to the pound, Schuberta!"

With a barrage of musical notes, Cat Dancer exploded into bits, pushing Serena backwards from the shockwaves.

Serena: 1600

Serena gritted her teeth, trying to decide on her next move.

"I activate Purple Butterflie's effect in my graveyard. I can banish her to special summon a Lunalight from my hand, and I choose Lunalight Blue Cat in defense mode. I'll end my turn with a face down, meaning your Schuberta goes to the graveyard."

Zuzu grunted as her monster disappeared in a shower of pixels, but drew her card without further complaint. As she eyed, a question nagged in the back of her mind.

"Why are you doing all of this? What could you possibly have to gain?"

"Believe it or not, we're doing this for your benefit. Duel Academy wants to unite all four dimensions into one utopia under The Professor's control."

"Utopia? How is carding innocents going to create that?"

"Innocents? The Xyzians attacked us first. We tried to work together, but they wanted war, so we gave them what they wanted."

"War? But-"

"Enough! Take your turn already so I can beat you!"

Realizing pushing the situation farther, Zuzu continued her turn.

"Fine. I'll start off with Card of Sanctity, filling our hands once more. Next, I Play Monster Reborn to special summon Schuberta once more! But she won't be around for long, because I activate Polymerization to fuse her with Soprano to fusion summon Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir (1900/2000)!"

Zuzu's new fusion monster burst out with a small curtsy.

"And she gains 300 attack points for each fusion material I used (1900-28000). Bloom Prima, take out her Blue Cat!"

With a kick of her high heels, Bloom Prima took out the cat girl with ease, but Serena would not be disuaded.

"I can still win this!"

"You could, if it wasn't for the fact that Bloom Prima can attack twice per turn."

"What?"

Before Serena could even react, a wave of music sent her flying ending the duel.

Serena: 0000

Zuzu wins!

Grunting, Serena pulled sat up to find Zuzu leaning down to offer her hand to her.

"Good game."

Snarling, Serena slapped it away before she pulled herself all the way up.

"You may have won this time, but I'll get you one way or another."

"Serena, wait!"

But Serena was already gone, vanishing back to her own dimension, leaving Yuya and Zuzu to contemplate what she had said.

"You!"

Yuya and Zuzu turned to see Shay running towards them.

"What did you do to Yuto?"

"Huh?"

"I saw the entire duel from Declan's office. I know you did something to him, where is he?"
