It was now the next morning and Anna's parents had finished packing their things. "Sweetie are you ready to go?" Anna's mother asked.
"Yes… I'm ready…" Anna said in a weak tone.
"Look, sweetie, I know that this is hard for you but one day you'll see that we made the right decision." Miss Kozuki said to her daughter.
As the family was about to get in the car, they heard a voice that was familiar to the daughter of the family, very familiar in fact.
"Anna! I'm here! So you don't have to go anywhere!" Yuma said as he arrived in front of the Kozuki residence while breathing heavily from running.
"Yuma?! How did you get here?! I never told you where I live so how?! And why?! Why did you come here?!" Anna screamed out.
"You can thank me for finding out where you live. It's not hard when you have as many furry friends as I have." Cathy said as she came up behind Yuma while petting her favorite cat. Kotori was standing alongside her.
"Figures that it was you… wait, Kotori you told Yuma, didn't you?! I told you NOT to tell him for a reason dammit!" Anna said in annoyance.
"I'm sorry Anna… I thought that since it was the last day, he deserved to know." Kotori replied.
"Anna, you don't wanna leave right?! Then stay here! None of us here wanna see you leave!" Yuma shouted out.
"Idiot… it's not my call. I don't have a choice. Do you think that I want to leave!? Hell no! But it's not my decision to make! That's why I didn't want you to know about this! I didn't want you to do something stupid and get yourself in trouble! Just go away!" Anna said as best as she could while holding back tears.
"I don't give a damn how much trouble I get in! I'm not letting you be taken away against your will! Don't you remember our conversation at the beach yesterday?! All of us can only accomplish our dreams together! Without you at my side, I'll never become the best duelist ever! And I know the same is true for you two as well right?!" Yuma said as he turned his attention to Cathy and Kotori.
"Yuma's exactly right! We all love you Anna and we can't go without you!" Kotori shouted out.
"Anna, you really are an idiot if you thought that we, especially Yuma, were just gonna sit by and let you be taken away from us," Cathy commented.
"You guys… thank you…" the red-haired girl said as she started to cry tears of happiness from their kind words.
"Now listen up, Anna's parents! I'm not letting you take her away, no matter what!" Yuma shouted out with enthusiasm.
"That really was a touching speech but I'm afraid that we've made our decisions already. But if you really insist on getting in our way then I guess we might have to call your parents" The father said, reaching for his phone. But his wife put her hand over his, stopping him. "Dear?"
"I heard them say your name was Yuma, right?" She asked, her eyes fixed on the boy.
"Uh, yeah?" Yuma said. "But what has that to do with this, apart from me being the boyfriend of your daughter?"
"Nothing." She let her hand down, then reached for one of the boxes, speaking whilst she dug through it. "But what I am interested in is the fact that you were the winner at the last Heartland Tournament."
Her husband was silent, but then saw what she got and put his phone down, sighting. "Hey, boy?"
"Y-yes?" Yuma said, nervous that Anna's parents are suddenly talking to him.
"Be careful" His wife stood back up, but this time she had a duel disk and D-gazer on her, and a strange smile on her lips which Anna never saw before.
"M-mom?"
"How about this, boy?" She set her deck. "A duel. You win, Anna stays, you lose, she leaves." She said, her eyes fixed on Yuma.
"What?" He asked, confused. "Wait a minute, miss. You duel?"
"Oh, sweetie, of course, I do!" She replied cheerfully. "I used to a lot in my younger days, but I long since retired."
"Retired?" Yuma echoed.
"Dad?" Anna asked, looking at her father who looked somewhat distressed. "What is Mom on about?"
"An old secret of ours, mainly how I met your mother..." He replied.
"What?"
"I accept!" Yuma said, not thinking any longer. "If it means Anna gets to stay then so be it!" He got his Duel Disk and D-gazer ready.
"Wonderful." She said, her eyes fixed on him. "Then let's begin."

"How about you take the first turn, dear." She offered.
"Very well," Yuma said, looking at his cards. He had a good opening if he went second, but for now, he has to hope he will survive. "My turn! I draw!" Yuma drew his card and began his defensive. "I summon Gogogo Golem!" A big monster made of rock with blue-colored arms and legs and green-colored body seemingly made of brick with a slight opening on its head where one red eye can be seen appeared; 1800/1500, Level 4, Rock, EARTH.
"Oh?" Mrs. Kozuki mussed seeing the monster. If she remembered correctly, it was a better defense position one so why summon it in attack mode?
"I set 2 cards face-down, ending my turn!" Yuma declared.
"Not a bad start, putting a decent monster on the field. Although, I am confused as to why you put it in attack mode, its effect making it better in defense." She noted. "Oh well, I guess I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up." She placed her hand on her deck. "My turn! I draw!" She drew her card then giggled. "I summon Madolche Mewfeulline." A little magenta cat wearing a purple jacket appeared, looking somewhat sleepy; 500/300, Level 3, Beast, EARTH.
"Then the effect of my little sweet kitty activates." She continued. "I can special summon one Madolche monster from my hand. Come, Madolche Messengelato." A monster resembling a boy with blue hair with a bag of mail appeared on the field; 1600/1000, Level 4, Warrior, EARTH. "Due to its effect, upon being special summoned, I can add one Madolche Spell or Trap Card from my deck to my hand." She grabbed a card from her deck. "I choose Madolche Saloon which I now activate!"
"I am allowed to normal summon or set a monster once again during each turn."
"2 summons a turn?" Yuma gasped.
"I summon Madolche Cruffssant!" A little doggy with brown and white fur wearing a little hat and a bell around its neck appeared on the field; 1500/1200, Level 3, Beast, EARTH.
"Those cards! Those are…" Anna said as she remembered those specific cards from her childhood days.
"That's right, sweetie. We told you at the time that they were just cards that were collected for fun. But the truth is that they were the deck that your mother used in her days as a top duelist in Heartland. We were planning on having you inherit them if you ever decided to become a real duelist, but instead, you got those machine cards from Umimi…" Anna's father stated.
"I use Cruffssant's effect! I return my little sweet kitten to my hand to increase this monster's attack by 300 and level by 1." She stated as her cat monster vanished, and her dog let out a bark. 1500-1800. 3-4. "Now, I overlay my 2 Level 4 monsters!" The overlay network appeared, the 2 monsters turning into streams of light that went in it. "With those 2 monsters, I built the overlay network! Xyz Summon! Come, sweet ruler of the land, Madolche Queen Tiaramisu!"
An xyz monster, female in appearance, wearing a brown royal outfit with silver-blonde hair, a tiara on her head, scepter in her hand, and throne to sit upon, appeared on the field; 2200/2100, Rank 4, Fairy, EARTH, OU: 2. "Battle! Queen Tiaramisu attacks Gogogo Golem!" Her monster giggled and put her scepter up, a mass of whipped cream gathering, then she threw it at Yuma's monster.
"I activate the trap card, Desert Sunlight! All my attack position monsters are switched to defense!" Gogogo Golem put his hands up, catching the cream. "This means Gogogo Golem's effect applies, making him unable to be destroyed by battle once per turn."
Mrs. Kozuki giggled. "I am aware. I knew someone who won the tournament couldn't make such a mistake." she looked at him. "I activate the quick-play spell, Madolche Urgent Order! I can detach one overlay unit from my Madolche xyz monster to attack again!"
"What?" Yuma gasped, but then Tiaramisu conjured a mass of cream again, throwing it at Gogogo Golem and burying the monster in it, disappearing soon after. "I activate my other trap! Guard Go! Since a Gogogo monster was destroyed, I can special summon that monster along with 2 other Gagaga, Dododo, or Gogogo monsters from my hand. I choose to summon Gagaga magician and Gogogo Aristera and Dexia!"
A humanoid monster dressed in black clothing with a pointy hat, his face covered with only his eyes visible and chains all around him appeared; 1500/1000, Level 4, Spellcaster, DARK.
"Huh?" She looked around, not spotting the other monster. "Where is the other monster?" She asked, but Yuma simply smiled.
"Oh, it's here, alright." The earth cracked under them and 2 massive rock arms emerged; 0/2200, Level 4, Rock, EARTH.
"Oh, I see. No matter, however. I end my Battle Phase, then the effect of Urgent Order requires me to send one Madolche monster from my deck to the grave." She took a card from her grave, putting it into her grave. "I end my turn here with 2 face-down cards.." She said.
"My turn! Draw!" Yuma drew his card, sitting at 2 cards in his hand. "I need more cards... " He muttered, then saw the other card in his hand. "This works. I activate the spell card, Dododo Draw! I send one Dododo monster from my hand to the graveyard in order to draw 2 cards!" Yuma drew his cards, then a childish smile appeared on his face. "I overlay Gogogo Golem, and Aristera and Dexia!" Yuma said, the 2 monsters turning into streams of light that went into a galaxy-like portal that appeared on the field. "Come out! Zubaba General!"
An imposing monster wearing white armor with his face covered by a helmet with a red cape, and a giant black sword appeared on the field; 2000/1000, Rank 4, Warrior, EARTH, OU: 2.
"Oh?" Mrs. Kozuki mused. "So you finally decide to Xyz summon? Too bad it won't help you much since it doesn't have too much attack."
"Or so you think," Yuma said, making her eyes narrow. "Since I summoned him using only Gogogo monsters, the effect of Aristera and Dexia applies! Since Zubaba General was Xyz summoned, I can target one monster on the field, change it to defense position, and reduce its defense to 0!"
"What?" Mrs. Kozuki said as her monster was grabbed by 2 arms which sprung from the ground, grabbing her and holding her arms, keeping her to her throne. 2100-0. "Either way, since she is now in defense position, I do not take damage!"
"That's what you may think, but I use Zubaba General's effect! I detach one overlay unit to equip one Warrior type monster from my hand to it as an equip card, then he gains attack equal to its original attack! I equip Dododo Warrior!" Zubaba General put its sword up, a unit flying into it, then the image of Dododo Warrior reflecting into the blade, the monster then putting his blade forth as its attack rose; 2000-4300.
"4300 attack points?!" Mrs. Kozuki gasped. This kid certainly had talent, being able to get such a monster out.
"I attack Queen Tiaramisu using Zubaba General!"
"Why? If you use Gagaga Magician first, you can attack me directly with Zubaba General to erase all my Life Points!" She noted.
"I activate the quick-play spell, Onomatopic Rush!" Zubaba General's sword gained a golden glow. "Since my Xyz monster is attacking a defense position monster, it deals piercing damage!"
"Piercing?" She echoed, but then regained her composure. "You almost had me…" Yuma widened his eyes in surprise. "Double Trap, open! Madolche Waltz and Madolche Royal Guard! Due to Royal Guard's effect, if my Madolche Xyz monster is to be destroyed in battle this turn, it is not destroyed, and I take no damage!"
Zubaba's sword went down on Tiaramisu, but it was blocked in the last second by 2 biscuits compensating as shields. "Then the effect of Waltz kicks in! Each time a Madolche is attacked or attack, you take 300 points of damage!" A lump of chocolate got launched from the card, hitting Yuma in the face.
Yuma: LP: 4000-3700.
"Damn it!" Yuma cursed as he whipped the chocolate. "Attacking with Gagaga Magician would be useless as well...I end my turn!"
Mrs. Kozuki giggled. "That was not that bad. I can definitely see why you won the tournament. But I won't be nice anymore. I draw!" She drew her card, then looked over her options. It was time for the final dance. "I switch my monster to attack and activate her effect! I detach one overlay unit in order to shuffle up to 2 Madolche cards from my grave into my deck then return the same number of cards from your field to the deck!"
"What?!" Yuma gaped.
"If that happens, then Yuma will be wide open!" Kotori exclaimed.
Tiramisu put her scepter up, the overlay unit going in it and disappearing. "I return the monsters used for her summon to my deck, then I will get rid of your-"
"Not so fast!" Yuma said, cutting her off. "I activate the effect of Dododo Scouter in my grave!"
"Dododo? I see, so you send it to the grave using Dododo Draw last turn." She noted.
"You can bet I did! Now, by banishing this card from my graveyard when my opponent activates an effect that targets monsters on my field, my monsters cannot be targeted by card effect until the End Phase, then I draw 1 card for each Xyz monster on the field!" Yuma stated, drawing 2 cards.
"Oh? Not bad. The effect of Saloon activates, however, since Madolche cards returned to my deck. I can set a Madolche Spell or Trap straight from my deck onto my field. I choose this one, Madolche Promenade." a trap briefly appeared on the field before going face-down. "Battle! Tiaramisu attacks Gagaga Magician!"
Her monster put her staff up once again, then Gagaga Magician shared the fate of Gogogo Golem. " The effect of Waltz deals you another 300 points of damage!" Another blast from the card hit Yuma. "I end my turn with a face-down."
Yuma: LP: 3400.
"My turn! Draw!" Yuma said. "Nice! I summon Gagaga Sister!" A little female monster looking like a small girl dressed in a pink outfit with a key in her hand appeared on the field; 200/800, Level 2, Spellcaster, DARK. "Due to her nifty effect, I can add one Gagaga spell or trap to my hand! I add Gagaga Call to my hand and activate it! Due to its effect, I can normal summon one Gagaga monster in addition to my Normal Summon for the turn, but for the rest of the turn after this effect is used I cannot special summon anything, except Gagaga monsters.." Yuma stated. "I summon Gagaga head!"
A monster resembling a man with dark skin wearing a blue cape with chains around its waist and the Gagaga symbol on its belt appeared; 2100/2000, Level 6, Spellcaster, DARK. "When you control a monster, I can normal summon him without tribute, bit he becomes a level 4 monster." 6-4. "Next, since I Normal summoned him, I can special summon up to 2 Gagaga monsters from my graveyard! Come, Gagaga Magician!" Yuma's monster returned to the field beside Zubaba General.
"Yuma really is amazing to be able to summon all these monsters in one turn. I'm not surprised though. He is the one that defeated Astral after all." Cathy remarked.
"Hmm. Not a bad field." Mrs. Kozuki said. "Unfortunately, it seems you have burned your resources quite fast. You only hold one card in your hand." She pointed out.
"This one card is all I need!" Yuma declared. "I activate the effect of Gagaga Sister! I target Gagaga head and make hers and his level the combined sum of the two! That's 6! So both my monsters become level 6!" 4-6, 2-6. "Furthermore, I use Gagaga Magician's effect! I change his level to 6 as well!"
"Three Level 6 monsters?" Mrs. Kozuki muttered looking at the field.
"I overlay my 3 Level 6 monsters!" Yuma declared as his 3 monsters turned into streams of light that went into the overlay network. "Come forth, Gagagaga Headmaster!" The portal exploded and a new monster revealed itself.
This one looked a lot like Gagaga Head, but its clothing was now black with golden details and the Gagaga symbol was not resting tied to a chain around his neck like a necklace. The chains which had previously decorated its body also moved to its left arm, coiling around it and hanging by it until they touched the ground; 2900/2300, Rank 6, Warrior, EARTH, OU: 3
"Wow! So that's Yuma's new monster. He just keeps getting stronger and stronger, even without Astral and the numbers!" Kotori said with enthusiasm.
"Yuma just keeps improving himself… yet here I am being completely useless and needing to be saved… I can't stand It! I hate being the damsel in distress! I need to become stronger!" Anna thought to herself with hatred at her own powerlessness. But at the same time with newfound determination.
"Oh?" Mrs. Kozuki mused seeing Yuma's monster. "That's impressive."
"I activate Gagaga Headmaster's effect! Once per turn, I can target one other Xyz monster I control, return it to the Extra Deck, then summon one Gagaga Xyz monster with the same Rank from my Extra Deck and transfer the overlay units the previous monster had to it!" Yuma explained, and for the first time, Mrs. Kozuki looked surprised. "I send Zubaba General back to my Extra Deck in order to summon Gagaga Samurai!"
A new monster appeared, this one resembling a man wearing samurai clothing with a black glove on one hand and an orange scarf covering its mouth whilst holding 2 katana in its hands; 1900/1600, Rank 4, Warrior, EARTH, OU: 1. "However, I cannot target the monster summoned by this effect with any of Headmaster's effects for as long as it is on the field," Yuma said.
"I see. If that wasn't the case, then you could've switched out monsters each turn." Mrs. Kozuki said.
"But I can still win this! I activate the spell card, Gagagaga Draw!" Yuma played his other Gagaga card, both his Xyz monsters glowing along with Mrs. Kozuki's monster. "When I control 2 or more Gagaga Xyz monsters, I can draw one card from my deck for each Xyz monster on the field! Then, I must send one card from my deck to the graveyard for each Xyz monster my opponent controls." Yuma said as he drew 3 new cards, then send one from his deck to his graveyard. "Let's win this."
"I activate Samurai's effect! I detach one overlay unit in order to have Headmaster attack twice this Battle Phase!" Samurai sliced its overlay unit, the glow shining bright on Headmaster. "Furthermore, I use Headmaster's effect! I detach one overlay unit to have all spell and traps currently face-up on your field lose their effects!" Headmaster swung his chains, a gust of wind going forth as Mrs. Kozuki's cards went gray.
"Battle! I attack Tiaramisu using Headmaster!" Yuma declared.
"Not so fast boy! I activate my face-down, Madolche Promenade! Due to its effect, I target Headmaster and Tiaramisu, then your monster's effects get negated and my monster is returned to the Extra Deck!"
"What?!" Yuma gasped as Tiaramisu vanished and Headmaster lost its glow. "No matter! I attack directly!"
"I activate the effect of Madolche Cararouge in my graveyard! If a Madolche Xyz monster is returned to my Extra Deck and I control no monsters, I can use this along with one Madolche in my hand to Xyz summon that monster again!"
"What?" Yuma gasped once again, but this time for good reason. She was Xyz summoning a monster using monsters which 1. Did not have the same level. 2. Were not on her field. And 3. During the Battle Phase.
"I overlay Cararogue with Mewfeuille in my hand to summon Queen Tiaramisu again!" Mrs. Kozuki's ace returned to the field. "Furthermore, the monster summoned using Cararogue cannot be destroyed by battle!" Headmaster clashed with Tiaramisu, but the queen held strong.
"You still take damage," Yuma pointed out. "
Mrs. Kozuki: LP: 3300.
"Only 700 points of damage is nothing." She muttered, then set her gaze upon Yuma.
"I can still attack! Headmaster attacks Queen once again!" Yuma declared, then his monster went forth once more.
"I activate the effect of Madolche Royal Guard in my graveyard! By banishing this card when my Madolche Xyz monster is attacked I can negate the attack!" biscuits formed in front of Headmaster, blocking him. "Furthermore, my opponent takes damage equal to the attacking monster's attack points." She said with a smirk.
"What?" Yuma gasped as the shock went towards him, knocking him down.
Yuma: LP: 500.
"I am not done yet…" Yuma said as he got up, Mrs. Kozuki giggling.
"I must admit, you are not bad. You are amazing if anything. But that is not enough to defeat me, boy." She pointed at her last face-down. "I activate my last trap, Madolche Night of the Ball! Due to its effect, I can Special Summon Madolche Puddingcess from my deck!"
A new monster resembling a young girl with a dress decorated like a cake with curly blond hair appeared on the field; 1000/1000, Level 5, Fairy, EARTH. "Furthermore, I then use her and Tiaramisu to Xyz summon!"
"What?" Yuma gasped again. Not once, but twice has this lady Xyz summoned basically ignoring the normal method.
"I overlay Queen Tiaramisu and Puddingcess!" Her 2 monsters turned into streams of light that went into the overlay network. "Descend from your room, for tonight it is the night of the ball." Mrs. Kozuki chanted. "Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode!"
The summoned Xyz looked like the previous Puddingcess, except she was now dressed in a dress which resembled a chocolate cake; 2500/2200, Rank 5, Fairy, EARTH, OU: 2. "Finally, when the monster is summoned successfully, due to my trap it gains a permanent 500 points of attack and defense!" 2500/2200-3000/2700.
"This is bad! Yuma's in trouble!" Kotori shouted.
"Don't worry. Yuma has been through far worse. This is nothing for him." Cathy said while trying to reassure her fellow girlfriend that everything would be ok.
"Yeah… your right! You got this Yuma!" Kotori cheered.
"Mom is really strong… I had no idea she was this good. She might even be stronger than Umimi… but I know that Yuma won't lose!" Anna thought to herself as she continued to stand next to her father.
"3000 attack…" Yuma muttered as he got up, but then looked forth. The fire in his eyes was not gone yet, no...It was shining brighter than ever. "Gonna bring it to 'em!" Yuma shouted as he jumped back to his feet. "Since my opponent special summoned a monster during the Battle Phase, I can activate this card from my hand! The trap, Gagaga Brawl! Due to its effect, my Gagaga monsters become unaffected by effects other than their own for the rest of the turn, meaning that Headmaster recovers his effects!" Yuma's monster gave a loud shout as his color returned along with its effects. "Furthermore, if this trap was activated in the hand this turn, I can banish from the graveyard during the same turn it was sent there to activate its second effect! I tribute Samurai and add its attack points to Headmaster!" Yuma said as Samurai vanished, but left behind its blades which were grabbed by Headmaster. 2900-3800.
"3800 attack points?" Mrs. Kozuki muttered, but she didn't understand. "Why raise its attack and restore its effects if it cannot attack anymore?" She asked.
"Due to Brawl, Headmaster gained another attack!" Yuma said, making Mrs. Kozuki widen her eyes in surprise. "Go! Attack Puddingcess!" Headmaster rushed forth at Puddingcess, his blades ready.
"I didn't want to use such a low trick, but I have no choice. I use the second effect of Cararogue, shuffling it into my deck during the Battle Phase to draw 1 card!" She said, drawing one card. "Then Puddingcess' effect triggers when a Madolche is shuffled back, summoning another one from my deck either in face-up attack or face-down defense! I summon Madolche Chouxvalier!"
A monster resembling a young man on a horse with a sword made of candy appeared on the field in attack position; 1700/1300, Level 4, Warrior, EARTH. "Due to its effect, you can only attack Chouxvalier!" Mrs. Kozuki said, but Yuma smirked.
"Sorry to burst your bubble, but this is my victory! I activate the last effect of Headmaster! When my opponent Special Summons a monster during the Battle Phase, I can detach one overlay unit to send that monster to the graveyard!" Yuma said as headmaster took an overlay unit and threw it at the Madolche monster, sending it away.
"Tch. When a Madolche is destroyed, I can shuffle them back into my deck." She said.
"Sorry to say, but you messed up. The second part of Headmaster's effect makes it so he gains that monster's attack during the Damage Step only this turn!" 3800-5500.
"It has 5500 attack points?!" She gasped in shock.
"It's so strong!" Kotori pointed out.
"Good job Yuma! This duel is all yours!" Cathy shouted out.
"I activate the quick-play spell card, Gagaga Bindings!" Yuma said as 2 chains wrapped around Puddingcess. "I detach Headmaster's last overlay unit to cut your monster's attack in half!" 3000-1500
"He did it!" Anna cheered.
"I can't believe it, this kid actually beat her?!" Anna's father said in shock.
"Headmaster!" Yuma clenched his fist. "RISING SUN SLASH!" Headmaster jumped upwards into the sky, the swords from Samurai shining in the light of the sun. He spread his arms, swords in hand, and everyone watched in awe as the sun seemingly shined on the monster. Then, right there, for a moment, the image of Utopia appeared before Headmaster dived down at Puddingcess, the monster coming down with a twin slash that destroyed Mrs. Kozuki's monster.
"I...lost?" She asked as her life points dropped to 0.
"Yuma, you won!" Both Kotori and Cathy said in unison as they ran over and the boy.
"That he did." Anna's mother said with a smile. "I must say, I haven't had such a duel in years, let alone lose. I never expected a trap from the hand or such an Xyz monster. You truly are a special one, boy."
"I never saw you get so excited in years, either" Anna's father added. "But a deal is a deal. Our daughter may stay with you, Yuma."
"Anna, did you hear that?! You get to stay with us after all!" Kotori said as the 3 children then ran towards Anna and group-hugged her.
"Hmph, i-its not like I was worried or anything you know! I always knew Yuma would never lose! So don't expect me to be surprised or anything!" Anna said in a typical Tsundere fashion as she pouted and tried not to show her true feelings.
"Sure you do, honey. Sure you do." Her mother said in a subtle way. "Anyway, we have to go. If you guys want her to stay, then you better help her get her stuff from the car."
"Of course. Thank you, Miss Anna's mother!" Yuma said.
"Your welcome Yuma but I have a name. It's Blake. My husband here is Ren." She introduced themselves. "Anyway, if my daughter is to be staying with you, I do have one question. Who is she going to live with?"
"It's alright." Anna replied quickly."Cathy here actually lives in a mansion by herself, so I can crash at her place since the place is kinda massive."
