TheDemon1911 : Ship them? Maybe, maybe not. Besides, who says you can't ship two super powerful together after they try to kill each other?
theaceoffire : I don't know about original mythology but in the marvel universe Hela is pretty much just a really powerful necromancer, so not really death even if she says that she is the goddess of it. Though what you have just done is given me an omake idea.
Joe Lawyer : Yeah well when you're an immortal in a room full of people who aren't and they act like they are then you're going to put them straight.
Chapter 35 -
"Master of Death?" Odin asked in a disbelieving tone, it was impossible, there was no way this Midgardian could be the master of death.
"That's the title I have," Harry nodded. "death will not touch me. When you are all dust, I will be standing, so trust an actual immortal when he says that all life is important. A single mortal could end up advancing medicine to the point where he'd be able to help save millions of lives, a single mortal can also destroy everything. I saw an entire world ruined by a single mortal, do not underestimate anyone because you believe you can outlive them."
"Have care how you speak," Odin warned. "or we will test the limits of your mortality very soon."
"Oh yeah?" Harry raised an eyebrow as his wand appeared in his hand. "Let's try that out if you are so confident, you wouldn't be the first person I've met who believed themselves immortal and unable to be killed. I took great pleasure in proving him wrong." Harry said, his green eyes flaring.
Odin was about to respond when suddenly he heard a growl, one that wasn't coming from the wizard. He looked down and saw that standing next to the wizard was a black dog, the wizard was holding it by his neck. Odin took a step back before he even realized that he had, the dog looked like a much smaller version of Fenrir, surely that's just a coincidence. The Einherjar, Odin's guards, raised their weapons, ready to defend their king.
"Wait!" Thor quickly spoke up before everyone could start fighting. "Stand down," He ordered the Einherjar, "they are my friends and warriors who have fought alongside me in battle, you will not harm them." He said, his tone indicating to the guards that they would be much better off if they listened to him. The guards looked unsure about what they should do, on the one hand Thor was their prince but on the other hand the wizard and his dog was threatening Odin, who was their king.
Odin, after a few tense moments of silence gestured them to stand down, Padfoot relaxed once the guards no longer had their weapons aimed at his master. Padfoot temporarily forgot about Odin and walked over to Thor and Jane.
"Oh hi." Jane whispered to Padfoot who paused to nod at her before moving towards Thor.
"Hello Padfoot," Thor smiled as Padfoot rubbed his head against Thor's leg, Thor reached a hand down and gently stroked Padfoot behind the ear. "I have missed you too." Thor said, Padfoot barked happily in response.
"I have had enough of this," Odin said as he shook his head. "guards, take these Midgardians away and send them back to where they came from." Odin ordered. Harry's wand tip glowed red just as Padfoot began growling again.
"No Father, I..." Thor paused when one of the guards went to grab Jane. "no I wouldn't..." A red blast shot out from her body throwing everyone back apart from Thor, Odin and Harry and Padfoot. "Touch her." Thor softly finished, he decided to ignore the healers and guards who were standing up after the blast and went to Jane. "Are you alright?" He asked in a concerned voice. Jane didn't respond, at least not verbally, she just gave him a soft moan and kept her eyes closed, the red stuff had made her very tired.
Odin walked up to her and waved his hand over her body, apparently scanning her to see what the red blast was. When Odin's hand hovered over her arm everyone could see the red energy that was travelling through her arm.
"That's impossible." Odin said in a quiet and disbelieving voice.
"The infection, it's...it's defending her." The head healer said with disbelief and surprise.
"It's defending itself." Thor said.
"Which is why it is defending her," Harry realized. "it's killing her but it's also protecting her, it reacts to other people but it doesn't react to you, Thor."
"What does that mean?" Thor asked.
"My best guess is that it means it's a parasite, it's using her body until it can no longer use it, then it will either die out or skip to another body, probably the second one."
"Come with me." Odin said suddenly.
Odin took Jane, Thor and Harry to a room where the first thing they would've noticed was the rather magnificent and large tree.
"Wow." Harry breathed out as he looked at it, he could see what looked like portals on each branch. He could tell that this was no ordinary tree without even looking at it, he could feel the magic surging through it just like a lot of things in Asgard. "What the hell is that?" Harry said Thor as he gestured to the tree, Jane also looked interested and gave Thor her full attention.
"It is a representation of Yggdrasil, the World Tree," Thor answered "your world is one of the Nine Realms of the Cosmos, linked to each other by the branches of Yggdrasil. There are nine realms, one of them is Midgard which is Earth, there are a few others including Asgard where we currently are now."
"You can have a tour later," Odin interrupted before anyone could reply, the group followed him into another room, that was far less impressive looking than the previous one. "now, there are relics that predate the universe itself, what lies within her appears to be one of them. The nine realms are not eternal, they have a dawn, just as they will have a dusk." Odin spoke as he pulled out a large book and opened it while the others gathered around. "Before that dawn the dark elves reigned absolute and unchallenged."
"Dark elves?" Harry asked as he briefly had a mental image of an evil Dobby pass through his head. "What do they look like?"
"They are as tall as any man," Odin answered as he gestured to a picture of them on the books. "they have a shape like any man but with longer ears. Make no mistake, they were powerful beings when they were alive." Odin finished, Harry looked at the pictures, and saw the elves were covered in black apart from their long eared heads which were a very pale white.
"'Born of eternal night, the dark elves come to steal the light'." Thor read from the book. "I know these stories, mother told us them when we were children." He said with a fond smile, remembering simple times.
"Their leader, Malekith, made a weapon out of the darkness and it was called the Aether." Odin continued speaking. "While other relics often appeared in the form of stones, the Aether is fluid and ever changing. It changes matter into dark matter, it seeks out hosts and it draws strength from their life force. Malekith sought to use the Aether's power to return the universe to one of darkness. But, after eternities of bloodshed and horrors, my father Bor finally triumphed against the dark elves, ushering in a peace that lasted thousands of years." Odin finished, saying the last part with a hint of pride in his voice.
"What happened?" Jane asked.
"He killed them all." Odin said simply.
"Are you certain?" Thor asked his father. "The Aether was said to be destroyed, yet here it is."
"It certainly does seems possible for them to be alive," Harry said with a thoughtful look, remembering his own experiences with dead men. As far as Harry was concerned, if there's no dead body then that person should be considered alive until proven otherwise. "it's possible these elves went to hiding, those that did would either be enough for an army or they would breed and increase their numbers."
"The dark elves are dead." Odin said in a tone that clearly stated the conversation was over.
"Are they though?" Harry tilted his head slightly, unfortunately for Odin Harry was probably the only person more suborn than he is. "I mean I came from a world where humans had believed that all the witches and wizards had died out, yet we had an entire country full of them hiding in the same area as them. Most of the time we hid in plain sight as well. I assume that these dark elves have a similar life span to Asgardians, I mean it's possible that they could have gone into hiding, isn't it? So shouldn't you take the necessary steps to make sure that they are not still alive?"
"They are dead," Odin repeated with a slight growl in his voice. "I will not be questioned on this matter by you, wizard."
"Sorry to interrupt but does your book mention anyway to get it out of me?" Jane asked in a hopeful voice. Odin looked at her for all of a second before he replied.
"No, it does not." Odin replied before walking off, he didn't sound too bothered by the fact that Jane could die.
"Thor." Harry spoke up.
"Yes?" Thor asked.
"This may be hypocritical but your dad's a dick."
Harry found himself sitting with Padfoot in a room that Thor had provided for him, everything looked all fancy and rich, like the sort of room one would find in a castle from a fairy book. Despite this Harry knew that this was definitely not one of the better rooms in this place. Thor had left him here before he went to escort Jane away to her room, Harry didn't really know if Thor was going to leave her alone in her room but decided to not think about it as that wasn't really any of his business.
Apparently he would be staying here until he went back to Earth, which could be later today or tomorrow or even a week from now. Going to a planet apart from Earth was a new experience for him, sure he had travelled from another world but that was going from one Earth to another Earth, Asgard was another planet.
"Our lives are never boring." Harry commented to Padfoot who chuckled in response.
"Woof." Padfoot barked.
"Yeah," Harry nodded as he stood up. "I'm sure Thor wouldn't mind if we took a look around." Padfoot happily barked and followed Harry to the door, Harry opened it but before he could take a step outside he came face to face with someone, a pretty woman with black hair that descended down to her shoulders and hazel green eyes.
He recognized her, she was one of Thor's friends, her name was 'Sif' if Harry remembered right. She wore armour like before but this was different from the previous armour she had worn when fighting the Destroyer. She wore a red leather dress that continued down her torso ending in a multi-paneled mini-skirt. Over her dress, she wore silver armor plates that ended right above her cleavage. She also wore black pants under her dress and brown knee-high boots decorated with silver metal which matched her armor.
"Um...hi." Harry said awkwardly. "I don't suppose that you are room service." He added jokingly
"No," Sif shook her head. "I am Lady Sif."
"I know," Harry nodded. "we fought together against the Destroyer."
"Yes," She nodded, pleased that he remembered. "the last time I saw you, you were wearing armour and your face was covered. Thor speaks fondly about you and the 'Avengers.'"
"Yeah, he's one of the founding members." Harry replied.
"Yes, he mentioned how you seemed reluctant to join." She said in a soft voice. "He also spoke about how you, he and others Avengers fought against Loki and the Chitauri army on Midgard. It sounded like an impressive battle."
"It was." Harry nodded.
"I would've liked to fight in such a battle." Sif said, more to herself.
"I probably would have enjoyed it more if there wasn't all the innocent civilians around us." Harry commented.
"Yes, a warrior's first duty must be to protect those who cannot fight." Sif said in an approving voice.
"Woof." Padfoot barked in agreement.
"Hello," Sif blinked in surprise but quickly recovered. "and this must be Padfoot, correct?" She asked.
"Yes, this is Padfoot. Out of curiosity, what did Thor say about him?" Harry asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Only that he was a loyal and fierce companion who fought alongside you." Sif answered, she heard Padfoot barked and saw him suddenly sit while thrusting his chest as far out as possible while raising his head.
"Great," Harry rolled his eyes. "he's got an ego now. Did Thor happen to say anything about the rest of us?" Harry asked.
"Yes," Sif nodded. "he did. He said that the one called Barton was an expert marksman who would impress even the best of Asgard, he mentioned a gentle but intelligent man called Banner who was capable of turning into a powerful green giant called the Hulk. Then there was also the soldier named 'Roger's' I believe, Thor was very complimentary about him. Thor also mentioned a Midgardian called Stark who invented a very powerful and destructive suit of armour. Then there was the only female on the team."
"Natasha." Harry supplied her name.
"Thor said she was a very competent warrior, he also mentioned that people referred to her as 'Black Widow'." Sif replied.
"It's her code name, we all have second names, well apart from Thor. Barton is called Hawkeye, Stark is Iron Man, Rogers is Captain America."
"Hmm, and yours is Grim." She noted. "But your real name is...'Harry'?" She asked, hoping she got it right.
"Yeah," Harry nodded. "what did Thor say about me?"
"He said you are a very dangerous wizard, and a great ally." Sif answered honestly.
"Did he tell you about me and Loki?" Harry asked.
"Yes he did," Sif answered in a soft voice. "he did mention how you wanted to kill him. I do not believe that he has told the Allfather or Queen Frigga about that, but he has told me and the Warrior's Three. If it means anything to you then I understand why you wanted to end Loki, I probably would have suggested something similar."
"Thanks...I suppose. I don't want to sound rude, but is there something I can help you with?" Harry asked. "Because I don't think that you came here just to talk."
"I am here to offer to give you a tour of Asgard," Sif replied. "if you are willing then I will escort you, if not then I can arrange for food and entertainment to be arranged for you." Harry remained silent for several moments, his emerald eyes locked on to her.
"Thor or Odin?" Harry asked.
"I beg your pardon?" She blinked.
"Who sent you to babysit me?" Harry asked with a small sigh. "Was it Thor to make sure I don't end up doing something or was it Odin to make sure I don't end up doing something?" Harry asked calmly, waiting for an answer.
"Both," Sif answered honestly after a moment of silence. "Thor because he considers you a friend, and..."
"Odin because he doesn't trust me," Harry finished for her. "fair enough. Come on Padfoot," Harry said as he and Padfoot stepped out of the room. "lead the way, Lady Sif." Harry nodded to her. Sif, who was thankful that he wasn't making her job difficult, began walking with Harry and Padfoot following alongside her.
A.N: Hi guys, hope you enjoyed the chapter. Before people ask, no I haven't decided about pairing Harry with Sif yet. I would kind of like for Harry to at the very least have a sort of friendship with Sif. In terms of pairing I think I am just going to keep writing and if I feel that I like writing Sif enough and if all (most) of you like it enough then I may add Sif into the pairing. But until I give confirmation this is still just Harry/Nat. The same also goes for Gwen because I know a few people have been asking.
Anyway thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed the chapter, feel free to leave a review and enjoy the omakes.
Omake 1:
"I am the Master of Death." Harry said.
"You've...mastered my daughter?!" Odin demanded.
"Here's your tea." Hela said to Harry as she comes into the room while wearing a maid outfit.
"Thanks," Harry said as he took the tea from her, he then looked at Odin and grinned. "as to your question...yes."
Omake 2:
Bucky walks into a room to find all the Avengers looking at Harry and Tony who are laughing their asses off while Steve is banging his head against a wall.
"Um...what's going on?" Bucky asked.
"Steve had made some education videos for schools, Tony was able to get his hands on them." Bruce explained.
"Are they embarrassing and/or funny?" Bucky asked.
"Indubitably." Natasha nodded.
An hour later Fury walks into the room to find Tony and Harry laughing while Bucky is hysterically laughing so much that he is on the floor while Steve is hitting himself on the head with his shield.
Omake 3:
"Okay but why do I have to be the one to give her the talk?" Harry complained.
"Because she trusts you and Tony doesn't want to do it." Pepper replied while Tony nodded.
"Fine," Harry said through gritted teeth before going over to Morgan and sitting next to her. "Morgan, you know how you're a big girl and you're growing up."
"Yeah?" Morgan replied.
"You know how older people like to do 'certain things'?"
"You mean sex?"
"Yes, not going to bother asking how you know that. I just came here to say don't have sex, or you will get pregnant and die!" Harry nodded to himself before standing up and walking over to Tony and Pepper. "Done." He said as he walked past them.
Omake 4 :
"What's wrong with her?" Harry asks when he sees Morgan sniffing.
"Someone was bullying her." Bruce answered as he rubbed her back.
"Right, probably time to start teaching her how to use a knife then." Bucky suggested.
"I'll get the guns." Natasha added.
"I'll get my bow and arrow." Clint said.
"Guy's no!" Pepper shouted. "We're not teaching my child to use guns, and knives and bows."
"Pepper's right," Harry agreed.
"Thank you, I..."
"We'll start with hand to hand combat first." Harry said to the group who all nodded in agreement.
"Harry..." Pepper said.
"Yeah?"
"Why do I let you near my child?"
