July 21
Yesterday I learned a big lesson about leaving laundry outside to dry.
You can't blame me really; I grew up with washing machines and dryers. All I had to think about was taking the clothes out before my mom got mad at me for leaving them in too long. I never had to worry about storms carrying away the clothes.
Anyway, I spent some time with Sango this afternoon while Inuyasha and Miroku were helping the village men with some things. I had done laundry before I left our house (which turns out to be such a laborious task without a washing machine!).
For now, Sango and I were sitting on her front porch watching her kids play with Kirara and she held her baby Shinichi who was sucking on a pacifier.
In the distance I saw Miroku and Inuyasha coming towards the house. "They're back, finally."
Miroku kissed Sango. "Hello, my dear."
Inuyasha sat next to me and gave me a hug and kiss as well.
"It's about time you got back," I said.
"It's a good thing we finished everything up when we did," Miroku said. "There's a really bad storm on the way."
"At least you didn't get stuck in it," Sango said.
I shuddered slightly. Storms always made her uneasy, especially here in the Feudal Era where things weren't tied down as securely. I'd experienced a few of them since I'd been here and each time I always felt like the roof would fly off.
Inuyasha hugged me again and kissed my cheek. He knows how much I hate storms.
Miroku felt a raindrop on his nose. "And it begins."
"Midori, Mieko, come inside," Sango called to her daughters.
More rain drops started coming down. "We should go home," Inuyasha said. He stood up then pulled me up with him.
"Bye you guys," I said, waving to our friends
"Bye," Miroku and Sango called back as they led the girls inside.
Inuyasha and I got in our house just as the rain started really pouring down. I squeezed my hair out. "At least we didn't get too wet." Then I hugged Inuyasha. "I'm sure you're hungry, you've been gone all day."
"Trust me I'm starving. What are you making for dinner?"
"Would you like tempura?"
He kissed her. "You really do love me, don't you?"
Soon we were sitting in front of the fire eating our dinner with the rain really pouring outside.
Once we finished eating, I washed the dishes. Inuyasha looked out the window at the pouring rain and blowing trees. Someone's kimono blew past getting carried by the heavy wind. "I feel sorry for whoever was stupid enough to leave their clothes outside."
I froze. Was I that stupid person? "Uh oh…"
He glanced at me. "Uh oh what? You did bring the clothes in didn't you?"
I thought back to that morning but I couldn't remember. "I'm not sure…"
Inuyasha looked back outside. The kimono was all dirty and muddy and was still blowing in the wind. "Shit, that could have been mine!" he exclaimed. He went for the door.
"You're not really going to go check are you?"
"It's better to go check now before this rain gets even worse, unless you want to lose all of your clothes."
I watched from the window as he went outside and immediately got soaked. The wind was blowing so hard it almost knocked him down. He pushed his wet hair out of his face and went to go check the clothes line. Our clothesline was empty and for a I wondered if all of our clothes had gotten blown away.
I ran into our room and looked in the closet. Sure enough, all of the clothes I had washed this morning were there. Whoops.
I was sitting on the couch when the door opened. Lightning flashed and she saw red eyes in it. "AHH!"
"Would you relax? It's just me," he said.
"I looked in the closet. All of our clothes are there."
"I wish you had told me that earlier." He squeezed the water out of his hair. "Damn whoever left all their crap outside."
I went over to him and took off his red kimono. "You're soaked. You should have stayed inside."
Inuyasha sighed. "I know." He took off his white shirt and handed it to me as well.
I then kissed his lips. "You dry off and I'll get you some dry clothes." He handed her his pants and I hung his clothes up. Afterwards I went into our room and got him some more pants and a dry robe to wear. When I went back into the main room, he was sitting on the floor by the fire. "Put this on."
"Thanks Kagome," he said as he started to get dressed.
I sat next to him in his arms. Then there was another huge blast of thunder, and another, and another, the one after that shook the house. The whole time I clung to Inuyasha trying to stop shaking.
Inuyasha, however, held back a laugh. "Why do thunderstorms scare you so much?"
"They just scare me here."
"Why?"
"Because…I just feel like the roof is going to fly off or something. Things aren't as secure here as they are in my era."
"So, if everything was held down better you wouldn't be scared?"
"If the house was held into the ground by cement maybe."
"What the hell is cement?"
"It's the stuff the sidewalks are made of in my era."
"Well if we had some here I'd fix it for you "
"I'd bring a lot of things for you guys to see if I had access to them. I'd probably still be scared anyway."
Inuyasha held me close to him and kissed my forehead. "I'll protect you Kagome. You don't need to be scared."
I cuddled into him and held his hand. I felt much more secure in his arms. "I love you, Inuyasha."
He ran his hand down my back. "I love you too Kagome. I love you so much."
He ran his hand down my leg then went back up my skirt. I let out a pleased sigh at the feeling of his touch. "Mmmm, Yasha."
He lifted her chin and kissed me gently. We kissed once again, much longer and much more passionately this time. Our tongue's danced around our mouths, tasting each other. I gripped the front of his robe as we kissed. Then I tilted my head back as he placed a trail of kisses down my neck. He slid my shirt off and kissed down my shoulders as he did. I ran my hands down his chest then slid his shirt off as well, tracing all of the planes and muscles of his chest making him moan from it. Our lips connected again becoming more and more urgent with each second. We became tangled in each other touching and caressing every inch of each other's bodies.
He dipped me down slowly and laid me gently down on my back.
I looked into his golden eyes. "I want you, Yasha."
He smiled and kissed my lips. "I'll give you all of my love, Kagome."
So I definitely learned a lesson about laundry in the Feudal Era today. But with the way the day ended, I think it turned out okay.
