Shazam!
With the criminal arrested, the group stood outside the FBI office. Sarah hadn't said anything to Chuck yet and Chuck was avoiding her by talking with everyone but her and Casey.
"So, what now?" Mar'i asked.
"I'm sure Frost and our family will figure out that he's been arrested."
"Will they know it was us though? After all, Agent Burke's name was the one placed on the arrest record."
"Frost never needs to know," Casey mused.
"He's right," Damian agreed.
"Does she know about the, what was the word?, Shazam?" Sarah asked Chuck.
Chuck winced. He looked at Mar'i and Damian. Mar'i avoided his eye as this wasn't something she could give advice on.
"I won our bet," Damian pointed out, rather helpfully he thought.
"What?"
"You ended up saving Sarah's life. I win the bet and you have to tell her now."
"And if I don't?"
"Then I hand her Batman's files on you. They include a lot."
Chuck's shoulders slumped.
"Actually, the files might be helpful either way," Mar'i pointed out. "Can I see mine?"
"You don't have access?"
Mar'i's eyes glowed. "No." Her voice dripped venom.
"Your dad never showed you?" Chuck questioned.
Damian thought out loud, "maybe he doesn't have access. I wouldn't be surprised if my father hid things from Grayson."
"Your father hides things from everyone," Mar'i pointed out. "And Chuck needs to explain to Sarah about being a superhero."
"Retired Superhero!" Chuck corrected quickly. He turned to Sarah. "I assure you, I haven't been risking my life against Justice League level threats."
"Chuck. You know that we put our lives at risk going after bad guys. I'm not upset that you have other bad guys you go after as well. I'm upset that you never shared this with me, even though we're married."
Chuck winced as Sarah walked off.
"I want that file," Casey growled at Damian.
"I'll email it to Sarah." The file wasn't for Casey. "If she decides to share it with you, then that's up to her."
"Damian!"
"Look, it's the file that just details the who, whats and whys of your powers. Not the one that details takedown methods."
"Yeah. That's why Grandpa B keeps these things hidden from my father," Mar'i sighed at Peter. "My father vocally disagrees with keeping takedown files. Even though he has takedown plans for everyone."
"How does Damian fit into all of this?" Peter asked her.
"Unfortunately, I can't access his file."
"I'll email it. It details the Bryce Larkin and Neal Caffrey aliases as well so you can get an idea of why I'm here."
He blinked as everyone stared at him. "What? It's much more convenient than explaining and Peter will have time to consolidate questions for me."
Peter started making up
"I thought he had loosened up a little bit," Chuck mused. "I guess not."
"I've loosened up enough," Damian responded. "Just not as much as I might act."
"I bet he has, like, five weapons on him."
Damian rubbed his face as Peter gave him an alarmed look. "While I might have weapons on me, you won't be able to prove it. Also Mar'i, stop saying things that make the agents want to arrest me."
"Oops." She was grinning as she said that.
Everyone went home shortly after that. It was time to read files and compile questions. Damian walked into his apartment, glad that no one would be bugging him for a few hours at least. He started getting his paints ready and settled onto the stool.
There was a knock at the door.
Damian took one look at Tim and slammed the door in his face.
"Whatever it is, I don't care."
The locked door barely gave Tim pause as he picked it open and walked inside. "Yes, I already figured you wouldn't care to explain how the FBI managed to beat us and Frost."
"Do I get no privacy?"
"You didn't put any extra locks or traps there so I guess not."
Sometimes, Damian really hated his family. The red hot frustration that burned through him reminded him of all the times he had been so close to ridding his life of Tim's presence. "You already established that I'm not going to tell you anything. So why break in?"
"Because I reckon I can get you to talk."
"There's nothing to talk about." Damian slipped into the closet area. There was a door into June's part of the house. It wouldn't fool Tim for long but it would hopefully be long enough for Damian to get out of the house. He slipped through the panel and bolted for the front door.
Seeing Mozzie's taxi outside gave him pause for a moment but he went for the obvious assistance and jumped in.
"How'd you know I'd need you?" he asked as he buckled up.
"I've been sitting here since morning. I figured your family would make some kind of move."
"I appreciate you getting this close to a vigilante fight then. Do you know where Mar'i lives?"
"No. Give me the address." Mozzie tapped the running metre. Damian appreciated the hustle but it wasn't great when he was the one paying up.
Chuck had slept in another room the previous night. He didn't want Sarah asking lots of questions when he was tired and he wanted to give her space to absorb all the information she had been given. At his request, flowers had been delivered and he was going to present them to her. A gift to help remind her of why she put up with his actions.
"Morning Chuck." Her hair was a mess and she was still wearing the same outfit as the previous day.
"Did you sleep at all?" he asked.
"No. Maybe. I've spent a lot of time looking at a certain video site."
That was strange. Sarah hadn't ever been someone to look at videos for hours on end. What could she have found that was so interesting?
Chuck caught a glimpse of red, yellow and white. The blood drained from his face. He had forgotten about the videos Morgan had uploaded years ago, back when he first got his powers.
"Those are still on the net?" he questioned, his voice high pitched. "I thought Morgan had deleted them?"
"I guess he forgot. I also found some other videos, old news broadcasts really. You've saved us all so many times and I never realised."
"I guess it explains how I'm able to keep my cool during some of our missions, huh?" Chuck joked.
Sarah continued to stare at him. "Surprisingly, it does. Who knows about the superhero part of your life?"
Chuck listed off the people who knew. When he got to Orion, Sarah's eyebrows raised in surprise. Chuck got distracted for a little bit, talking about how they had saved his father and set him up in Gotham.
"That explains why Frost was in Gotham."
Chuck nodded. His mother had moved in with his father, even though she didn't like Gotham. "It's also Bryce's hometown so make sure you don't insult it in front of him."
"What's Bryce's deal?" Sarah asked. "I guess that he's like you, a superhero, but I have little other information."
"Ask him. I mean, he shared about Bryce, I'm sure he can share about Damian."
