Chapter twenty three:

"We are still looking for her though. We will do everything in our power to find her."

"Where are you?" Light questions his boyfriend ready to go racing out. "I will do what I can to help."

L would tell Light to stay home and wait. He however knows very well that the brunette would not do so. He gives Light his location so the other can come over to where he is.

"I'll see you soon." Light promises then hangs up. He races out of the house hurriedly locking the door behind himself and running to where L is. He does keep looking around as he goes hoping that he will see any sign of Sayu. He arrives and the raven haired male approaches him as he skids to a stop. He is panting though he doesn't care as it is all for helping in finding his sister.

L allows their eyes to meet as they stand facing each other. "We will keep searching until we find her." He tells Light who nods softly then looks around from where he is standing; as if hoping for a glimpse of his sister that might have been missed.

Light follows L who shows him what they have found so far to get him up to speed. He clenches his teeth together in fear as he sees the tire marks. And he just has this sinking feeling that it is indeed tied to what happened to his dear sister. He goes around looking around the area for any sign of where Sayu could have gone. He does know his sister better than them so he feels like him looking in the area would be a good idea. He knows that if she did run from an attempted kidnapping she should have kept to where she could be seen easier. He looks for any places that might have had enough people around that she might have ran in that direction. He spots one way just a little past where her phone was found. He begins asking people in the area if they had seen anything.

"No. Sorry."

"I just got here twenty minutes ago. I didn't see anything."

"I didn't see anything. There are some crazy drivers. I didn't look up from what I was doing when I heard the car. It wasn't close enough for me to worry and there was no strange sounds. I thought they had to stop to avoid someone jaywalking or something."

"Sorry. I was inside the whole time. I can't see that area and I didn't hear anything. I wish I could help you."

Light continues on asking everyone he can in the hopes that someone will know something… No matter how much time ticks by.

Mello looks to the time starting to realize just how late it is getting. "Perhaps we should get some rest." He suggests turning to look to the other two who are in the room.

Matt stretches his arms above his head. "That sounds good to me. I think coming back to this with a fresh pair of eyes will do me some good." He lowers his arms with a slightly relieved sigh that he can finally go to sleep. He has wanted to do so for a bit though didn't want to be the first to bring up the idea. He felt like Near might mention when they should take a break to rest, he just decides to go along with his blonde friend suggesting it instead. He figures that at least it wasn't him who had suggested the idea.

The two of them turn to look to the only other one in the room with them, Near.

"You two can go ahead and get some rest." Near suggests to them putting some papers down onto the ground. He doesn't look right at either of them. He can still feel the worry that others will end up hurt or dead if he doesn't keep on working. "I will be alright. I want to do some work tonight."

Mello closes his eyes softly at hearing this come from Near. He opens his eyes and looks to Matt. He finds that the red head isn't looking at him and is instead keeping his gaze on Near, though he can't properly see Matt's eyes from this angle as the other is wearing his goggles.

Matt is the first to move and he gets up only to head over to Near. He stops behind the other, who does not turn around to face him or giving any signs that he has heard him approach, he squats only to slip his arms around the other. He makes sure that the others arms are not under his arms and he gets up. His arms going under the platinum haired boys armpits as he is kind of lifted off of the ground. He is doing his best to hold him.

At being picked up Near does turn his head to look to the red head. He knows that the two can see his surprise written on his face despite that anyone else probably wouldn't see it at all.

"Don't you dare think that we are just going to leave you here like that." Matt informs Near, a slight strain in his voice from holding Near up in his arms, though he does manage a smile to the other. "We are your friends and nothing is going to change that. We are all taking care of each other in this household. No one is excluded from that."

Near looks about to speak however that is when Mello approaches causing him to turn to the blonde.

"Matt is right." Mello slips an arm in helping Matt support Near, which he is well aware that the red head is very grateful for. "We are all in things together in this household. And that means that even if we have to drag your ass to bed and cuddle you to make sure that you sleep, then that is exactly what we are going to do. No ifs ands or buts about this. Sleep is very important. You are not allowed to risk your health like that by missing too much sleep." He helps, though at this point Near knows the two won't back down so he walks with them a little when his feet are on the floor, carry the smallest of the trio to the bedroom.

They let him go so that they can move into comfortable positions.

Mello lays down on Matt's bed then Matt gently encourages Near to lay down too.

Matts bed will have more room for them to cuddle to ensure Near doesn't try to sneak away in the middle of the night to work. They all will probably sleep on their sides though they are willing to do so to make this work if it will help them for tonight.

Near does as he is gently encouraged to do and lays down by Mello who puts an arm over his body.

Matt soon joins them on Near's other side also putting an arm over the smaller ones body. "There. Now we are all going to get some rest together and wake up refreshed with a good breakfast."

"Okay." Near tries to hide a small yawn, unsuccessfully. He does shyly smile upon hearing the two softly chuckle at his small yawn. He closes his eyes feel safe, warm and secure. He can snuggle into the blankets that are pulled over the three of them as well as snuggle into the other twos embraces. He ends up falling asleep rather quickly finding that all of his time working has really caught up to him. He can allow himself, and the other two, this moment. His worries currently forgotten though will no doubt be back when he gets up tomorrow.

Mello and Matt are happy to see Near peacefully resting and they close their eyes to happily join him in dreamland.
