Welcome geniuses and…..to another episode of Pokémon Takeover: Game Genie! Down to the semi-finals of the tournament and if you haven't figured out who faces who…welp…
Cue Rock Eyecatch
The boys pose and speak:
Daily Lives of High School Trainers
The teacher, Steven, is writing on the board.
Steven: Okay class: Who has the homework?
Wally: My Delcatty ate my homework.
Steven: Well I guess that's a fair excuse. Lucas?
Lucas: (Working on a small robot) Did it 6 months ago.
Steven: Oh..right..anyone else have excuses?
Drew: I was fighting a Dragonite!
Steven: Unrealistic.
Calem: I threw it out the window.
Steven: You probably shouldn't have told me that!
Tierno: I had a college paper-
Steven: You're in High School!
Trevor: My husband made me stop!
Steven: YOU'RE NOT EVEN MARRIED!
Brendan: I just didn't feel like doing it.
Steven: And you just have a lazy, blunt answer.
Lunick: *raises his hand* I did it, Sensei.
*Everyone turns to Lunick*
Calem: Kiss ass!
Wally: Teacher's Pet!
Drew and Brendan: You couldn't even try to side with us, huh?!
Lunick: Wait, what the hell?
Lucas: You are literally the worst.
Steven: 200 demerits.
Lunick: Whose side are you on?
Brendan: Uh, guys…the hell are we doing? Shouldn't we start the actual show?
End
Lucas woke up on the floor of the Pokémon Center with a blanket wrapped around him. To say he was confused was an understatement.
"What the," he said. He then heard a voice.
"Morning, Sleeping Beauty," Shauna said approaching him; alongside Calem and Wally.
"Have I been here the whole time," Lucas asked stretching.
"Yup, it's 11am. That's late for you," Wally chuckled.
"Oh man. Wonder what happened to Dawn; I feel like I fell asleep on her," Lucas sighed.
"I'll get us some tea," Shauna said walking off.
"Thanks," the boys replied.
"By the way," Calem started. Lucas turned to the two. There was a long silence before Calem and Wally pulled out sheets of paper.
"Do you have the homework this week," they both asked.
"Wait, WHAT," Lucas exclaimed.
Cue Battle Intro (youtube watch?v=bDokwN3bkr0) (For music)
Lucas and Calem stand back to back; they begin to slide apart into the background. Meanwhile Wally and Ash cheer on Pikachu and Gallade, who are battling; using Iron Tail and Psycho Cut, respectively. Finally, Brendan stands behind Swampert and activates his Mega Bracelet; there's a bright flash.
The guys, including Ash speak:
Chapter 34:
Sometimes the Safer Options are the Ones You Need…But Not Most of the Time
The three boys and Shauna were headed towards the city in order to find out the next matchups for the tournament (Even if it was fairly obvious at this point).
"Are you sure that you're ready for our next matchup? You've been spending a lot of time looking for Latias and hanging with Dawn," Calem said.
Lucas chuckled, "No worries, man. No need to worry."
"Every time he tells us not to worry, is when I worry the most," the other three thought.
Wally recovered and saw the semi-final matchup on the board. The others turned towards him, and then looked up to see the matchup:
Wally and Lisia vs Calem and Lucas
Before anyone could react; Brendan and Drew approached the group from behind.
"Welp…that's a predicament," Brendan said.
"Yeah, how are you guys gonna take it-" Drew started. Almost immediately, Lucas, Wally, and Calem turned on each other.
"YOU BASTARDS ARE GOING DOWN," Wally yelled.
"Wait, what," Drew exclaimed.
"NOW YOU DECIDE TO GROW A PAIR HUH?! WE'RE BREAKING YOU, JUST LIKE A YANDERE!" Lucas yelled.
Brendan whispered to Drew, "Yeah, this tends to happen whenever we face each other. We made an agreement that whenever that happens, we have to talk huge trash to each other."
Drew sighed, "This seems more mean than anything…"
Brendan shrugged, "Hey, people seem to like when rivals are super mean to each other; even if it borders on annoying."
"That doesn't make any sense," Drew thought. "Besides, shouldn't we looking for Latias?"
Brendan huffed, "I wanted to do something, but Lunick and Solana made us stay quiet.
Flashback
"Brendan, you can't do anything about it," Solana stated.
"WHY THE HELL NOT?! We should totally get those guys; gimme one good reason-" Brendan started.
Lunick spoke lazily, "Cause technically, it wasn't illegal. Plus, if you go out and try to do something about it, there's nothing we can do to stop police or other figures for coming for you."
Solana pointed at him, "I hate to agree, but he said exactly what I was doing. Sorry, kid."
Brendan groaned, "Can you guys at least try to look into it?"
Solana thought for a moment and spoke, "OF course not! We-"
"Well we could just mark it up as 'patrol'. Couldn't get in trouble for that," Lunick suggested.
"Don't give him any ideas, Lunick," Solana snapped.
"Oh, come on! It might not be illegal, but you have to admit: it's a little sketchy." Brendan started.
There was silence for a bit before Brendan pleaded: "Solana, please?"
Solana sighed, "Don't expect anything major. If we happen to be in the area of them, we'll look around."
Brendan smiled, "Thank you!"
Lunick chuckled, "Ooh, Ms. Solana's being a naughty ranger girl."
Solana mumbled, "Maybe, they could've kidnapped Lunick instead."
Brendan joined in, "I'd prefer that."
Flashback Ends
"And that's pretty much the story-wait, how'd I get here," Brendan jumped.
Drew sighed, "You were talking for about 15 minutes: I didn't want you to miss the battle, so I had to carry you to the colosseum; you're a lot lighter than you look."
Brendan smirked, "Thanks man, I try to work out-"
The boy was cutoff by May slightly pushing him out of the way, and placing herself in between the two boys.
"Did you talk to them," May asked nervously.
Brendan nodded, "Well ya see:
Flashback Star-
Drew covered Brendan's mouth, "Yeah, he did, they're on it."
"Were you about to talk for way too long," May asked.
"Yes, yes he was," Drew answered as Brendan removed his hand.
"I appreciate that," May said.
"Got your back, babe," Drew said.
"You too, dude," Brendan said; barely paying attention, while Drew and May gave him a somewhat annoyed, yet confused look.
Colosseum Entrance
"ARE YOU READY TO CRUSH THAT WIMP," Calem yelled.
Lucas nodded violently, "Hell yeah! Let's do it-
Lucas suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder; he turned quickly and saw Dawn.
"Hey guys," she waved.
"Oh hey, what's up," Lucas asked.
Before Dawn could answer, Calem walked off.
"Eh, what just happened," Dawn asked.
Lucas chuckled, "He probably wanted to say psyched for the match."
Dawn tilted her head, "S-Sure…anyways, I just came to wish you guys good luck."
"Aw, thanks! Haven't battled Wally in a while; actually really freaked, if I'm being honest," Lucas said.
"Yeah, but him and Lisia have wicked chemistry. You sure you guys can beat that," Dawn continued.
Lucas flashed a thumbs up, "No need to worry! Calem loves me!"
"Well you both lack tact, so there's that," Dawn thought rolling her eyes.
"Actually," Lucas started. "There's something I wanna talk to you about."
Dawn froze for a second, "Yeah, what's up?"
Lucas began, "I just wanted to say that we worked really well together, a couple of weeks ago."
"It was literally yesterday," Dawn said.
"But I was wondering," Lucas continued. "We worked really well."
"Yeah, I was thinking that too," Dawn smiled.
"So I just wanted to say," Lucas said.
"Maybe we messed up," Dawn asked.
Lucas chuckled, "Well, I-"
"LUCAS! Hurry up," Calem was heard yelling over the intercom.
Dawn and Lucas both jumped, "AH," causing Lucas to jump in Dawn's arms.
After realizing the predicament he was in, Lucas jumped up and ran towards the arena.
Dawn slumped down, "What's the point anymore?"
"Something wrong," a voice echoed behind her. Dawn jumped to see Emma standing behind her.
"What are you doing here," Dawn asked; somewhat suspiciously.
Emma giggled, "I was gonna wish Lucas and Calem good luck."
After seeing the footage from earlier, Dawn was noticeably on guard. While Emma was innocent, she still associated with the group.
"Are you upset that you guys broke up," Emma asked.
Dawn sighed, "I'm fine."
Emma fake giggled, "I can tell when you're lying."
Dawn looked back at Emma, "You're not gonna leave me alone are you?"
Emma shook her head back and forth
The Battle
"So what's your backstory," Calem asked. "What the hell are you talking about," Lucas asked with confusion.
Calem groaned, "Don't you have some stupid tie with your past that you'll be reminded of through this battle, whether we win or lose?"
"I mean I wouldn't call it tragic," Lucas said. "I mean nobody died or anything-"
"Forget it! Let's go, Espeon," Calem said; releasing his Psychic Pokémon.
Espeon leaped onto the battlefield; after seeing where she was, she walked over to Calem and rubbed herself against him, and then Lucas.
"Aw, she's so friendly," Lucas said. "Infern-"
Almost immediately, another Poké ball burst. After the energy disappeared, Riolu posed.
"Riolu, what are you doing," Lucas asked. "I told you, you're not ready for a battle like this!"
Riolu looked at Lucas with puppy (Lillipup) eyes; Lucas almost immediately caved.
"Just be careful, you," Lucas said.
Lisia groaned, "Well that was easy: Popplio, time to shine." Popplio was released from its Poké ball.
"Popplio," it cried out.
Lisia giggled, "Looks like we have a battle of firsts for Popplio and Riolu."
Calem smirked, "And so sad that Popplio is losing for the first time!"
Wally yelled back, "Never knew you were so good at being wrong, ya schmuck!"
Lisia groaned, "So am I gonna have to be the voice of reason today," she thought.
"Psychic," Calem immediately said. Espeon sent a blue wave of energy immediately at Popplio.
Lisia glared, "Hey, we weren't ready, you jerk!"
The referee spoke up, "I'll allow it!"
Lisia collapsed, "Why today of all days?"
"Go, Sceptile! Use Leaf Blade," Wally yelled. Sceptile popped out of its ball. Almost immediately, it slashed a green blade at Espeon.
Espeon backflipped out of the way, and landed next to Riolu.
"And now I'm just annoyed," Lisia growled. "Popplio, Bubblebeam!"
Popplio obliged and sent a barrage of bubbles towards Riolu; knocking it back.
"Hey, why'd you hurt my baby?" Lucas yelled.
Lisia was getting more annoyed, "It's a battle! It was bound to happen eventually!"
"You're wrong for that Lisia," Calem said.
"Do it again," Lisia commanded, even more annoyed than usual. Popplio fired more bubbles at Riolu.
Lucas smirked, "Not this time! Riolu, use Force Palm!"
Riolu charged up its palm until a yellow light began to emanate from it, and immediately stopped the bubbles in their tracks.
"Now, Quick Attack," Lucas said.
"And Espeon, Double Team," Calem said.
Espeon began to make dozens of copies of herself; as they ran towards Sceptile and Popplio, Riolu dashed in between the two of them.
"Bullet Seed," Wally said. Sceptile fired seeds at the copies; causing them to immediately vanish.
Espeon swatted the last few away with her tail. Riolu jumped over her and smashed into Popplio; sending Popplio back.
Lisia smirked, "Not bad, you're almost as good as Brendan.
"Ha," Brendan yelled from afar.
Before anyone could react, Lucas noticed Riolu breathing heavily.
"Riolu, are you okay," Lucas asked with concern.
Riolu gave a somewhat tired, thumbs up (or at least tried to).
"Leaf Blade," Wally said. Sceptile extended its blades and swung them at Riolu. Riolu combat rolled out of the way.
"Moonblast," Lisia said. Popplio gathered energy from the sky. As it gathered the energy, Espeon readied itself.
"Iron Tail," Calem said. Espeon had her tail glow and hit Popplio with it. Popplio was sent flying back towards Lisia.
Lucas cheered, "WOO!" Lisia glared at Lucas intensely, somewhat frightening Calem.
Wally turned towards Lisia, "Um, are you-"
"SO YOU THINK THIS IS FUNNY," Lisia yelled.
Lucas chuckled cheekily, "Hee Hee, yeah kinda."
"DEAR GOD, YOU'LL KILL US ALL! THE INTENSE MOCKING STUFF IS FOR US, NOT LIS!" Wally thought.
"If I had known him being his happy self would get us here, I would've killed him along time ago," Calem thought.
Lisia growled at her opponents; her face went dark and her eyes glowed red. "IT'S NOT NEARLY AS FUNNY….as this!" She winked playfully; turning back to normal.
Popplio smiled and surrounded itself with a ball of water. There was a ring surrounding the ball as it remained around Popplio. After a few moments, most of Popplio's scratches were gone.
"It's called Aqua Ring! Look it up," Lisia laughed.
"Not sure it's that effective in the games," Lucas said.
"I don't think anything is at this point," Calem replied.
Wally smirked, "Nice! Sceptile, Leech Seed!" Sceptile immediately fired a seed at Espeon. The seed made contact and wrapped itself the Pokémon.
"I always hated that you had that move," Calem groaned.
Lucas finally regained his composure, "Wait? You knew?! Why didn't you say anything or come up with a plan?"
Calem shrugged, "Eh, then it wouldn't have been as fun to do in battle."
Suddenly Espeon felt her energy being sapped and absorbed by Sceptile.
"Oh crap, right! Iron Tail," Calem said. Espeon recovered her composure and swung her glowing tail at Popplio.
Popplio takes a direct hit and flew into Sceptile; who was just barely able to make the catch.
"Telekinesis," Calem said.
"Uh, oh," Wally said with a look of concern. Espeon with the energy she had left, cried out in affirmation. Espeon's eyes glowed a shade of white, and as it happened an aura began to surround Sceptile and Popplio. They were launched into the air and held in place.
"What the heck," Lisia yelped
In the Audience
"Huh…that's a new one," Brendan said. Drew and May turned to him, "What does it do?"
"Telekinesis does exactly what it would for a Psychic person; for a little bit, the Pokémon are suspended in midair. Makes things kinda tricky."
May pouted, "More like makes things unfair."
"You must not want to win," both Brendan and Drew exclaimed at once. May, annoyed, smacked Drew in the back of the head.
"Ow," he yelped rubbing his head. "Hey! He said it too!"
May froze for a second, "Oh, uh…"
SMACK!
Brendan lightly rubbed his head and sighed, "You know… it was more fun when you hit me of your own choice…disappointing Princess."
May scoffed, "Please, don't worry Brendan, with or without someone telling me, I'll always feel like hitting you!"
Brendan laughed and mocked, "This just in on May's Expeditions: No duh!"
With Calem and Lucas
"What the hell are they doing up there," Lucas asked.
"Being stupid," Calem said. "Anyways, shouldn't you-"
"Right!" Lucas exclaimed. "Riolu, charge up your Force Palm!" Riolu began storing its power into both of its palms.
Wally began to panic, "Crap, this isn't good!"
Lisia's lightbulb above her head went off, "Popplio, use Round!" Popplio inhaled, and began to send out a melodious tune. As the tune continued, musical notes began to fly out of Popplio's mouth with red, green, and blue variations.
The notes flew right towards Riolu who began to destroy a good amount of the notes, but several flew past the Emanation Pokémon. The remaining ones hit Espeon directly and released her hold on Sceptile and Popplio.
Wally smiled, "Heh, nice one, Lis!"
Lisia nodded, while focusing on the battle. "Popplio, trap them in bubbles!"
Popplio fired a cannonade of bubbles towards Riolu and Espeon. Riolu; too close to the opponents, was unable to avoid the very first bubble, and was trapped thusly.
"This is not gonna end well," Lucas said.
"What was your first clue, smart guy," Calem said.
"Bullet Seed," Wally said. Sceptile charged up a barrage of seeds more powerful than the last, and then jumped over the bubbles; shooting them from all sides.
Riolu and Espeon were getting pelted from everywhere; absorbing the pain from the angles.
As the bubbles popped, Lisia smirked. "Not yet, Popplio!"
Popplio further pushed itself and shot more bubbles towards the opponents. The closer they got to escaping, the more bubbles trapped them. As this was happening, Sceptile had landed on the other side of the original position.
Sceptile began charging one of its arms into a Leaf Blade, much more massive than the previous ones.
"Heh, not yet," Lisia yelled!
Almost immediately, Popplio inhaled for a substantial period of time. Finally, it fired a giant bubble that was several stories high.
"Holy Hammerhead Sharpedo," Wally said amazed.
"Sweet Shitbucket Sandwich," Lucas said almost defeated.
"…Should I get a catchphrase," Calem asked.
The giant bubble completely engulfed the remaining bubbles; further trapping Riolu and Espeon.
"Get in close and use Round," Lisia yelled. Popplio put its mouth and nose in the bubble; immediately afterwards, a giant arrangement of musical notes filled the bubbles.
"Heh, not bad. But maybe we should cut this to size," Wally said with a smirk. Noting this, Sceptile left into the air; higher than the entire set of bubbles. It raised its right arm into the air and waited.
"GIVE US THE BIGGEST LEAF BLADE YA GOT," Wally and Lisia yelled; clasping hands in the air. Obeying the command from the in synch trainers, Sceptile swung its blade that had grown even bigger than average.
"RAAAAAAH!" it yelled as it slashed through the bubbles filled with notes. At first the action had stopped, but immediately the bubbles and the notes exploded. The colors from the notes caused a massive array of light, while the bubbles showed off the array and power of the water.
The water rained down the entire arena and a large array of rainbows appeared. Meanwhile the impact on Espeon and Riolu was covered by the mist.
"Ha…Ha..How was that?" Wally said confidently.
Lisia smiled, "I've never seen him this confident. So this is what it's like when he and his buddies go at it. We might even head to the-"
"What the hell?" Wally asked, interrupting her thoughts. Lisia, confused, turned to their opponents. As the mist lifted, there appeared to be a bright light that slowly emerged. The audience was in silence; but that silence soon turned to shock when they saw what was underneath.
Espeon had covered herself with a star aura and had protected Riolu. Well mostly, Riolu took a great amount of damage, but was still standing.
Finally, Espeon's star aura faded and her orb began to go dark.
"That's certainly not good; when Espeon has its orb darken, that's a sign of growing weaker." Steven announced.
"Unbelievable," Lisia exclaimed.
Wally laughed, "I'm impressed Espeon is still standing. But we can still finish you guys off!"
Calem was shocked, "Espeon…you saved Riolu…" Espeon turned to her trainer and weakly smiled.
"After all of that, Riolu…can you keep going?" Lucas asked. Riolu barely moved, but gave Lucas a thumbs up.
Lucas chuckled. He was feeling the excitement of the battle; out of nowhere, he tightened his scarf.
"Let's do this, Riolu!" he yelled out with seriousness.
"Rio!" Riolu said sharpening its stance.
A/N: Sorry for the lack of character stuff, I realized that my style of writing battles could use some work. So I decided to focus on that more this time. But more importantly, that's not the apology or update you guys deserve.
Guys, I owe you so much more than that. I was stuck in a brutal depression for the better part of a year and it sucked the fun of writing out from me. Not to mention finishing a degree with a major I never wanted and several other things slowed me down. But I never stopped thinking about this story. Even with my on/off writer's block, I came up with several new ideas for developments, new characters, maybe even a new rival for the boys to interact with. And I still have my plans for the crossover special AND all the OC characters introduced. But I know I have to earn your trust and respect back, so I will be doing my best. I can't promise weekly chapters like when I started, but I'm gonna be more regular. If you're willing to continue our journey, me, Brendan, Lucas, Calem, and Wally will do our best to bring fourth-wall jokes and joy to your lives….with a side of sass.
No questions this time, just review and comment if you feel the need. OYE Takeover Troupe! SEE YOU NEXT TIME!
