Well, she's sundress cotton, he's grease on a Carhartt shirt
She's a candle in the wind, he's a light it up and let it burn
And every time she's with him, all she wants to do is kiss him
Starts thinking maybe she can fix him, he's thinking he'd love to let her try
- Good Girl, Bad Boy; Florida Georgia.
She saw a choir boy
With judgment
in his eyes.
She threw a punch and
made him a man
Jace was the perfect son.
Handsome. Intelligent. Obedient. Athletic.
Obedient.
He had his whole family wrapped around his finger.
He had the whole town wrapped around his finger.
He was an angel
The angel who went to church and studied hard.
The angel who was oh so polite and sweet.
A golden boy.
The angel.
Meet Clary, resident bad influence.
...
"You know," she says casually, like they were friends and not near strangers "you could have bought a week-two weeks even-worth of food with that money." She nods to the plate in where Jace has just modestly dropped a 20 in. Jace raised an eyebrow. Turning to face the girl behind him.
He was sitting on the second to last row, due to his being late, opposed to the usual front row. The petite red-head with a hoodie and jeans was smirking at him.
Jace had to admit she was very pretty.
A single meal for one person would be $20. Heck, $20 was usually the tip when his family went out to eat together.
"Oh really?"
She nods, her hair shielding her brilliant green eyes from the sun. Her eyes were red-rimmed and her tan skin didn't hide the circles and her sweet perfume only masked some of the alcohol that still reeked from her pores.
"Totally." She nods, she leans forward and rest her chin on her palm. Her chin propped up with the back of his seat. He can smell the alcohol on her body, but her eyes were sharp and clear. "And that tie" she jerks her chin to his tie "can choke a lesser man."
"I'll keep that in mind" Jace smiles politely and stands to leave when she says.
"I bet you don't know my name."
Jace freezes, "You assumed correctly"
"I bet you would have asked any other pretty girl who wasn't wearing jeans and/or was hungover."
"Why are you still talking to me?"
"Because i'm just trash" she stands, completely ignoring his question "white hoe trash"
She brushed her curls over her shoulder, and took out some heart-shaped shades from her pocket.
Jace adjusts his tie, "I don't know you."
She grins blackly "Indeed. But where I...not me, you would have wanted to get to know me."
Jace checked his clock, "I think you are fine company but i'm late-"
She was walking away, hips swaying to a song only she can hear.
She salutes him as she leaves.
...
"You never go out." Izzy whines from her closet "Honestly, it's like someone put their stick up your ass."
"Maybe someone did." Alec remarked from his spot on the floor, he continued to throw the soccer ball into the air before catching it-then repeat.
"I'm just not into that scene." Jace explains for the millionth time ignoring Alec. "I prefer-"
"Sweet talking grandma's? Yes, we know." Izzy sighs, "All you ever talk abou is that dumb retirement home."
Jace takes off a sock to throw it at her.
"I know a chick who you'd like. Totally your type."
"Izzy, let it go." In a faux whisper Alec adds "He can't handle the pressure of looking good in front of idiots. Too much stress."
"I'm not going." Jace repeats.
The door to Izzy's room is shoved open and a blur of red rushes in, throwing herself belly flop style towards the bed-towards Jace- the bed-and lading on top of Jace.
She looks stunned, their bodies were making a plus sign on the mattress, her belly on top of his. Her hand which were lying limply, went to work to prop herself n a position so she can face Jace, "You ruined my entrance oh-" her eyes widen "your twenty bucks!"
"You're Ms. White Trash Hoe."
Izzy, who had left the closet to greet her friend, smacked his head, "That's mean! Say sorry!"
Clary shook her head, an awkward jerky gesture because her head was being held up by her hand. "No, it's okay."
"It's not okay-"
"I introduced myself that way."
Izzy stopped smacking Jace, "Oh." She flicks his forehead "Well, her name is Clary. She's the one I was talking about just now."
Clary rolled off him, her hands patting his six-pack, "Nice four-pack there, buddy."
Alec snorted and Jace sat up quickly, outraged.
He took of his shirt.
"It's a six-pack"
Clary was smiling as she took in his lean muscular chest "I see. Can I touch it?"
Jace felt his face heat up as he hastily put his oversized t-shirt back on.
"So what do you think?" Izzy asked Clary seriously, in front of the boys.
"Seems kinda prissy."
"He's not!" Izzy lies "Just watch. Tonight he'll show you he's a real ladies man."
Her eyebrows rise, "He's coming?"
"Totally!"
Clary looks at him, her face no longer teasing, now curious "Maybe I judged you too harshly. It takes a real man to be both a good boy and a party animal."
Jace grimaces, "I'll let you make your final verdict tonight."
...
He knew he wasn't being a very impressive 'party animal' but right now, at this moment in this party, he couldn't care less.
As soon as he got to the large crowded party, Clary on his left and his nosy best friends the Lightwoods on his right he had failed to be impressive.
For one, no one paid him much attention, like they did the popular guy in the movies. Secondly, some were even shooting him stunned looks. Because what would the student body president be doing here?
Isabelle left like a panther after her dinner following a tall brunet with glasses. Not Izzy's usual type but Clary was smirking so what did he know?
Alec went straight for the beer clearly looking for someone, not bothering to grace Jace with a goodbye or explanation.
Only Clary stood by his side, probably expecting him to prove himself as a party animal.
So, taking a page out of Alec's book he went straight for the beers, opening it for her and dropped her off in front of Sebastian Verlac- who was trying to get her attention for the last ten minutes.
Then he proceeded to find the most secluded corner and hide in it. But of course he had a total of 5 minutes of quiet and peace scrolling through his phone before he was surrounded. A mix of girls and boys, mostly girls. Two sat themselves on his immediate left. One sat on the coffee table in front of him, so close their knees where touching.
"Jace!" It was Mary, a nice girl but she clearly had one drink too many. "I'm so glad you came!"
"Jace?" the girl on his left asks "the student body president?" She leans in, as if studying but everyone can tell she just wants to get closer to him. "You look different when you wear shirts that fit."
It was true that Jace tended to wear clothes that his his body and that he did look astoundingly sexy in his fitted black shirt.
The girl in front of him who was wearing a bikini, or something close to it smiled "Good boy gone bad? That' sexy."
"I'll say."
He whips around to see Clary's face inches from my face.
She smirks at him, "20 bucks" she gives me a nod of acknowledgment.
"Red!"I make a nickname for her on the spot, "Where have you been? You haven't answered a single one of my texts."
Before she can call him on his shit Jace jumps over the couch and pull her away. Calling a 'see ya' over his shoulder.
Clary lets him lead him out of their eyesight, but as soon as he passes a crowd of people she pulls away and scowls venomously, "Is there a reason that you left me with the biggest creep in high school?" She was livid, her face heating up to match her hair. "Is this some sort of plan? Try to disarm me with your good boy innocence then to sell me off to the biggest creep in school? How much did he pay you?"
"Sebastian?" She blinks at his stupid question and he blanches with horror upon his realization. "I-oh god-i'm so sorry. I really thought you liked him back. I lied," Jace rambled looking at her earnestly- imploring her to understand- "I'm not a party animal, this is my first party. I really thought Sebastian was just some jock with a crush. I didn't think that he was- oh lord, did he try something? I may be a gentleman but i'm willing to make a few exceptions for-"
"I can take care of myself" Clary cut him off "And... I believe you."
At this moment when she was smiling a little grimly up at him and he was staring down at her, eyes wide- Sebastian comes and put his groping hands on Clary's ass.
Jace doesn't think it through.
He didn't even think.
He just punched his stupid face with such force that he stumbled back and away from Clary. Jace pulls her away, ignoring Sebastian's screaming.
The door slams shut behind them, Jace's eyes were dark with anger and irritation.
He softens catching her stare at him, "I'm sorry. For ditching you and letting that creep near you. I-I really had no idea. I'm not a party animal. I'm a nerd. A goody two-shoes. I am uptight and I had no idea what I was doing in there. And holy heck does punching really hurt this much? Or did I do it wrong?"
"You did it right. You have soft baby hands."
She doesn't laugh at him, she just leads him to his car and presses herself against him. She pull his head down slowly-making sure he knew what she was going to do- and kisses him. Jace's cheeks were flushed and he let her take the lead. His lips following hers.
She pulls away from him and smiles darkly, "You are good looking, intelligent and this your first party. Despite it being your first party you got yourself a crowd and involved in a physical confrontation."
"What a resume." He snarks, his big hands still on her tiny waist.
"You would know all about those" she fires back.
"Naturally"
"You are a natural."
"A natural what?"
She doesn't answer him, "You are also very corruptible. Who knew the choir boy could casually hook up with a practical stranger? I like you, Jace Herondale. And for that reason only i'm going to allow you to stay in my presence."
Jace studied her, face unreadable, so unreadable Clary actually shifted a bit wondering if she cared him off. Jace was thinking about how she just called their kissing a casual hook-up. He was planning on asking the girl out. But..if he can convince her to take him seriously even better.
"If it pleases you, princess"
...
Clary winces as Jace throws another perfect punch. His used to be soft hands tougher than bricks. And definitely more painful than that.
The people groaning on the floor only testify to that.
"Okay boy, give the poor losers a break." Valentine, her father and the head of the Shadowhunter Mafia, exclaims gleefully.
He steps over a pained girl and walks straight for Jace.
"You can marry my daughter!"
Clary coughs but turns red "He was actually performing to join the...community."
Valentine steps back, "He'll have to prove his loyalty first."
Jace's smile sent shivers through her spine, "I can do that."
..
The Lightwoods were eating pizza a few rooms over when they reappeared.
"Anyone die?" Alec asks without looking up from his pizza.
"No."
"Almost" Clary admitted.
Jace just sighs and sits, grabbing her waist and dragging her to sit on his lap. Not that she was complaining.
Nope.
"Guess what?" Jace asks them, he was older than when they first met. He was now a Sophomore college student. But the childish wonder never quite left his face. "I can marry Clary, now."
"No, you can't" Clary scoffs "You have to ask me, not my dad"
"No matter how sex- hey! Stop hitting me!" Izzy screeches, glaring at Clary.
Jace hugs Clary into his chest, "Why? Do you want a ring?"
"Yes."
Okay, so same idea. But not quite.
Yes? No?
I liked it.
