Series 2, Episode 43 ~ House of Evidence

There was a screeching noise from all around them before the door behind Nina opened causing a gasp from them all. Before any of them could say anything, Nina turned and ran through the door.

"Stop Running off Nina!" Camilla screamed at her Chosen One, moving to follow after her, however, the door was already shutting.

"Nina!" Fabian screamed as the door shut.

There was a petrifying scream from the other side.

"NINA!" the twins both screamed in unison.

"FABIAN! CAMILLA!" Nina screamed from the other side of the door.

"Nina what is it?!" Fabian screamed back.

"I think there is something in here!" came the muffled screams of Nina.

Fabian glanced to Camilla then to the rest of the Sibuna's. "W-what's the plan?" Alfie asked trying not to move too much because of the webs. "we need a plan! Tell me one of you has a plan?!"

"We haven't finished the task," Camilla turned to Fabian who had the spider on his back. "we need to put the spider in her home too..."

"HELP!"

Fabian's eye's widened as he realised what Camilla meant. He turned to look at the hole in the wall where the spider imprint was. Taking the metal spider from his back and slowly placing each of the legs into holes within it. With each leg the machinal sound from before echoed around them, causing the Sibuna's to realise they must be doing something right.

As Fabian worked Alfie climbed back over to Amber and Patricia, Amber grabbing his hands instantly in worry as they watched Camilla climb her way to the door Nina was trapped behind. Picking up some wood from the ground as she did.

Fabian turned to his sister as there was one leg left. Camilla nodded at him, "Bora-Berto," she muttered to the wood in her hand, before blowing on it so the burning she had created on the wood turned into flames in her hands. She was ready for anything in the next room.

Fabian put the last spider leg in and turned around.

For a second nothing seemed to happy. "Oh come on..." Amber whispered in fear.

"Don't do this!" Fabian screamed bagging on the spider. All of a sudden the webs started to move impossibly fast into the walls. Where there was once a challenge there was now an empty room. Fabian rushed over to his sister as the door with the web on it slid open slowly, from the sounds behind her Alfie, Amber and Patricia were also rushing over.

As the door opened, Camilla rushed into the darkroom. Grabbing Nina and pulling her behind her and (hopefully) into Fabian's arms as she lifted her burning branch aloft to see the room. There was no beast or anything in the room, causing Camilla's shoulders to drop in relief, letting the burning branch to drop to the ground to burn itself out.

"I am not afraid to avadra kedrvra you if you don't stop wandering off!" Camilla told Nina as she stepped back into the light of the web room task, pointing her finger at Nina who was in Fabian's arms. Camilla ran her hand through her hair, "There is a reason I go through the doors first! It's to make sure everyone else walks back out of them!" the worry and distress of possibly almost losing Nina was clearly heard in her voice. Camilla's mind going a million miles a minute as she imagined the worst-case scenario with not only Nina but with any of the Sibuna's. Camilla refused to lose any of them.

Camilla felt herself being pulled into a hug and looked up to see herself in an Amfie sandwich as her two friends instantly recognised Camilla's overthinking spiral. The girl had taken the idea of her being a protector to heart and they both knew she didn't think of herself as simply Nina's protector but as their protector also. So unknown to Camilla Alfie and Amber (and Fabian when he wasn't focused on Nina) had taken it upon themselves to be her protector in return. Yes, they couldn't throw fireballs or anything, but Camilla didn't need that kind of protection. Camilla needed emotional protection, a support team who always had her back - and they could do that for the protector.

After making sure Nina was okay the Sibuna's all stepped into the next tunnel.

"Keep an eye out for any weird magic stuff okay," Camilla warned them all as she led the group.

"Okay...um, how do I differentiate weird magic stuff from your normal magic stuff?" Alfie asked instantly causing Patricia to sent the boy a smile.

"This is creepy..." Amber spoke up from next to Camilla. The blonde refused the let go of her best friends' hand, and if that meant going first then so be it.

"it's way creepier when you can only see its eyes." Nina added as they all looked at the stone creature in the middle of the next task room. "and you think it's alive."

It was huge and shaped like some sort of serpent demon.

"You seriously need to man up Nina..." Alfie teased slightly as Fabian and Camilla stepped forward to examine the statue further.

"Alfie behind you!" Patricia screamed tapping his shoulder causing the boy to let out a high-pitched scream.

There were funnels for liquid around it that then would collect and mix together at the feet of the beast before travelling down a small bank towards the door. Around the wall's bottles were situated full of different liquids inside – none of them labelled of course because that would be way to easy. Great, this was a potion task and Camilla didn't need to guess who was going to be forced to complete it... little miss Hogwarts.

"Chemicals, no labels..." Fabian spoke as he wandered over to a shelf with Nina behind him.

"Of course, there isn't any labels, because that would be too easy." Camilla sassily told her brother from where she stood in front of the statue. Fabian pulling a face at Camilla's comment but he could read between her words. The girl knew she'd have to do this task and she was petrified to get it wrong.

Nina picked a bottle up and giving it a slight sniff. "this smells familiar," Nina's voice caused Fabian to turn away from his sister and look at the girl next to him, "I can't quite put my finger on it... does it smell like Christmas?" Nina asked lifting the bottle for Fabian to smell too.

"I wasn't scared," Alfie mumbled to Camilla as he walked around the statue, "I was just on high alert. Which we should all be on by the way,"

"Eh... sure, whatever Alfie," Patricia spoke up in a disbelieving tone before she looked back at the statue from next to Camilla, "Right so Rutter's?" she asked waiting till Fabian had rushed over to stand next to his sister, both twins giving her an expectant look as they waited for her next question, "this freaky lion head serpent thing?" Patricia gestured to the statue.

"Sekhmet," The twins spoke as one, causing Patricia to look at them for more information because she had no clue what that meant.

"Goddess of War and healing," Fabian explained simply.

"The daughter of Ra and who has other names such; The One Before Whom Evil Trembles," Camilla excitedly continued, "She is one of my Favourite Goddesses."

Fabian laughed slightly at Camilla's excitement and threw an arm around her shoulder and pulled her in for a hug as the looked over the statue. Camilla claimed she hated all this Egyptian stuff but every now and then the girl would find some badass female goddess and she'd be hooked back in like the rest of her family.

"Look..." Nina pointed to the side of the statue as she joined the rest of the Sibuna's, "there's openings here, and there's this channel..." she pointed to the floor and walked to the door. Camilla having already spotted this along with Fabian so the twins remained by the statue discussing Camilla's favourite goddess together in whispers. "the door has some kind of goo on it." Nina added with a disgusted shiver, "it must be there to hold it in place."

"So we've got a big bunch of chemicals, six snakeheads that go to a mixing chamber- " Fabian started.

"-that lead straight to the door with a weird goo on it," Camilla concluded.

"So, maybe we put all the chemicals into the tubes and abracadabra they magically open the door." Nina offered.

"Okay, whatever you do we don't mix all the chemicals!" Camilla quickly blurted in fear. "that would be less abracadabra and more huge explosion!"

"So, we need to find the right 6 chemicals." Fabian spoke up, "it's a bit late for science experiments anyway, so let's get to bed." He told them all causing nods all round.

Alfie, Patricia and Amber were about to turn back when Nina let out a gasp and pointed to the wall, "Guys! The taste of the great bitter lake," she read from the writing on the wall. "it's a riddle,"

"I bet it's a riddle to the ingredient we need to put into the jar." Camilla grinned excitedly.

"Here's another one!" Nina ran to another wall as the twins looked at one another, before glancing around. There were riddles on every wall. They just needed to figure out what ingredient the riddles meant.

"Let's take pictures and we can figure out what these mean tomorrow..." Camilla spoke up as Nina ran from wall to wall, "I am needing my bed desperately." Fabian chuckled from beside her and Nina nodded, the three of them taking pictures of the two riddles closest to them, before turning to join the rest of the Sibuna's in going to bed.

Camilla had written down all the riddles and had at least 4 grimoires and her laptop out in the study hall as she tried to figure out what they all meant. Figuring out the ingredients were going to be one thing, figuring out what bottles where which was the next task but Camilla was trying not to think too hard about that.

"Have you found anything yet?" Nina asked once again, looking over Camilla's shoulder at her notebook. The girl had been asking the same question ever since Camilla had sat down 30 minutes before, after questioning the grimoires which she couldn't read due to them being either in Arabic or in hieroglyphics. Fabian could almost hear Camilla grinding her teeth together in frustration, looking up from one of the grimoires he had been reading in interest (more to see if he could understand Camilla's magic any better to help support his sister) just in time to see her pinched the bridge of her nose.

"no, and I don't think you're helping by breathing down my neck!" Nina could hear the emphasis on those last words and leaning away from her with a sigh.

Fabian sent Camilla a sigh as she handed over the paper so he could explain what was going on the other Sibuna's who all sat down (Bar Alfie who was practising his Ping Pong skills behind them – badly) as Nina leant away from Camilla who had snapped at her. "these are the riddles Nina found, and Camilla is currently trying to work on solving."

"Go team Hogwarts," Amber teased causing Camilla to look around before throwing a ball of paper at her, making the paper turn into delicate pink flower petals as it hit Ambers face causing the girls to laugh.

"I am not a witch Ambs," Camilla told her with a wink.

"No, you are magic," Amber retorted with a proud smile to her honoree sister, "Don't ever apologize for that"

"We think these are clues," Nina spoke up bringing the conversation back to the point of the Sibuna meeting, pointing to the paper Fabian handed back to his sister who was using his leg as a lean as she worked from the floor, "to the chemicals we need to use. We have six riddles, there are six funnels... so there has to be six ingredients,"

"The first one was easy for us –" Camilla pointed to herself and Fabian, "the taste of the great bitter lake. It's a real lake in Egypt, we've visited it once."

"The water is salty, that's what makes it bitter." Fabian finished for Camilla.

"So, the bitter taste is salt..." Nina repeated.

Patricia interrupted raising her hand, "Sodium Chloride," she corrected instantly, "Sweetie made me copy out the periodic table remember," she explained as she got confused looks from all the Sibuna members, bar Alfie who was too busy trying to find the ping pong ball that had gone flying across the room.

"Okay," Nina smiled watching Camilla scribbled Sodium Chloride in her small neat handwriting under the first riddle. "so, we have one, only five to go."

"You know what we could do?" Alfie paused his mad Ping Pong practice to lean on the couch behind Nina and Fabian, "we could bring samples of the chemicals up from the tunnels and try to identify them in the chemistry lab." The Sibuna's all turned to look at him in shock. Mainly because it was an amazing idea.

"You came up with that while bouncing the ball...really badly?" Fabian asked the boy in amazement.

"Yep." Alfie shrugged it off with ease, before hitting the ball. Amber nudged Camilla with her foot and she nodded, clicking her flingers causing the ball to turn invisible. Alfie looking around for the now 'lost' ball perplexed.

Camilla hadn't had a shared dream with her Chosen One for a while, so when she was drawn into Nina's dream she knew to be on edge. Nina was dreaming about the library, but there were things missing in the middle where the displays normally stood and there was a red eery glow about the whole place. Camilla watched from the upper floor as Nina picked up a book from one of the shelves and wandered back to her blanket where more books were set out. Clearly, she was researching something. What fun exciting dreams Nina had.

Before long Senkara appeared in her black demonic glory, Camilla tried to shout out but nothing was coming from her mouth. Clearly, she was to watch this interaction and learn something from it.

"I know your name," Nina told the ex-ruler, "Senkara... You're the forgotten Ruler, aren't you?"

Senkara didn't seem surprised they had learned of who she was, in fact, she looked pleased. "Forgotten only by history, my enemies would never forget me. Not even in death." This comment caused Camilla to snort and the spirit glanced up at her, causing Camilla to wave her fingers in her direction. The Protector couldn't wait for the day she could forget about Senkara, and she was sure Fabian would be more than happy to make sure their mother re-named her finding after someone else – once this was all over of course. Senkara's focus went back to Nina, "Watch the timepiece Chosen One. Time runs away from you. The Raven is watching."

"The Raven?" Camilla and Nina spoke as one. Camilla knowing instantly the bitch meant Victor, if she knew of Victor then the man was in trouble. She needed to warn him and soon.

"Victor..." Nina whispered in understanding, unlike Camilla she wasn't wanting to rush to protect the caretaker, she assumed that he was their opponent in this race. They needed to get to the mask first. Or who knows what would happen to them.
