Quinn was struggling with her bag as she walked upstairs to the bullpen for work. She knew she had put some flashcards to go through on her break so she could revise for a test she had coming up next week. She put her purse down on her desk.

"What the hell is that?" She asked as Kevin put up a picture of Kelly and wrote Vehicular Homicide above it.

Erin stood up and added a question mark at the end of it.

"We don't know what happened yet" Erin Said handing the pen back to Kevin.

"I think we've got a pretty good idea" Jay said shaking his head.

"If it was you wouldn't you want the benefit of the doubt?" Erin asked folding her arms.

"If I got drunk and then got behind the wheel and killed a little girl, I wouldn't deserve it" Jay replied.

Quinn looked at the board at the rest of the information on there.

"Kelly would never do that" She said shaking her head.

Hank walked out from the interview room.

"Ok" He said "I want everyone looking for witnesses who can either put Kelly Severide behind the wheel or clear him, we need to build a timeline. Atwater the Mom is out of surgery I want you to go to med"

"Just to put it out there" Jay said "Severide has a history of substance abuse, I don't think giving blood and getting drunk is enough to make you black out, so he could have been on something else"

"I had no idea you were a medical expert" She said raising an eyebrow.

"You moved on quickly" Jay muttered.

Hank could see Quinn was about ready to pop off so he walked in front of the board demanding everyone's attention.

"Severide is a first responder, we owe it to him and 51 to keep an open mind" He said.

Quinn gave Kim a small smile as she made her way upstairs for her first day in intelligence. Quinn excused herself and went downstairs.

Trudy was on the computer at the front desk.

"Is Kelly really in lock up?" She asked leaning against the desk.

"Yes" Trudy said looking up from the screen "And no you can't see him, law student doesn't count as lawyer"

"I was just wondering if he's ok" she said tapping her fingers on the desk "I know you can't break protocol"

"He'll be fine" Trudy told her "If someone else did this, then they'll find them"

"I'm heading to the vending machine" she said, "Do you want anything?"

"I'm good thanks" Trudy said holding up her sandwich.

Quinn walked back towards the vending machines and then carried on down and around the corner to the holding cells. She walked along to the end cell. Kelly was lay on the bed, a nasty cut on his forehead. He sat up when he saw her.

"What are you doing here?" He asked.

"Not so loud" She hissed "I'm not supposed to be here"

Kelly walked over to her and put his hands on the bars.

"I didn't do this" He told her.

"I know" She reassured him "Did you ask for a lawyer?"

"No" He said "I didn't do anything, why would I ask for a lawyer"

"Kelly this is serious" She told him "Don't tell them anything else without getting a lawyer, Erin and Hank are on your side but it'll come down to the States Attorney if they don't find something solid, you need to be smart about this"

"Ok" Trudy said standing behind her "I gave you five minutes now you have to go"

Quinn bit her lip as she turned around to face her feeling embarrassed about being caught out.

"I've been a cop for over 20 years, and I've known you since you were 16, you think I can't see what's going through your head?" Trudy asked hands on her hips.

"I'm sorry" She said before turning to Kelly "They'll make sure you're ok and I'll make some calls for you, in case you change your mind"

Kelly looked scared and defeated. She had never seen him that way before. She didn't want to leave him as she walked back out towards the front desk with Trudy.

She decided to drive over to the firehouse on her lunch break and see how they were doing. And what they were doing.

Everyone seemed on edge when she got there. According to Gabby Chief Boden had been on the phone all day as well. Mouch had managed to get in to see Kelly as well.

Quinn sat down with Gabby and Matt in his quarters.

"How is he?" Matt asked as she sat on the bed beside Gabby.

"Bad" She admitted "And I'm worried about him"

"God this week just keeps getting worse" Gabby said putting her head in her hands.

"What's going on?" She asked putting a hand on Gabby's shoulder.

Gabby explained to her that Louie's biological father had come back into the picture and was planning on fighting them for custody. Quinn had seen Gabby since she had taken Louie in. The love she had for that boy was just like he was her own. She couldn't imagine what they must be going through. It sounded like one of those situations where there were no winners, but she would always help her friend.

"I don't suppose you know any good family lawyers?" Gabby asked hopefully.

"I actually do" She told her taking out her notepad and pen and copying down a number "Julia is amazing, I met her when I was working at my last job"

"Thank you" Gabby said putting her arms around her as the bells went off.

"We need to find Kelly a good lawyer, I don't know how we're going to afford it" Matt said putting his head in his hands "They know Kelly, why can't they just release him while they investigate?"

"I'm guessing the State's attorney wouldn't want to risk it coming across like favoritism" She told him

Quinn made her way back to the precinct as the bells went off at the firehouse. Half the team were out everyone else was chasing up leads but so far it wasn't looking good.

"You know he didn't do it right?" She asked Erin while she wrote out some search warrants for a lead.

"I'm keeping an open mind" Erin reassured her.

"If it's at a point where he needs a lawyer" She said leaning against Erin's desk "let me know and I'll call my Father"

"Why would you call him?" Erin asked wide eyed looking up at her.

"Because I know his lawyer got him off with some major charges and I can convince him to cover it" She replied quietly.

"Are you talking blackmail?" Erin hissed back.

"If I was in a really bad spot what would you do for me?" She asked cocking her head to the side.

"I see your point" Erin nodded "You really like him huh?"

"He's a good guy" She said rolling her eyes "I'd be there for any of my friends, you know that"

"I know I know" Erin said "Ok if it comes to it then I'll tell you, but I don't think it will, just make sure Hank doesn't hear you talking like that"

Quinn looked over at Hank's office. She knew Hank had shown up at her parent's house when they found out she had been kicked out. Apparently, it had been quite the confrontation. Hank had said he would kill Richard if he ever tried to get in her life again.

Kelly was still in custody and they still hadn't found any leads to free him. But she had to pick up Cami from her Cheerleading practice.

Cami came running over her curly high ponytail bouncing on top of her head as she ran. She looked adorable in her little uniform.

"Mom can we get pizza tonight?" Cami asked.

"Sure" She replied putting a hand on her back as they walked towards the car.

Cami looked like she wanted to question why Quinn was agreeing to a takeaway mid-way through the week, but she was too smart to question it.

They sat up and did homework and then Quinn just put a movie on. She was too stressed to study. She knew Kelly had been transferred from holding so she was steeling herself to have to see her Father in the morning.

She jumped as her phone buzzed beside her. She had never felt so relieved. Erin had told her that they had found and gotten a confession from the people who had stolen Kelly's car and gotten into the crash. Erin reassured her that she would pick him up in the morning because Quinn had classes all day.
