A/N: Unhappy: If you don't like it then why did you read? Kovu was already creepy (for me at least) when he first went to the Pride Lands as a teen/young adult. Did you not see the expressions he gave after Simba accepted him into the Pride in Simba's Pride? They were (at least for me) creepy looking. He was already suspicious. And Kovu is not really a creep. It's just the pride's paranoia, even Chaka and Kopa's paranoia. So no need to freak out. Kovu is out with Kiara at the moment. And if you find it uncomfortable, then don't read the chapter, or the story even. It's that simple. There's a reason this fic is Rated T. I have no idea how old you are because this is not suited for people under 13 (unless if they feel comfortable reading it under 13 then it was their choice to read it). And there is a reason this story is called "Troubling Times". There are going to be doubts, paranoia, and all other stuff. Again, if you find this uncomfortable, then please do not read this. I'm not forcing you to read this, you have every right to not read this, and I accept that and I just move on. Please refrain from reviewing if you find something you don't like because I am a very sensitive person when it comes to criticism. I totally accept criticisms yes, but I don't accept rude ones. Again, please refrain from reviewing if you don't like something and just find something else to do like read other people's fanfic or other stuff you gotta do. Thank you. (What I wrote at the top was my opinion on how I saw Kovu getting accepted into the Pride by Simba in SP. You might not have the same opinion as me, but at least respect my opinion. That's all to be said. Period.)
Anyways, here is Chapter 27 for you all! As always, go to Chapter 1 for disclaimers. Without further or do, here is Chapter 27.
Chapter 27: New Friend? Part 2
Kali spun around and saw a lion standing behind her. He was a handsome golden brown lion with golden eyes and a golden-brown mane. "Oh my god don't do that," Kali growled, immediately taking stepping back in fear.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you," the male said, feeling bad that he had scared Kali. "But seriously what are you doing out here all alone?"
"I just needed to take a walk," Kali said as she stopped backing away. "To clear my head about this new lion that was recently accepted our pride yesterday evening. And I'm sorry for the way I reacted. It's just that I get too scared of rogues too easily."
"No it's ok," the male said with a smile. "I get why you reacted the way you did. I'm the outsider here so it's understandable that you'd react the way you did. But about this new lion, you were talking about. What's wrong with him?"
"My older brothers, Chaka and Kopa don't like this new lion that much," Kali explained. "They said that this lion is suspicious and doubts and suspicions are starting to rise. And it's only been day one that he's been accepted into the pride by my step-dad."
"Why would your step-dad accept this lion right away?" the lion wondered. "I mean I am a rogue myself but why would he accept him that fast?"
"Beats me," Kali said with a shrug. "My brothers haven't told me much about this lion. Besides the fact that they don't trust him at all."
"Well I mean they do have every right to not trust this lion," the lion pointed out. "Afterall he is the outsider too."
"I guess your right," Kali said. "But I'd like to ask you a question. Why are you here in the Pride Lands?"
"I'm in the Pride Lands?" the male asked, the surprise clear in his voice.
"Yes you are," Kali confirmed. "Look around you." The male then looked around and realized the beautiful green grass around him. Then he saw Pride Rock.
"What is that?" the asked, pointing to Pride Rock.
"That's Pride Rock," Kali confirmed. "That's where we pride members sleep at."
"You guys sleep in there?" the male asked shocked. Kali nodded her head. "So does the king and queen?" he asked again.
"Yep," Kali replied. "We've been sleeping there ever since the first king came here and found the Pride Lands." Kali was referring to Jabir, who found the Pride Lands, was also the first king of the Pride Lands and is also Mohatu's great-great-great-grandfather.
"Wow that's cool," the male said with amazement.
"It is cool," Kali said. "We're just grateful that we have some shelter to sleep at for the night. The night can be a bit cold at times."
"Yes, I agree," the male said. "The night can be cold."
"By the way what's your name?" Kali asked after a few seconds of silence.
"My name's Jelani," the lion said. "What's yours?"
"The name's Kali," Kali said. "It's nice to meet you Jelani." Kali then suddenly felt herself blushing after saying that last part. Luckily she was able to hide before Jelani could see it.
"Well it's nice to meet you, Kali," Jelani said. "I'm-" But before he could continue a voice said, "Mom? What are you doing out here?" Kali gasped and spun around to see Nadra standing there.
"Nadra what in the world are you doing out here?!" Kali gasped.
"Came looking for you," Nadra said. "But you didn't answer my question. What are you doing out here?"
"Nadra last time I checked I was the mother around here," Kali said with irritation. "And I ask the questions not give the answers. And to answer your question I was taking a walk to clear my head. Until I saw-" But Kali was cut off by her daughter.
"Saw Jelani here," Nadra finished. Kali's eyes went wide with shock when she heard her daughter finish the sentence.
"H-How did you know?" Kali stammered trying not to sound nervous in front of her daughter.
"I hid behind a nearby bush," Nadra said with a smirk, gesturing to the bush she hid at. "I heard what you said about that lion we saw at midnight."
"You did?" Kali said her eyes still wide. She tried to think of an excuse but Nadra stopped her.
"Yeah, I'm not gonna buy your lies mom," Nadra said, knowing full well that her mother was going to lie. "I already know you're trying to think of an excuse right now."
"Fine you win," Kali grumbled. "It is true that I was talking about that lion we saw at midnight yesterday. And it is true that I was interacting with an outsider."
"Well actually I ran into your mother," Jelani suddenly said. "I was the one that started to interact with her. If you're not ok with it then I'll-" But Jelani was cut off by Nadra.
"No I'm fine with it," Nadra said with a small smile. "As long as you don't hurt her then I'm fine. If my mother wants to have someone to talk to then it's fine with me." Nadra looked at her mother when she said that last part. "However," she continued slowly. "I need to be told that you're going to interact with someone outside the Pride Lands Mom. Otherwise, I will come and look for you. Maybe even Grandma Nala and Grandpa Simba will come looking for you."
"Oh, honey I'll make sure I'll tell you," Kali said, nuzzling her daughter. "And I promise you that this male won't hurt me."
"Well good," Nadra said, returning the nuzzle. "I don't know what I'd do if I lost you."
"Well if that's the case I'll get going now," Jelani said suddenly. "Your step-father is probably going to find out why in the world I'm here and he would kill me at the spot."
"My step-dad doesn't usually patrol around here," Kali pointed out. "But you can go now." With that Jelani began to leave. But then suddenly Kali called, "Wait! Can I ask something?" Jelani turned back to face Kali. "Can we stay in contact with each other?" Kali asked.
"Sure thing," Jelani said with a smile. "But where do you want us to meet?"
"Meet here tomorrow before sunrise," Kali said. "My step-dad doesn't wake up at that time so meeting here before sunrise should be ok."
"Ok then Kali," Jelani said. "See ya tomorrow then."
"See ya," Kali called as Jelani began to walk away.
"Mom are you sure that Jelani is really trustworthy?" Nadra asked once Jelani was gone. "I don't want him to be.. ya know like the lion we saw outside the royal cave at midnight."
"I pray that he's trustworthy," Kali said. "But who knows. I hope he doesn't do anything bad. But for now, he was ok to me."
"We should head back now mom," Nadra said. "Uncle Kopa and Uncle Chaka said that Grandma Nala will be back in a few minutes."
"Agreed," Kali said, finally realizing that they needed to head back to Pride Rock. "Let's go otherwise Zazu will come and find us." With that Kali put her daughter on her back and took off for Pride Rock.
A/N: Oh Kali when will you learn that rogues are not good for you... well I suppose this one isn't as bad as Mwoga though.
Man, I hope I didn't have to write this but I have to. Please refrain from reviewing if you see something, uncomfortable, something you dislike, and other stuff that you may not be a fan of. I've already seen some guest reviews review rude stuff to other people's stories. I'm not going to state their names, but seriously though, please refrain from reviewing something if you dislike it. There are people out there who can be sensitive. Like seriously, move on and do something else. I am fully aware that some people may not like my story, and I totally accept it. Just please refrain from saying it in a review. I'm a sensitive person when it comes to criticism. So please try to be nice when you review stuff, or just don't review at all and don't read the story at all. And please remember that this is my story. I have the right to do stuff in my story, like add stuff like cliffhangers, and all the other stuff that people would always use in their stories. Period.
I am totally aware that there are a lot of Kovu fans out there. I am one of those non-few Kovu fans. Please respect the fact that I don't really like Kovu that much. You might like him, but I do not. Please respect it. I don't need flak or hate for the fact I dislike Kovu. If you do send me hate and flak, I will block you. So be careful what you say, and this also applies to guests who review my work, who I can't even block at all, but can accept reviews since I have the moderator on.
Anyways, I hope I didn't waste any of your time reading all of that. It's just that people can be annoying as hell and just can't seem to follow simple rules. It's already in my nerves. Besides that, I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Not much happened, besides Kali meeting a new rogue... who seems rather nice. But anyway, the chapter is over. See you all later in Chapter 28!
