Chapter 31

4 Years Later

Lucas took his last picture and spoke to the remaining fans. The opening day for his new novel couldn't it gone better. He loved and appreciated his loyal fanbase. Checking the time. He thanked everyone for coming then left out the bookstore backdoor.

He got into his car and drove to the rooftop resturant. During these past few years the small town had gone modern and went under alot of construction which brought new business. Stores and resturants. Along with jobs.

Lucas took his time parking and getting through the doors.

He walked towards the front desk.

"Reservations for two Scott." He said.

The waitress smiled. "Right this way Mr. Scott. She's already seated awaiting you." The woman said. Leading the way towards the outdoor seating area.

Lucas thanked the waitress and sat down across from her. Smiling up at her.

"I ordered chips and dip for myself. For you i ordered Chili. Once we're done with this. She'll return with entrée menus. I should ordered dessert first. I'm stress eating."

"I'm still in shock that we are going to be parents. That girl is seriously going to hand over her babies to us. It's a dream come true i can't grasp until it happens. She's 13 weeks along now. "Brooke said.

"We have so much to think about in regard to these babies. Future childcare for starters. We need to figure a design for the nursery. Daycare or being watched by family/friends.? We need to learn baby CPR and how to swaddle."

"I'm looking forward to mommy and me classes. And meeting these babies most of all. What about you Luke.? "Brooke asked.

"He was finally caught and taken into police custody. Link and all he's done can at last be put to rest." Lucas said. Being able to breath somewhat easier now.

Brooke reached over taking his hand in hers.

"Knowing this nightmare is over. That justice can be served. Brings all of us peace of mind. Maybe now you can let go of at least some of the stress and guilt you hold regarding the situation." Brooke suggested.

"Maybe. Let's not allow news of his arrest to spoil our evening." Lucas said.

The couple clinking their glasses. Their wedding rings shining in the fading sunlight.

Awhile Later

Tree Hill Police department

Lucas walked straight for the reception desk.

"I was just wondering if there was any news to report in regards to my daughter.?" He asked.

"We're sorry to have to tell you this Mr. Scott but we have had to close the case. With no leads or her reaching out wanting to come forward. We have to use the resources for other active cases." The officer said.

"Thank you for all the help you've given through the years. I understand and won't come in to intrude asking questions when there is no resolution." Lucas said. Turning from the officers as he left the building.
