Yeah. Wasn't planning on having them meet for a while, but then I noticed it's been like 5 chapters or so since the fast forward lol. I also didn't really know how I wanted them to meet again, but I'm satisfied with this. Stay tuned! I got a lot of ideas, and I've been working on this story lately!
Chapter 31
When Dawn walks back inside the shop, she's quickly greeted by the eager Cheryl. "Mr. Drew Hayden from Hayden Corporation is here!"
"What?" Dawn asks in shock, and Paul's scowl deepens. No. This can't happen. Why is he here? He can't be here now! Not with May across the hall. Frantic, the bluenette and her bodyguard walk deeper into the shop where they instantly take notice of green hair.
Drew seems to see the new arrivals, so he leans back in his seat to flick his hair as a smirk appears on his lips. "Hello, Ms. Dawn."
"Why are you here?" exclaims Dawn. She's too frantic to keep her cool right now. She'll deal with his teasing later.
"To talk about our partnership. Duh." he knowingly replies while closing his laptop to put away. "Unless you're going back on your word, Ms. Dawn?"
The bluenette mentally curses him, so she doesn't notice Cheryl leave as there is knocking on the door. "I don't like unexpected visits, Mr. Drew. If you can wait until I call you-"
"I'm free now, and it seems like you are too." Drew's smirk grows more when he sees how uncomfortable she's getting. Did he really choose the high maintenance Brianna Wakana over the successful hard working Dawn Berlitz? Gosh. Old Drew must have been a piece of work himself then.
"I think you should leave." Dawn narrows her eyes at him while she tries to calm her pounding heart. Please let May be hidden in her shop somewhere until Drew is gone. Please!
"If I leave here today, our deal is off." Drew replies. He doesn't like wasting his time, even if he was the one showing up unexpectedly. If Dawn really wants his business, then she should've been ready the moment she called him last week.
Before the bluenette can respond, they all turn their attention to the new voice entering the room. "Hey, Dawn. You forgot-"
Drew feels an intense ache in his chest, especially as he watches the brunette drop the scarf in her hands. Once Drew's gaze lands on those familiar sapphire orbs, he freezes. It;s as if all time stood still and he doesn't feel the pain in his head and chest anymore. Just who is she, and why does he feel like he knows her?
Turning around quickly, May starts her escape out of the shop. She doesn't know why he's here. Had Dawn set her up? Did Dawn tell him about her? Did Dawn invite him here? May is mentally cursing herself for getting comfortable around Dawn again. She should've known that Dawn and Solidad won't give it a rest. They want May with him no matter what, even if he is married and forgot about her.
Balling her fists up in anger, May nears the door, but a large hand grabs her arm. Please don't let it be him. Please let it be Paul or someone else with large hands. Anyone but him. However, when May turns her head to glare at her capturer, she meets those familiar emerald orbs again.
"Let me go, sir."
Drew blinks at her in confusion. He's not sure why he reached out to her. He had felt compelled to. As soon as he saw those sapphire eyes of hers that remind him of the sapphire he constantly sees during his headaches, something inside him told him he couldn't let her escape. He had gotten out of his seat to prevent her from leaving, but now he's not so sure what to do next.
Fortunately for them both, Dawn interjects by putting her hand on Drew's arm reached out at May. "What are you doing, Mr. Drew?" The bluenette is pleading for him to release May. Please don't let Drew regain his memories from this. May doesn't deserve this heartache anymore!
"Mr. Drew?" Owen nervously asks as he sees Drew's demeanor is unwavering. Drew is finding himself lost in those angry blue eyes of May's.
Dawn looks at Paul who steps up, however Drew releases the woman while shaking his head. "Sorry." the green haired man mutters as he brings the hand up to his head now. Wincing, Drew turns his attention to Owen. "Let's go, Owen." His headache is getting worse, and he doesn't want to be here if he passes out. He'll talk to Dawn another time, but for now, Drew needs to get back to the privacy of his hotel room.
Once Drew and Owen are gone, Dawn worriedly gazes at the quiet brunette still staring at her arm. "May…"
May can't seem to hear her. The woman is stuck in her own trance at that familiar hand. That touch she's missed. The way he looked at her and spoke to her. So he really did forget about her. She must be that insignificant, but that's how everything is supposed to be. She should've never been involved in that world anyway.
"May!"
The shout makes the brunette look up where she spots Dawn's concerned look. May bends down to pick up the dropped scarf before handing it to Dawn. "Uh. You forgot your scarf."
"Are you okay?" Dawn whispers once she grabs the scarf.
May gives her a reassuring smile. "Couldn't be better. I think I'll just go home on my own today."
Before Dawn can say otherwise, May turns to exit the shop. Paul puts a hand on Dawn's shoulder. "You can't control everything."
Of course she knows that! Else she and Paul would already be together. Shrugging off his hand, Dawn turns to the confused Cheryl and the rest of the staff. Obviously, they have no idea what's going on or Dawn's drop in mood. "We're gonna leave today. We'll be back tomorrow."
Nodding Cheryl tells her, "Okay, Ms. Dawn. We look forward to your guidance."
"Thanks, Cheryl." Dawn then leaves the shop with Paul in tow. They've had enough drama for the day, and Dawn just wants to relax in the privacy of her hotel suite.
In Drew's car, he's breathing into a paper bag to try and calm down. Just what was that? Why is his whole body hurting? Gosh, this is terrible, and he just wants to pass out to escape the pain already. Or at least let him vomit, but nothing is happening, so he's just closing his eyes as he tries to relax.
Owen worriedly looks at his boss who keeps refusing a hospital. "Please, Mr. Drew…"
"If you suggest a hospital one more time, I'm firing you!" Drew manages out angrily.
Sighing, Owen tells the driver, "Take us to his hotel quickly please."
To Owen's surprise, Drew pulls out his phone. Despite being very pale and weak, Drew manages to call the one person he trusts the most, though he doubts she'll pick up his call. She never does. However, when the ringing stops, he quickly speaks, expecting it to be her voicemail again. "Solidad, I need help!"
"I heard you cut the funding anyway." Solidad ignores him. She won't come to him. It's not her job anymore. She took that from her.
"Please, Solidad! You're the only one I can trust!" Drew exclaims while clutching his head.
Sighing, Solidad's heart aches hearing his desperate voice. She doesn't know what happened, but she knows she can't do anything about it. "That's what your wife is for, Drew." She knowingly tells him.
"I need you!" he pleads. What happened to them? Why is she treating him like this? How come no one will tell him anything? He hates it! When Solidad doesn't reply, Drew fears she's hung up or will soon. Thus, he quickly says, "I made a deal with Dawn Berlitz, so I won't cut the funding!"
Dawn? Solidad worriedly looks at her eager secretary. What is Dawn doing? The last time Solidad heard from her, Dawn had told Solidad that she was cutting off Hayden Corporation. Solidad had respected Dawn's wishes, so the two women haven't talked in years. How did Dawn hear about the orphanage funds being cut? Unless she was keeping an eye on them too?
"That's good. Well, bye, Drew. Don't call me again." The only reason she picked up was to berate him about the orphanage funding since Harley keeps bringing it up, making her feel guilty. Now that she knows the funding will remain, Solidad can go back to ignoring her former best friend.
"I'll come to Slateport if you keep ignoring me!"
"You won't." Solidad shrugs because she's avoided him plenty of times before when he'd try to catch her.
"Why are you treating me like this? I don't know what I did, and I miss you!" Everything just hurts now, and Drew doesn't care anymore. He hates being left in the dark. He hates losing Solidad. He hates these headaches! When he doesn't hear anything for some time, Drew drops the phone to see Solidad had ended the call. She really hung up on him...again.
What did he do to deserve this? Yes, he was a reckless and terrible son who only wants money and power, but Solidad has always stayed by his side. She was always the one to give him a reality check as well as lectures he'd actually listen to. Did he do something during those three years? Did he sleep with her? He shivers at the thought. No way. He sees her as an older sister.
Fortunately, the pain in his heart overtakes the one in his head, so Drew leans back in his seat as he rests his forehead against the cool glass of the window. This sucks. "Have you found out anything about those three years, Owen?"
"No, sir." the secretary replies. He knows all about Solidad's neglect of Drew. While Owen isn't sure why the public relations coordinator is ignoring the Hayden heir, he does believe she's very bold for doing it. Plus, Owen can see how important Solidad is to Drew. He heard stories about how the two grew up together, and how she's close with the family.
"I just wanna sleep when we get back."
"Okay, sir."
"Just call me Drew, Owen." the green haired man sighs. "We're alone anyway."
"Uh. Okay, Mr. Drew."
"It's Drew, dude." Drew has been trying to get Owen to be more comfortable around him for the past year now, but Owen is such a strict worrywart.
"I can only call you Mr. Drew, sir." the nervous man replies.
Chuckling, Drew smirks at Owen. "You're the only one I can trust now, Owen." Solidad has dropped him. His parents only care about money and power. And he has never felt like he could trust or rely on his wife. He always knew this life would be lonely, but he thought he at least had Solidad's friendship to help with that. However, she really doesn't care for him anymore. He should just move on already.
The secretary blushes from the compliment as he shyly nods. "I will try my best to serve you, Mr. Drew."
"You can start by calling me Drew."
"I can't do that, sir." Owen repeats, making Drew pat his back.
"Gosh, you're funny, Owen. It's why I picked you to be my secretary."
Alola
"He's where?" shouts the angry salmon haired woman.
"Um. That's not all, ma'am." her secretary winces as Brianna's glare intensifies.
"This better be good, Lisa!"
Taking in a deep breath, Lisa avoids Brianna's gaze. "Solidad called him a few weeks ago to tell him to visit the orphanage."
"And you're telling me this now?"
"We just found out about the call recently, ma'am." the timid woman replies.
"I should fire you right now! What else are you hiding from me?" Brianna thought she was going to be enjoying a nice vacation in the tropics paid for by her charming husband. However, here she is hearing about how he's been on a stupid little side business involving the orphanage.
"He visited the orphanage, and now he's in Petalburg discussing business with Berlitz Beauties." Lisa will take the termination now. Working for Brianna pays well, but she hates being mistreated. "The shop Ms. Maple works at is directly across from Berlitz Beauties."
Brianna stands up in a huff. Turning to one of her other secretaries, she orders them, "Book me a flight to Petalburg City right now!" Gosh, Brianna thought all of this was a thing of the past, but if Solidad and Dawn think they can take Drew away from her, they have another thing coming for them. She will make all of those women's lives miserable, including May Maple's!
No one messes with a Wakana and gets away with it. Brianna will show that Drew will still choose her, even after all of these years. There's a reason why he married her despite May's, Solidad's, and Dawn's complaints. There's a reason why they left in defeat as the Wakana family and Hayden family merged. Brianna will just have to remind these naive women of this once more. Drew is hers, and he will always be hers.
