Alex's P.O.V
I shot awake in a bed, but it wasn't my bed. I turned to the alarm clock next to the bed. It's 11 am. Outside I could hear traffic, and I slipped out of bed, pulling back the curtains on the windows. My hands dropped to my sides when I saw where I was. New York City. Not that I didn't like this place, it was one of my favorite places in the world, but how did I get here.
I felt someone's arms wrap around my waist and the person rested their chin on my shoulder. "Good morning, love," Klaus said. I turned around, pushing myself out of Klaus' arms.
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked him.
"I thought you might want to help me convince Finn to come back to Mystic Falls with us," Klaus said, with his ordinarily cocky voice.
"Couldn't you have gotten Rebekah to help you?" I asked him.
"Yes," Klaus said and walked up to me, brushing his hand on my cheek. "But you are much better company than my sister." I looked at his hand through the corner of my eye, then back at him. I took a step to my right and moved around towards the bed.
"Why do you want to find him?" I questioned.
"My family, you and I are still linked," He told me and pulled out a vial of blood from his pocket, "I have Kol, Elijah, Rebekah, and your blood." He placed the vial back into his pocket. "All I need is Finn. Then Bonnie-"
"Wait, Bonnie's helping you?" I asked him in disbelief.
"Not yet, but with a little persuasion, I'm sure she'll come around," Klaus said with a smirk as he took a step towards me and I scoffed at him.
"Unbelievable," I said. "Where's Finn so we can get this over with and go home?" I asked him. Klaus pointed towards the door of the room, and I rolled my eyes. I walked out, and Klaus closed it behind us.
We began to walk down the streets of New York City, looking for Finn. I had my hands stuffed in my pocket as I walked down the street with him. "New York City," Klaus said. "What a place. It's full of people all over, blending and mixing their cultures to create this city." I stayed silent and didn't look at him. Klaus sighed to himself, "Did you like it?"
"Like what?" I asked him in a cold tone.
"The kiss," He responded. "That's what this whole silent treatment is about, right?" He asked, and I stopped in my tracks.
"Has it ever occurred to you once that maybe I'm mad because you kidnapped me, or forced me into going on a trip with you, for the third time in my life?" I asked him. He was about to respond when he heard something, that made him stop. Klaus turned his head to look behind him, and I followed his gaze to see Finn walking down the street in front of us.
"Go to the alleyway," Klaus said to me, without taking his eyes off Finn. "I'll lead him there." I nodded and walked into the closest alleyway.
Finn sped into the alleyway moments later and was shocked to see me. I stood there as if I suspected to find him here, which I guess I did. "Let's not make this any worse than it has to be, Finn."
"You're siding with him?" Finn asked me. "I thought you and your family wanted us dead."
"Yes, but sadly I'm still connected to your family meaning if one of you dies then so do I," I told him. He turned around to see Klaus standing behind him.
"What are you gonna do? Kill me?" Finn asked him.
"Oh yeah, that's right, you've got a death wish. Fine, pathetic, but fine. The thing is, I'm not gonna let you take the rest of us down with you." Klaus explained to him then throws Finn against the wall and watches as he crumples to the ground. Klaus then looked up at me and smirked.
Klaus was driving back to Mystic Falls, while I sat in the passenger's seat, and Finn was vervain in the back, sleeping like a baby. We'd been driving for about six hours, and it was now 5 pm. I pulled out my phone and dialed Damon's number.
"Who are you calling?" Klaus asked me.
"My brothers," I said to him, and the call connected.
" Where were you this morning? " I heard Damon ask me.
"Klaus kidnapped me and took me to New York City, but that's not why I called," I told him.
" Wait! Klaus kidnapped you again? " He asked.
"Yes, shocking I know," I said sarcastically.
"You do realize I'm sitting next to you right?" Klaus asked me, and I looked at him.
"Look, just don't kill Klaus, or anyone his related to," I told Damon as I looked back at the road with a slight smile on my face. I heard the phone begin taken out of his hand.
" Why? " My little brother asked, and I sighed.
"Well, Stefan, if I remember correctly I'm still connected to Klaus and his family. So just put your plans on hold till I'm dis-linked, ok?" I asked him.
" But if your unlink that means he and his siblings are as well, " Stefan explained.
"Then figure out a new plan," I told him. We passed the Mystic Falls sign, and I spoke again, "Look I'll be at Klaus's house in a few minutes, just figure something out where I don't die." I then hung up and sighed. Finn was beginning to wake up.
"Do you think we can never be together?" Klaus asked me, and I could tell he was being serious.
"So long as you keep coming after Elena, and my brother and her friends are willing to lay down their life for her," We pulled up to Klaus' house, and I looked at him. "No, I don't think we can," I said and got out of the car.
Klaus got out as well and pushed Finn into the mansion with a lot of force. Finn looked at Klaus, slightly scared of what he would do. "Get Bonnie and his blood. The sooner I'm unlinked to you and your family the better." I commanded.
"You can't force me to help you," Finn said.
"Oh, I most likely could, but why force when I can persuade?" Klaus said and pointed towards the stairs. It was only then, did I realize Sage was here. She came down the staircase slowly, and Finn looked at her.
"Hello, Finn," Sage said.
"Sage!" Finn exclaimed and rushed towards her. They embraced each other, and I smiled at them.
"See." Klaus said to me as he placed his hand on my lower back, "They can make it work."
"Klaus," I turned to him. I've tried yelling, I've tried running, so let's try saying it to him softly and see if he finally gets the message. "This has nothing to do with you begin an Original. In the end, it comes down to family, and I can't leave mine. They're all I have," I told him.
"You have me." He said.
"I know," I said. "But you don't know me like my brothers do, not to mention we're on two opposite sides of a war." I touched his cheek softly. I gave him a shy smile before leaning up and kissing him. He rested his hands on my waist and deepened the kiss.
He was my happily ever after.
...Sadly I couldn't have it though.
After a moment or two, I pulled away, and we rested against each other's foreheads. "I wish things could be different. I do, because the truth is, you make me happy. A happiness I haven't felt since I was human." I told him and push myself away a bit, but he pulled me into his chest.
"I won't stop fighting." He told me.
"I know that too," I said and finally pushed myself out of the comfort of his arms. "But we need to play the roles we've been given right now. You're the big bad wolf, and I'm your enemy's sister." I walked towards the door. "That's the way it has to be." I sighed to him as I walked out of his mansion before going home.
~At the Boarding House~
I decided to walk back home instead of running. I needed time to think about Klaus. I needed time to decide if I wanted to tell Stefan and Damon about my growing feeling for him and let the cards fall where they may. But I decided against that last idea as I reached my front door.
I walked into the library, to go to my room and change clothes when I saw Caroline and Alaric. They turned to me, and I whistled when I saw Alaric's head. There was a gash wound right above his left eye. "What happened to you?" I asked and then noticed the bottle of slightly brown water on the table in front of him. I walked closer to them. "What's that?"
"Herb's to keep the psychotic murderer in me at bay," Alaric answered, and I looked at him surprised.
"Wait you were the one who killed all those people?" I asked him, and he nodded. Where the hell have I been for the past two days? "Ok, then who gave you that cut?" I asked.
"Rebekah." He answered and I froze. "She came and took Damon."
"Where's Stefan?" I asked.
"Out, didn't tell me where he was going," Alaric replied, and I groaned. I was receiving a call and saw it was Elena. Wait for what? "Excuse me for a moment," I said to them and walked into the parlor room as I answered the incoming call.
" Rebekah has Damon. " Elena said.
"Yeah, I'm aware of that," I told her.
" Well, Stefan doesn't want to save him, he just wants to kill the originals, " Elena explained, and I was shocked.
"Are you-" I stopped myself from yelling in Elena's ear. "Stop him, Elena. My life is still connected to theirs." I then hung up and sped back to Klaus's mansion.
