"So, the Lockwood's really have no idea that these tunnels are underneath their property?" Elena asked as Alaric led her and Sabrina through the old Lockwood cellar.

"Careful where you shine that thing. Bats hate the light," Alaric told her.

Elena lowered her torch in confusion at the comment. "Wait, what?"

"Elena," Damon whispered behind her causing her to gasp from fright.

"God, Damon!"

"Scaredy-cat!" he teased.

"Just ignore him. That's what I do," Alaric sighed standing beside Sabrina.

"So, you really can't get in?" Elena asked turning back to Damon.

"No. Seems even the ancient Lockwood's were anti-vampire."

"What do you mean, ancient?"

He gestured forward at the hole in the wall. "See for yourself."

The walked further into the tunnel, stopping once they got to the entrance of the cave

"Well, this is as far as I get to go."

Alaric and Sabrina walked in ahead. Elena soon followed leaving Damon. "What is all this?" she asked in surprise shining the torch around the walls.

"Well, as far as I can tell, it's a story. In simple, archaeological terms, it's a really, really old story," Alaric began to explain before pointing to an imagine on the wall. "That right there, is the moon cycle. A man, a wolf."

"A werewolf," Elena caught on.

"Yeah, it's the "Lockwood Diaries: Pictionary-Style," Damon added leaning against the cave entrance.

"I don't understand." Elena spoke. "I thought the Lockwood's came here with the Original Founders in the 1860s."

"I don't know. Maybe the Lockwood's did, but according to this wall, these werewolves have been here a lot longer than that."

"How long?" she asked the history teacher.

"Long." Damon got to it before he could.

The silence from Sabrina didn't go unnoticed by Damon. He watched the girl stand still with a look of discomfort on her face. "You sure you want be in there 'Brina? You barely lasted 10 minutes last time."

Damon's comment made the other two turn to look at the girl who was massaging her forehead as she pressed up against the wall.

"Shut up." Sabrina squinted as Elena's torch shone in her face. "Continue," she said sounding slightly irritated while looking at Alaric.

"Names." He moved to show them writing on another part of the wall. "They're not native. They're written in Runic, a Viking script."

"Vikings?" Elena followed his footsteps.

"This name here, I translated it and it reads Niklaus." Sabrina looked up at the scripture as a familiar pounding pain formed in her head.

"Klaus." She closed her eyes as Elena's voice echoed in her head

"And Elijah...and Rebekah."

It was like a switch flipped in mind as she held on to the wall for support becoming unsteady again.

"It's written in Elder Futhark, It's one of the oldest form of the runic alphabet." Sabrina walked towards them taking the torch from Alaric. "The names of the Original family, including Mikael," she pointed the light on his name on the wall.

"As in, the vampire hunter who knows how to kill Klaus?" Elena questioned.

"Yep. I now like to call him "Papa Original." Sabrina sighed looking over her shoulder at Damon.

"It's the story of the original family and I think I know how to decipher it."

•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•

Pictures of the cave markings lay scattered on Alaric's kitchen island. Sabrina stood opposite the three as she began to explain what she knew.

"When I first came to Mystic Falls the first few visions I would get were of its history. And I don't mean the stuff from memorials and Founder's day but its supernatural history. That's how I knew about Elijah and Klaus. That's what this all of this is, the story of the original family."

"Great, so you can piece it together?" Damon asked.

"Yes...and no," she replied with a slight hesitation.

"Something this big is hard to recollect. I've told you before, large parts of my visions are like images from a dream. It's not like calling up Elena when I see she's out looking for a vampire." Elena frowned at the reference.

"Sorry only example I could think off," she apologised at the Gilbert's reaction before resuming talking to all of them. "This is a huge chunk of history that ties into so much more."

"That's fine, you don't have to tell us. With these images you can just show us," Alaric suggested.

"When I left with Klaus and Stefan, whatever linked me to this town weakened. I didn't care too much because honestly, I though good riddance." Sabrina twiddled with her fingers.

"It's all murky in my head and I can't get it on the tip of my tongue." She looked down in disappointment.

"Whatever you know is still in there," Alaric's voice said making her look up. "We won't give up on this."

Sabrina smiled as they both got to work on the images. The two ignored Damon and Elena who were practicing combat training in the background.

"'Ghost of Christmas Past' Mason Lockwood set up the cave and led us to a weapon that can kill Klaus," Damon said as Elena took the stake from him.

"Yeah, but doesn't Mikael have a weapon?" she asked still engaged in a practice fight.

"Probably means the wall will lead us to Mikael, who we have already found...and lost," Damon answered grabbing hold of Elena. "Bang! You're dead!"

The two walk over the Alaric and Sabrina who tuned out most of their play fight.

"These images at the very least might tell us what that weapon is." Alaric watched as Sabrina bore her eyes into one of the pictures.

"Then all we have to do is find out what they mean," Elena suggested.

"Fine! Fine! If I am being irritatingly optimistic like you three, well two of you plus the catatonic one over there," he said nodding his head over at Sabrina. "How do you suppose we do that?" Damon questioned.

"Well, if the story is about the Original Family living here, then we go straight to the source."

Sabrina lowered the picture she was holding once she heard what Elena was planning. "You can't be serious, not her!"

Thankfully google is here to help decipher these images

Sabrina sat observing Alaric analyse the pictures. She tapped her fingertip on the counter top and bit the inside of her mouth as he moving to a post-it-note, writing 'vampire' on it before placing it on the picture with a circle and two fangs.

Sabrina stopped tapping and sat up. "What?" he asked noting her chance in posture.

Taking the post-it off she placed it on another picture that was similar but had a sun on it. Grabbing the pen from his hand she wrote 'werewolf' on the sticky tab and placed it on the first picture.

"How do you know that?" Sabrina shrugged in response, picking up another picture and idly labelling it with 'curse'.

Getting up from her seat she stood up and paced between the island and the cupboard with a picture of a tree. Placing it on the counter top before sticking a post-it that said 'white oak tree.' Alaric watched her while she grabbed another picture and began starting at it like she did with the other ones. His attention turned when Elena came in.

"If we can figure out a way to kill Klaus, Stefan will be free from his compulsion." Alaric turned to her motioning her to quiet down by putting a finger to his lips.

They both turned to see Sabrina moving between the small space she had. Finishing the conversation quietly. She put her phone away. "How are we doing?" she asked him in a hushed voice.

"It's like she's on autopilot."

Not paying attention to the pair Sabrina labelled the picture of a symbol of a face with the post-it 'vampirism spell' and a picture of a boat as 'sailors' "You know I can here you," she said turning to the two. "Rebekah?"

"She'll come around."

You're sure about that? I mean a thousand-year-old vampire, I'm sure, has learned the art of patience," added Alaric.

"She's a thousand-year-old vampire, who's joined the cheerleader squad...There is a whole different set of rules that play here, Ric. I got this." Elena held up her phone, showing the text from Rebekah who agreed to meet.

"Anything I should know before seeing her?" she asked Sabrina.

Sabrina opened her mouth to speak, but something came out. Letting out a groan of frustration she turned back to looking at another picture while muttering to herself.

"I'd suggest go now before you give her another headache," Alaric lightly chuckled at Sabrina's outburst.

Elena nodded and walked out leaving the two alone.

"It's not fair! I know all this but I just can't-"

"It's okay, it's okay," he reassured walking up to her. "We've made a lot of progress. You need to calm down before you tire yourself out."

She sighed, holding up a picture resembling circles. "Does this look familiar to you?" Alaric furrowed his brows, taking the picture from her. "I'm trying to remember where I've seen it but the more I think about the more-"

"Your head hurts," he finished.

"I want to help Alaric. This would be so much easier if I..." she drifted off with another sigh.

"And you are helping," he told her rubbing her arm. "You didn't sleep last night did you?"

"I couldn't. every time I tried to my default setting was thinking back to these stupid cave drawings"

"Get some rest. Everything will still be here when you wake up."

Sabrina stirred as she woke up in Alaric's bed. Sitting up she saw Bonnie stood with Alaric in the kitchen area.

"Hey, feeling better?" Alaric asked as she walked over to them.

"This is worse than a hangover," she groaned.

Bonnie held up a coffee cup in front of her with a smile.

"Thanks," she said taking it from the witch. "Figured it out then?" she pointed to the picture now labelled 'witch'.

Her head then turned to the multiple pictures on the table still let unlabelled as she began moving them to get a better view.

"Sabrina, stop this isn't worth it." From the look on her face Alaric knew what she was trying to do.

After taking a sip of the coffee she lowered the cup and looked back at the two. "We need to go back to the Lockwood cellar."

"Why?" Alaric asked.

"It's time for a little story."

•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•

"Okay, so we have Vampire, werewolf, slaughter, mayhem, etc," Alaric read out from the multiple drawing there were labelled on the wall.

"That's the white oak tree that was used in the spell to create the vampires," Elena said pointing her torch at the image. "And that's when they burned down the tree, destroying the only way that they could be killed." She pointed at another imagine.

"Okay. So tree equals weapon, sort of. We already knew that. What we are not sure about is this," he stated pointing to an imagine higher up on the wall. "We've got the witch symbol, and what looks like a bleeding heart. Upside down figures usually signified death, of some kind."

Sabrina cleared her throat. Bonnie, Elena and Alaric turned in her direction. "So Rebekah told you that Mikael was the one that killed the original witch, right?" Elena nodded.

"That sign next to it means hybrid," Sabrina turned on her her own torch at the imagine of the vampire and werewolf. "It's a combination of the werewolf and the vampire symbol."

"Does that mean what I think it does?" Bonnie questioned at her explanation.

Sabrina nodded. "It was Klaus that killed the original witch, his mother."

Elena looked at her in shock. "Oh my god...Rebekah doesn't know the real story."

•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•

Sabrina left the Gilbert home in the dark hours of the night. She could hear talking from her room which meant that Damon was with her. Leaving the pair alone she drove to the Salvatore house. she felt compelled to check up on the blonde original vampire, not because Klaus asked her to but because she felt like she needed some company after being told by Elena that her brother killed their mother.

"How many times do I have to tell you to go away!" Anger mixed with the sound of tears called out as she walked in.

"Well I haven't been told yet," she said quietly as she walked into the living room.

The blonde was quick to turn her head when she heard Sabrina's voice. "Leave before I-"

"I know your upset," she cut of off as Rebekah came and stood in front of her. Her eyes were still red and watery.

"What would you know?" she seethed.

"I know that the people you have loved in your life time have either left you or betrayed you, that you're afraid and it's because of that you push people away. I know that despite all this you still haven't turned you back on your family because in the end, you know that they will be the ones that stand by you," she continued as she saw Rebekah starting to calm down. "You feel alone and all you want someone to actually care for you and for once not leave." Sabrina felt she want talking to herself more than to Rebekah as her monologue went on.

"Tell me I'm wrong," she whispered as the original took a step back.

Rebekah still looked hurt but a little taken back by how well she'd described her. "Why do you care?"

"Because Elijah was right, we're not so different. I used to block out all emotional attachment because I used to think it wasn't worth it. I thought whatever anyone felt for me was temporary and fleeting. But I changed, I let people in, people like Alaric and Damon...Jenna and Elijah," she when quiet towards the end.

Sabrina sniffled as she remembered the moments with the ones who were currently not with her. "Finding out I share emotional problems with not just one but two original vampires, how lucky am I?" she muttered with a slight ridicule.

"Look, I know you feel betrayed and angry but know you do have someone. But it's up to you to learn to trust again," she told her getting back to the point of her visit.

Rebekah still said nothing as Sabrina gave her a small smile and starting to head for the door.

"I was horrible to you, why are you being nice to me?" Rebekah's voice called out.

Sabrina turned her head. "Because I understand," she replied heading back out.
